Your driving is scaring the hell out of me. Dirty windshields with wipers that don't work make for a scary experience as you realize your driver can't see a damn thing. The bus is comfortable enough but due to the scariness factor. I might not have any fingernails left by the time I get to NYC. It's gonna be a harrowing 5 hour ride. read more

What a miserable experience! I landed at Stewart airport, the first of my mistakes and decided to take the advertised easy bus trip back to port authority! Well folks, 40 minutes later we're still waiting to depart from the airport as apparently the bus has to wait for everyone that bought a ticket to leave, because there's only one bus leaving! I've taken Shortline from Ithaca to NYC roughly five times now and it's usually very unpleasant. The drivers all seem to go out of their way to treat their customers with contempt and make them feel uncomfortable. I once witnessed a young woman trying to get off the bus at the Binghamton to get a drink or something, only to have the bus driver turn around and yell "well you SHOULD have got off when I asked!" The Cornell bus is significantly more expensive and It's obvious that there's not much competition, because these guys sure act like it! My most recent experience riding Shortline has convinced me to avoid it again in the future if I can. The bus drivers did their best to ensure that the passengers were uncomfortable. I took the 4:51 am bus from Ithaca to NYC, and at our first stop in Binghamton, I tried to get off the bus so I could go buy some tea or something inside the bus station. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the driver had closed the door and locked it behind him. There was a toggle to unlock the door, but it wouldn't budge. I had to wait until the next driver came on. I approached him, and he did not turn around to acknowledge me, but huffed, "can I help you?" as he rummaged through his bag. I explained that I wanted to go inside, and he let me out. I discovered that the coffee machine inside was broken, so I came out and waited to get back on the bus. The driver took his time reviewing his paperwork before getting up to collect tickets. But instead of opening the door to let passengers on who were outside waiting in the cold, he went through the bus, collecting tickets from the passengers. There is no reason he could not have let the passengers waiting onto the bus - he would have had to collect tickets from all of us at one point, anyway. After he finished collecting tickets from the onboard passengers, he finally came out. The first girl in line thought, naturally, that now, finally, he was going to collect our tickets and allow us on the bus. She extended her ticket to him, but he silently ignored her, turning his back and beginning a lengthy inspection of the outside of the bus. Again, this task could have been completed after the passengers waiting outside in the cold had been let onto the bus. Even after we got onto the bus, the misery didn't stop. Despite it being a relatively cool early fall day, the driver turned on the AC full blast. I asked him to turn down the AC, and he did, but when the temperature had finally reached something tolerable, he turned it back on again, this time colder than before. At least it seemed so. In addition, I noticed when I approached him that he was talking on his cell phone! Granted, he was using a hands-free device, but talking on a cell phone and driving with the lives of several dozen passengers in his hands is neither professional nor safe. I used to take Shortline when I was in college about 15 years ago, and the drivers then really seemed much more courteous. I am not sure what happened in the meantime, but I am going to avoid Shortline from now on if at all possible. read more

The drivers are some of the scummiest, most contemptuous people I've ever seen. They seem to take joy in treating customers with disrespect. After asking the driver and his co-pilot to turn on the electricity, I was told to "Go sit down" like I was on a middle school bus to the ghetto. Real nice folks. If you're lucky, you'll get a bus with working electricity. If it doesn't work by just flipping a switch up front (only if you explicitly ask them several times), don't expect it to work, because the drivers have the IQ of a candlestick and won't try to make it work. The WiFi only works if you're born in the 12th hour on a Blessed Friday. The workers won't help you with luggages either. Like all transportation into, inside, and out of Ithaca, this service has an inexplicable monopoly and provides the poor service that makes it clear they know it. The process of buying a ticket is convoluted, unfriendly, and stressful. The website absolutely sucks and looks like it was made in 1998. You never know if you're getting the right tickets. After you buy a ticket, you have to first print it out, and then take the printed paper to a ticketing station and exchange it for "real tickets". Again, 1998. read more

