Upon entering, Shoccu already has a leg up on its competition simply with their aesthetic. Fresh, clean and modern with great, flowing use of every space in the building. You won't find outdated wood carved statues or poorly tended koi ponds here. If that's the icing on the cake, allow me to introduce you to the cake: Shoccu's menu. From authentic bibimbap served in a hot stone bowl to a sushi roll with pop rocks (yes! pop rocks!), their menu is both traditional and new, not to mention, delicious! Do have the lettuce wraps and do try the buns (served in a traditional steamer basket). Run, don't walk to Shoccu. This is the place that Fort Wayne Asian-eats lovers have been waiting for. read more

Shoccu - Asian Fusion Near Me - Fort Wayne, Indiana

Doesn't have as big of a menu as Naked Tchopstix but it has some if our favorites...Playboy Roll, Bibimbap, Spicy Chicken. And great lunch special. read more

For starters, we attempted to call in a take out order and couldn't. We tried to call several times and each time we got a "number could not be dialed" message (we called from two different phones). Since we had been wanting to try Shoccu, we decided to drive to the restaurant to place our order. When we attempted to tell the server who greeted us that their phone was not working, he was very dismissive and stated he had at least seven calls a short time before. That may have been true, but there was no reason to be dismissive. So, we placed our order and waited 18 minutes for it. Was it worth it? Ummm, it was a mixed bag. We had the egg rolls, steamed pot stickers, Japanese fired noodles with chicken, spicy salmon roll, tuna avocado roll, and crunch munch roll. Everything was just ok. The sushi was fresh, which is always good; however, it lacked luster. read more

Went here for lunch, and I really enjoyed it. I am so happy that there is another good restaurant in Southwest! I love Salvatori's, but it can get old :) I had their lunch special, which is a combo of miso soup, a Chinese or Korean dish, and a sushi roll. I had the soup, general tso's and the Fire Roll, and it was all excellent. The food was fresh and well prepared. It was also a ton of food for $12. It would feed two people easily. The decor is modern japanese, very similar to Asakusa. Its a very comfortable environment. My only negative comment: they need more servers! It slowed down everything significantly, so be careful for a workweek lunch. The service was good and polite, just not fast. This place is brand new, so that is to be expected. I will definitely come back. read more

Tried Shoccu tonight for the first time - I have to say that the food was very tasty. I'll start by saying that my wife and I eat quite a bit of sushi/Chinese/Korean fare. Fort Wayne actually has a pretty solid ethnic food scene. This night, we ordered the pot stickers (steamed), salads with ginger dressing, general tso's, a crunch munch sushi roll and fried noodles with beef. All were very good - though next time I'll get the pot stickers fried (it's a texture thing - I knew this, and I messed up). Worth noting that they also had a wine selection, and about 6 craft beers on tap. The service is friendly and prompt, the ambiance is clean, modern and casual, and the food is flavorful. I do believe this place does/will benefit from its location as one of the only food options west of I69 on Illinois Rd, but it is on par with the better sushi/Korean places in town. I also think maybe it has the same owners as Naked Tchopstix. I will most certainly return, and you should too. read more

We ordered at 6:10pm and didn't receive our food until 7pm. There were only four people at my table with pretty standard order- 5 sushi rolls, one separate entree, and a few appetizers. We received our appetizers at the end of our meal. The food was okay and the wasabi was lacking in flavor which made me question if it was real wasabi. The service was extremely poor; our waiter never checked up on us, asked us about our order twice on separate occasions, and at one point delivered the the wrong food. The restaurant also only played sad songs the entire time. read more

I've heard many raves about this place and it was time for me to try it out. It's a cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining options. The menu had plenty of choices to choose from. We wanted more "cooked" sushi rolls so we didn't try any raw sashimi. Service was great and the price was reasonable. The food was good- the flavor wasn't anything I've never had, but then how crazy can you stretch sushi rolls, right? :) I will definitely come back again. read more

Ok it's way off the normal path for a north Sider. But it's the best Sushi in the Fort. You need to consume your body weight in the Playboy Roll. The Tuna is tasty. The only think that is odd is no sushi roll order sheets but hey I can talk so no biggy. Get there early they are packing them in now. It's good to find local high quality reasonable priced Sushi. Enjoy! read more

Best sushi in town hands down. Fish cuts are the most generous, pricing is fantastic for what you get, and the daily specials are unbeatable. Monday has a pick 2 sushi roll for $16.99 (EXCELLENT DEAL) that also includes soup and side salad. Every day they have a lunch special that includes sushi roll, soup, and your choice of entree (general tso, beef bulgoki, and a couple other options) all for $11.99. If you like sushi don't even question coming here, go now! read more

