Cute little cozy coffee spot located in the middle of Memorial shopping center. It's not very spacious inside. There's only a few tables and all the seats were taken so I had to take my coffee to go. Service was friendly and helpful. I was promptly greeted as I walked up to the counter and I was thanked by the barrister after she handed me my coffee. This alone made it the experience enjoyable. =) My latte was good, not great. Just good. I always love coming to Verbena whenever I'm back in Houston. I study here and have lil coffee dates with friends and family. It always feels warm and inviting. It's pretty small and cozy with a homey vibe. Although there's minimal seating, I haven't had an issue with finding a spot. There's a comfortable couch, 2 cozy chairs, 4 small tables, and some high-top seating with charging ports. There's even a printer! They also have a little free library in the back, which is super cute if you want to share a book and grab a book. The baristas are all so kind, attentive, and quick. I've enjoyed their iced chai and iced vanilla latte. They also offer pastries and snacks. There's plenty of lot parking. Overall, Verbena is one of my go-to coffee shops in Houston and I highly recommend it! read more

What's neat is there's a little roastery operation in the enclosed room in the cafe, and sell local roasted coffee. They also feature what seem to be local artists and support a toy drive. Does feel very community-centric! Only one ding, there's cream soda on the menu but $4.90 a pop is a bit much for just canned soda (even if it's more premium), I would've thought it was house-made. The staff are some of the nicest and happiest people I've ever encountered. I wasn't sure what to get but I noticed in the reviews that the lavender latte was popular. Verbena Coffee is a great, local coffee shop that I just happened to stumble upon. I was meeting some friends in the Memorial City Centre area, but I was early so why not stop for a morning cup of coffee. Walking in, this place is very cozy and that freshly roasted coffee smell hits you right away. There was a variety of bar seats, lounge chairs, and regular tables to get some work done. All the wood features give this place a cool contemporary feel. As far as drinks go, I tried an iced mocha with almond milk. They have a variety of house made syrups so that's always a plus instead of the usual artificial syrups that other coffee shops use. The service was quick too despite it being a busy Wed morning. We stopped in on an early Sunday morning and ordered two iced lattes, lemon poppy seed slice, and cream cheese danish. Danish was my favorite part of the order, flaky croissant pastry instead of a standard type dough made this elevated. Coffees were par for us as well as the lemon poppy seed. For me, not nearly enough selection to drive repeat visits with so few unique or in house made flavors. There was a board that had some seasonal teas, but not much to stand out with. Crew behind the counter were nice. The atmosphere was a bit lacking on my visit. Needed some background music for sure, just too quiet, all I could do was hear the employees conversations since there wasn't event a peep of low-fi coffee shop music to be heard. The interior is small but cozy, and there are a lot of seats despite the size! Plenty of outlets too if you choose to sit at a counter or by the walls. The baristas are also super friendly. As in, the coffee is high quality with global roasts featured daily. I had an iced latte with salted caramel and it was...wow. The other syrups claim to be house made. I ordered hot chocolate, nothing special. Hot and delicious. Verbena has aesthetically pleasing interior and is decorated nicely. I'd say it has a minimalist touch. I had Verbena a couple years back and I wasn't impressed. However, I tried it recently and was pleasantly impressed. The interior looks vastly different than it looked before, it's more inviting and comfortable. I asked a lot of questions, which they answered with ease. I should mention that the frappe still has caffeine and it's a noticeable taste as the worker told me. I got a cream cheese danish, iced brown sugar latte, and a vanilla cream soda. For the cream soda, they added actual cream with the soda, which I consider pretty cool. I spent around $21 items for the 4 items purchased. The drinks were there taste wise and quality wise. The pasteries were a bit of a let down. They tasted kinda stale and it's something I won't get again. I recommend this place for good drinks and ambiance ! read more

Okay... this place is awesome! I got off work and had to run a few errands in this area and came across Verbena. I love my coffee creamy, strong and a bit sweet and wow. They exceeded my expectations!! I got the iced caramel latte, and my sis got the iced vanilla latte. Delicious! It hit the spot. My sis also got the almond croissant and raved about how delicious it was. The interior was adorable and so cozy and quiet. This was a recommendation on behalf of my lovely sister who is a true coffee drinker and knows all the true cafes in Houston. I'm a hot cocoa drinker so I'm more apt to pick a few places and repeat. My sister ordered an extra hot latte. She really really enjoyed it! I ordered a hot cocoa and I was blown away that something so simple could taste so delightful!