Unbearable. Buses to New York require stops in Binghamton and occasionally other places, forcing meandering routes that make the trip hours longer than necessary to complete (nonstop driving time to NYC: 3.5 hours; Shortline bus time: 5-6). Would much prefer the company offered fewer daily departures if this routine were unnecessary and every bus proceeded directly between Ithaca and the city - then they'd also be full coming out of Ithaca and there'd be no need to stop and take on others to pack the maximum profit margin per bus, as I presume the company is doing. Don't believe for a second the bus's wifi works, either; it rarely does, unless it's on a special holiday run - the only time the company offers buses linking NY and Ithaca nonstop. The outlets by each seat, if available at all, may or may not have any power for your phone or laptop. Even the reading lights don't work at least 25% of the time. It's sad that the only alternative to this miserable experience is to spend hundreds of dollars on a flight likely to be cancelled at the first sign of inclement weather (read: in Ithaca, nearly always) or to spend twice as much on Cornell's unnecessarily luxurious "executive bus," solely for the purpose of reaching New York without intermediate stops. I would give money hand over fist to the first person to start a company transporting people directly from New York to Ithaca at a price somewhere between what Shortline charges and what Cornell's Campus-to-Campus bus/limo does. How has no one yet provided this service? What conspiracy is giving Shortline a monopoly over the transportation needs of the vast majority of Ithacans? And it is a monopoly, because no company subject to fair competition would operate so poorly. (UPDATE as of 2017: Thankfully, such a company now exists! Check out the Big Red Bullet, which also picks up in downtown Ithaca, sparing everyone living there the need to trek to Cornell's campus, Collegetown, or the ill-located Ithaca Bus Station. There's also a new, nonstop service offered by Shortline itself, but it seems to only run on a very limited basis.) read more

If you want the worst experience of all time ride Short Line. Seriously. The extra cost for the campus to campus bus is 100% worth it. You might say, "Oh, it's owned by Coash Usa, it can't be that bad! Megabus is owned by Coach USA, and it's not too bad!" Well, I'm sorry to tell you, you'd be completely wrong. Megabus is downright luxury compared to this experience. The ticketing process is a complete disaster. You can "buy your ticket online"--but you have to print it out. The online ticket purchasing process is very similar to the one for Megabus, with transactions even processed by WorldPay -- the same company that handles the MegaBus online tickets, which you don't have to print. That would all be fine except THEY DON'T BOTHER TO TELL YOU YOU HAVE TO PRINT UNTIL AFTER YOU BUY THE TICKET. And that's just the begining! After that, you have to exchange your print-out for an actual ticket. Except they have 3 windows of people you can exchange with for all of the Short Line busses leaving Port Authority. So needless to say, that line gets crazy long. (I missed my bus waiting in it; leave lots of time for this BS process.) In case your day hasn't yet been totally ruined, there's more fun waiting for you onboard! The short version: the bus drivers are assholes. But here's what you really need to know: if you take the bus to Ithaca, they come around without notice to collect tickets again in Binghamton. And they're not nice if you don't have it ready. So be ready. Or have a bunch of cash with you. That's about as far as I got before I had to get on writing this review. Hopefully my Short Line adventure ends soon. Had the worst overcrowded and very poorly ventilated trip from Monticello to New York City yesterday. Also, there was no warning either on the terminal window that I checked earlier in the day or on the website that tickets could only be paid for in cash if not online. Horrible business. read more

I wish I read these reviews before booking Shortline to go to Ocktoberfest at Bear Mountain. To reiterate, the ticketing process makes no sense if you buy the ticket online. You have to print out the email confirmation and bring it to the ticket counter at Port Authority to get your ticket. There's no separate line for ticket pick up. What century are we living in? Then the 3:19 bus never showed up at Bear Mountain and we had to wait two hours for the next bus. Terrible horrible experience. Never again. read more

