I like this place , I really do , and must admit that most employees are really friendly , and some quite considerate . Because of the high turnover , one does encounter employees who could learn some manners , but that's life . I now stop here when shopping at LIDL nearby , as I usually find something interesting ( 95 % of my purchases are food products ) .... Now , my issues : 1 ) This HG gets the rudest clientele of any I know ; maybe only 20 % , but that makes it an adventure every time . 2 ) Dogs in the shopping carts ! The do owners are insufferably nasty , and the staff needs to be empowered to assertively deal with them ! 3 ) For over a year the men's room has needed a foot gripper , a very simple matter . I'm at odds with this HomeGoods location. On one hand, you have just so. much. stuff! From holiday decor, to pillows, to bathroom accessories, to kitchen supplies, glassware, flowers, candles... Damn! Home-inspired head's a-spinning. Most sections all appeared neat (for Homegoods. This ain't Bloomingdales), if not pristine (they keep the glassware in tip top shape!) The Halloween section was on point and if only I didn't have to bring stuff back on a plane, I would have stocked up. And then you walk into the food section and all hell has broken loose. I can't tell you how many packages of snacks I checked the date on only to find the item long expired. Or broken. Or opened and sampled (what the hell is with people and how were they raised?!) The biggest joke was the clearance area which featured items they probably could only give away to a sugar-starved child. It's pretty much a disgrace. Love going to home goods. Whenever I need something for the home, for a discounted price, I try checking here first. I mostly go here to look at the kitchen goods that tend to be at a cheaper price. They also sell food that you don't see everywhere from snack to teas and coffees. They also make great gift items. The store always has something new each visit as the merchandise changes to the season and if there are holidays during the time of year. I always check out the clearance section of each area to see if I can snag some good finds. It's also great to go here just as holidays finish since the seasonal items go on clearance soon after. That's when I stock up on Christmas gift wrap. Service can be spotty, but generally most of the workers are nice. It is located in a shopping center in the back, so there is plenty of parking. read more

Moved to Merrick about Two years ago. Try to go to Home Goods a few times a month. At times to shop and at times to just look around. I understand that things there are sometimes outdated, have a small crack or just needs to be sold. But most recently, I saw more than a few items that were pretty much destroyed but still on sale for full price. Items like these should be on clearance or an additional 50% off. Halloween items that should have light up eyes, have only one eye. Items that should have two feet only has one, another item the whole bottom front was destroyed. In addition to that.... the bathroom are beyond disgusting. Get a cleaning company or hire a cleaning crew. I don't believe a sales person should have to clean after people who have disgusting bathroom habits. But this is unacceptable. read more

The store is always a mystery of fun....love wondering the isles and seeing what new tchotchkes I need.

The manager on Duty was extremely rude. I went into buy an area rug. After looking through the rugs, I had some questions about the imperfections on a particular one. The manager came by and immediately dismissed me stating "this is new merchandise and there will be no markdowns" then he proceeded to walk away. The rug was not even priced and no where did I even ask or mention a mark down. Following, I went to the Homegoods in westbury. I was helped immediately and was treated like a human being. The rep offered me a store card to save 10% off my order, answered all of my questions and brought the rug out to my vehicle. For a better customer experience, I suggest visiting the Westbury store rather than Merrick Store; especially if this awful rude manager is on duty. read more

Good store but super rude employee. A tall woman with braids was plain mean to my friend and I and even cursed at us just because we were laughing pretty loudly at something we were talking about. She told us that we were being stupid and told us to leave the store. My friend told her to have a good day as we walked away and she just scoffed and ignored her. We ended up leaving the store and buying what we needed at target. read more

This is pretty good home goods! Wide aisles, large selection and it's kept pretty neat. Not crowded on a Saturday night and fast check out. I like HomeGoods because all of the items are in good shape and are great brands. I got Calvin Klein towels and other decorations at a huge discount. I will be back. read more

