This is my favorite sushi place in Brooklyn. I like California roll and spicy tuna roll which were really good. The service here is excellent! The food is super fresh and delicious. They have park varies in this area. You can easily park somewhere and other times it is tough to find an open spot. Service was very fast and attentive . They have very good KTV rooms and the environment is beautiful spacious . This is one of the best BBQ spot I have ever seen in New York. read more

BEST JAPANESE BBQ!! Oh my gosh, I am so happy to have found this place. Absolute gem. John was our host, and he was so incredibly helpful, thank you so much John! (: I also saw that John was grilling meat for other tables as well- amazing to watch! I can't even pick one dish as my favorite, there were just too many great options. Oh, the young man that brought our food, I believe he said his name was Andrew when I asked, was the most polite and helpful man on site. Give this man a raise! He loves his job! Came in for their soft opening. The decor is really nice, they paid attention to a lot of details. Each part of the space has its own theme and style. What I love about the decor is the outdoor space they have. Rocks and plants and lights, the lamp posts really made it romantic, it's like strolling down a park. And they have karaoke in the rooms. The food itself is not bad, they have a lot of options, plenty of meats and seafoods and they also have sushi. One thing that needs to be changed about this place is the grill they have, it's way too small! Smaller than other places. But other than that, everything is good, this is a great place for groups. If you come with only your partner, you can't eat much and you won't be able to try as much but when you come in groups, more people means more plates, you get to try more items otherwise the food goes to waste. Reservations of table for two on valentine's day. Unfortunately I had to wait up to 40 minutes due the their poor management. There were people who came after us but serves before us. Probably because of the age difference by looking younger than other group of 4 people and having less people then the other group of 4 people so they were served first. By 8:30 I was finally served. Food quality was way different and worse than the other time I came to this place. Some foods are shown on the online menu but not served in the restaurant. Kinda seems like trick by the store. Good place to try but never coming back. Great atmosphere when walking in. This restaurant is all you can eat sushi and BBQ. It's little pricey at this place for all you can eat. We sat down and the whole time we got three server helping us. The only reason I didn't have five star is because the first server that come to us with no greeting welcomes. Okay so this is what happened ... The first server came to us I believe her name is momo? asked how many people .. which is weird because normally when you sit down at a table they come to you and greet you like "hi, how are you guys doing today blah blah blah" but this server did not greet us, she said to us : is it just the two of you? (With a not welcoming voice) We started ordering with her, and she never came back with our food we had to get the other servers attention. Then the second server came to us very nicely asking us are you guys okay with the food, is it anything else we can do for you, and how was your day blah blah .. etc.. and I guess the second server was busy at the moment when we needed her so the third server came which was a male and he helped us cook the food on the table. The bbq is not so bad but the sushi on the other hand is a different story. I'm not sure is it because our table didn't order a lot of sushi or whatever reason but the way our sushi did not look appetizing to us at all. I truly felt like I can wrap the sushi better at home. We called to see if we can get a table for 8:30pm. They said okay but it maybe 8:45pm. We got there before 8:30pm and they kept on telling us 5 more mins. Next thing you know it was 9pm before we got seated. It was very busy but they gave us the food relatively fast. Since they were so busy, we end up cooking the food ourselves. They food was good, if you like meat. The lamb chop was a little salty but it had good flavors. The scallop and clams was good too. Didn't really like the oysters. We asked for razor clams but they said they ran out. There is beer on the menu but they don't serve any of it. We wanted to pay with credit card but they said their machine doesn't work. When we went here the sea food wasn't fresh, service is alright but I didn't like the food, all the meats tasted dry and tasteless I had to religiously dip in their special sauce to make the meat somewhat bearable . Maybe lamb is a bit good but the second time it got a bit burnt and didn't taste good. Honestly, the only thing I liked was their special sauce, everything else is a hard pass. Had such a fantastic time in the private karaoke room. The food was abundant and delicious. The owner and his son, went out of their way to make sure we were completely satisfied. Shokunin is a great restaurant, the food is fantastic, the use of pipes also means you don't smell like dinner later, and if the place isn't busy the staff will help you cook. It isn't a "cheap" restaurant but if you really value having a great time, this is the type of restaurant you want to go to. This place is bomb, their unmarinated meat is super fresh and the quality/marbling on the meat is top notch. The seafood was marinated in a good garlicky sauce and the sushi from here is honestly GOOD, on par with a la carte sushi restaurants better than the AYCE buffet styles you would get. For the price this is a steal. The manager John was also super nice and came into our VIP room to grill the meat for us and chill with us. The rooms are super nice and clean and there was literally no smell on our cloths after 2 hours of grilling. Would definitely recommend this place and come back for sure. read more

They kept forgetting items I order and gave me wrong order. One of the servers friends came in to eat and they only took care of that table and pretty much forgot to help any other tables. Came here with a party of six, made my reservation ahead of time. 5 minute wait time when I arrived, then got seated on the round tables. This is my first time trying Japanese BBQ. I like this innovative idea of grilling on the wire grill plate. It feels more like BBQ in comparison with the Korean BBQ. Which is like "cooking" on the metal plate. The food taste better this way with smoky aroma on the meat. Also the grill mark makes the cooked meats extra appetizing. The service was awesome. They gave you a bag for storing your jackets like most bbq places. It's a busy place and a new opening, I see the waiter going around in a hurry. So I understand and gave them times to bring us water/refills. The server will come to your table and grill for you but if you want to grill on your own just tell them. But after trying to cook by myself, I regret because they make the food taste better. Obviously because they were trained. The manager John, came to our table greeting us and ask our experiences was really kind. I feel like as a customer, I am being treated and that they actually care about their customers. All the meat that we ordered were flavorless, you had to count on the dipping sauces (only 2 sauces were available) , quality of the meats were either too much fat on them or it was too chewy and hard to bite. The appetizer were mediocre but the mixed fruits juices were the star of the whole night ! Very tasty and refreshing . Service was very slow . We had a VIP room for 12 people and we had 2 tables each having 1 small grill to cook on , this made it hard to cook the food fast enough for us to eat. They need to upgrade their tables and put atleast 2 grills on each table . Most likely won't be returning to this restaurant, not worth the price . read more