Rode the bus to NYC on Friday and returned to Ithaca on Monday. There were 2 other people on the bus with me on the Monday trip. Plenty of room both trips. No problems with the bus. Friendly drivers. Snacks and water provided. Bathroom was clean. Electrical outlets worked. Not sure why others rated it so low. read more

Best, most personable way to and from Ithaca, by far. The drive between Ithaca & NYC is a long exhausting one, but the overnight drivers tend to be warm and accommodating. I remember one time when my phone died on the 10:15 bus between Binghamton & Ithaca & the outlets were out. The driver spoke with me the entire way, so I wouldn't be bored to death. It was the best bus ride I've ever had. Plus, they drop off & pick up minutes away from dorms all over campus; so the convenience is superb. read more

Absolutely no understanding of the words "customer service." It all starts at the State Street Bus Terminal, where the ticket agent somehow finds it appropriate to bring her psychotic, yelping dog to work, scaring the $&/@ out of every customer who walks in. Then, we board the bus. A Cornell student apparently stowed his suitcase at the last stop, but the driver slammed the bus door in his face and refused to let him board. Then, he showed up at the State Street Bus Terminal and, when he got on, was shocked to discover the bus driver threw his luggage out on the curb at one of the other Cornell stops. As we pull into Binghamton, the drivers change. Only up from here, right? WRONG. The new driver steps on board after some passengers get off the bus. When one kid asks to get off the bus, he yells at him, saying "I'm busy now! You should have got off when the last driver first pulled in!" As this pleasant new driver begins taking tickets from the passengers, I rip off my ticket for the next trip ticket RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM to make his life easier. He verbally assaults me for the next two minutes, saying that the fine print on the ticket says "not valid if detached." Why the hell is that there in the first place? That's the first question. The driver then tries to kick me off the bus. Luckily, the people seated around me did the same thing and we stood up for each other. Still that didn't prevent him from verbally assaulting each of them individually about this stupid rule. Ignorance is the only word suitable for describing Coach USA and its Short Line Bus. I must admit, I read the other reviews prior to booking a ticket and said "it can't really be that bad!" The sad truth is that there's a reason this company has a one-star Yelp score: they don't acknowledge, or even understand, that they are a SERVICE business. The Cornell Campus-to-Campus bus is easily worth the premium fare it charges to avoid having to put up with the absolute ignorance of these goons. Alternatively, if you book far enough in advance, it might make sense just to fly down to Newark on United. One last thing: the ticketing system gives you a ticket that is not assigned to a specific date or time. Instead, it is ticketed for the route you select and valid for 4 months from the date of purchase. While this might be nice if your plans change, it is extremely worrisome if you have a tight schedule and can't run the risk of missing a bus that might be full well before departure! I can only imagine the headache that would ensue here. read more

We have taken Shortline Coach USA five times to NYC and back. Twice as a charter, once as express and twice as a local. Each time we have made great time. Even with stops. The drivers have always been courteous and they get us there without much hassle. Twice we have had TERRIBLE blizzard conditions (once where the interstate was shut down) and the drivers were so skilled, so cautious, and very patient and got us there when we passed 18 wheelers and other vehicles stopped dead on the highway because they couldn't get up the hill. These drivers know their stuff and we have not had a problem with any of them. I appreciate a driver that pays attention to the job at hand and is respectful of the safety of their passengers while making good time in good driving conditions. We have taken Greyhound and will NEVER do it again. Our Greyhound driver drank 2 giant Monster drinks, ate food and texted while driving and weaving on and off the highway as well as dumping a 5 hr Energy Extra in his big gulp soda. It was terrifying and we won't ever take Greyhound again. Shortline is quick and easy and while the wi-fi isn't always working and some buses don't have outlets, we bring our ipods and kindles and hunker down for the trip. It isn't the Campus to Campus bus experience at Cornell, but the tix are half the price and the ride is fast and fine. Also- when we leave Port Authority, they are SO organized and even during Thanksgiving weekend with hundreds of people in line, they get everyone organized and out the door in no time. It's a bus service...it isn't first class and it isn't a Lear Jet people. It is a good deal and it gets us there and back safely. read more

