Upon arrival, you're hit with the nostalgic feeling of walking into a toy store as a child. So in other words it's a toy store for the big boys and girls that stand behind the blue line. Jackie was an absolute sweetheart. But, I was waiting in line to get rung up only to watch the woman at the register completely ignore me and attend to two other customers. I'm shocked to see reviews about bad service. I've been here many times over the past 2.5 years and never had bad service. I'm always asked if I need help- I got asked if I needed help by at least 4 employees during my last visit. I mostly have purchased apparel from here but I've also picked up some work things for my fiance and presents. Most recently I stopped by for a gift for a friend who graduated the Trooper academy. It's convenient to be able to look around and get these things in person instead of online. They have a really cute selection of first responder christmas ornaments. My only complaint is that the quality of some (not all) of their shirts is lacking. The designs look like they'll fall off in one wash. Other shirts I've had for years and they're still looking great. read more

I have spent numerous time in this store and have NEVER witnessed at any time that people of color or from various sectors of law enforcement have been ill-treated or treated any differently than ANYONE else. There is, in fact, only so much space in the store so I assume stock is based on volume/popularity. But I have also seen that in the rate event that they don't have something you need, they offer to get it asap or assist you in where else to get it so you don't have to wait. I have also seen when they request ID because the purchase is something official and is never based on someone's appearance. IT is the law and professional law enforcement personnel all over the State are glad they do it every time. The Cop Shop wants to make sales, of course, but they are so much more about SERVICE. As an AFRICAN AMERICAN law enforcement officer in nyc, I found this establishment to be lacking greatly in customer service and KNOWLEDGE of the various branches of uniformed personnel. People of color should not be carded based on appearance. All patrons should be carded upon entry to prevent civilians from impersonation. Furthermore, this establishment does NOT provide NYCDOC with the same service as PD/etc and the availability of merchandise for DOC is limited to none. Why is that? Maybe the staff here is uneducated as to what the agency entails and the importance of the position we hold in law enforcement. It is IMPERATIVE that the staff is RETRAINED immediately. I am disgusted by how my colleague was treated and I refuse to purchase anything here again. read more

I have been going to this shop for years as a member of law enforcement and spouse of law enforcement. The service has always been exemplary. The stock in store is excellent and they've helped me order items I needed they don't usually stock. This shop is open to the public but specific law enforcement items such as uniform items I have always needed to show ID for. This is standard with all the law enforcement shops I've purchased from including the shop run by the department. I have witnessed a great deal of compassion from the owners of this establishment over the years. They have run countless fundraisers and drives to assist law enforcement and civilians during difficult times. I also had to run to them before attending the funeral for PO Ramos because I'd forgotten my white gloves at work, not only did they give me gloves but they gave me a whole bag of mourning bands they handmade. I love this shop and will continue to go to them for all my needs. They have a great kids section too and I've made some really nice baby shower gift baskets for friends and coworkers in several different agencies. read more

I did not want to even give this store 1 star. Went there recently and was treated VERY rudely. The Officers that came in while I was waiting for help were treated differently than I was. I had an FDNY EMS jacket on and it seemed as though I was "below" law enforcement. I was there for 3 pins for a Class A uniform, I was told I couldn't take a picture of the pins I was about to buy to make sure that they were the correct ones. The other pin was a name plate and I was treated rudely again when I told her the name "too quickly". I will NEVER go there again. read more

Excellent store. Always helpful & friendly staff. I have bought shirts, a jacket, wallets, belt keepers, gloves, ties and several other items here at various times and they have always had what I needed and they're only 5 minutes away from me which is another plus. I have never had a negative experience here. Yes, sometimes they are quite busy and have a long line but I don't consider a lone line a negative for a store. They give personal one on one service for all of their customers on line so this is understandable to me. The only thing I would mention is that the last few times I have gone there, they don't have any mourning bands, they always say they will be making them soon. Please make some mourning bands! I find this place pretty useless if you're actually on the job. The place caters more to buffs buying apparel for their families, friends, and relatives and not to actual first responders. In uniform apparel, I found their selection very narrow, and they did not offer the diversity of brands found at other shops. Additionally, their uniforms are kept in the back so you can't even see them without asking. That said, their leather selection is one of the best I've seen around. Their staff is also rather friendly but not the most knowledgeable. Some items they'll have, others they won't. It's worth stopping in locally, otherwise call first. read more

It's all about the dollar here. Been going there a while dealing with their overpriced stuff out of the close proximity to my home and ease of it all. An expensive duty jacket was purchased here and was only worn for about an hour, as it was too big. When I tried to exchange it and even agreed to pay a little extra with exchange they utterly refused claiming it was "used". I explained it was worn for an hour and was still pristine. They didn't want to hear it and refused. I hope the money they saved by not accommodating a loyal customer was worth it. Over the course of my career I could've easily seen myself spending another grand there. Not anymore. Done. read more
