Stay somewhere else! Roadtripping down the Oregon coast we stopped in seaside to visit the aquarium and decided to stay the night. My wife booked this place thinking it would be a good experience. There was no help with our luggage. I went inside to ask for help and the person over the counter "Marcus" goes "do you not see the bell carts outside?" After bringing in my bags I'm checking in I mentioned "I'm here to check in" and Marcus says "oh really? You don't say?.... I see you booked this last minute. Very interesting". At this point I'm disappointed with what we're experiencing so I try to just get the room keys and leave this old man to his misery. My wife and the kids decide to check out the heated pool before calling it a night, to their surprise, the pool is freezing cold. And the jacuzzi has a green discoloration and smells horrible. The next morning we grab some toast and make a waffle, the new guy over the counter is just staring at us doing nasty faces. Doesn't say good morning. Nothing. I'm not sure if there's something in the water or it's just a bad place to work, but the vibes here are very negative. If you have the opportunity to stay somewhere else, I would. Although our family has stayed there several times in the past, we will try a different hotel in the future. The hotel needs some repairs and updates. The Vinyl floor in elevator was chipped as were 2 vanity tops in the rooms we had. Needs paint updates.The Jacuzzi needs refinishing. Our initial impression was of it was that the walls were covered with algae but it was just really discolored. Room furniture seem mismatched. My daughter's bed creaked. Too bad. We stayed here when it first opened and really liked it. Hope it gets the care it deserves. read more

It's the first hotel where the bed didn't hurt my back or side I have fibromyalgia. The shower curtain was too short and the water flooded the bathroom. The housekeeper should have noticed that when they were cleaning the bathroom. For breakfast they didn't have any meat. And they had 2 different size waffle makers. The small round waffle maker was the one most people used it was the first one that people saw on the counter and it was next to the batter machine And on the other side of the batter machine was the bigger waffle maker and the microwave. there was no sign on the wall saying how to use the waffle maker that made the small waffles. When I mentioned it to the lady at the desk she told me it was by the waffle maker on top of the microwave. Well that's not by the small round waffle maker and it kept beeping when my husband was using it and this small woman who worked there came over to him said something to him and flipped the waffle maker. (My husband said he knew how to make waffles he just wanted to make his darker! And she didn't ask him she said something to him then just flipped it and that made him upset. Then it was beeping again he wanted it darker again she came said something to him again and opened it without asking him again). She wasn't friendly at all! On both encounters!! Then she walked away! If she's going to have an attitude with people she shouldn't be in that area. I thought the place was clean until I was walking by the bed and saw my husbands feet and got grossed out!! He had been walking the floor in our hotel room barefoot and he took a shower before we left this morning so his feet were clean!!! And when I saw his feet they were black on the bottom that is so gross !!! I'm including pictures of that!! So there not as clean as we thought. There was a couple times either at night or during the day I would go up to the counter and no one was to be found! I even yelled "Anyone here?" No response and the person was either out front or somewhere. There should have been a sign on the desk but there wasn't. The pet area is absolutely ridiculous!!!! It's 1 strip of grass and it's obstructed by a water meter thing and a garbage can and 2 slots to hold bags for picking after dogs but was empty the whole time we stayed there!! And good luck if you try to find grass else where!! I even verified that was the only pet area. After a couple times of my dog peeing there she didn't want to pee there anymore. What was the purpose of paying the $25? Oh and when it got dark out there they had no lights!! It was extremely dark and scary!!! and it has rocks and cement and grass and I could of easily tripped and cracked my head open!!! Or someone else could fall and trip and get hurt!! It's lit in the back of the building but not the side where the dog area is and it made me furious !!! I'm disabled and I could have really gotten hurt!! This is why I'm marking them so far down on there score!! They clearly don't care about people with pets and it shows!! In one of the pictures I'm showing you just outside the side door where the small pet area is! Showing you if the door is closed they don't light that side of the building it's pitch dark back there you can trip and fall!! I had to hold the door open the whole time so I could get a little bit of light and I was freaked out! On 9/24/24 4am I was outside with my dog and it was super foggy and we could hear creak creak and I know it was the sound of the wind pushing the swing! It freaked me out and it freaked my dog out and she refused to go potty and since I couldn't leave the door closed she couldn't leave my side. I confronted the guy at the counter and he said he couldn't control the wind I'm aware of that but WD40 takes care of noises like that!!!! And if they wanted a dog area they have 2 areas they could turn into bigger dog areas at the other end of the back of the building where there is a tree standing by itself that would be perfect or behind that where there is bushes remove those!! Most hotels that allow dogs have a gift basket for dogs of a couple treats and a bigger area for them to go. This hotel didn't have treats. This is why I'm marking them so far down on there score!! They clearly don't care about people with pets and it shows!!! And if you look at there pictures they post for the hotel they show a dog but they don't mention the pet area!! ** I need to add this 9/24/24 our last day my husband was eating breakfast in the dining area he had the biscuits and gravy. And was almost done eating when the lady from yesterday & someone else looked in the gravy pan and walked away quickly with it then awhile later brought out more. It made my husband nervous. When we got home a couple hours later my husband started getting sick. It's 10.30pm and he's still getting sick. I'm fine I didn't eat it I had a banana. Not OK if there was something wrong with the gravy they should have stopped people from eating it!!! read more

