We were in the mood for some all you can eat BBQ and wanted to try a new place so we decided upon Shokunin BBQ after reading some positive reviews about the place. It did not disappoint. We ordered different cuts of beef, some lamb chops, veggies, and some sushi as well. The meat was on point and definitely a step above in terms of the cuts than other places like Kpot. Albeit, those places are at a slightly different price point and offer hotpot instead of sushi as the other component of the dining experience for the BBQ. We also got some sushi, which was decent but the main attraction is definitely the meat. The service was fairly quick and attentive. We came here on a busy weekend night and got seated with little to no wait. All our orders came out pretty quickly. The set up of the place is pretty cute with it's booths. I would highly recommend Shokunin BBQ if you were looking for a great BBQ experience with good cuts of meat.

The options are endless... AND I LOVE IT! Absolutely worth the price plus more! The service was very fast, food was rushing out left and right as soon as you order it. The ambiance is very nice, I love the seating! Fits perfectly for your guest amount. The drinks were delicious, not strong but obviously it's sake so....I still loved it. Would absolutely go back!

Came here on a Friday night at 7 pm with no reservation - four adults, one toddler and we were seated almost immediately. The servers are quick and efficient. They come and change your grill very frequently throughout the BBQ service. They supply a whole stack of napkins as well as small plates for you to exchange as you go through your BBQ. Its all you can eat 48.99 per adult, well worth the price. They have a wide selection of meats. The baby lamb chops and NY strip were very tasty. Variety of seafood as well, the oysters they served were huge, BBQ shrimp a must try. Also recommended getting the corn that comes with cheese and the sweet potato, these both were out of this world. The sushi is fresh. Appetizers good. The booths are semi private and it's great place for family and friends overall.

It tastes bad and chewy

It was extremely unpalatable. Everyone knows that grilled meat needs fat. This restaurant is really bad; it's all lean meat. I ordered the marbled beef but they served me beef shank. The croutons in the crab meat salad were from yesterday and had turned yellow. The shrimp paste couldn't be flipped over and the bottom was burnt. Except for our table, the restaurant was empty. The menu hasn't been updated for at least four years. The sauce was actually soy sauce and it was very salty. Just close the shop. Don't do business anymore. It's so bad.

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile since it has been around for so many years. Came on a weekday at around 12pm when they opened and there was literally no one else besides our table. The buffet is $41.95 per adult. Their menu is extensive and had a variety of meat, seafood, and sushi. There was a limited selection of vegetables. The marinated meat was so salty but tender. Even the vegetables had sauce on them. Because there was so much sauce on everything, my friend and I had to continuously drink water. There was too much marinade on everything. If I do decide to come back next time it will be less on the meats and get more seafood and try the sushi menu.

The BBQ is pretty good and the AYCE also includes sushi. It's definitely better to go as a large group in a private karaoke room to get the best bang for your buck. The restaurant itself isn't the nicest or cleanest, but it's still an interesting experience overall. The service was decent and they took our orders down on a tablet. They also didn't rush us out after 2hrs so we had a little extra karaoke time.

Shumai that looks ordinary but tastes amazing.

The entrance was a bit hard to see but inside is such a nice surprise. Very spacious booths that give us privacy. The staff were very nice and attentive. I saved the best for last! The food is amazing! Meat was tasty and well marinated. The seafood is fresh and perfectly flavored. There is a good amount to choose from. Unfortunately, I was busy eating I forgot to take pictures after eating the shumai. It was really good. The ventilation is above average. I did not leave the dinner smelling like one which made my Uber driver very happy. All in all, I left satisfied.

I love this place a lot. Delicious food, entertainment when you cook, good wine, the service is ok., the interior is nice, reasonable prices. One of my favorite spots to visit)

Very fresh quality meat! Beautiful presentation! I wish the meats had more marinated variety. All of them kind of tasted the same but it was really good cut of meat. My favorite meat was the lamb, super tender and flavorful! The BBQ was 10/10 for sure, but the sushi not so much. The fish was fresh for the sushi but too much rice!!! We ordered some hand rolls but it was completely full off rice and only 2 pieces of fish. The rice ratio was just too much and the sushi was not very enjoyable. The service was OK, the workers were very nice and helped us cook the meat and advised us when to turn the meat and when they were read to take off the grill. But they did mess up our order multiple times, we ordered sushi and they kept forgetting some of our rolls even through we reordered it twice. Overall, great experience but only go for the bbq. The sushi is not great.

