I was excited about their special deal on beignets, so I headed over to see what Shipley's had to offer. Deeee-lish. Huge, fluffy, warm beignets covered in powdered sugar! Their blended coffee drinks were also quite tasty and a good complement to the beignets. You wouldn't know it by the line out the door on a Sunday morning, but this place sells the same donuts as every other Shipley in Houston. It's obviously a very popular store in the chain, but it was just as good as any other Shipley. I only like their devil food donut, so that's all I got. I find their regular ones just too big and spongy honestly. read more

The 5 star rating is no joke people. This is one of the nicest places I've ever visited. The drive-thru window is awesome. It's 24 hours. Everyone inside is really nice. I would actually give it an 3.5 Service: 3.5 It wasn't good or bad, but we were the only one there and the pace was slow. I pre-ordered my donuts about 10 minutes ahead of time and it seems like it took them a while to find my order...and that place is pretty small. Beignet: 3.5 I don't think it was super good, or my expectations were too high. It's fluffy, it's airy, but it's not the right dough? When I eat it, the dough kind of sinks in and tastes heavy. My stepmom liked it, she admit it wasn't a beignet, but more like a doughnut/bread. Something seems off, even though it tasted okay, it may depend on the person. Doughnuts: It was hot, I preferred the dried glazed, but since this was hot the glaze melted which gave the doughnut another taste. It wasn't a bad taste, just unfamiliar. Price: $5 for 4 Beignets Overall the workers were polite, they answered all my questions and were patient. (Unlike the one on Bellaire that hanged up on me) The beignets were not at fault, it's just it wasn't a real beignet. Or my tastes are a bit weird. Why forth are half-stars not available on thou, Yelp? This place is definitely a 4.5 star. Let me just profess how much I adore this place for a morning donut shop. The Shipley's on Westheimer just inside the loop can't even come closer to comparing to the awesomeness that is this location. My boyfriend and I live right down the street from this place. It is open 24 Hours and has fantastic service (for most of the morning and weekend crews anyway) and very tasty selections. Not ONLY do they have donuts that you won't see at other locations (like the Bullseyes, fritters, etc) but they also have a full coffeeshop menu that has anything you were fixing to pick up at Starbucks on your way home to complete that breakfast, except cheaper and just as tasty, if not more. They also have delicious kolaches, Shipley's mugs and merchandise, etc. This is not your average Shipley's Donuts store. Since their menu was more expansive than one would expect of a franchise store, they have a simple, informative three-fold of their menu offerings that was just begging for a permanent post on our fridge. We didn't even know about their coffee options until we arrived last Saturday to feed the donut cravings. Coming here that morning made our whole day. The food was warm and delicious and were just the right thing to wake us up. Their frappes and lattes were tasty and very well-made. The staff was so friendly and polite - like being there was more than just a job and the genuinely enjoyed themselves and each other's company and the company of the customers. They provided us with punch cards (which, clearly, are going to be filled soon) to redeem a free beverage after 10 punches. They also pointed out specials that they were having. Overall, I think this place just did a great job putting everything together and making it a one-stop shop. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because we have been here during non-peak times since they are open 24 hours. While the donuts were still ace in quality, the service and preparation of our coffees were not on par with the morning crew we've encountered several times. Been coming here for over a decade. The pastries and kolachies are always on point. They always have fast and friendly service. Even today when they had to void the ticket and rerun the items. Who doesn't love glazed donuts especially when they're hot and fresh? Previously located next to Cane's, but now their individual store (so a little closer towards Dairy Ashford). Make sure you check Groupon for a deal prior to coming here. Groupon deals are usually $4 for a dozen of glazed donuts. Even though you are using a Groupon, they never hesitate to deliver the best donuts. The guy who often takes our order is very sweet and even tells you to have a delicious night. The most fresh donuts I have ever had at 10PM! This was my first time ever having Shipley Do-Nuts and I am so glad I came here. Ordered a dozen donuts, half were glazed and the other a random assortment. Each and every one looked right out of the oven(the glazed were especially warm and so moist). The beignets are fantastic. I don't think they are quite as good as Cafe Du Monde; however, they are an excellent substitute for when you don't want to drive 7 hours to NOLA. They are made fresh to order and come generously topped with powdered sugar. Currently, if you check in on Yelp, you get a free order of beignets with the purchase of a drink. I ordered the cafe au lait; however, next time I think I will just get a plain coffee. It didn't taste like the cafe au lait is made with chicory coffee (they don't advertise this) and there was just a little too much milk for my liking. Service was SUPER, SUPER, SUPER slow on Sunday after church. I mean this was completely and totally ridiculously slow. It probably took 20 minutes to go through the drive thru. I give it 3.5 stars for the hot, sometimes SCORCHING HOT donuts! However a 1 star for the Extra Long drive-Thru line! Every time I come here, I just order 2 glaze donuts and maybe a strawberry lemonade (which surprisingly is very good) I end up waiting over 10mins! This Shipley's has nice staff/atmosphere but their "check-in" offer is shady. It doesn't mention upfront that you have to make a specific purchase for it to be valid. It seems like a sketchy marketing ploy to get customers in the door. Also, the Kolaches at this location are close to $3 each. I just spent $5 at a Shipley's for a Kolache and a doughnut - never thought the Houston staple would try to charge similar to one of the gourmet places. Also, the owner has left some comments below but there are other Shipley's locations that make fresh and quality items (without charging a higher rate or sketchy schemes). I just think honestly would go a long way with their customers. There are other chains/restaurants that offer their products for free on check-ins or via coupons because they value their products and want to pass that sense of price to their customers, including ones that have a price over $5/$6. read more

There´s no place like this particular Shipley´s. Heres why: It´s the only place around where you can get fresh hot glazed 24/ 7. They have exteded their drinks menu (frappes and smothies!), the amazing beignets are worth waiting for (not long at all), AND to top it all off, their great customer service at night.