Do not take this bus. I just returned from my first trip, NYC to Ithaca. The driver who arrived believed he was driving to Binghamton, and resolving that made our departure late. We did go to Binghamton, ending the 'premium nonstop' idea. There was no wifi on the bus, no amenities (that were advertised) the seats were like concrete and the overhead lights had been painted over with white paint, making reading impossible. Illogically, the first stop was downtown rather than west campus. We arrived late. Never again... read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. The ticketing process is a nightmare-you need to bring out an eticket which you then have to go exchange at a bus terminal (which is in the worst part of town). The buses are erratic and either arrive an hour early or an hour late. Many of the drivers are unfriendly and rude. The stops are terribly executed. I waited for an hour at one- no driver in the bus and all the passengers getting off there were long gone. In total the stops add another two hours to an already long trip read more

Traveling home to NYC from Ithaca on this bus line is the bane of my college career at Cornell. While it is significantly cheaper than Cornell's Campus to Campus bus, I have experienced the worst service possible on this bus. Schedules are unreliable as buses are often very late and a local bus from Port Authority to Ithaca and vice versa can take upwards of six hours. I've had bus drivers stop at rest stops to take smoke breaks. Several times bus drivers have actually gotten lost going back to Ithaca and asked passengers for directions, often adding as much as 40 minutes to our travel time. The system they use to collect tickets is highly inefficient as they make you get off the bus to exchange your eticket for a paper ticket at the Ithaca Bus Terminal adding 30+ minutes of travel time. This bus service exploits college students who cannot afford the C2C bus or don't have a car to take home on breaks. I'm excited to never take this bus again come graduation this May. read more