I stayed here on a trip where all other accommodations were through Airbnb. I was an immediate and passionate convert to that style of lodging, so feeling a tad superior regarding this one night's stay at a conventional hotel. We checked in with Lorelei, the definition of a peach. We had a great time chatting with her, and she made us feel so welcome, even pressing us to take a few of their fresh baked cookies (available in the lobby every day at 4:00pm!). And this was just the one of the small touches that make River Inn stand out from a regular ol' hotel. They have bowls of saltwater taffy at the front desk, and a small bag of that same treat welcoming you in your room. In addition, you'll find a library of DVDs, game room, fire pits in the evening, even a small playground for the kids. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, and Keirug coffee maker. The bed was comfortable, space was large, with a balcony overlooking the river, and there was even a Playstation serving as the DVD player, which means you can log in to your own Netflix account, which was kind of awesome. Location is very convenient, and while not right on the beach, within walking distance of the shore, along with a variety of restaurants (we enjoyed New Garden Asian Cuisine for a cheap dinner) and shopping. The only low point was breakfast, but I make the disclaimer that I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to food. Options consisted of coffee, hot water for tea, hot chocolate, cereal, Lil Yami brand (lactose free) yogurt, hard boiled eggs, waffle maker (with regular and sugar free syrup), three varieties of breads, bagels, and a few fruits. I wish they'd had plain or at least a clean Greek yogurt, but I made do with a few eggs and an apple. Otherwise, this was a surprisingly pleasant stay. I'm giving this a 3 star because of location, the suite was a good size, great view of the river and the mountains, love the fire pits and the playground on site and the staff was excellent. Staff was always friendly and helpful (came and switched out a DVD player that wasn't working at 10 PM and also addressed all my noise concerns like barking dogs and really loud people at 2 am). Other than that, the dishwasher wasn't working properly, the mattresses on the beds and the sofa couches need to be updated BADLY, especially on the sofa couches. They are horrible!! The noise level is pretty high, mostly because rooms that adjoin to others, you can hear everything! There are also quite a few car racers out there so anyone driving back and forth on the bridge you can hear clearly (and people getting pulled over lol). Not much selection in regards to DVDs for kids FYI Enjoyed the pool and we got it to ourselves for 30 min due to COVID. Didn't get to try the breakfast buffet (due to COVID) so it was a pretty good grab and go bag compared to other hotels I've stayed at. Walking distance to the main strip and beach (1 block to the main strip and 3-4 blocks to the beach). I'll be back to try again I'm sure! read more

We snagged a day at the beach via Groupon. The bang for your buck is here. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and quite updated. Some beach stuff can be run down, we know that. Microwave and mini fridge in our double queen room. Staff was very nice and helpful and hooked up a bunch of k cup coffees as we drink a ton! Amenities were solid, breakfast was free had waffles made fresh, lots of breads and items, and stocked the whole time. Fire put for enjoying the night, we got smores and roasted away. Indoor pool and hot tub, but it's small and just ok.. Location, cant be beat it was a quick walk everywhere youd want to be in seaside. PRO TIP : Nab a groupon and save some cash! read more