This Home Goods has a large parking lot shared with Best Market and a variety of other small stores. Great selection of stuff for the home with an ever changing selection of products. The store is kept clean with an ambitious staff putting items back on the shelves, I almost got run over a couple of times and had to avoid certain isles. But it's good to see hard working staff. I like their outdoor garden decorations. Picked up a bird house and a colorful Mexican ceramic candle holder for a house warming gift. read more

I have been to multiple home goods locations and Merrick is by far my favorite one. I think they do a great job organizing all the aisles. The teapot, cake stand section is organized my color coding. I was very impressed when looking through everything. My item was scratched and the manager knocked off $30 off the original price which I thought was fair. Especially that it was visible. Wow - this store is AMAZING! I only liked HomeGoods in the past - mostly because other locations were just OK. I thought they were all going to be messy, cramped stores with broken merchandise for sale lumped in piles. But alas - this store feels like a lovely place to be! Everything is laid out super well. No broken items scattered about. No one here throws stuff on the floor - and they have SO MUCH! And things are CHEAP! I was really impressed. From gardening items, to bath items, gourmet food, childrens items, bakeware, glassware, artisan glass, storage containers, and really beautiful (unbroken) furniture - and so much more! Wow - if only I had more room - and more money - I might have never left this store. Plus staff are really nice and friendly. The store is amazingly clean and polished. I'm like a kid in a candy store. This HomeGoods location is well stocked! I was able to purchase a few vases for my apt for about $16 each which made me over the moon happy. They had a ton of wall photos and nice frames to choose from. The home cooking section was extensive too! I will definitely be back! read more

Nice store i usually like it but my last shopping experience was a nightmare. Went to buy Gift Baskets for the Holidays. The girl working the section was very rude. There was one I really liked for my Dr.s's office but was not in the greatest shape. I decided to buy it anyway. When I got to the register the the cellophane tore.When I asked for another they were not helpful at all .I asked for a discount being I needed to re wrap it.I was offered $2 off. Really $2 . I recently purchased a rug from Home Goods in Merrick. The store was well run, neat and organized. The associate, Kevin whot helped me with my purchase was very accommodating. He took down two rugs so I could see them on the floor (it is difficult when they are hanging and often they look different when flat on the floor). He was very patient with me. I am never going back there again!!!!! I went there to return something I had purchased in late January. One of the items did not have a tag when I purchased it, so the cashier had the manager create a tag which took about 20 minutes. The cashier did not start the return until the manger gave her the tag. After waiting 30 minutes for a simple return. The cashier informed me that she was giving me a store credit because it was purchased last month and that it was 5 days after the return policy. I purchased the items on my tjmaxx card and asked that the credit be issued to my card. The cashier was rude and refused. I then asked to speak to the manager and the manger was worst than the cashier. I explained that due to the several snow storms and COVID-19 restrictions that I was unable to get to the store any sooner. She said something under her breath and said that was the policy and told the cashier to give me a gift card and walked away. Why should I accept a gift card when I now have to pay interest on a purchase that was returned. Insane!!!!! Really well-organized and not a hot mess, even on New Year's Day.

Shopping at HomeGoods is a hit or miss. If the sun is at the right equinox in the sky and the stars are aligned for you, you can score a major find--4 matching chairs, a perfect accent rug or furniture piece and a decorative item to compliment and it all. Otherwise, it's a bargain hunt that will have you trotting to all their store locations trying to find a match that hopefully isn't damaged but in perfect condition. Happy shopping! read more

I visited the store a few weeks ago and had to take the time to post a review. I had returned an item that I lost the receipt for and the manager, Dylan (I believe) was very attentive along with the gentleman working on the cashier. They both did everything they could to help me look up the item for a refund. Their store is by far one of the ones most organized which is why I make the effort to take the trip there. I also find they have good variety and there's a good response time with the reps on the floor if you have any questions or need assistance. I bought a lamp with a cloth shade and noticed the flaws in shade when I put the bulb in. Retuned it to the store for a replacement but there wasn't any. The Manager was rude and would not discount the lamp. She said it was nothing they caused. In the past 8 years I have spent a ton of money in that store.