To whom it may concern....if anyone? I boarded the 4:11PM Eastside Coach Bus from 97th Street and 3rd Ave NYC going to Monroe NY.....today Dec 2nd 2011 When I boarded, I took the right front seat directly behind the front window, and sat next to the window with the aisle seat on my left available to any other passenger.... When I seated myself I noticed that the driver gave me a disgruntled look and I thought to myself.... Why ? A minute or so into the drive up 3rd Ave he turned to me and said that he had a passenger that would be getting on who has a " bad leg " and that she always sat there..... I thought to myself..... well there is enough room here with the aisle seat open.... but I thought , maybe she has crutches or something ....so she might need the 2 seats for it all.... so I got up and moved a few rows back which I prefer not to do..... but I did Shortly thereafter.... 2 people a man and a woman came onto the bus , talking non stop to the driver and sat in the seat I had just given up.... they proceeded to open up their bags and bring out all kinds of foods ....a picnic on their laps that they were offering to the driver.... telling him what they had for him etc....and the driver was chatting away, laughing, turning to make his opinions in the course of the back and forth between them.... and in so doing....TAKING HIS EYES OFF OF THE ROAD !!!!!! I got up when we came to a red light and leaned over and in a normal speaking tone, I told him I didn't appreciate him asking me to leave a seat just so he could have his regular food and conversation..... He screamed at me to not tell him what to do.... and that this particular woman was getting off soon and yet another woman was coming on who was the one with the bad leg.... yes 1st woman exited and another took her place and the 3 of them continued to talk loudly without letup about the driver's Mothers operations and bodily functions.... Gory movies with Brains exploding onto floors ? and best bargains in all kinds of products and the websites etc..... Blah Blah Blah..... The point is YOUR DRIVER is distracted when he takes his eyes off the road to engage in conversation with his regulars..... He was incredibly rude and potentially put all the riders in danger with his disregard to everyones safety. I wonder if he is the same driver who used to subject his riders to his favorite movie that he would blast onto the movie screen with sound blaring..... Haven't seen him in a long time....or maybe I did today ? And while I'm writing...I'll tell you about another riding adventure with your bus NYC to MONROE from Port Authority a few weeks back.... Again I boarded the bus sat behind the driver and waited for the bus to finish loading.... While sitting there I was smelling cigaret smoke.... I then saw a woman standing in front of the bus puffing away on her cigaret.... I wondered if this was allowed.... but oh well we'll be leaving soon so whatever.... Well apparently she was one of your drivers.... and she boarded the bus sitting in the favored seat to chat with the driver (aisle right) and they blabbed back and forth again with him taking his eyes of the road the whole way.... But the real disgust is this..... She told him she had this whole Camera kit that she was trying to sell....Cannon camera, Tripod, 3 different lenses, shoulder bag for camera and equipment.... saying it's for wedding photography ....everything you would want or need..... finally after saying he might be interested.... the driver said.... where did you get all that...why don't you want it.... she answered I found it on MY BUS....... then saying I wasn't going to turn it in F--- that ! So if you look to see if anyone in the last let's say 6 months was asking about their camera equipment that they had forgotten on one of your buses.... It's with the female hispanic driver who gets out one town before Monroe.... where she lives with her girlfriend.... and takes care of her disabled niece.... I could go on and on....but I already have..... Nasty..... Disgraceful and Shameless Behavior..... Is that what a union job affords one..... " I'll just do and behave however I want......just try and fire me" That's how riding your Coach buses have started to feel..... WOW. I now will start traveling with a video phone and will be posting this online..... I won't be writing letters anymore. Bus left the stop early and didn't even stop at the right stop (Cc lot north campus). Driver refused to pick up 7 stranded passengers, all of whom were there EARLY for a 5:00pm pick up. Customer service hotlines are all conveniently down too. Pathetic service. Bring some more competition to Ithaca and kill this poor excuse for a business already. I rode the Owego to Binghamton Bus today on 4/6/2018 the 5 20 bus it came late no problem As the bus was pulling up the driver started to speedup like he didn't see me . He stopped I got on and words were said. This is the 2nd negative encounter I've had with this particular White Bus driver. I will post this terrible service if I have to to other social networks . The worst experience of my life. Firstly, the bus was overbooked and so when I walked in, we were barraged by insults by other riders screaming at us for showing up. The driver was very sketchy, yelling at my father to just leave and go away, while I started freaking out by everything I was seeing. Then suddenly, noticing the crowd of Cornell students getting angrier, they magically made another bus appear and half the customers it turned out were not even going to Ithaca (what the heck! and there is a ticket check right before you board so now understandably everyone stood confused). Praying for this panic-inducing nightmare to end, the driver continued to berate us, customers, as we waited patiently to board. I and another girl were just crying outside we were so scared, and my dad refused to leave until I had a seat, even while this sketchy driver continued to yell at him to go away. None of that seemed okay whatsoever- what sort of customer service is this? Anyways, boarding the bus, it just reeked of weed (seriously, and when the smell seemed to go away, it was like someone was actively puffing in the back). The seats did not recline, there was no wifi, nothing- and I was going off of what was advertised. Still, I was praying things would get better. Nuh-uh! This was advertised as a nonstop bus but an hour into the trip, the bus just stopped, the driver got out, and started talking to his friends outside. Wait what? Some people got on the bus and ended up getting off an hour later somewhere- I still do not know if they had tickets or not. Next, we suddenly ended up in Monticello- again.... this was a non-stop bus. The bus was advertised as reaching Ithaca at 11:30. We had reached Monticello at 10:30 so I knew there was no way in hell that was happening. A few people boarded our bus, and one guy (another friend of the driver) boarded carrying a garbage bag and yelling at passengers on the bus. He put his garbage bag on one seat and sat somewhere else. But we were off again- hopefully, we wouldn't stop again right? Wrong! Oh and this is where I started panicking again-the driver was driving in the middle of the yellow lines in the road- if there were people coming on the other side, game over! He swerved, as my butt settled into the painful seat, and I closed my eyes praying that this nightmare would end. But no, we stopped at Binghamton, where the driver gets off, his friend with the trash bag gets off, and half the bus leaves- at this point, I am super confused when all of a sudden, a hoard of people board the bus. Now keep in mind I had an online ticket that was fine in NYC, and so I had forgotten that we would need another ticket check. WRONG! The drivers switched and luckily this next guy was a nicer dude- he noticed the tired college students and began by being transparent and telling us "Okay guys, so when we go to Ithaca we will be stopping at Green Street, West, and North". Wow! Transparency! Amazing! But then he goes around asking us for our tickets, on this nonstop bus. Wouldn't it make sense to just ask the new passengers for tickets? But its fine, and he notices 90% of us do not have physical tickets. Also we all had our tickets properly checked in NYC with the numbers recorded. So when he sees my ticket, he didn't give me a hard time (I had an online ticket) and just kinda moved on. But two girls sitting near me also had online tickets and he just lectured them and everyone else about having to print their tickets next time. So obviously everyone asks me why my online ticket was fine. I honestly still don't know why my ticket was chill so I started blasting loud music to get through the rest of this trip. This driver also drove in the middle of the road the whole way through and I am so happy we never crashed. After getting off the bus, I honestly was just happy I made it.... at 1 AM!!!!! 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!! read more

