This is a 1st for me commenting on ANY store let alone a manager of one. I wish I could give HIGHER star ratings for this GREAT man, Carl, Mgr. @ Massapequa location of New York. I've personally shopped for over 60 yrs. plus. I've come across many managers..good & not so good. This individual is getting the medal of honor by me & my son for being a fine specimen of mankind with a sense of duty/responsibility w/ a solid/honest character. Hard to find today. He's always pleasant even when faced w/incompetant mgr.'s working under him. That's a tough thing to say, but accurate. They should have similar work ethics to make the main man, Carl's work enviornment running like a top! That is not the case I endured for 3 days. I say thank you to Carl of Massapequa for handling very frustrating 3 days I've had UNTIL he got told about it. HE should be noticed by TJX's corp. The highest offices of TJX, hopefully, will read this & do the right thing by him. This was a very tiring, 'blood pressure rising' affair that was NOT handled by his people, three of which I won't name. UNTIL Carl became AWARE of the problem from Friday p.m. to just THIS afternoon, I was sick over it. It was THIS competent, intelligent, thoughful man, Carl, who handled it AS IT SHOULD'VE BEEN handled sooner than today. The manager that Friday 5 p.m. shift who was CLEARLY advised of incident immed. after happening. Even after going 3x's to find where my belongings were, I went again hoping to locate employee who took charge of my possessions to ask where they were. THIS was what was asked of each of these mgrs. to DO but they did NOT do. I located employee the last of 3 visits there & asked her what she did w/ my bag, money, etc. She brushed me off with, 'I gave it to a cashier since I was leaving my shift..." WHAT nonsense. Employees know protocol for safeguarding customer's things....BRING to mgr. for safekeeping. I drove 3 x's (60 mi r/t) to TRY & get ONE Mgr. to CALL this employee but they ALL dismissed my request. They were asked to call the manager, Carl & inform him also. THEY DID NOT& lied to me that they would...No one even called me @ home yet asked for my # & said they would keep me informed til found. NOT ONE CALL TO MY HOME all day Sat. I waited. My bag, car keys, 150 cash, credit cards all inside a 500 dollar FRYE handbag, All 3 mgr.'s would not call that employee @ home who could tell them that very 1st night WHERE THE HECK SHE PUT MY POSSESSIONS. 1st Mgr. told me 3 x's file a police report/petty larceny on the employee RATHER THAN CALL HER & ASK THAT VERY SIMPLE QUESTION!!! ONLY after demanding that mgr. Sat. 7:30 p.m. to call Carl RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, did things begin to happen. I got tired of her indifference & 'rolling eyes' @ me as if she was doing me a favor having to convey this whole incident AGAIN to this 3rd Mgr. because the other 2 didn't do their due diligence....JUST call employee & Carl & get the situation in hand. I waited 1 more day, today Sunday, to hopefully hear from Carl who was finally called by my insistence w/that last Sat. night Mgr. I won't name names. They know who they are. THIS day put it OVER the top for me. Carl, who I've come to admire w/all the work he does w/some incompetent employees doe not owe anything else this company. The owe him. For if it wasn't for him today, I wouldn't shop there again.
He called & had my bag. He deserves a medal of honor for handling this a.s.a.p. & DOING WHAT THE PRIOR 3 MGR.'S SHOULD HAVE DONE. If it wasn't for Carl, I would still be upset & probably not shop there again. I can only say HIS competency gives me hope that things will change & those that didn't do the right thing, will get schooled in 'the right way to do business! Some of these gals have nothing but air between their ears, apparently. There is no excuse for laziness or 'rolling eye' behavior, etc. None.
I can spot good employees a mile away & likewise, bad ones. This mgr. Carl carriers a LARGE load working there because of those under him that don't pull their weight. I've seen that Mgr. actually jump behind registers to fill in for those who didn't show up for work & still carry out his/her duties. He should be compensated greatly for his due diligence. Hey, TJX...show YOUR sincere appreciation for a one of a kind great employee you have under your umbrella. Anytime I've shopped @ that location, his friendly, helpful personality comes through which in turn keeps me shopping there. Clean bathrooms, clean store, organized even after this XMAS season these stores are not easy to keep clean...HE does that & believe me, I know. I'm a personal shopper! He's more than a fine Mgr. but a fine man. Will contact corp.after New Year's w/high 5's to a competent manager they have. Glad to have met this individual in my walk of life.
