Lobster tails with steak fries was delicious!
    Peter O.

It's our last night in VA., so we all wanted a steakhouse that locals love. We picked the Aberdeen Barn on Richmond Ave., Williamsburg, VA. We enjoyed their food and atmosphere a couple of years ago. We were seated right away and the restaurant inside was a barn board with wooden post and beam. Our waitress, Lorna, was great. Our grandson was thirty, so she kept bringing him glasses of water. We had sirloin and prime rib steaks which melted in our mouths. We also had lobster tails and all the fixings: steak fries, rice, broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes and baked potatoes. Everything was great and cooked to perfection! We truly enjoyed our culinary experience at the Aberdeen Barn. All our food was served hot and atmosphere was relaxed and felt like home. Great food, great wait serve and a wonderful experience with our family. If you're in Williamsburg and want an excellent steak and/or mouth watering seafood, this is the restaurant you want to experience. This is one the local's favorite places to eat. I agree with the local's assessment! Stay safe in your travels and stay healthy. Enjoy your family and friends over great meal.

If you are in Williamsburg, VA, you have to go to Aberdeen Barn for a meal. We were very fortunate to have acquired a coupon for Dinner for Two at $56.99. The server told us (Table of 5) we only need one coupon. Everyone got the 3 course meal for $28.50! Started out with Wisconsin cheese and crackers. The server brought out ciabatta rolls. We all had dinner salads with a choice of dressing. (House-made bleu cheese was amazing). Then we had a choice of Prime Rib of beef, grilled Top Sirloin or Mahi Mahi w/ shrimp. For the final course, we had a small dessert of brownie with ice cream and whip. Perfect end and just enough. The place inside looked like it hadn't been updated in 30 years, but didn't take away from the experience that we had. It was clean and well maintained.

While visiting Williamsburg for a friends birthday, we chose Aberdeen barn for her birthday dinner. The hospitality was great! They allowed us to move our reservation back and Rob was a great server. We enjoyed the rolls and butter. They were crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. As an appetizer we ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. I was different. I probably would try a different appetizer next time. The steak was cooked well and overall we all enjoyed our meals. Ambiance was consistent with a barn very casual.

Service is excellent and honestly the best part of eating here. The food is also nice but not the best for the price; the prime rib is cooked well but has little flavor, the seafood trilogy was overcooked, and the cheese starter is... not great (stale crackers and cheese that tastes like the snack packs with the cracker sticks you can get at the gas station). Casual dining, dimly lit with old country decor.

We had an incredible 45 Anniversary dinner for my parents at the Aberdeen Barn, largely thanks to Harris James. He is easily one of the best servers we've ever had. Harris made my parents feel like the guests of honor. He anticipated every need before we even asked and never made us felt rushed or ignored. Next time we are back in town we will be sure to visit again and ask to sit in the section on Mr. Harris.

So, I will separate service from the food. The service was A1! Everyone was very nice and super attentive. 5 out of 5 for service. Now the food on the other hand, was definitely lacking. Starting with the appetizers. We had the ribs and the shrimp cocktail. The ribs looked good but did not have a good flavor, it was a bit odd. I did not care for it at all. The shrimp was very good. But its just chilled shrimp. Moving on to entrees..my husband and I had the Delmonico steaks.... definitely not what I would consider a quality cut. The steaks were extremely tough and chewy. The entree definitely impacted this review. For the price and this being a steakhouse...the steak should have been the star of the meal. But. This is why the review suffered. It was my birthday and I got full off my baked potato and my Pepsi. Disappointed!

We made reservations for 430pm and we were seated promptly at that time. The atmosphere has a barny look with tables and chairs with arms. The booths are low but comfortable. The female bathroom has been remodeled with three smaller stalls. We ordered our food which were lamb chops cooked medium and barn fries. The delmonico steak cooked medium well. The salad was fresh and cold. The bread was hot and melted the butter in no time. When I cut into my lamb chops, it was cooked perfectly. They were seasoned and just needed a tad bit more flavor. The steak was cooked just the way it needed it to be. It was seasoned and just needed a tad bit more flavor as well. We had sea salt and peppercorn on the table so that added what we needed. This is our 1st time here at this location. We have been to the NC location a few years ago. Our server was good and not over the top.

The reputation built for this establishment: superior food, excellent service, quiet atmosphere, were all on grand display for my wife's birthday. Mike made the visit more pleasant, and the bartender made some of the best chocolate martinis in the region. But of course the food; prime rib superb. Delmonico prepared properly, and 6-oz filet was just right. A memorable night made more special by "The Barn".

Restaurant Week Special. Surf & Turf

Just moving in to Williamsburg from Michigan after years of visiting. We have passed Aberdeen Barn dozens of times but never stopped because it has always been busy. It is early February, the hordes of tourists are gone and I stopped there to check it out. One word: Wow! Upon sitting down, I was serviced by two waiters and presented with a plate of sharp cheddar spread and crackers and a menu. Reminds me of the Angus Barn in Raleigh, but not as large. The menu is extensive. On the table was a special offer for extended Restaurant Week that could not be overlooked. Surf & Turf for a great price. My choice was a no-brainer. The first course was a delicious corn and shrimp chowder. It had a bite that was perfect for the sub freezing weather outside. It was accompanied by a basket of hot bread. The house salad was generous and came with a choice of dressings offered at table side. The main course was medium rare prime rib was outstanding: juicy, tender and generous. It came with a baked potato and horse radish. Along side the slice of beef were three nice sized lobster claws. This is a combination that cannot be beat. All for $49. The meal was accompanied by a glass of California Cabernet from their extensive wine list. Needless to say, I had no room for dessert. The review would not be complete without a shout out for my waiter, Winston, an older gentleman from Jamaica whose attentive service was with a big smile. He was everything that I consider to be best-in-class service. We will mark this restaurant as a favorite for our new home in Williamsburg.

    Seafood platter was great.

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded.
