We were excited to make our way out to the DoG Street Pub in Merchants Square this past Saturday for dinner and drinks. We found the atmosphere of this gastropub, once an 80-year old bank, to be very relaxed and fun dining experience. It was busy and the noise level was loud, but that was expected as there were several larger groups of all ages. Service was good. We were seated at a nice table. The nitro stout on tap was enjoyed by a few in our party. The "chips" aka fries that came with our burgers were exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the Impossible Burger which was larger than expected. My husband enjoyed the Fish and Chips which was also a generous sized plate. It is a pub style restaurant with really great outdoor seating we sat inside because it was so hot. My friend and I split the Turkey BLT wrap and Wedge salad. Both were fresh and delicious. What a fun place to hang out and eat! There is outdoor seating, lots of space inside and a fun bar atmosphere. We weren't super hungry, so we each grabbed a beer. I got a caiseal peach apricot ale and hubby got a good luck stout nitro. I was given a sample first and loved it! The Reuben croquettes were excellent! The filling was so flavorful and the outside was fried to perfection. The dipping sauce made it all even better! The Welsh rarebit was something I thought was meat, but when I saw the table next to me get it, I knew I had to try it. Sourdough bread w/ cheese and sauce. So freaking good and a hearty serving. Found Dog Street Pub for a quick lunch/snack bite. After attending my nieces graduation we were starving and the party didn't start until 3. Stopped here and ordered food and a cider for me. There are lots of options that sound great here and we had a hard time deciding what to order! Which is a good problem to have! We got the chili to start and it was great. This place has some of the best food I've ever had. The fish and chips was THE BEST fish I've had in my life! And my mom had a burger with an actually good gluten free bun. I got an amazing root beer handmade by a local brewery, and oh my lord, that was good. Dad got a pretty good cold beer, and we all did cheers together With my family, and our allergies, it can be hard to eat out sometimes, but this place was SUPER accomodating. Carter, our server, was amazing. He remembered everything, was very sociable, had a really fun sense of humor. Very nice and funny dude. Definitely deserves his promotion We sat outside, and just the happenings of the lovely corner was super relaxing. Dog friendly, so a bunch of cute puppies were around. The DoG Street Pub's Tavern room was beyond perfect for my daughter's wedding reception. Yes, the Pub does host private dining events!!! We had a small family wedding at the Wren Chapel and guests were able to walk to the Pub. Planning the event with the manager, Ann, was a dream. She was kind, accommodating, and answered all my questions. Eve was also kind and helpful. Guests were greeted by a beautiful charcuterie board and vegetable tray, perfect table decorations, and attentive servers. The food was A-MAZ-ING. A specialized menu was created for the event. Several of the guests had nut allergies, so the chef altered the menu to exclude nuts. The choices of entrées and desserts were perfect - way more special than your regular "beef, chicken or fish" options. The event was perfect in every way. Highly, highly recommend! read more

We also came here on a cool fall day and loved our seats outside on the plaza where we could watch all the people walk by and listen to the street performers. My partner ordered a hot cocktail to help warm himself up and I had a negroni. Not gonna lie, it wasn't the best cocktail ever. But the relaxing atmosphere made up for the bad cocktail. For dinner, our kids ordered cheeseburgers and fries while my partner got the Chicken Tikka Marsala. The fries were great! And my kids devoured them. My partner's dish was just okay. I definitely wouldn't order it again. I went with the vegan burger with vegan cheese. It was again, just okay. But the location is what ups my stars here. I'm feeling generous, what can I say! The portion is the biggest I've seen in over 70 years. It's almost impossible for me to open my mouth that wide to take a bite. The Rail Sandwich has to seen to be believed, well over 2" thick plus loaded with pulled pork which was very tasty & tender. The crisps reminded me of Cape Cod chips and I ate the whole bowl. No restaurant in Hawaii can compare or prepare a sandwich like that without it costing $30 or more. I'm impressed with everything and if I'm ever in the area I'd like to eat lunch and dinner there. I was surprised by this establishment. It was a nice evening so we got a table outside, which was very nice. They did put pork in a lot of their items, which made it a little bit difficult to decide since neither of us eat pork. My sister really liked her chili, which honestly could be a meal on its own. I tried the cheese dip with naan and it was very good. I was very disappointed in my corned beef brisket sandwich. I saw photos on here where it had tons of meat and looked great, but this sandwich barely had any meat at all. I actually took out all the toppings from one half and put it on the other, eating it as a half sandwich - and it wasn't very full still. My sister got the chicken Caesar wrap, which she said was pretty good. For a drink I got the Pimm's cup, which I felt was one of the best I've had. I even went to a Pimm's bar and this one I liked more. Would I go back? Yes! I would just not recommend the sandwich I got. read more