I've taken this bus service a couple times now. Decent company. Equivalent service to major lines such as Greyhound and Peter Pan, but they serve really out of the way places. They are efficient if a bit behind schedule. The drivers are competent, but perhaps not very friendly. Same with the ticket counter personnel. read more

Believe all of these horrible reviews. I wish I had read them prior to purchasing a ticket as I would have changed my mind and paid the extra money for Greyhound. Booked my son on this line - actually we booked MegaBus, but they don't actually go into Ithaca, so it's on the Coach USA/Shortline bus. Horrible experience right from the beginning. MegaBus fails to tell you that you have to take your reservation to the ticket counter and get a ticket. They will not allow you to do this until 1 hour before your bus. If you were unaware of this and arrived 15 minutes prior to departure as they recommend on the website, you would miss the bus due to everyone trying to do this. The bus is not nice compared to actual MegaBus or for that matter, Greyhound. They were late leaving NYC. When they finally arrived in Binghamton, it was supposed to be for 10 minutes. They were told there would be a new driver at that point. Yup as so many others have stated, the driver was late. And not just a few minutes late. As I'm writing this, he was supposed to arrive in Ithaca at 3:15, however, it is now 2:45 and they haven't even left Binghamton yet due to the driver not showing up. As Ithaca has no bus terminal now (that's a whole other ridiculous story), there is no where to go and wait for the bus to arrive. I feel bad for anyone in ithaca waiting for this crappy bus to arrive as it's 17 degrees but feels like 6 degrees due to the windchill in Ithaca today. Unfortunately we booked a round trip ticket so he will get to experience this crappy bus experience all over again when he returns back to NYC next week. We will never use them again. read more

