It's been a while since we had eaten here and everything was still great from food, to service to the decor! This time around I tried the grilled cheese and it was yummy! The only thing is that the bathroom was a little unkept and I feel like the whole place could use a good scrub down.

Solid diner with ambitious menu. The large space has a noticeable retro checkerboard floor and is decorated with vintage type stuff, has a kitchy feel about it. An Elvis Presley statue presides over the main room. The sammies are large and well made. Am impressed by the fried catfish sammie , a real winner. The potato salad and coleslaw are both excellent. The Italian sub comes heated--and that threw me. Never had that done before, prefer it room temp. Portions are generous. Requested a booth (with many available) but seated at a table instead; annoyed me a bit. Overall, good food is found here.

Classic little diner with quick friendly service and delicious homestyle food. Prices are reasonable and food is fresh, I'd recommend it over any chain breakfast spot any day. It's not fancy. It's not fat free. It's just the way it used to be!

We came here for breakfast after hearing the buzz around this restaurant and we are glad we did. Home style cooking at its best.

Friends took us here for brunch. This is a casual place with good service (by Shaniqua). I ordered the tuna melt, which was delicious. The tuna salad was quite creamy. It was served on Texas toast. My husband had the Cuban sandwich, which was also delicious, although it wasn't served on true Cuban bread but a sub roll. The sides were good too. I'm giving this only 4 stars, as the women's bathroom was pretty nasty.

Holy cow did we get lucky finding this spot! We stopped in a Saturday morning just before 11 and they were slammed. We opted for 3 seats at the counter and so glad we did. The service was fast & friendly despite the hustle and bustle. I loved my county fried steak and eggs, would go back again for that in a heartbeat. And my son devoured his Ruben and said it was the best he's had yet.

The service was great. The food was very bland. There was a piece of hair in my sister's food.

Three egg omelette with hash browns and biscuit.

Visited the Burg last week and stopped at my favorite breakfast restaurant- Shorty's Diner. Instead of my usual order of a Russian omelette, I built my own omelette - bacon, cheese and mushrooms, cooked softly as ordered. Hash browns and a light and moist biscuit came with the three egg omelette. Enjoyed every bite! As always, I was seated and served quickly. Will definitely return for the best breakfast in Williamsburg.

shortys diner is the best!! I love it!! went again today and I got a veggie omelette and a biscuit and home fries. FANTASTIC!! The last time i went a few months ago, i got the blueberry pancakes and those were also FANTASTIC. I love the service here as well...it is quick and the waiters and waitresses all seem like family. they all seem to enjoy their jobs and one of them says she is 28 and has been working there since she was 17 and loves it!! That's such a good sign of a great business!!

Came here at 11am after the farmers market for the 1st time. Awesome little diner but man it was packed. Had the breakfast sampler. It had the right amount of everything you could want for breakfast! I had really good service and food.

The only down side is, it's very busy and you have to wait to get a table. (Not really a down side, since it speaks to their food)

I eat lunch here several times a year, and I ALWAYS GET the half pound burger. Think I'm ready to venture out and try something else. I'm leaning towards the Italian sub or the Philly, but what would be your recommendation?

If you like the Burger, then your next step is the Philly. It's close enough that it sets you up. I love the Philly.

I'm planning to go here with my family this Saturday. But why is there no take home for the kids menu??? My son is two, I highly doubt he'll eat half of the food all in one sitting...

I go there a lot. Just ask your server. I am sure they will pack up anything you want to take hone 😉. Great place!

Berry Burrata 3/5 - Not my favorite, but still decent. Asian Chicken Wraps 3/5 - This was okay, just a little too saucy for me. Fried Green Tomatoes 5/5 - One of our favorites. The pimiento cheese paired perfectly with it. Carolina Burger 4/5 - Huge portion, and my son really enjoyed it. 2nd St Burger 4/5 - Another big portion and overall really good. So much to love about this new discovery besides the fact that it's NOT a Starbucks lol and for those that know me, you know I love and love to support and discover tucked away indie coffee places (see my reviews!). This place is also a roastery and sells their own bean blends. I don't know the history behind the shop and name but was told it is chemistry themed and owned by W&M alum - yassssss! Service is SUPER friendly and excellent so that's a bonus! I lovvvvvvve that the latte menu is chock full of super creative seasonal flavors - so many to choose from!! I stopped by twice while in town and staying just down the street. Had a hot Rose Macaron latte and the next day had the Lemon Bar. Both were DELICIOUS. NOT OVERLY SWEET BUT WITH SUBTLE FLAVORS AND BOLD ESPRESSO TASTE. NOTTTTTT WIMPY WEAK. Both days I had the OG Bacon Egg Cheese sando on an ET bagel that was a decent accompaniment to my seasonal lattes which were clearly the stars of the show. I was there during the week - once mid afternoon, the other day late morning and it was not crowded at all both days. The seating area is HUGE. 2 separate adjacent rooms - walk through the front ordering area and you'll find a large, super cozy and inviting "living room" type space with comfy couches, armchairs, dining tables with chairs and even cubes for studying. Dark and moody vibes. SUPER COZY, RELAXING AND KEPT VERY CLEAN AND TIDY. The other seating area has a bunch of tables and chairs, lots of windows, brighter and more conducive for gathering. I took and posted a bunch of pics and some vids so check them out. So glad to have discovered this coffee spot and gem! Will definitely be back when I visit Williamsburg again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
