Made reservations here for two nights to attend a beer festival in Astoria. Got emails reminding us of our stay with check in info. Got there and the place is closed and out of business. All sorts of signs on the door including one from the health department. Glad we weren't able to stay there given that but would have been nice to know we didn't have a room. Scrambled to find another place to stay worried that there was no availability due to the popular beer festival but we lucked out and go a room at the Hampton Inn in Astoria. If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place needs a wrecking ball taken to it. Daytime front desk girl, not friendly and couldn't give a care in the world to any concerns. This establishment does not support veterans. I was quoted for a room with a military discount. Once I was ready to book. I was told by the manager that they will not honor the military discount due to the holidays. I do not understand how you can support veterans but when the time comes you take it away just so you can make an extra $40 for a room. Very hypercritical. read more

Website lists free breakfast, but they don't have one. Hot tub was broken and could not be used. No coffee in the lobby although they have a machine. They do not clean your rooms each day, had to go to the lobby to get fresh towels. Carpet was very stained. Was excited about the restaurant right next door, but it has been closed for 6 months according to the staff. Cleanliness was ok. Staff was nice. What a dump! Will never stay there again. Doesn't look like the windows have been washed since the place was built. It doesn't matter if you have a view room if you can't see out the windows. Stayed here one night and it was ok. The Pros: Good location, Large rooms, Clean, Staff was very nice, Huge, comfortable bed and that is the most important. The Cons: WAY WAY overpriced. We paid $229 for the one night which is ridiculous considering the age of the hotel, etc. Yes, it has a pool but it's very small and doesn't look the most inviting. The rooms are clean but old and need some updates and repairs, cracked tiles, etc. We only had 2 towels. The TV was small and couldn't be turned towards the bed. The breakfast was terrible. They indicated omelets, biscuits and gravy, etc and while all of those items were there, they were ALL frozen and needed to be heated up in the 2 microwaves. So if you wanted anything HOT, EVERYTHING had to be microwaved. I don't mind that for a less expensive hotel but at $229 a night, I would like hot breakfast that I don't have to reheat. read more

Me and my girlfriend arrived here like at 5pm and restaurant was closed. The hot tub was broken and couldn't use it and the huge indoor pool couldn't use it either. Crist the gym equipment was even broken. This place is looking to look like a shit hole. They even charge you a fifty dollar damage fee. Like really. Just to stay one night was like one hundred and thirty dollars. Worst of all their isn't a continental breakfast. I would just keep driving and head to the Holiday Inn at Astoria. read more

They openly advertise things like an indoor pool, steam room, and a hot tub along with complementary breakfast. They had none of that, I had over paid for a motel six. They charged me an extra fifty dollar fee just cause they can. The lady even profiled us and said a smoking violation would make sense. She assumed we would smoke in the room! They informed us they had been lacking staff and wouldn't be offering room service when we checked in. The floor was decorated with multi colored stains and a strip of duct tape to hold the carpet down. Building had an old smell. Very Dangerous sharp blind Corner pulling into the parking lot. We had no silverware, we went to the front office for bowls ,and all they gave us was two red solo cups for our soup. I was stuck here for three boring nights. I had packed swimsuits for us and we just wasted space and got our hopes up. Going to the coast the mandatory utilities are an indoor pool and complementary breakfast. I knew this was a rough start for our trip. It was disappointing and had to make the most out of it. I will avoid any Shilo inns after this experience I feel like I got scammed. They're falsely advertising amenities that they have had shut down since Covid. It's been three years since. Only one guy was working on the pool room I hardly seen him do anything the one day he was working. The pool was half full of stagnant water. The "fitness room" was just a broken treadmill. It was 530$ to stay here for three nights with no services or any amenities. It was boring and disappointing. The bed was comfortable, the couch smelt like urine. They was brown stains inside the toilet where they didn't scrub and the whole place was really empty. It felt like I was helping them more then they had helped me. I entirely regret picking Shilo at warrenton. We almost got t boned from a car doing 60mph trying to leave the parking lot and a day later there was a wreck on that road. I'd sum this hotel up with these words Over priced False advertisement And Dirty This hotel didn't ruin my trip but it played a huge role in making my vacation miserable. The pool really bothers me, they need to advertise that it's out of order. I know it's my fault for not calling and usually we do just to check but I was too excited to book and the website had over glorified this place. Also Covid was three years ago they need to not use that as an excuse for the complementary breakfast. The restaurant that had been advertised in Expedia was out of business so we walked to natural grocers for microwaveable food and snacks. They're lacking money and business (for a good reason) I dont enjoy complaining but this was a terrible hotel I wouldn't be surprised if this place went out of business this year. We made a reservation on Hotels.com, went to check in and they were sold out even though we already paid. The guy at the front was rude and said there was nothing he could do. Also, the person in front of us was turning in her keys, she went up to her room and it had not been cleaned. (This is during COVID). This kind of service is totally unacceptable and there is no excuse especially the COVID excuse. Other hotels are handling it extremely well. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

