The sunrise mall is one of the remaining ghost like malls. Once known for sidelining small local shops now these behemoth shopping malls can't get people to show up. Quality is a hunt here when here. Most things are the worst dime store cr** shipped over for mass bargain hunting young consumers. Some nice young people still have jobs and are pleasant and offering customer service. Nothing wrong with the people. The mall concept has been knocked into the Stone Age by online retail. There goes our Nassau county property tax base. Nothing coming in from amazon to offset our lost school tax. Thanks city planners for keeping the internet free and billing grandma in her cape cod for the increase. Sure grandma and the new young families not working with kids at home can fill the gap. Sure. Any champagne buckets? I'll keep looking. Not looking good America. Progress is here and the gluttony of American consumers looking for cheaper and easier consumer goods looks like its wiping us out. Seek and find. Success ... found an extremely attractive stainless steel ice bucket in one of the stores for New Year's day champagne drinking when I get back. Good looking and will be nice to put some good champagne in. Breaking out the flutes that always break. While doing this review in the parking lot... Westfield owns this mall and it reminds me of all the malls in Florida. It's super newly renovated and has everything except decent stores. There are some new perks to enjoy but not many. The dining options are few also. They have your basic department stores here: Macy's, Sears, Dicks. They have Pandora, H&M, Aeropostale, Journeys, Spencer's, Hot Topic ,Justice, New York and Company and some no frills shoe and boutique stores I've never seen. If you're looking to do some Christmas shopping without the hassle of Roosevelt Field and the South Shore, this is a good idea. I did not see a Gap or Victoria Secret. The mall features some cool bells and whistles. A Koi Fish pond, Tablet Strollers to rent for your mini me's, A Large Family Bathroom and play area. They cater to Suffolk county families here. The food court is super small. Charlie's, China Express buffet, Taco Bell and some hot dog / pretzel stand. I recognized the famous 90's buffet Sbarro. They've got to do better with the food. There's also a Latin restaurant with outdoor seating called Joubilie. Random. The major selling point here is they have a brand new Dave and Busters !!!!!!!! I went there for an hour to kill time and it was awesome. read more

Outdated mall! There isn't much to see here anymore. Many stores have shut down. Half of the second floor is empty, especially the food court! Misleading directory! We came to this mall to make a return at Finishline, The directory told us it is located on the first floor, but no, it was actually on the second floor! Wasted time walking around the whole first floor! Looks and feels dirty! Unbelievable how it is still open! More good reasons to shop on line. I was disappointed in the atmosphere. This mall desperately needs revitalization. read more

This mall doesn't compare to some of the other malls in the area especially Roosevelt Field Mall. Most of the time it's not very crowded just mostly a teen hangout area and the quite a few closed stores. But it's close and convenient and I go there once in awhile to do a little quick shopping and they also a couple of decent not great restaurants to eat at. read more

Wanted to take a walk but it was 30 degrees outside, so we checked out Sunrise Mall. Place is a perfect backdrop for a post apocalyptic movie. I think if there were more than a dozen people that would be a lot. Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Goods and Raymor & Flanagan were the only stores open and once again - not a whole lot of people in those stores either. It was eerie and I was waiting for a zombie to come charging out of one of the empty stores. read more

This mall is depressing. It looks like the 1990s died in here and took all of the stores with it. There's many vacant stores, including one of the anchor tenants. The stores that are still open by some miracle are depressingly void of customers and products. The chain stores like Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, etc still have their old look from 10-15 years ago and haven't been remodeled like other locations. There's no big restaurants and the food court is dismal with maybe 2-3 places to eat? There's a Dave and Busters, which may be your only option for fun/food here. This mall is lacking life, innovation and relevancy. Don't bother coming here at all. Just go to Roosevelt Field, which is 5,000x better and full of life, stores and restaurants. read more

Sad that this mall is closing, but it's not altogether surprising. Years ago, I went with my ex-boyfriend to the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet, New York, which was closing at the time and was a ghost town. It looked quite depressing. Going to this mall recently with my husband and my son reminded me a lot of that experience, which was well over a decade ago, before online shopping and Amazon dominated everything. I grew up going to this mall and even worked there as a teenager. When I was really young, it was a great mall. They had a movie theatre and a lot of unique stores, like 5-7-9 and the leather goods store. It went downhill when their flagship stores like JC Penny's closed. Bringing in Wal-Mart probably didn't help, since that store undercut the other stores but at least with Wal-Mart people came to this mall. Once that shuttered, this mall came one step closer to being obsolete. Sunrise Mall always played second fiddle to neighboring malls like Green Acres, Hicksville Mall, Bay Shore and Roosevelt Field, which have survived by having either a lot of stores to choose from, a movie theater, or a good food court (or all of the above.) For example, when I was growing up near Valley Stream, NY, Green Acres was a very outdated mall that no one wanted to go to. However, they have really worked hard the past few years to modernize it and bring in stores and restaurants that really will attract people. They did a good job there. Sunrise Mall, sadly, never caught up in that regard. I'll hold onto the memories of nostalgia for that mall, though. read more

This mall is kinda lame. Not only are the stores not the greatest, but you get the sense it is slowly closing down one store at a time.