We stayed on a really busy weekend at the end of summer so the rates were over $500 a night. I wouldn't normally pay that much for this class of hotel but we really wanted to get away for the weekend. Pros: The breakfast is pretty good. They have bagels, packaged waffles, a good cereal assortment and eggs. Good for the kids. It's centrally located in town and easy to walk to restaurants and a five minute walk to the beach. They had a nice welcome basket for our dog. Their fire pits are nice but we couldn't use them because other people had them all night. Might be nice to have people reserve them for a certain time so other people get a chance. Cons: Rooms are old. Our hairdryer and soap dispenser didn't work. Floors are thin and we could hear everything the upstairs people were doing. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Overall this hotel is fine. I would have felt better if I'd paid less than $200/night but I guess when demand is high, they can afford to charge more. read more

The rooms were good, standard hotel rooms but the reason I give this place 5 stars is because of the staff... Selena the manager and John the guy at night became basically friends over our 3 night stay there early April 2023. John helped me with every question I had about restaurants and he led me in the best direction ever of where to eat and what places were not so yummy. Selena though, she made us feel like we were at home, that young lady is beyond amazing. Her knowledge of the hotel, the area and her willingness to make everyone happy makes me want to return. The only downfall I can say is that I wish that there was more chairs in the pool area. Breakfast is great as well! read more

I cannot say enough about the staff - they were WONDERFUL. Upon arriving, I noted that I had a pet - and it didn't get on my reservation, so she quickly made sure I had a pet-friendly room, and then gave me a basket of treats, towels, sheets, and a bowl for my pup. The facilities are super clean, and I understand the place is new - and it shows. Firepit and playground outside are great, and a separate area for dogs to do their business. The staff does try to enforce "quiet hours", and the guests for the most part comply. We were there during a rather large basketball tournament, so there were kids running around all the time; however the front desk person made sure to let me know that would be the case - and that quiet hours started at 10. Negative: First room only had 2 small lights (room was super dark!) so we moved to a suite which smelled vaguely of dog pee (we had to keep the windows open and Lysol everything). This is a very lovely, quiet, clean and up to date 3 story inn that included an indoor heated pool and balcony, 2 very important benefits that not all hotels at the coast offer. Many local inn's are very outdated and have a depressing feel, but that is not the case here. The pics I posted aren't great, because I didn't take them. My peeps were suppose to also take a photo of the pool but forgot to. They currently offer free breakfast, and I was told they are working on getting a license to offer hot foods too which will be great. There are 2 views, the river view rooms are the better choice versus the distant mountains/parking view. read more

The staff is fantastic and was very accommodating. They provide cookies for kiddos and taffy in room! With COVID we were skeptical to travel to the beach, but we are sure glad we did. Everything is clean. And I mean CLEAN. Staff and guests are always in masks. I'll admit we were a little bummed about the pool being closed, even for private reservations, but the fire pits are still open. Great central location, resulting in a small parking lot, but a short walk to the downtown area and easy beach access. The beds (even the pull out sofa) are extremely comfortable. Wonderful choice for a stay at Seaside. My husband and I recently spent a long weekend here with our almost 4 year old and we all really enjoyed our visit. It is the perfect central location to be able to walk around downtown or down to the beach. Downtown was a block away and the beach was about 5 blocks away. The rooms were spacious and clean and we enjoyed having a view of the river from our room. Our 3 year old loved going for a swim each night in the pool before bed and I enjoyed a dip in the hot tub each evening. They have a complimentary breakfast of muffins, cereal, fruit, toast, boiled eggs and fresh waffles which was a pleasant surprise. We didn't take advantage of it but they had complimentary bike rentals as well. We have already booked our next trip back. read more