First stop in, in ages, and just like I remember. For me this was always one of the og spots for craft beer in Williamsburg. They have a respectable amount of taps (16) with local variety and also stock a pretty broad array of cans and bottles. This particular trip I had a 2017 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Also tried a couple sours and wheat beers in a flight a friend grabbed. Not a beer fan? They have a full bar and wine. Overall, feels like an upscale version of a traditional pub you'd see in a movie. Fits Williamsburg's vibe very well. Food wise, again pub style. Burgers and sandwiches, salads, and pub favorites - fish and chips, shepherds pie, bangers and mash. I went with the Stout Chili which was surprisingly large for a starter but packed with flavor. They also have a limited but cute patio space and last but not least, staff is always super attentive and upbeat. Definitely recommend. read more

Stop in for a drink and stayed for dinner. There is more than the food we remember about our visit here. It was late afternoon and early evening and another time when the original intent gave way to a better and more enjoyable afternoon. We had been doing a bit of touisting during the day and went looking for an afternoon 'sit down' and then find dinner. The AMBIENCE sold us. We sat at an outer window and watched the people go by, locals and many times obviously not-local. At one point there was an organized run, not a competition but organised in a casual manner. Numerous people were out walking their dogs, who being a dog person I always notice. I was able to locate another beer to my taste and my wife a cocktail. Dinner was Shepard's Pie for both of us, a favorite when we find it and I will make it at home also. The dinner tasted very good! An observation we both made was an abundance of mashed potato. There was potato on the bottom of the plate, the meat seasoned and tasting really good, and then another greater amount of potato on the top. For us this is a frequent, not complaint, but observation and certainly not in what I believe is the traditional way to is cooked. We simply dug the meat off the top of the bottom layer and ate our meal. It didn't interfere in the enjoyment of our dinner nor the flavor. We simply don't like that amount of mashed potato in ratio to the meat. Would we return if given the chance? Certainly and asking for a window or outside table. We stopped by for a quick lunch during our day trip to Colonial Williamsburg, and it was a delicious break from the mid-day heat! I loved the crispiness of the chicken skin and the buffalo dipping sauce. My sister loved her Cesar chicken wrap, with her favorite part being the sun dried tomato/basil tortilla. My mom tried the Rail Sandwich, which is one of the most popular dishes at the DoG. She especially enjoyed the sourdough bread and the unique toppings on the sandwich! DoG is equipped with a full bar, and it also serves flavored teas/lemonades, San Pellegrino, and Coke products. What really made DoG a 5-star experience was the service from our waiter, Yusuf. He was really one of the most polite and enthusiastic people I've ever met! He told us the history of the restaurant, gave us an overview of the best items on the menu, and showed his commitment to allergy-friendliness when someone in the party next to us said she had an onion allergy. Wonderful English Pub near the William and Mary campus. Eclectic take on pub classics. I had the corned beef brisket sandwich with crisps (homemade potato chips) and a lemonade. Located conveniently just outside of the main drag of colonial Williamsburg, this cute little restaurant is serving up "British food with an American twist." And I would say they're doing exactly that! The cocktails here are absolutely absolutely wonderful, and the food is like nothing I've ever had before. The fusion of American cuisine with traditional British fair is really interesting and something I didn't know I needed. They have a really lovely outdoor patio to enjoy the nice Virginia evenings, and the wait staff is excellent. I stopped in here today while on a weekend trip to Williamsburg and was pleasantly surprised. We dined in the early afternoon between 430 and 5 and were seated promptly. Our server was friendly and it had a laid back feel to the place. There seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists inside. The fish and chips were delicious. I've never seen pieces of cod that large. The batter had a nice flavor and was perfectly crispy. I wasn't a fan of the tartar sauce as it was a bit tart but other than that the food and service was fantastic.