We have stayed here over the past 26 years and have always enjoyed our stay! We love the Shilo restaurant next door, Jim's Roadside Grill. JIM'S ROADSIDE GRILL 1605 E Harbor St, Warrenton, OR 97146 Phone: (503) 861-8338 We ate here Monday February 19th 2018, it was wonderful. They have 1/2 off meals for over 55 on Mondays!!!!! A New York Strip Steak and Lobster Dinner was only $15.00! The restaurant was nicely set, clean, the staff was efficient and friendly! I had the Mushroom Ravioli and Tiramisu, our senior friends had steak and lobster, and my husband had the fish, shrimp, and clam platter! Some of us enjoyed an "one time through" the salad bar with the Ravioli/Steak & Lobster. The food was beautiful. Everything came out together, hot, and done just right! They have a bar too!Friday night they have Prime Rib Dinner for $12.00! I have included several photos to show you more... you and your friends and family will love this place. read more

Aside from the filthy edges of the carpeting, the room was very clean. But ridiculously loudly dated. The decor screams 1982', with faded mauve paintings in gold frames. The room reminded me of a dumbed down Siegfried and Roy dressing room. Even the posters in the elevator feature a 1980's couple, big hair and all, enjoying ocean side dining at its mediocre-est Look, they are trying. They are nice and they try to maintain the property. But for $135 a night, it needs to feel like 2014, not pre -Madonna. read more

I love the Shilo in Warrenton, but I hate the huge increase in price for a room during salmon season. Seriously, $199, really??? Come on Man! I drop some serious coin on fishing equipment, my boat, gas, bait, and food for a nice 3-4 day fishing trip and you have to bend me over for $200 a night. Stayed here a lot of times for military monthly training, when they used to put up the soldiers. The ladies were always very friendly and helpful for us, telling us the best places to go or eat. They were particularly friendly with my father because of how many times he's stayed, and what a pleasant person he was to them. Sometimes they'd let us stay in the best rooms because of it. I am NOT a morning person. Eleven AM is my time that I get up, anything before and I'm grouchy all day. But the breakfast here offers waffles that I just cannot say no to. I WILL get up to get the waffles and go right back to sleep. It's a waffle machine you make the waffles yourself, but the batter has crack in it, or something. It's old and outdated, and really needs a remodel, but I've always had a great time here and enjoyed my stay. read more