Oh I love this place. The food is really fresh. I've been a few times and it always feels pretty chill compared to other bbq places I've been too. It wasn't fully booked any of the times so maybe that's why it was so quiet. They have a great mix of raw as well as kitchen prepared items which is great when you're impatiently waiting for your bbq to cook. I have no complaints at all with this place. It's just consistent and delicious

Came here for Father's day, we reserved the private room which includes the karaoke and bbq buffet for $42 something per person (if I remember correctly), drinks are not included. There's a 2 hr time limit, but I think if there's no reservations right after they won't be in a hurry to kick you out. Upon entering I thought the place was a bit dingy. They do have really cool looking booths at the main seating area, but I noticed random empty boxes in random spots and the furniture looks a bit beaten up. But besides the decor we had a great time here. In the private room there are 2 grills. We were sure how to order at first since there's a group of 10 people and of course it's loud there with the music and all, so we thought it might be easier to write our order down on a napkin and gave it to staff. The food came and a staff member stayed in the room with us to cook the food. The food were all okay. But my 3 favorite things were the beef ribs, fried chicken wings, and the Kani salad. After all the ordered food gets cooked, the staff will leave the room and if we need assistance we can just hit the button with a smiley face next to the door. Overall we had a great time, time goes by quick when you're having fun, we ended up staying a bit over 2 hours. I also wanted to add that it was a tad bit confusing to search for songs at first but we figured out that we need to search by song title not by artist. Also I like that the videos are the actual music videos of the song and not random people running on the beach or just words on the screen. Side note: In the private room there's a step before the seating area, please be careful!

From the start, the menu felt a little overwhelming, but I actually liked how much variety there was. They've got your everyday sashimi, sushi, rolls, and some specials, plus plenty of hot food like bento boxes, noodles and rice dishes. There are even party trays if you're grabbing food for an event. With so many options, there's something for everyone in your group. The fish was fresh overall, though it leaned more mild than that buttery, sweet richness you get from higher grade cuts. The salmon belly was good but not as rich or melty as I hoped. The toro was nicely torched with that perfect buttery flavor. They also had Santa Barbara uni that night, which was solid, just not the most sweet batch I've had. They were already sold out of their Hokkaido uni that evening. We also tried the monkfish liver appetizer, it was mild and clean tasting, though I wished it had more of that rich, creamy depth you sometimes get from good quality ankimo. It came plain, but once I asked for a little ponzu, it helped balance the flavor. The space itself is clean and very bright, with an open layout where you can easily hear other tables, lively but not too loud. Service was friendly and polite, though a bit on the inexperienced side. Everyone was kind and tried their best, just small moments where communication or timing could be smoother. Parking in the area can be tricky depending on the time, but there are plenty of meters and street parking within walking distance.

And the bathrooms are probably the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in NYC as they have a Japanese toilet with a motion sensor lid. The service was very attentive and lovely. I'm a bit short (5'3) so my legs usually just barely touch the bars in a stool / bar seating and when the server (who I believe is also the owner) noticed he brought a shelf essentially that would allow me to rest my feet easier. I've never seen that before and it was so kind and appreciated. They do not have a wine menu which is what I normally order but they do have an extensive sake menu so I decided to give it a try and they have a helpful guide which shows like which sakes are sweet or sour etc. I picked a sweet one which was delicious. When they served it, they let us pick cups based on our Chinese zodiac so we got the monkey and the sheep based on our birth years. So unique and special. And of course the food was delicious! the first half were very unique dishes, plated beautifully and the second half was traditional nigiri. When the chef noticed my strong reaction to the amount of wasabi on the first nigiri, he was kind enough to adjust the amount of wasabi for me moving forward without me even having to ask. All in all it was an incredible night especially not having to go into Manhattan. I look forward to coming back!!

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon for lunch. Decided on a sushi for appetizer and a rice don bowl for meal. Lunch special had any 2 rolls for $8.95 and they have a spicy scallops roll. It turn out to be a California roll with chopped spicy scallops on top. If I knew, I would not have gotten it as I imagine a spicy tuna roll but with scallops. I don't normally get California roll (not basic) because I also don't know what imitatation crab Kani stick product they are using as I have a crustacean allergy. Some Kani stick is purely fish and some have crab extract in it which I can't have. I wish there menu had more details/informations but most sushi places don't list what is in the rolls and expect you to know it or Google it. But for people with allergies (yes, I know, why eat sushi if I have a crustacean allergy but there are other options for me), we would love to know what is in the dish. Ordered: 2 rolls for $8.95: eel avocado & spicy scallop rolls and a Salmon Eel Don. Lots of rice for don and good portion fish. Zoomed in photo of the spicy scallop sushi showed it was California roll with the chopped spicy scallops on top. Overall, enjoyed my lunch. Would definitely come back to try other dons and noodles.
