Hands down one of the best experiences we've had in Williamsburg! No doubt the best burgers we've ever had too! Huge, juicy, well seasoned, fresh and delicious! My husband got the Pastrami Burger, I built my own double and we shared the Farmers Fries. We won't even talk about the house Garlic Aioli, yummy! Even the pickle spear was good! Customer service was on point too! We didn't wait for anything and we were constantly asked if we needed anything from all the staff. Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. Stopped for lunch after recommended by a hospice chaplain My burger was amazing and my daughter said hers was terrific too. She got the burger with something olives and mine was the regular with lettuce, tomato, onions and their special sauce. We also got a large order of fries, which were delicious too. I asked my granddaughter and daughter if there was anything they would change about our lunch at Cook's. My grand said not one thing, my daughter wished they had coffee as a beverage choice and I thought they needed thicker napkins to help sop up the drips. All in all not one thing that would keep us from not coming back. Visited Williamsburg for the weekend and a friend recommended Cook's. The atmosphere: A small spot with a fun retro vibe. Has table, booth, and bar seating. The food: I ordered the Cook's Patty Melt with a side of Classic Tallow Fries. It's a nice twist on a burger, served on toasted seeded rye instead of a traditional sesame seed bun. The patty was juicy and cooked with a little pink, just how I like it. The caramelized onions and swiss cheese complemented the sandwich really well. The tallow fries were tasty, though I wish they'd been cooked a bit longer since a few came out inconsistently done. The service: Friendly service all around. By far the BEST burger spot I have ever been to. I have to start with the interior. We came when it was Christmas time so the place was decked out in lights and fun decor. The people that come here are definitely locals and you can feel that small town vibe which I loved. The staff were terrific - super kind, attentive, and you could just tell were good people. As for the food... I was amazed at how good it was. There is nothing better than a simple burger done well. Mine came with a dipping sauce (I don't remember what it was called) but it was delicious. Super succulent, meaty, and the bread was super soft. The fried might have been my favorite part. They were DELICIOUS. The holiday decor was on point along with the modern holiday music. What's on the other end is the wait and the service. This restaurant has plenty of parking located in a strip mall nearby a Food Lion and Marshalls. There was quite a selection of drinks and burgers as well as options for burger upgrades. Months ago, a fellow Yelper posted a review on this spot located in Willamsburg. I've never heard of this place so to head feedback from friends is helpful. So you know there was a chance I had to check them out. Last month, Sophia and I finally had to chance to see if the hype was worth it. We came during a rainy day where they had half capacity. Basically, the restaurant is an ode to diners in the past. There are some booths and tables to go with the bar which is really nice. Flat screen TVs are in place and music was playing throughout. The decor is definitely an old school feel and they have pictures of well-known chefs. For our table was one of the late, great Anthony Bourdain. Still miss you buddy. For the meal, it was top notch. I ordered their Cook's Reuben sandwich which has pastrami as the protein along with typical ingredients for a reuben sandwich. This one was within my realm since I'm a fan of reubens. This bad boy was enough to fill up yours truly. It'll never overtake the sandwiches I had at the former Route 58 deli, but it's one I'll definitely order again. Thank you Cook's for making me happy. This is a good place for when you want a great burger and drinks. It does get busy pretty quickly, so there might be a wait. We were added to the waitlist and it was only 10-15 mins. It does get pretty loud, but that's expected for a place like this. The servers were quick and attentive. I got the moonshine lemonade, which was strong and good. It went well with the heavy food we had. My husband got a Dr. Brown's root beer, which was ok. For food, I got the bacon burger, which was very good and my husband got the mushroom swiss burger. This place had me at hello! I mean it! I was instantly greeted by a gentleman whom I later found out is named Brian, aka Beertender #1, and instantly felt all warm and fuzzy. From the conversation about craft lagers to the last bite of the best burger I've ever eaten- this establishment had me wrapped around its finger. My Bacon & Cheese Tallow Burger was perfect - juicy, cooked in natural beef tallow (so much flavor!), dressed with farm-to-table lettuce and tomatoes (from Cook's own farm), and topped with Cook's special delicious tangy secret sauce. The Tallow Fries were the best, a perfect compliment to the burger! My server, Brandi, was the perfect blend of Cheers' Karla mixed with a touch of Diane (IYKYK), and kept me in lively conversation. I wanted to call all my closest friends (both of them!) to come join me for revelry and rabble rousing (and to try the Spam Fries!) well into the wee hours; this is the absolute kind of place to do that. Essentially a can of spam cut into sticks and fried into fries. A little sweetness on the outside but still that salty fleshy texture and taste of spam that we all love even if we do so secretly We shared the Rueben and it was good. We cheated on our favorite restaurant in Williamsburg and rarely does it ever pay off. It didn't pay off this time either. The inside was very nice! Loved how they decorated for the holidays with the lights. We could smell this place from outside and it smelled so good and looked so nice inside. There was as a bit of a wait and there was no organized system to seat customers. Once we were seated, our server was NOT happy about us eating there. We did not feel welcomed at all. It took more than 15 minutes to get him to come back to our table so we could order. It felt like we were bothering him just for him to take our order. The menu is limited, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and an order of the tallow fries. The burger was small and the large order of fries was rather small too. The burger was okay, I couldn't even tell that bacon had been added. It just wasn't that great. I was very disappointed. I could have gotten a double bacon cheeseburger two sides and a milkshake at Cookout cheaper than just the burger alone at this place. I think I will pass on this place. We came here after a night at Christmas Town at Busch Gardens and it was the perfect late night meal we needed. After a long day at a park with expensive food you often will not eat as much as you may want waiting to get out of the park. Well we left the park around 10 pm and with this place