I wonder if this hotel removes negative reviews !! We got this place for 3 nights based on good reviews. But when we get there, it looked like a cheap motel. One of the front desk woman was sort of middle age with long brown hair. She was extremely rude to customers. They should not let her to work. It was embarrassing seeing her yelling and arguing with customers. Rooms are super small with view to parking lot .we could not sleep at night due to cars and noises. The pool was full of kids yelling, screaming and crying. Location is close to downtown and shops but it was nothing like a hotel. It might be okay for low income people but if you want a nice hotel, this is not the one. Fortunately my husband and I found a different hotel the second day and left. I've stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions this summer - one was in a double queen room with a view and the other was a king room with a view. I booked both rooms at a discounted rate through Groupon and it was well worth the money! I highly recommend this hotel because it's small, cozy, and has very friendly staff. The hotel is super clean because it was recently remodeled. When I came the first time, their patio had some lawn chairs and tables. The second time back, they added a children's playground and a fire pit. The hotel overlooks the river which is not that cool but still it's a view. You can watch people paddle boating down the river from your room. If you choose a room with a view that means it will overlook the river. In the morning there is complimentary breakfast with waffles, fruit, bagels, muffins, and cereal. It's not a bad breakfast and the common area is super cute! At night you can relax in the pool/hot tub, then grab a free dvd downstairs by the front desk to watch. They don't really keep track of the DVDs so we took 3-4 up to our room to choose from. Pretty good mix of movies and many new movies as well! We didn't spend most of our time in the hotel/room besides in the morning and night but our stay was fabulous. My family loved the hotel and we will definitely book here again for our next beach excursion! read more

We came right before the covid outbreak and naturally it hit while we were staying so a few places were open which was a blessing and we stayed at the river inn, Aimee [amy??] Was absolutely AWESOME. She did everything she could to make these kids the happiest because the pool closed down the game rooms - it was insanity. But aimee made our stay extra special. If it werent for her id say the staff was cold and distant, or the movie grumpy old men comes to mind for the night staff. Great value for the price. Brought my son and dog for a weekend getaway and we really enjoyed our stay. My son spent a lot of time in the indoor pool/Jacuzzi as well as the game room where we played ping pong, checkers, foosball, and shuffleboard. The continental breakfast was great - waffles, fruit, cereal, muffins, toast, eggs, juice, coffee...and the lobby was full of tables to eat at. There were free DVD rentals for our room. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. Our room faced the river and was really nice to wakeup to that sunrise. There is also a fire pit area, which we didn't use but it looked cozy. My only complaint is that I wish the indoor pool had window shades for privacy...some random person kept walking by the window and staring in while my son and I were using the jacuzzi. read more

They've decided to raise their rates to $435 a night!! How ridiculous to be doing that during a pandemic!!

We forgot my husband's Northface jacket in our room. Staff confirmed they got it from our room. Went to pick it up the next week and jacket was gone. Hotel Manager avoided our calls for two weeks. Escalated to Operations Manager Sherry who was very rude and unwilling to replace the jacket or investigate the staff for theft. Had to file a police report last week. Sherry mentioned another alleged theft a week prior from another hotel guest. Obviously this hotel has a theft issue amongst their staff that they will not acknowledge or remedy. Also, pool area is very dirty and not maintained well. Shame on this hotel! read more

River Inn at Seaside is the best place to stay: clean, up to date, 2 blocks from the boardwalk & beach, within walking distance to a couple restaurants and a grocery store. They offer free continental breakfast, indoor pool, our balcony faced the water so we could see the sunset and even have a happy hour in the evening where you can enjoy 2 drinks (beer or wine) and offer light snacks. The location is convenient for day a trip to Astoria or Cannon Beach. read more

