(2/21/2020) I have been to this place countless of times mainly because of the BYOB. The food is good as well and skewers are reasonably priced and were all perfectly cooked and delicious. A great late night place!

If you're a fan of stick food, this will be your heaven open until 3 am daily I find myself craving Simon's almost everyday. The eggplant, squid and rice cakes are the must-haves here. The seasoning is crack, I can taste cumin and paprika but the rest is a mystery and it's just so good!

This place is well known to local for their late night hours and prompt deliveries. They are also underrated because I think they make the best bbq chicken wings in Brooklyn. I've never been there without eating at least 3 orders of wings. I tried some new items and I was very impressed. The icy rice was unspeakably balanced with peanuts, coconut jelly, raisin, boba, rice, ice and fresh cut melons, surprisingly not too sweet, but just so balanced. Mussels were juicy and well marinated. Squid and fish tofu were amazing. The fried bun is a must try but we ordered too much and couldn't finish :( Lamb rack was INSANE. People have bigger hands than me but just for your reference I can pick up a basketball with one hand and reach 10 keys on a piano. The lamb rack was monstrous and looked so delicious that we dug in before taking pictures. Just imagine how much bang for the buck you get, not to mention it was AMAZING. One order was only $16.95 I think.

If you are looking for a savory, hot, late-night snack, Simons BBQ is the perfect spot. I came here around 11 pm and was seated immediately after they checked vaccination cards. Their menu was extensive, offering a large variety of meats and vegetables. We ended up ordering about 30 sticks, including the bbq beef, squid tentacles, rice cakes, fish tofu, bacon and mushroom, and squid body. We also got the sweet potato and eggplant, which were both delicious. I especially liked the eggplant because of the bbq sauce they dressed it with and it was grilled to perfection. Being truthfully honest, I enjoyed all the skewers because I cannot get enough of their sauce which was smoky, savory, and sweet. My favorite had to be the beef skewers because of how juicy the meat was and was not dry at all. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area because i can order a couple skewers as a small snack or a lot to fill me up as a meal. Also, the food comes out relatively fast, so it is convenient if you're really hungry. Overall, I really recommend trying this place out if you have never tried Chinese bbq before.

This place didn't meet my expectations. I'm giving it 2.5 stars. The only thing I loved was the eggplant. Everything else was either too sweet or meh. I'm glad I finally checked this place out but I don't think I will be coming back. Short ribs - too sweet, I didn't even want to finish Beef - dry but tasted ok Corn - bland Mussels - pretty good Chicken feet - didn't like it because it was sweet Eggplant - this was amazing Chicken wing - this was good

If you're looking for divey eats, this is it. We came here on a Saturday evening and there wasn't anyone around except the owner and workers. Don't let this deter you and give it a shot. It's like sitting at a Hong Kong street eat only its indoors. The uncle that took our order was freaking hilarious it's kind of charming. He kept coming over to give us recommendations and give us life lessons. There are a lot of varieties that we didn't know what to choose. Not to worry, uncle helped us. We did short rib, beef, lamb, bacon wrapped enoki, cauliflower, chicken gizzard, egg plant, and a dozen mussels. Doesn't sound like a lot but it's very filling and delicious. Next time, I gotta order a beer to complement the meal. I can't say it was cheap but it's definitely low key and delicious.

I was driving away from getting bubble tea when I spotted the bright neon sign for this place. I quickly parked my car and walked over. Looking at the menu I wasn't sure what to order or how it was going to be served. I asked a few questions and to my surprise I found a "food on a stick" restaurant. Meats, vegetables, seafood, and dessert all on a stick!!! The restaurant is small with a few tables for dine in customers, so I decided to get my food to go. I ordered the chicken, lamb, and string beans. The lamb was good, but a bit too tough for my taste. The string beans were well seasoned with great crunch. The chicken was the star of the stick food show. The chicken was very juicy, well seasoned, and a flavor experience from the first bite to the last. I really enjoyed my bbq on a stick and I will return for more very soon.

Mini buns at the back. From top left to bottom right(diagonally) is chicken gizzard, wheat gluten, chicken wings and beef.