Excellent Asian-fusion restaurant in SW Fort Wayne with great food and a good selection of wine and beer. Service has always been friendly and consistent. Presentation is very nice, open for lunch, dinner, or carry out. read more

We were here last night as a group of three adults. It was all of our first time here. The ambience was pleasant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Service was slow and somewhat inattentive. We ordered tea and water to drink; both tasted odd but I suspect that's a Ft. Wayne water thing and not unique to Shoccu. We ordered the steamed dumplings as an appetizer. These were quite tasty. We all ordered a variety of Sushi rolls and nigiri. All were very good as well. Portions were ample, plates were beautifully arranged. read more

This place is seriously the best! Me and my daughter's favorite sushi spot (try the Playboy Roll)

I've tried this place a few times now. I'm in love with the king dumplings, salmon lovers dish, and the hot stone bowl bibimbap with bulgogi. There's a red sauce that comes with the bibimbap and if you aren't a spicy food lover then be light handed with that sauce. I loved spicy so I asked for more! Those have been my main go to dishes and I'm pretty happy with them! I'll be back. If you try those dishes you won't be disappointed. I'm Asian... I would know ! read more

Great food and great lunch specials. You get a Big Bang for your buck here. I do not eat raw sushi so I cannot comment on that but what I always get is fabulous! read more

We love just down the street from Shoccu but it took us over a year to get down there and try it. Man, are we sorry we waited. Amazing sushi rolls! We also had the teriyaki salmon and white rice which was excellent. They have a decent beer selection and a huge wine selection. Are server was attentive and even tried to turn on the big ten tournament for us but apparently they don't get the big ten net work. We will definitely be back! read more

Ordered carry out while son getting haircut next door. Hostess allowed me to leave with a menu . My husband and I were very pleased. We had pan fried noodles /with Veggies with chicken. Also chicken fried rice. Our meals included very fresh salad with ginger dressing . Very tasty ! Also we has a California roll and an order of egg rolls. Our entire meal was delicious and very fresh. Next time we will dine in, but the carry out was great ! read more

Today was our first time trying Shoccu. It is hands down our new favorite place! We used to go to a few other sushi restaurants. Somehow the others are rated more. I think they're all great. However, I just don't think enough people have checked this place out to know better. Even our 7 year old is giving high praises. We are now making the switch to Shoccu being our number one! (Highly recommend their crunch munch roll.) Clean, quick, and fresh! read more

The best place for fresh fish and awesome food. Just moved to Fort Wayne and this place has become a go to weekly.

Hot dang these steamed shrimp wontonesque bundles of joy were phenomenal! Fulla flavor!

Excellent food and service. Not just good eats, it is artistically done beautifully. With our many new Asian-fusion experiences that have opened this one is at the top of our list now. It's unfortunate that it is tucked behind some buildings on Illinois Rd because the word needs to get out how fresh everything taste and the blend of flavors are very smooth. You get warm heat on their spicy foods that keep your tastebuds intact for each wonderful bite. They have a great selection of sake, wines, and beer as well very good hot tea. They are also children friendly for families. Services is friendly and helpful each time we go. We will keep going back and spreading the word...(by the way the comparison to N. T. this place far exceeds it in all catagories) read more

This is really a great place to have dinner. The staff are always very friendly and the food is great. We have tried many of the sushi rolls and other dishes and have never been disappointed. I think we really like the toast and jam sushi roll best. I think my wife orders the salmon salad every time we go here so that she can bring it home the next day for lunch. Love the creative vegetable designs the chefs make. Just adds a nice touch. The atmosphere is really friendly and the deck they added, though in a parking lot, is a nice touch and we like to eat outside. read more

My family and I are visiting for the holidays under some difficult circumstances and after a full day of last minute shopping our kids wanted some Asian food. We stopped in and we were very happy with the service and food. My husband had Udon noodles as did my daughter and myself and my sister in law split a special with two specialty rolls and soup and salad. Prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go again when we come back. read more

My favorite sushi in town because it is reasonably fast, super close to home, the owner and servers are super nice, and sushi is great! My favorite dishes are the salmon lovers and the chicken katsu. If you like salmon, you will never get sick of this. There is a great variety of the way the salmon is prepared from sashimi to a cooked salmon with garlic aioli sauce. The chicken katsu is always crisp, which is like a flattened pork tenderloin. My only wish was that it was open on Sundays when I'm lazy and don't want to cook read more

This place has AWESOME sushi and a comfy, low-key vibe. Great date spot and very authentic!