Outdated mall thats trying to make a come back. This was a decent mall back in the day but with major store closings, lack of updating, and a ruffer crowd moving in it has gone down hill over the years. However it seems to be attempting to make a come back with the additions of home goods, dicks, and bar Louie. The mall has also added some additional security guards over the past year which I'm hoping will help. read more

This mall needs to be shut down. Simple as that. It's so unfortunate that a big place such as this with potential has no type of excitement. I was in the area so I decided to stop by with a friend and to our surprise we walked in and it was literally ghost town. It was about 4pm. Besides the workers, I can count how many people were in this mall. Probably 10 or 20. No more than that. Most of the stores were shut down and only 4 places open in the food court. Horrible. Honestly, this mall is a crack den. Stores that we used to know and love are a thing of the past. It isn't maintained well, stores close only months after opening, and I swear all this mall cares about is food and bargain shopping. It all went down hill when Walmart opened and took over the place. There are a few stores that are decent here, but they're overshadowed by the horror that is now the Sunrise Mall. It's time for your favorite show, Bad Malls and Stores. Today, we'll be talking about a pretty run down place in Massapequa, called Westfield Sunrise! ;) That's right ladies and gentlemen! Anyway, Westfield Sunrise was a mall I looked forward to going to occasionally growing up, especially going with my aunt and my cousin. Nowadays, the mall looks like hurricane damaged environment that can't recover from its coma. It used to be a decent mall, where there was a variety of stores and kiosks to attract costumers, along with a food court. I always made a promise to never give up on that mall, and that I would always be their number one shopper, when I got to go there. Negatives: 1. Westfield mall seems to be lacking in popularity and it's starting to become very cheap and run down, as opposed to Broadway Commons, Roosevelt Field, and Walt Whitman. 2. Their stores constantly close down and they replace them with inexpensive and unknown retailers. The raunchy Walmart closed, probably because of the filth and the unusual atmosphere of items all over the place. Very unusual, speaking of it being a good mall. Not!!!! 3. The food court is no longer there, and it seems that we only have two options now, as opposed the 8 or 9 that we used to have: Arthur Treachers, Nathan's, KFC, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and etc. But, at least we can eat seasoned cardboard pizza at Sbarro, which is okay to say the least, but not that yummy. Don't you love the high quality buffalo slice. Nah, I don't think so. 4. The kiosks aren't as high in their quality, as they once were. They replaced the Starbucks with a more luxurious coffee shop, known as are you ready for this, Dunkin Donuts! ;) Actually not that luxurious, but absolutely terrible and just a slap in the face. What ever happened to Avon? I don't know. Anyway, the only positives are Wetzel Pretzel, Auntie Annie's, and Great Spirits Collection, which sells amazing Native American merchandise. Two stars, because of the positives, even though I can't stand much of that store in modern times. They should definitely fix that elevator. It's old and dirty. This mall needs to be sold, or turned in to a place like Tanger Outlets. I'm left absolutely speechless by this. Westfield, your new title is drainfield. read more

This mall looks very runned down, but it seems that they are trying to improve the looks. its not working for me! They need to make it come alive, and remodeling is definitely in order. Maybe if they make it appelling and affordable it might bring in new business and new blood.. i will stick to Bway or roosevelt field for now...Good Luck!! read more

I agree too this place is not the same as it was 15 years ago but alot of things have changed since then. I honestly do not head out this way too much anymore but the journey to sunrise highway was one I took every two months or so. -The food court is very well known here but not as good as it once was. I think I even applied to work at that Walmart way back when. The mall still gets crowded but I agree you might as well go to Roosevelt Field and have a really good time as a Mall. read more

It's close to home it's good for a quick run. But I prefer Roosevelt Field. It has become a big hangout for the teens.

