We stayed in Astoria Bowline hotel which is located right on the wharf it is a small hotel as you walk in there is a bar on the right side and in the right side center is the front desk and the left side is a lounge that serves meals and cocktails. They have an outside lanai area for dinning also. The room was located on the ground floor, the room was on the larger size with a balcony and side room. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower and a foldable seat in the shower. You can either valet park for $15.00 or park your car on the street for free which there were lots of parking around the valet parking lot. Conveniently located walking distance to restaurant and lounge area.

Valet parking is worth it. if you don't get it, you have to find a parking space on the street. Very walkable to the whole town. Once the car was parked in the lot, we never moved it. Super easy check in, friendly nice people. Well managed. Free welcome champagne. Historical photos on the walls in the hallways were really cool to look at. The room was huge! And the river view was gorgeous with a small patio. The cement floors are jarringly hard and very cold. Would've liked more rugs. The huge in-room bathtub was nice, robe and slippers a bonus. Bathroom shower a little anemic with non adjustable shower head. Shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, hand soap, bath, salts, all smelled fantastic, and made me google the makers. The bedside tables were tiny, and there were not enough plugs for me to plug in my phone between the lamp being plugged in and the sound machine... which was excellent-- I need to get one! Walls a bit thin. Could hear the TV on other side of the wall and a guy talking very loud. I used the provided earplugs for that. Big issue: I have significant back issues and found the bed incredibly uncomfortable and way too soft. We kept rolling to the center and it was a king. Pillows-- need a variety of thick and thin. Coffee and tea in the room with the electric kettle was really nice. The pour over coffee bags worked far better than we expected. Having a fridge with a freezer on top was an unexpected bonus-- we found a little store and picked up our own yogurt and some fruit to store in the fridge for breakfast one morning and it worked great. The looseleaf teas in the little vials was pretty cool. Note to visitors that the fourth glass vial is brown sugar cubes. Honestly, it was all about the view.. watching pilot boats and huge vessels come and go had us download a nautical app to see what they were and where they'd been. On our last day we spotted seals! Bring binoculars! Saunas were great! If you're a light sleeper or need complete darkness you might not like this place. It's essentially on a dock and the thumping of the waves hitting supports can be pretty loud and shake the rooms. And the curtains are tall and don't completely close. because of the bed, and the price, I'm not sure we will be back. But it was an interesting stay.

The location could absolutely not be better. The room we were in had a balcony that was basically on a pier over the water. The Sea Lions were everything, but if you don't like nature, you will not like this place. The decor was exactly what you want from a boutique hotel, not pretentious, but details were paid attention to. The staff were friendly and happy to accommodate ground floor needs. The parking is street or valet only, but there was plenty of street parking within a block on a Thursday evening. For those with disabilities that prevent walking the valet lane is right by the front door with a ramp at either end of the walkway. The floors in the hotel and wide and flat for straight shots to the room. They had both a ceiling fan and a rotating fan in every room, a gas fireplace controlled by the thermostat. A balcony door and two windows that are easy to open. Mini fridges in the room can hold more than usually found in a hotel room. Electric kettle in the room with three tea options and coffee bags. Water carafe and water glasses. Book selection in every room was on point =) The downsides, which are only things to be aware of if you have physical issues. All furniture is lower, so if you have trouble with knees or back, that's could be an issue. The bed is super soft, a debate for the ages. We just happen to be people with back problems that do better on firm and both woke up with neck issues. Overall, the hotel was wonderful and I would stay there again, just be a little better prepared for the furniture.

Nice hotel, great location. The positives: perfect location to explore Astoria by foot, fab views of the river, spacious rooms with high ceilings, modern decor, seal and bird watching right from your room & patio, saunas available The negatives: thin walls & loud doors, no (free) parking lot (paid valet lot) The beds were interesting. I need a soft bed, but although they seemed super soft they were air mattress-like in that they were hard for me to move around on and find a comfy position. Service was friendly. Walkable to many food options, shopping, and museums. Overall a nice place to stay.

What a great hotel with the most beautiful coastal setting. Kat was very accommodating and let me know there was an upgrade available which I took, and wow, what a view I had! The guy at the front desk in the evenings was awesome too, just all around great people! You couldn't ask for a better place to stay while enjoying these open water views!

