So I wanted glazed donuts... This was the closest Shipley's so I ventured here in the rain... I checked it out on yelp before hand and was excited to go here. Unlike the Shipleys that are close to my home this location has a nice coffee menu, they also have smoothies, and made to order beignets! I was sold at the coffee menu but the beignets forced me to go here... Coming from where I was coming from I had to make a u-turn because i wasn't sure If the other turn would allow me into the shopping center. This location does have a drive-thru and is open 24 hours a day! I decided to venture inside despite the rain so I could check out the coffee menu and make a special order. There was another customer ordering in front of me and someone working the drive thru so another employee came out to assist me... My mom likes donuts without icing but not cake donut... So I asked if they had any available without the icing and he pointed to the cake ones at first... I asked if he had any regular donuts and he said no but he could make some real quick... Awesome!!! Placed the rest of my order and before he could finish my coffee the fresh donuts came out! I was so excited I couldn't wait to get home! This place is really clean... They keep their inventory pretty small so they can keep making fresh donuts all day! Which is pretty awesome especially because I always crave donuts at the weirdest times of the day. Their donuts are warm I don't know if they keep them warm but a warm glazed donut is honestly the best thing in the world! Also you can tell that they fry oil is clean because the donuts do not have a stale taste and even the icingless ones they made stayed crisp all the way home. My mom loved her donuts and ate all 3... I'm sure she probably would've eaten more had I bought them which I will next time. I would drive across town to purchase donuts from this shipley's!!! read more

This is my favorite Shipleys! They have so much more to offer here than anywhere else, they even sell full gallons of milk. And it's also open 24 hours!!!! I go around 10pm some nights to get a late snack, and I'm always greeted by one the most friendly crews in Houston. Even the signature line, "Have a delicious night!" Who would of guessed that you would give a very well known doughnut place one star. Well THIS location is pure trash. Doughnuts are stale and they take forever and a day to give you one doughnut through the drive-thru. I waited about 15 mins in line between cars to receive my stale doughnut. This Shipley's in particular is hands down my go-to when I'm simply craving beignets or a fresh glazed donut late at night. You're probably thinking,"What? Shipley serves beignets?" Yeah, I KNOW. Their beignets are amazing. Not only are they fresh but the amount of fluffiness and powdered sugar dusted on top is everything you could ask for in a beignet. Donut tell me this is not the place to be at 2:17 a.m. I go here nearly every week and get loaded with classic Texas donut/kolache delicacies. Their fresh glazed donuts are the best thing to happen since sliced bread. Their kolaches are perfectly baked with mouthwatering sausages nestled right in the middle, melted cheese bathing it. Everything is amazing, BUT the beignets are the things that set this place apart from any other donut place or Shipley's. Second best to only Café Du Monde. I am really obsessed!! Since Krispy Kremes stopped its busiess in Houston, I latterly quit eating donuts. However, one day I was off and woke up early and was craving them so bad. So went to this location and they were serving them FRESH and HOT. since that day I was captured . Now I call them 5min ahead of time and they will actually make me HOT donuts when I want them 24/7 as I wish. I was going back-and-forth a lot on whether to give this location 2 or 3 stars... I had decided on three, but now that I've written out the pros and cons, I feel two is more appropriate. First, the good stuff: The doughnuts were not really dry like some other Shipley's I've been to. I couldn't tell a huge difference, but it was there. Also, I learned that to get the free order of beignets, I had to purchase something from their coffee menu. I generally hate coffee, but I decided to try the white chocolate latte and it was NOT bitter, but DELICIOUS! I was initially annoyed when I found out I had to buy a coffee for the deal, but at least it was yummy! Ok, onto the bad... I knew I had to try this location when I saw on Yelp that they have beignets and had a special deal on here. I liked them and thought they were good, but just keep in mind I'd never tried them before until this time. The problem was more so the employee that assisted me with getting them: I explained to her that there was a deal on Yelp for them (unfortunately, my lack of experience with Yelp deals kept me from pressing the darn thing enough times to see you had to buy an expensive coffee to get the deal) and this lady looked at me like I was from outer space. Then she said it was probably expired and showed no interest in looking at the deal as I tried to show her that it is currently up and should be valid. She was never really downright rude, but I got the distinct feeling as soon as I walked in the door (smiling at her and cheerfully greeting her) that she couldn't wait for me to leave. Mind you, one couple had just left there as I went in, and there was NO ONE else there. Another big reason I took off so many stars: I was so excited when I saw several pictures on Yelp of the donuts actually laying flat in the boxes. Everywhere but Krispy Kreme always lines them standing up and if you have any donuts with icing, it comes off as it's smushed into another donut. I was always annoyed by this fact, and got happy when I thought I could finally get some donuts in Houston without this happening. WRONG! This lady threw them in there so haphazardly that they weren't even all lined up, and the ones with icing were smushed (just like I hate!). I was so devastated (ok, maybe that's a bit strong...but still pretty annoyed) that I tried to rescue them as the lady looked on, obviously annoyed with me for not wanting the icing to come off. Well, they were ruined by the time I got home because I would have had to take them all out to actually try to prevent the dreaded icing rub-off. I don't think I'll be making the trek out to this location again since the donuts didn't taste that different and they still didn't lay them flat. read more

They are very slow at the drive-thru even without other cars. BUT my items come out fresh and hot normally. And they offer free beignets w/purchase of a special coffee (i.e. a latte, which is good and they'll flavor it). To get the hot and fresh beignets, you also have to check in through yelp and show them you did it. It's a good deal, worth $5. There is both a Yelp deal and a Check in offer. This is a concept store so they have options not available at other locations like varying coffee drinks and beignets. They also have a drive thru and a mobile app where you can place you order and have your donuts ready for you when you get there. We used the app, and found things almost done by the time we got there. Even late at night on a weekday the drive thru had a line, so the mobile app made things go quicker. Sadly, the donuts were a bit stale. I am guessing they were made that morning. However, the beignets and iced white chocolate coffee were really good. I have been eating Shipley's since I was little. The past few years most of the stores have let the quality slip. Then they opened this location and I must say I am blown away by the freshness. Yeah yeah yeah the do-nuts are good but lets talk about kolaches. They are always balked just right. The bread is fluffy and moist not dried and shrunken like most other places. (dairy ashford Im' looking at you.) The staff is always helpful and the shop is always clean. I came in to try the beignets after all the praise I heard on yelp and I have to say that they didn't disappoint! They are in no way comparable to cafe du monde but they still make for a good alternative whenever you're craving beignets! I also tried the chai tea latte and loved it...