I have no words for what this mall has become... It has become a sad excuse for a shopping mall. I dont like to be extremely negative but i can promise you that the landlord of this building could not careless to upkeep it or help the stores stay running. I recommend driving a littler bit further and just going to the Roosevelt Field Mall for a much better and cleaner experience. So, the mall is a ilttle bit of a mixed bag of stores, with Walmart and JCP, with the essentials, but also special stores for Christmas shopping, like Periwinkle and Macys. It's a mall, so it does the trick for a mall. I will go back for a pretzel and ice cream any day, though. read more

This is still a bit more run down than the Roosevelt Field Mall, but the last time I was here, they were doing some major work to make it more up-to-date. It's like any mall, you can find a mix of stores and a ton of teenagers. If you live in the immediate area, you probably go there often enough, but if you are looking to go to a mall to waste a few hours spending money and getting lost in the crowd, you are probably better off driving to the Roosevelt Field Mall. read more

Very sad mall. There are shops closing it feels like a ghost town. I'm from the west coast and several malls operated by Westfields seem in this very sad condition. In the second floor of this mall are four shoes stores right next to each other. This seems rather excessive and Wall Mart is gone. So you have this vast empty space that used to anchor this mediocre mall. The Westfield group says it has opportunity to attract stores I never heard of. I hope the 300 employees of wal mart find work at some other place. read more

This mall is Dingy, Dirty, and Relatively Empty compared to the competing malls on the Island. The women's bathroom needed to be cleaned. The stores I went into were lacking! You couldn't pay me to eat in that food court. Overall DISAPPOINTED with the condition of this mall...never again! Oh and 3 quarters of the stores were closed! read more

I haven't been here in years, but I remember when they had duck ponds on the first floor, a free roaming giant lop eared rabbit, and an arcade across the hall from Sbarros. I also remember when you could smoke in the mall...and I mean, being from Long Island, hanging out in the mall and smoking was obviously a hobby, practically a skill you had to learn before you hit high school (or maybe once you got to high school, I can't remember) Honestly, I don't have any idea what shape the mall is in now (though I heard someone drove a car through one of the storefronts recently) but thank you Sunrise Mall, thanks for the memories, and thanks for helping me down the road to the inevitable lung cancer. read more

Pretty good mall. I like it over there a lot. Again, a nice assortment of stores that cater to a diverse audience (something for the punk, the urbanite, and the prep). I personally like the urbanwear stores (great slection and one in particular...City Source...has some great sales at times). Also, pretty good selection of sneakers, if you look around. A lot of good parking (especially by the Macy's) and of course, no mall is complete without an Auntie Anne's. One of the best things about this mall is that it is more toned down than some of the other malls on Long Island. It is not as ritzy-LongIslandy as Roosevelt Field (although that mall has its moments too). Also, I should mention that sometimes professional wrestlers make an appearance there at one of the Sports Shops. read more

I like this mall! Yes it's a bit dated but it has some great stores and it's not nearly as crowded as Roosevelt Field or Green Acres Malls. There's a Walmart entrance in the mall so you will see some characters lol. There's lots of parking.. Just wish it wasn't an hour away from me. read more

Mall used to be so much better.....I'm going back 15 years ago this mall used to have a lot of good stores, not these mom and pop shops that keep shut down after the first month. The owner is trying really hard to make the mall better, which I can see the difference but its far from Walt Whitman and Roosevelt Field. I haven't been to this mall in a long time. It wasn't the "Westfield" went I last visited. It changed a lot since last time, and I was completely lost in this updated version of the place I knew so well in high school. Sbarro, Auntie Anne's and Radio shack are still around, but none of the places that held special places in my memories of the Sunrise Mall remain. No Nathan's, McDonalds or Roy Rogers. No book stores; and where the hell did the movie theater go? Time out and the other arcade are also long gone. Import alley also no where to be found. Spencer's is still there and that should count for something, but a dollar store and Walmart? WTF? I guess things are always gonna change. Doesn't mean I gotta like it. read more

What happened to this mall? I used to go to Sunrise all the time growing up, and went back a few times since it changed to Westfields. This time, however, pretty much none of the stores were there anymore. They also were not really replaced with anything. And weirdly, while the merchandise did not seem quality or impressive, the prices were still high. Sbarros, is still there, with very good food... but what happened to G & G, Baskin Robbins, 5 7 9, and the many other awesome stores and shops that used to be there? I walked through the whole first floor without one store really drawing me in. It looks like they are renovating, (Or at least there are signs stating that they are), so I guess we will see what is in store after that takes places. On the plus, there is parking available, and the pond looks pretty. read more

Pros: Forever 21, Hot topic, Gamestop, Spencers, Torrid, Journeys, Fashion to Figure & Pacsun. Lots of parking. Cons: No more Walmart & less food court options. I love this mall, I mean it can be a bit on the ghetto side but all in all this mall has everything. I hear that they are renovating and I hope they don't take out any of the good stores. They do need to add more food court options though. read more

THIS "MALL" IS BEYOND SAD, DEPRESSING, OLD...there's a couple of decent stores and a new Home Goods opening soon which might begin to turn it around, but the whole place needs a massive renovation and modernizing. They have to make it more inviting and exciting to go there. read more