I have to give the desk clerk who checked us in two thumbs up. She handled check-in with patience, grace, and compassion. If you read my reviews I often talk about customer service. Not only am I instrumental in helping to run several small local businesses, but I have spent more than a decade working in the field of customer service. I find it more than irritating that, in today's volatile job market, where jobs are scarce and those WITH jobs should be top-notch workers who not only give a shit that they have a job, but who are doing jobs that they can actually excel at. I also come from an angle of being a parent to two kids, one of which has Autism. My son was excited to be at the hotel. He clapped and hooted a few times and expressed himself in vocal tones rather than words (as he is non-verbal). The woman working at the desk was patient, sweet, and interacted with both of my kids. The hotel itself is stuck in the 80's The decor is either brilliant or a nightmare (it depends on how you feel about this era) even down to the poster that is encased in glass that hangs in the elevator with photographs of people portraying guests of various Shilo Inns (one look at this and I would defy you to call it anything other than 1984). The room was clean. The hotel itself was clean. While the price was a bit of a shock, the realization that we were staying on Labor Day set-in and the pill became a bit less jagged. My wife and I have stayed at the Shilo Inn, Warrenton, Oregon many times over the past 15 year, and many times have said we would not go back. This time we mean it! Our recommendation: If you are in the Astoria/Warrenton area stay ANYWHERE other than Shilo Inn. Sleep in your car if you have to--it will be a better experience and much, much cleaner. We kept going back because of location--we have family nearby in the area. At the end of September, 2021 we booked a room on line for 3 nights. The hotel has 4 floors, and floors 1 and 2 two have "pet friendly" rooms. We requested a room on the 3rd or 4th floor (which are not pet rooms) because we didn't really want sleep in a bed that someone's golden retriever had slept in the night before. Upon check-in, we were told there were no rooms available on the 3rd or 4th floor, so we reluctantly accepted a room on the 2nd floor. Since we made our reservations on-line through a third party, we wanted our room rate to be confirmed upon check in--which was confirmed by the front desk clerk who hand wrote the rate on our reservation paper. We asked about the pool and hot tub and were told the pool was available--even though the water was green, looked dirty, and the low light made the whole area look dark and dingy. The hot tub was "broken" and would be repaired "soon"--but not soon enough for our stay. The carpets on the way to our room were filthy--especially in the elevators. The room was old and tired, but adequate. Upon check out, we were informed that our room rate was over $35 HIGHER than we were quoted on line and on which the check in clerk had written on our reservation paper. The check out clerk (a different person) said there was nothing she could do about the discrepancy, and of course, the manager was "unavailable". They already had my credit card number and it was clear that it would be a fight to get it resolved, so we let it go--life is too short. But incredibly, we chose to make reservations at the Shilo Inn in Warrenton AGAIN AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2021!!!--3 nights from October 24th-October 27th. I guess we are slow learners. This time we made reservations directly with the front desk and were ASSURED we would have a non pet friendly room on the 3rd or 4th floor. When we arrived, about 7:00pm after a 6 hour drive, we were told that the 2nd and 3rd floors were unavailable because they were undergoing a "deep cleaning", and that the 4th floor was fully booked. So the only rooms available were on the 1st floor. I asked if there was ANYTHING available on the 4th floor and the desk clerk checked and found a room with a single King Sized bed. We said that sounded fine, and asked if it was a nice room. The desk clerk said she didn't know since she had only been working at the Shilo Inn for 3 weeks and hadn't been up there. When I asked why not, she said it was because she didn't like the smell of fish. When asked why does the 4th floor smell like fish, she said that fish process workers had taken over the entire 4th floor for several weeks and that after many days of work, their clothes were saturated with fish smells. And apparently these smells permeated the entire 4th floor--including the rooms! (Essentially, the entire 4th floor was being used as a "bunkhouse" for fish process workers!) Clearly that was not going to work for us, but it was late and we were tired, and decided to accept a 1st floor room. But before finalizing the room, we asked the desk clerk if we could see the room she wanted to check us into--mainly we wanted to check for pet smells. The desk clerk said she couldn't show us the room ahead of time because of Covid. I asked if she could just open the door and let us look inside without us going in, and again, she said "no"--if she opened the door to let us look inside she would have to charge us for the room because it would then be considered "used" and would have to be cleaned. Just for opening the door to let us look inside??? We have both been double vaccinated against Covid and were wearing masks. Clearly saturating an entire floor with fish smells and who knows what else from processed fish was not a health hazard, but letting two mask wearing double vaccinated people LOOK into a room WAS a health hazard. The final straw was that the hot tub was still broken, and now the pool was also broken. As tired as we were, we decided to find another place--which thankfully we were able to do for only slightly more than the $150/night the Shilo Inn was charging us. The desk clerk assured us she would cancel our reservation with no charge, but I will obviously have to check on that. The moral of the story is that we are slow learners, but we do learn. NEVER, NEVER NEVER again will we stay at the Shilo Inn at Warrenton, Oregon. We hope those reading this will learn from our experience. read more

I got a room here because I'm working on the road, and was having trouble finding a place to work with internet and out of the rain. It was a waste because the wifi is so weak, I could hardly get anything done. Frustrating. As far as other things about it, I don't think the floor had been cleaned as I saw hairs on the floor and other debris. I did enjoy the sauna. It is overall older and a little funky. Big room. Bed was alright, although there was a suspicious smell emanating from somewhere in the room that smelled like urine. read more