My husband and I will definitely be back! What a great experience. From the time we checked in, to the modern and yet rustic room, to the bar and amazing bartender (Katherine... I believe her name was) and the prime location basically walking distance to all the things. Our room was on the trolly side and it was quiet. The sauna access was super cool. Especially after we were a bit chilly walking around downtown.

Mushroom tart and cup of salmon chowder! Yummy!

I was looking for a lite lunch and didn't want the typical Sunday Astoria theme. I randomly drove to the end of the road and in front of me was a cool looking little scene of tables, patio chairs, and the Columbia River. And there was an upfront ADA spot AND they allowed dogs AND it wasn't loud. The staff were super nice and recommended that I try the salmon chowder and they had a few mushroom tarts left. Not your grandmas chowder. More a lite curry broth, potatoes, greens, and salmon. Both were great. The seals barking had my dog amused too. I did not stay at the hotel, but will be back!

    Free champagne upon arrival!

What a beautiful experience, not just a hotel. We wanted a quick getaway and wanted one night in a cozy place that felt luxurious. We loved it so much, we stayed two nights instead of one. We had our dog with us and it was amazing that it was pet friendly and had a patio door. We loved the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel as well, and all the staff is so friendly and helpful. The sea lions were a charming addition to the experience- our two year old was very intrigued :) thank you so much for one of the best vacays we've ever had!

Will definitely come back. Amazing experience. so close to restaurants which was super convenient. Parking was easy. Bed was comfortable. Staff was super helpful. Everything was super clean. Sea lions were not very loud- didn't need the earplugs, but was a nice gesture. Everything looked brand new.

After a long day walking around Astoria and taking in the sights, bedtime was approaching and since…read morethe-woman-who-lets-me-live-with-her (thanks Mike) and I were celebrating our anniversary, we thought we'd stop into what appears to be the worlds smallest cocktail lounge, from the window, a 2' bar and three tables. Appearances are not deceiving, that's all that there is. Plus, without the "wall o liquor" behind the bar, they are not going to make you "that cocktail you had once in the Bahamas" or even a whisky sour. Their boundaries are much tighter than that. But what they can do within those boundaries! They have charted a course through the heritage of the region, the Scandinavian taste for Akavit, and a flair for adventurous tastes and subtle flavors. And, every cocktail on the menu, has a story that goes with it! I can only speak to the two we ordered (this was a nightcap, not a bender) but they were clever, tasty, wholly unique in my experience, and not crazy expensive ($15 and $16). Apparently, a reported haunting and paranormal investigation led to the creation of "The Veil is Thin" described in the menu as a "Spicy Experimental Margarita." I am a lover of the things that come from the blessed Agave, so this is what I ordered. It arrives an the glass in the picture with a shot glass of fresh squeezed lime juice alongside. This is for the "magic trick" that takes place when you pour the lime into the glass. I won't spoil it for you, but it's not the dumbest trick I've ever seen, it works as a part of the experience. The ingredients are, now follow along in your hymnals children, house infused red cabbage tequila (!), Combier, fresh lime juice, Hell Fire bitters, dragon fruit garnish (not present in mine), black lava salt, white pepper and rose petal rim. It was spicy (especially in the aftertaste), sweet, with the heat of the white pepper and black salt on the rim. On top of that, it was a good Margarita to boot. It was an excellent cocktail and a nice, fresh take on a classic. The prohibition history of the area leads us to the Long Beach Iced Tea. With Vodka, Rum and sweet vermouth, you've got the basics, but then you elevate that with fresh lemon juice, house infused Earl Grey simple syrup, soda and then, of all things a garnish of fresh (bruised) thyme and it becomes something entirely different. You're not going to get hammered, which is what I expect from the Long Island version, but you are also not going to miss the aroma of the thyme making the drink that much better. The floral bergamot from the tea syrup takes you in a different direction and the fizz keeps the aroma flowing out of the glass. It's delicious, subtle, and worth repeating. They can accommodate larger parties by just expanding into the Broder Strand dining room, which is what happened when a boisterous group of celebrating women came in looking for a new stop on their bar tour. One of them even requested a custom drink and was, by all reports, delighted with the results. We have one more night, and I don't think we'll miss having another nightcap here. You should definitely check it out!
