If you grew up in NYC, chances are you've been to the Coliseum at least once in your life. And if you haven't, you truly missed out. It's not what it used to be, and now it's officially closed but the memories will live on forever. I used to work at the Hall of Fame, where we sold magazines, CDs, and DVDs. If it was part of the music industry, we had it. Right next door was Julian printing custom T-shirts. Black house studios where music was created. There were sneaker spots, Sammy selling leather coats and clothing, jewelry vendors, perfume and cologne booths, and of course the food court. You couldn't walk through without hearing music, seeing fashion, and feeling culture. From the Jamaican beef patty spot to the hat stores, the Coliseum wasn't just a mall it was a community. I did most of my school shopping here because we were able to negotiate prices. It was a place where people hustled, connected, and created memories. It's especially heartbreaking knowing future kids won't get to experience what we experienced growing up. The Jamaica Coliseum will truly, truly be missed. There will be one last celebration on the Ave on February 21st from 12 PM to 5 PM. If you're reading this, don't miss your final chance to experience Jamaica Ave the way we all remember it. Thank you, Jamaica Coliseum, for everything.

RIP Jamaica Colosseum mall…read more I wrote an article about its closure. Growing up in Brooklyn, most of my mall memories come from Kings Plaza. From what I've seen and reported, that place always had a huge range--budget-friendly spots right next to higher-end stuff, tons of selection, and services that actually felt worth it. I talked to a bunch of vendors there, and they were straight-up neighborly and friendly. You had everything: the food court, fresh jackets, shoes, jewelry, you name it. A real wide variety of things all under one roof. And now it's all gone.

The store has some bargains on men sweat pants and t shirts, kids clothes, women clothes etc. The store has been on jamaica Avenue for decades. The store doesn't have as much as it used to have. But it still a decent Jean's and sneakers shop with 2 levels ,up stairs and ground level. You can find the sneakers upstairs. The store also have a walk of shame in front of the store with pictures of people who have been captured in photos stealing. You also have to check in your bags at the counter when you walk in.

I looked at several brands and styles. The ones on displayed on the wall didn't appeal to me except for the same Nike model I had at home that needed to be thrown out. I was going to ask for it but I couldn't find any employee down there.i don't know if that's due to COVID-19, hence the huge amount of shoes on the shelves. I couldn't find any Nike sneaker that I like and available in my size. I started looking at the Reebok sneakers. I found 2 that I liked, a running shoe and a high top. The high top fit better so I decided on that one. I went upstairs to the cashier to pay. There was no line. I asked about return policy and was given an answer. My purchase was rung up and I paid. While I was downstairs I had put my coat check "ticket" down nearby. An employee who was doing what I believe was an inventory check with a laptop reminded me to hang out to it so I get my stuff back.

Would give 0 stars if I could. ROXX on Jamaica Avenue has the worst customer service, for returns…read more They are only super nice when you come in to purchase items encouraging you to buy more stuff. So greedy! BUYERS BEWARE: they only accept returns within a narrow 7-day window, you MUST have the original receipt--NO EXCEPTIONS, and there are absolutely NO REFUNDS!!--just store credit. This policy is so outdated. This further substantiates just how greedy they are!! To make matters worse, they don't even have fitting rooms, so you have to hope things fit or change in your car. I don't live nearby, so this was a hassle. Returning items is another nightmare: you're treated with suspicion, checked at the front door, and asked to leave your bags by security. They don't even give you a bag to put returned items in, treating you like a criminal for returning items because they don't fit. The clothes are cheaply made and tore when I tried them on. And to top it off, they have two stores that apparently don't communicate, so each one pushes you to the other, "HOT TOPIC" for exchanges, because one store doesn't carry much of my size when I attempted to exchange items, they have little inventory in one store, and more inventory in the other. This was hands down the worst shopping experience I've ever had in my life they need to stop being so darn greedy & nasty!! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK because some of the clothes may be cute but prices are jacked up and the quality is worse than fashionova... good luck, with returns and having to travel to both stores to get your credit back and they will give you a major hassle if the item was brought in the other store to get credit causing you to be a human YO-YO traveling back and forth between their stores. Lastly, They open when they feel like it--Sunday? Try 1 p.m. or later! Honestly, ROXX, this isn't retail; it's an obstacle course. I had enough not worth the experience AT ALL, hated dealing with them.

She truly cares about her customers and their needs. The prices are very fair when compared to similar vendors in the popular desi areas. It's located on Hillside Ave easily accessible via public transportation (bus and train). Surely can drive as well there's paid street parking and lucky enough can find a spot in the residential area. I've visited the previous shop and now they took over the store next door to make it into a one big shop. The store is beautifully renovated with modern sleek design and I love the flower wall as soon as you walk in on your left. Compared to the previous store this is a huge upgrade not only for the space, decor but as well as the collection of goods. The store has been divided into 3 huge sections (one for men's and kid's wear), women's collection and more women's + kids collection in the back of the store along with some Islamic home decor items). Let's not forget the flower wall it's great for selfies post trying out some beautiful outfits. They offer gorgeous bridal outfits, saris, lengha's, hijab, dupatta, salwaar kameez, desi jewelry sets, nose rings, earrings, anklets, bangles, desi shoes, desi purse, tailoring services on premises, customization for any outfit, entire section dedicated to men's desi wear and kids for matching outfits. The kids attire is absolutely adorable I love how beautifully they can be paired with their parents for any occasion. Not only they specialize in desi collection but the owner of this place is an amazing henna and makeup artist. Her prices are very fair and the service she provides is totally worth every dime you spend. This place offers an outfit for any occasion you can further compliment your entire look accordingly with their accessories. Highly recommend this shop!!

On Sunday Feb 1st 2026 I took my daughter's shopping at the Primark Location in Jamaica Queens NY …read more What started out as a fun day with mom turned into a scary situation. The system in Primark was acting up. Unbeknownst to me I paid for $345 worth of merchandise with my card . The money was removed from my card however I was told I did not pay and that I could not leave with my merchandise. Like any credit card transaction there is a hold placed on the card until the transaction is finalized with the bank . The company wanted me to pay another $345 dollars advising me that they don't have their money so it's not their fault and I should take it up with my bank . I advised them that I paid after speaking to management and that I was not leaving without my merchandise and I left . Upon leaving I was followed down the block by a male who identified himself as a detective . In order to not scare my kids I went back to the store however called the police to help me because I paid for my merchandise. When the police arrived I thought I was going to get help however the store reported that I stole the merchandise and I need to be arrested . While my children were alone with me I asked that my family was given a little grace to get to me as I paid for my items and this is ridiculous. I threatened to sue and advised the cops that if they were taking me in I would like a lawyer . With that being said the store manger then states that I didn't intend on stealing and it's not my fault it's the banks fault . It was resolved with them taking back everything I bought for my girls and still have not received my money back . I used the same card in other stores down the block and in the area without issue . The store treated me as though I was a criminal embarrassed myself and traumatized my children , using intimidation of there male staff for merchandise that was no longer theirs because it was paid for . Fast forward to Tuesday Feb 3rd 2026 the transaction has been finalized as I initially stated it would be leaving myself and my children without the merchandise we shopped for or the money to shop elsewhere. I was banned from the store and criminalized in front of other customers on that day.