Different options than the other sushi places in town. Toast and Jam is a must! Some of the rolls have too much cream cheese or way too much sauce so be conscious of what you order. Great modern atmosphere and friendly staff. Would go back but make different roll choices. read more

Tried Shoccu last Friday and was very pleased. We had hot sake, edammame, California Roll, Shrimp Tempura, and my favorite the Crunch and munch roll (They'll also had Korean and some other Asian options) We arrived early while other young families were dining as well and there was no crowd, but by the time we finished the date/evening dinner crowd was arriving and it started to fill up quickly. We were pleased and as others have noted it's nice (and past due) to have another good dining option Southwest. read more

I've been here so many times just because it is so delicious. I came here with my husband a few times. My relatives were visiting from Australia and California and this is a place to bring them. I recently had dinner with a bunch of my girlfriends here since I recommended this place and they loved it too. Their price is pretty decent also. Spicy tuna toast and jam is a must. I had so many different sushi rolls that they are all just amazing. Presentation is spectacular. Super glad they actually serve bibimbap in hot stone pot. Moved from California since 2015 and haven't been able to find a restaurant that sells bibimbap until Shoccu opened. I actually prefer Shoccu over Umi! read more

Really creative but well-made sushi. Great selections. I tried the cherry blossom roll.... different but delicious!

Went here for lunch after I heard of the opening online. I'm a very avid lover of sushi and was happy to see a sushi bar open near my house. Was seated very quickly as i arrived with a few friends of mine and say a nice wooden table. Soon enough we were greeted by our very kind waiter with menus for us all and then took our drink orders. Once receiving our drink we all order a different type of sushi roll. We tried the spider roll, the cherry blossom roll, and the crunch munch roll. The presentation of the sushi was excellent, looked like art. All three rolls had their unique flavors. The cherry blossom roll was some of the best sushi I have ever had at a restaurant. Overall, very tasty, good service, reasonably priced, and a great atmosphere for a sushi restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Very nice sushi restaurant. Mafia roll was awesome. May need to turn up the heat in the restaurant though. It was a bit chilly.

Not happy with my experience.. seafood was rotten. I asked them politely to exchange my order and they charged me for the the rotten seafood dish. Grossed out read more

I thought it was good. Get the cherry blossom roll. My gf likes that they can sub sea weed for soy wrap. Good beer and wine selection. Very nice decor and friendly staff. I've only ordered carry out, but always nice and quick service. Great price for great food! Always recommend to others

My parents and grandparents both live in Fort Wayne and we are all vegan. We enjoy frequenting Asian restaurants because they are usually very accommodating and the flavor is great. Shoccu is incredibly conveniently located close to home, and offers a small interior with lots of light and patio dining outdoors. The veggie sushi is great, but some of the noddle dishes lack that extra 'oomph' that would get them to 4 or 5 stars. Tofu is not really an option at this restaurant which is a huge turn off for me. The only option they have is a kind of muddled mess tofu... definitely not the firm tofu you would expect to see a typical Asian restaurant to feature. So one big piece of advice I have is to get some tofu on the menu! The bibimbap is also decent.... but again would be better if there was some tofu to top it off with for your patrons that can't or won't indulge in egg and/or meat. All in all... there is a LOT of opportunity here. The staff is great, the location is great, the menu could just use a little love and consideration! Looking forward to coming back to a more accommodating and yummy menu! read more

Tried this place because it was close to new apartment. Went on a Friday night. Only 5 tables taken so no wait. Staff is very nice. We started with shrimp tempura appetizer. While it was very good it was not a true tempura batter. It was a very crunchy what my daughter called "fish stick" breading. My daughter had green tea which was not a teabag floating in a metal pitcher. It was brewed and served in a small decorative tea pot. The place is lovely and glassware, serving pieces and plastic chopsticks were a nice touch. We both ordered small salads which our waitress totally forgot about so I can't review on those. My daughter had the fire roll and it was excellent. We brought a Corona roll home for my son and he loved it. But....they weren't really full rolls. I had the best hot sake to drink. So far 4 stars. Deducted a star for forgetting salads. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because the staffed hyped the Playboy roll. Intrigued me when they said it would be served flaming tableside. It was wrapped in foil and lit. We sat and watched while blue flame fizzled out. Very anticlimactic. The roll looked good but had a burnt sauce/lighter fluid taste. Left a wicked bad after taste. You may want to avoid this specialty. Another reason for 3 stars....no dessert! My daughter loves to follow a Japanese meal with green tea ice cream. I will go back and order one of those yummy looking salads with a glass of one of the wonderful wines on the awesome wine menu......soon to review again read more

My husband & I love this restaurant! The rolls are great. The tuna platter has 3 types of tuna and is very fresh. The lunch special is a real bargain. We love that they have bulgogi as well.