I'm only here because it is a great place with so little attention on Yelp. Fresh ingredients on skewer! Can't go wrong with that. I would say it's pretty authentic Chinese style barbecue. Cheap too! The owner and his family(I'm guessing) is really nice and friendly, to a level that I'm shocked. Depite there are only a handful of people working there, the wait is not bad. But you do need to help yourself with stuff sometimes. Definitely will come back. I recommend the beef, fish tofu, beacon wrapped enoki, fish ball with cheese masago and the corn.

First of all. If you have been to 8 ave then you most likely have eaten something from Simons bbq cart or the new store that opened up here on 53 st and/or 49st. Simon has been doing bbq style snacks for many years and has perfected his craft! Hence the 2 new stores opening within the past six months. Ok. Enough ranting. THE FOOD IS GOOD! If u dare, try the spicy powder with everything. What a kick! Whats good? The chicken wing, chicken, chicken gizzard, lamb, bacon chives, fish tofu, squid, and.especially the bacon mushroom. In all honesty everything that Simon sells most people like. Give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

Been following Simon for a number of years now from the original street cart on 55th street to 49th streets #1 store. They have in my opinion the best BBQ shish kebab skews on 8th avenue. So stopped in to try out some spicy rice cake, tofu, enoki mushroom wrapped in bacon and beef. Wow all for just $6.45!! Was quite yummy! Plus you have waitress service at this location with seating for about 30 people. There hours are the same as the #1 store location 3 pm to 2 am daily and is $$$$$$$ cash only.

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.

The pork with garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. This one isn't spicy so it didn't numb the mouth. The mapo tofu was also delicious and a little spicier but still not numbing the mouth. Def better to have it with rice though. The green pepper fish was mouth numbing and honestly I couldn't taste much of the flavor because the combination of spice and the hot temperature of the food was overbearing for me. So if you're like me and can tolerate some spicy but not numbing spicy then I would recommend telling them less spicy. Portions were perfect for 5 people (3 males and 2 females) as we ordered 2 of the pork with garlic sauce, 2 mapo tofus, and 1 big green pepper fish dish. We went on a Saturday at 5:30pm so it wasn't too crowded. Overall delicious and the staff were all friendly and very attentive in filling up our water for our spicy meal. There was nothing that I ordered that needed ketchup. Nothing. There wasn't even soy sauce in the bag. Then had the unmitigated gall to charge $22 for the salt baked shrimp and told me I had to pay $5 extra to substitute the lo mein for white rice. Who is eating white rice with shrimp? Girl bye. I'm not paying almost $30 for one meal from a hood Chinese spot. If there's no heat in your establishment, your prices need to be in lowercase. If it looks like you might catch staph in your establishment, your prices need not to be so loud. I also believe they overcharged me. They did have a sign saying that the prices went up, but I think they may have been too cheap to print out a new menu if that was the case. I was going off of what they had on the wall for the general public. So as I stated, I ordered crab Rangoon ($7, allegedly), honey wings ($7, allegedly), a shrimp egg roll ($2, allegedly), spare rib tips with fried rice ($12, allegedly). My total was $31. My assumption is they probably charged me extra for pork fried rice, which I didn't ask him for. I know for a fact they are not charging tax because there's no way that you're forcing people to pay in cash while also charging them for taxes that you don't pay. The crab Rangoon was actually pretty decent even though I didn't have the sauce that comes with it. The honey wings were OK. They actually taste more like honey BBQ. I prefer C&Y honey wings. It's real honey and stay hot for an hour due to the way honey maintains heat. I also don't appreciate when these spots chop up a wing and call it two wings. 1 wing is the entire thing. STINGY. The spare rib tips I don't like and neither do I like their pork fried rice. The rice is a bit bland and I don't like those large spare rib tips. I prefer the boneless spare rib tips that C&Y has. A shrimp roll is a shrimp roll is a shrimp roll. It wasn't too bad and it was actually pretty happy. The shrimp was a little bit larger than those baby shrimp that they normally stuff in shrimp rolls. Their pricing is on par with C&Y yet I don't have no issues paying what they ask and their food is good aside from their lo mein. They are not stingy and have pretty decent customer service unlike the guy who took my order here who paused my order to take another order over the phone and tend to the person behind me. This is what I get for cheating on my spot and being lazy when they both were far af.