After riding the shortline twice, both times from Ithaca - NYC, I can honestly say I will never again make that mistake, having been subjected to possibly the worst service imaginable. Sorry both stories are kinda long and detailed, but they show just how bad the service on this bus is. The first time I rode the shortline, it was the day everyone was let out for midterms and about 4pm so the bus was packed. The bus ride seemed to go smooth for the first hour or so before the bus driver literally started screaming into his intercom that "someone" doesn't belong on this bus. He pulled over at the nearest gas station and re-checked everyones ticket because apparently he was a ticket short. After checking everyones ticket he sat back in his seat and kept driving for another 20minutes or so. Then he started screaming again saying that he's 1 ticket short again! He pulls the bus over ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY and says "Were not moving until I either get the missing ticket or the person who doesn't belong on this bus gets off." We sat at a standstill on the side of the highway for 20 minutes with the driver checking and re-checking our tickets before he finally moved. Once we finally got to the halfway point pit stop, an hour behind schedule, his "assistant" got on the bus and checked the tickets. His assistant, luckily, knew how to add and told him they had the right amount of tickets. The second( and last ) time I rode shortline, it was a couple days after spring break started and I took the 4:50AM bus to the city. I was standing right outside the bus when it pulled up. The driver, an old looking man with a white beard/hair opens the door and as he walks out, completely ignores me as I try and hand him my ticket and walks down the block to smoke a cig. Mind you, the bus terminal is closed at this hour so just because this driver wanted to go for a quick smoke before checking my ticket, I had to wait an extra 20-30mins standing outside in the cold. When the driver finally got back, he ignored me yet again, walks on the bus and shuts the door in my face to check everyone's tickets whose already on there, leaving me and another lady standing out in the cold for another 5-10 minutes or so, already 30minutes BEHIND schedule. When the driver finally opened the door and checked my ticket and the ladies ticket behind me he just stood there staring at me, as if I was doing something wrong. After about 10 seconds passed of him just staring at me awkwardly I finally just asked him "could you please open the cargo door so I can drop my luggage off." to which he replied " Hey give me a fucking break" and he stared at me even angrier than before. Thinking he was probably just having a bad night I told him "sorry, I didn't think I was yelling. Thanks for opening the door" and walked on the bus and sat in the second row right behind him. After we arrived in binghampton, things just went downhill. He told me that my ticket from binghampton to the city wouldn't work because it was a "reservation" and not a ticket and I need to buy a ticket at the desk. Confused, I told him I bought my ticket and that was my reservation to be on the bus.. In a packed bus he called me a fucking idiot and told me to learn how to read. Trying to avoid a conflict I told him "I've done this before. I'll talk to the new driver when he gets on, thanks." At that point he called me a "fucking idiot" once again and told me to get off of "his bus." It took every ounce of energy in me to not get up and hit the poor old guy, but I walked off the bus and talked to the new driver who let me back on without an issue with my "reservation." read more

The Platinum service between Ithaca and NYC is totally worth it. The non stop service took 4.30 hours and given that we left from Port Authority, we were out of the city fairly quickly. And this is coming from someone who used to hate riding Shortline for this route. read more

Unbelievably bad service. Ordered a ticket online that switched the destinations, and immediately called to get this sorted out. Not only did I have to deal with a horribly rude woman, but she forwarded me to an ANSWERING MACHINE. I called back and told her this and she quickly dismissed me. I've been calling again and again for hours. Unfortunately this is the only bus service that will take me from NYC to Ithaca, otherwise this service would never get any of my money. This is a good service except at the times when the most people are riding it. If it's not a peak day you will get a comfortable bus, but if it is a peak day you will likely not get a bus from Shortline but an uncomfortable one from their affiliate Suburban. Even booking the Ithaca Platinum that is advertised as being really premium in a lot of ways won't stop you from getting one of those buses with uncomfortable seats, cramped legroom, and no headrests and where the power outlets are harder to find and reach. I know those buses are necessary to transport all the students at the beginning and end of college breaks, but I really don't think they belong on the Platinum even if the alternative is that the Platinum sells out much earlier. I would actually pay extra for a Platinum ticket that guaranteed me one of Shortline's buses if that was an option. I bet enough people would if they knew the ways in which the Suburbans are different that Shortline could make an extra several hundred dollars selling tickets for a few of their own buses at a slightly higher price. So basically, if it's not an extra busy day for travel, this is a great choice, but if it is an extra busy day you should probably choose an OurBus. read more

I don't understand all the hate this company gets. It has good, reliable service between Ithaca and NYC. The drivers seem pretty nice to me. And it has stops right on Cornell Campus and at Collegetown as well as the downtown bus station. Trailways and Greyhound only stop at the downtown bus station. It also has more frequent and convenient service. And it is cheaper and more convenient than Campus to Campus. This is one of the best bus companies I know, so I don't see why everyone else hates it so much. read more

Excellent left on time, clean bus and nice and quiet. The bus driver told the passengers to keep cell phone conversation to a minimal and any other entertainment, no smoking no drinking alcohol read more