This was one of the highlights of our West Coast trip. The rooms are nice and clean and relatively new. I think they said they were only five years old. They have a lot of features at this hotel like a movie library, Smore's, fire pit, heated pool, Free salt water taffy, a small kids play area, free bike rental, free Santora's tomorrow, ping-pong table and exercise room and game room. My family joined the saltwater pool and hot tub, the movie collection you can borrow in the lobby and the kids loved the game room. My husband and I stayed here with our 2 small pups and I can not say enough positive things about the Inn, the Staff and our stay. We started out our vacation at Gearheart by the Sea and after a terrible experience in the condo we rented (T445 - if booking this condo, please read my review) - - and Miss Jocelyn at the River Inn saved our vacation - literally! Our best friends were getting married on the Beach at Gearheart, it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we were traveling with 2 small dogs during peak season! Everyone was booked and/or didn't accept 2 dogs. Jocelyn was able to squeeze us in for the rest of our stay at the coast and went above and beyond to text with us to get us in earlier - as we did have to stay one night at Gearheart but had to check out at 11a and had no where to go! Upon arrival we found the parking convenient and the lot sparkling with fresh pots of flowers and bikes outside to rent. The lobby was bright and cheery and clean and they offered carts to haul our stuff up to the room. Upon entering our room - I almost wept - it was SO clean - I mean CLEAN and fresh and bright and modern! The pups did not smell any other pups,no stains on the carpet, fresh white fluffy bedding and even doing the lysol wipe check on high touch surfaces - - it came back white! Lets just say our housekeepers got their tip and then some! The view of the courtyard from the clean balconies with their adorable fire pits and view of the river with people paddling on swan boats was the greatest place to unwind after our devastating experience down the way. They also had a tiny lil' dog area for the pups to do their thing and it was so clean with waste bags, garbage and even a hose if needed to rinse away residue. I was so surprise how with it being so dog friendly - we never heard the other guest dogs! And we saw many! We did find the guests next door to be quite loud, but only the 1st night and they were young and were having a great time into the early hours and well, we survived - we were young once too.I'll just never be able to express how Jocelyn and the River Inn made our 1st stay at the coast so memorable! read more

We were pleasantly surprised with the level of service and hotel during our stay in Seaside here at River Inn. Location is pretty easy to find as it's a minute away from the main drag of tacky souvenir shops and diners. We were greeted upon arrival and check in was a breeze. The young gentleman that helped us check in was very thorough with what the hotel offered (cookies at 4pm, dvd library, fire pit at 5pm, breakfast, etc.) When we eventually got up to our room we were surprised again at how spacious the room was! We had a king size bed with a little living area with sofa and dining table. Even a Keurig machine with pods! Did I mentioned we had a mini fridge with freezer? Microwave, too. The bathroom was quite spacious as well. The water pressure was super strong, maybe a little too strong as I woke up the hubby from his nap when I took my shower. Oops. Small thing but I was appreciative that they have soap/shampoo pumps against the walls. Use what you need and don't need to kill the environment even more with those mini shampoo bottles that don't get you much anyway. Breakfast was just fine. Do-it-yourself waffle maker, bread, bagels, cereal, muffins, some fruit, coffee, tea, juice. Wasn't a hot breakfast but just good enough. Overall great experience for even the one night we stayed here. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

What a wonderful way to end up our honeymoon road trip. We were treated so well by the staff here, had an absolutely lovely riverview room with a balcony, and were able to really relax and enjoy ourselves. The bed was comfy, the room was immaculate, the continental breakfast was a bonus. In room Keurig is a nice touch too. The hotel is new-ish....in the last year or two I'm thinking? It is just lovely. We've stayed at places wayyyy more run down in Seaside that were almost the same price. We've also stayed in more expensive hotels there too, that were not updated and frankly not worth the price tag. This is just right and we look forward to future stays here! read more

I should probably give this two stars. I didn't because it was at least faultlessly clean, had some cool amenities (bikes, game room), and at least has a continental breakfast. Fair is fair. I guess. Problem #1: it's not a very good value for what you pay. What you get, basically, is in the Motel 6/Super 8 class, but you're definitely paying for more. At $130, this would be a good deal. Problem #2: the breakfast area. It is crowded and hard to get around, especially with whole families trying to get their kids fed; there is no way past. This is partly because the reception area actually looks out on the whole room (and takes up a chunk of it), thus making one feel watched by staff the entire time. Not that the entire time is very long, because there isn't much there. No egg/sausage/bacon type options; the only hot thing is the waffles. No danishes. Some cereals, a few yogurts, some fruit, mediocre coffee, bagels, etc. Would be what you'd expect from a Motel 6; for what these folks charge, you'd expect better. read more

This was my first visit to the area and I can fully recommend this hotel if you have kids. It's a short walk to the beach and every other thing that kids like to do. (Arcade, many ice cream shops, a rock store, "aquarium"... all that.) The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. There are other little perks too... fire pit in the back, an outdoor play set for small kids, an indoor pool. Breakfast isn't great.