closing at midnight it was a blessing. But the burger was fantastic tasted so fresh and just all around a great size and price. The aesthetic inside was also great with a diner look and the touches of having arcade games as well. We were looking for a spot to eat this evening and as I was reading the menu of Cook's Burger Bar I saw they were cooking in beef tallow and we were sold. Not only does cooking in beef tallow or duck fat enhance the flavor of what you're preparing it's much healthier for you than seed oils. The burgers were phenomenal-best burger myself or my husband have had out at a restaurant, perhaps ever. The bun stood up to the burger without overpowering it or disintegrating. The nightly specials are killer, so definitely check those out. We also tried the wings and if you're into smoked wings these have a heavy smoke to them. I loved the music, and the restaurant vibes. The only thing that would send them over the top fully is if the fries were crispier with a touch more consistent salting but you know what I'll take fries cooked in tallow that aren't quite as crispy than junk fries fried in seed oil anytime. Lots of people love Cook's. For us, it was fine. They offer single patty (1/4 lb.) or double patty (1/2 lb.) burgers served on a delicious toasted bun topped with sesame seeds. You can choose from a small selection of specialty-topped burgers or build your own. I chose to build my own, and was charged 75 cents for lettuce and 75 cents for a tomato. I believe those basics should come included in the burger fee. They also had premium toppings like bacon for $1.50. That I expected. I like to enjoy a glass of red wine with my burger, though while Cook's has an extensive full bar, they only had Chardonnay, and I think it was in cans. The menu lists a red blend, but it wasn't available. If you like whiskey or bourbon, this is your place. The fries are delicious! I highly recommend you order a side of fries or a full order to share. The full order comes with Cook's special sauce, which is like a ketchup and mayo mixture. Service was good and efficient. The decor looks like a cross between a diner and a bar. The booths were comfortable, and we could see the TV in the bar area. Overall, nothing bad, but it didn't knock our socks off. read more

I want to start by saying that CBB has some of the best burgers around--absolutely delicious, especially on that perfectly toasted brioche bun. I make it a point to stop by Cook's whenever I'm in Williamsburg, and I usually have nothing but great things to say about this place. However, I felt it was important to share something I witnessed during my visit on Sunday, April 12th, while sitting at the bar enjoying my meal. At one point, I overheard the male bartender say, "I'm working with idiots," after a young server asked him a question. I later asked one of the staff members if I could speak with a manager, and she informed me that the bartender was the manager on duty. Because of that, I didn't feel comfortable addressing my concern directly with him. It was disappointing to hear a manager speak that way about staff, especially when the team was clearly working hard to keep up with a very busy shift. While the young man he spoke about didn't seem to hear the comment, I believe at least one other staff member did. I do want to recognize the rest of the team, who handled everything with professionalism and grace. One young woman in particular stood out--she was constantly moving, cleaning tables, managing glassware, stocking, and helping wherever needed without pause. This experience won't stop me from returning, as the food truly is outstanding. I simply hope to see a more respectful and supportive management presence during future visits. Great burger spot, but don't be surprised if you're waiting a bit to be seated. We sat outside and enjoyed the bacon burgers while our son had the chicken tenders, all were great, especially the Brussels sprouts instead of fries. Wait was over estimated time and service was a bit slow. One menu for our table of four and three waters. The waitress lost our order and had to come back to get it again. Food: patty melt was good, the rest (bacon burger, classic burger and povire burger)- burnt burger patties and dry, my girls did not finish their burgers due to the taste and the first batch of fries where crispy and great, the second batch was soggy and a disappointment. The only first available seating was at the bar. So my awkward self sat there. That is totally not my scene or type of seating, but I embraced it. I ordered my water with lemon, and participated in the all you can eat wings for that night. I did two rounds. They had a nice crisp and flavor to them. The wings are scrumptious! I did not get a burger but, I did hear other patrons brag about their burgers. The interior was small and eclectic. The exterior dining looked great. Ive been wanting to try Cook's Burger Bar since they've opened. I originally messaged them asking about their wing options and sauces to see if I could eat them as I'm gluten intolerant. The person was very friendly vs just sending me the menu as I've experienced with some places. I was finally in the area walking my dog and decided to grab takeout before heading home. This felt a bit risky since I've never dined here before. I liked that their ordering system you could mark gluten allergy very clearly. I ordered a bacon burger on a gf bun. It came with a sauce and I marked sauce on the side. You can add fries for $4 which is great. Since I wanted to indulge I ordered the Farmer's Fries instead which has tons of garlic, pecorino cheese and a garlic aioli. Once I arrived my food was ready. I asked someone at the front a question about the sauces. He stated they weren't gluten free. I am going to give the benefit of a doubt he was thinking I said vegan as he stated it had "mayo, mustard and ketchup" which is generally gluten free. This caused me to be concerned as the sauce was put on my burger vs on the side. I went back in to confirm and the cook stated it was gluten free. I never want to be "that person" but also want to ensure what I'm eating is safe. Overall, I enjoyed my food and even after a 20 minute drive it was still delicious. We visited Cooks Burger Bar after doing a haunted tour in Williamsburg and really looked forward to a good burger. My boyfriend got the bacon burger with the farmers fries and I got the pot roast with potatoes. We got 2 orders of the David's scotch egg. To be honest the food was a let down. The pot roast was very salty and the fries were a huge portion but were a little burnt. The scotch eggs were very bland and the outside portion that was deep fried had no flavor. The burger was middle of the road nothing special but decent. HOWEVER!!! I would come back for the service alone because our waitress was absolutely incredible. She was honest about what she liked and was super funny, nice & speedy! The ambiance was dim lighting and there was an amazing artist playing guitar.