The hotel itself is older but clean, bed was very comfortable, breakfast was average, the big disappointment is the staff, I have stayed here three times so I have tried to make it work. The staff is friendly but phony, direct and in charge. This time I was over charged, and charged for a night I did not stay... and it took three weeks, several call including to the corporate office to at least get the extra day removed. The Warrenton manager refused to believe her people were anything but the best. I paid extra for the one night I stayed. Lesson learned. read more

Not impressed and this will be the last time I stay here. I've come a couple times hoping to see improvements after making comments. However, nothing has been done. The rooms as stated below are "loudly" outdated. The pool and spa are brown. The location is great. At one time Shilos were the place to stay. No longer is that the case. The staff is very friendly. The included breakfast is standard premade frozen breakfast food. I bought fruit to supplement since the fresh food aspect is lacking. The coffee is quite good. The location has an indoor pool, spa and saunas. The pool is cold for being indoor and the surface is stained brown which is off putting. The spa is nicely heated. The exercise room has a bike, treadmill and multipurpose machine.I did not use it, but it seems adequate. The steam sauna has a mildew smell that is so bad it is unusable.The location is convenient to the beach, restaurants and national parks. The room has outdated decor but the beds are comfortable. My room had a small kitchen which I did not use. Overall cleanliness is fair. In my opinion, the room and pool area could have been cleaner. Given the low price of a nightly stay, you get what you pay for. read more

This was a relatively long-stay place for us while we relocated to the area, so we had a room with a kitchenette. The dishwasher and toaster made the kitchenette better than at some other places. Also, our room looked out on a slough thru some trees, so it was usually quite quiet and there was water fowl to watch. Desk and housekeeping staff were all quite friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nothing special. As someone else noted, the place is stuck in the past in some ways, especially that ancient poster in the elevator! We didn't appreciate the close proximity of dogs in the hall a couple times and the barking we could sometimes hear. Also, the computer in the lobby, which we needed to use to print some things, never did work during our stay. The location is convenient and much easier to negotiate than the many places in Astoria. However, perhaps because it's almost the only motel in town (the other is a dumpy place in Hammond), the rate increases for holidays are truly egregious even if the place does fill up in spite of them. read more

The price was appealing - $99 a night. Lesson learned. Perhaps I'm a bit spoiled, but unless you love the light blue and mauve color scheme of the 80's, beds that leave your whole body hurting in the morning, and the sound of thud thud thud as people walk past your room (all night long), you will probably want to look elsewhere. We don't have TV at home, so staying in a hotel is a treat my daughter looks forward to. The only kids channel they have is "Nicktoons" which seemed to mostly play anime type cartoons all evening and was not pleasant. It is relatively clean, the staff is nice, the wi-fi worked pretty well with minor glitches. I won't stay here again though - it just needs a major facelift - major! I'll pay the extra $40 and stay across the river. read more

We've been on the road for two weeks now and this is our least favorite place to stay. The room smelled strongly of disinfectant and no other rooms were available. To add insult to injury, they charged us $209 before taxes, the most on the whole trip. Their restaurant has gone out of business. Won't ever stay there again. The beds are super comfortable, but the walls are thin and the plumbing noisy. There was no water in the vending machines but there was a Walgreens across the street. Also the gym is less than okay. Stayed here on business one night. Location is superb and close to multiple points of interest. Rooms are clean, but showing their age a bit. Free Breakfast has several options but anything most people desire hot has to be prepared in microwave. This is fine for the frozen omelettes and burritos, but the day I was there it was apparently too much trouble for the staff to plug in the crock for the gravy to go on the biscuits. read more

We have stayed here multiple times - our favorite go-to place at the coast because the rates are affordable and they have a pool. Bobbie in the breakfast room is a big plus - she works so hard and keeps everything stocked. It's a pretty good breakfast as far as Continental breakfasts at hotels go. read more

Shilo inns in warrington or. was a comfortable and nice stay. Enjoyed the king beds very comfortable , great breakfast, large TV's , fridge microwave in room. Pool / sana & jet tub access was in hotel no need to go building to building in the cold outdoors. A special than u to Kim& Bobbie is in order. read more
