We spent a weekend here in March of 2022. Nice double room facing the ocean. Thought it might be noise being between the main road and the highway but road noise was no issue at all. Conveniently located at an entrance to 101 and across the street from a well-stocked grocery store. One interesting point - although the utensils weren't "high end", they had everything we'd need if we were cooking in.

    Spider in the room.

On March 18th I made reservations for the May 15th weekend. I requested a 2nd floor 2 bedroom suite. I've stayed at this hotel many times. In the 2 bedroom suites there is a fireplace and the living room is on the ocean side. On April 25th (5 weeks later) I received an e-mail telling me I couldnt have the second floor and they were sticking us on the 1st floor. I checked other hotels for openings, but there were none. They obviously waited over a month to do this because they knew we'd be stuck with a first floor "suite" or have to cancel the vacation. 1. There is no fireplace in the 1st floor suite. 2. The bedrooms are on the ocean side, not the living room. 3. The room is located directly behind the office, beside the laundry room and 4' from the ice machine that makes noise constantly. There's also a garbage can by the door. Oh but there's more! The kids got wet playing at the beach, sorry no guest laundry facilities, quote; "you can use the coin laundry in town". 4. Returning from our first outing to the beach the deadbolt would not unlock with the 1975 ancient key that was provided. 5. The manager tried, couldn't get it opened, she called maintenance and I kept fiddling with the DEADBOLT. I repeat, the deadbolt, not the door handle. 6. I got the deadbolt to disengage, we did our thing and left again. Came back, same deadbolt, it unlocked but was still sticky. 7. ... Wait for it. Child locked the DOOR HANDLE from the inside as we exited the room. Whoops, I don't have a key to the door handle so now we're locked outside again. 8. Here it comes... The manager/clerk says "no worries" it doesn't need a key, it unlocks by fingernail! She takes the wrong key and touches it to the door handle lock, not sticking it in as it's the wrong key, and turns it to unlock it. A fingernail is also efficient! 9. It ends up the maintenance person replaced the doorknob, not the deadbolt, and he replaced it with a cheap bathroom door doorknob. 10. There was a huge spider in the corner of the living room. 11. The kids couldn't sit on their balcony because it's only feet from the street. 12. The drapes couldn't be opened because every single person that walked by stared into the rooms. 13. The television in the boys bedroom didn't work. The sound is broken, it's crazy loud, then crazy soft. I'll stop at 13. It's a perfect number for this horrible hotel and the way we were plunked in this substandard back of the closet room for exactly the same price as the rooms upstairs. It was a horror show. I used to love this hotel, but I'll never be back and I suspect I'll get no resolution from management either. We were dumped in that little hell hole of a room. It was an awful experience, there's no way around it.

I was just driving down the coastline, saw beautiful sunset, and looked across the street, and saw the Wayside Inn .... Five stars for sure! From the check-in to departure everything was perfect for a one night stay! The room at a fireplace, views of the ocean and very inexpensive love this place would highly recommend! When, passing through again, I am staying here!

Cute little hotel to stay at when you're spending time at Cannon Beach! I found the hotel on Expedia, and ended up getting one of the suites for $140. A suite includes a mini kitchen, small dining table, living room with television and fireplace, bedroom with a television and fan, and bathroom. Our room also had a nice patio with two chairs looking out towards the beach. P.S. The sunsets from the rooms are AMAZING! We were lucky enough to be able to watch one from our room. Check-in was easy and when we arrive 2.5 hours early, they had a room ready for us. The office has small snacks and movies that you can rent for your room. Everything in our room was fine. Beds were comfy, suite was clean... I think the only warning I have is to watch out for their hot water. It gets HOT. And when I was showering the water randomly would get SUPER freakin' hot... I love my hot showers, but I am a fan of having skin. They also have a pool & hot tub for guests. We didn't go in the pool because screw that, but my boyfriend said it was heated (and it's indoors). The hot tub isn't suuuper hot like most hot tubs at hotels. It was like bath water but I think it's because it's practically outside? Regardless, it was nice and perfect temperature and made it so we didn't overheat too quick. Definitely recommend The Wayside to anybody looking for a room in Cannon Beach!

We found this Hotel by chance just driving by after having a bad experience at another Hotel. The location is great it's right across from the beach it has a market next door and a seafood restaurant across the street and a coffee shop not to far from the hotel. The rooms are big and clean and has a refrigerator and microwave. The staff is great and accommodating Andy was so nice and helpful at check in wish was appreciated after the experience at the other hotel. The first night we stayed in a king bed with a fireplace which a highly recommend. I would stay here again!

Nice roadside motel across from the ocean. Large rooms with balconies and small kitchen. Liked the gas fireplace. Nice indoor jacuzzi and pool. Overall a nice place for a night passing through cannon beach.

View from our room on the ground floor.

5 stars because it was incredibly clean and the staff was amazing. For the price we paid we expected much worse accommodations. Pet friendly. The pool and hot tub were nice. I am pretty sure all the rooms have an ocean view with a balcony or a patio that opens to the sea. We are literally right across the street from one of the most amazing Oregon beaches I have ever been to. Miles of clean soft sand and plenty of space to enjoy any activity. Everything in the room was modern and incredibly clean. Our room was small (we were told it was the smallest room onsite) but it had a kitchen and it was well worth the price. I am sure we will try and stay here again next time we come through!!!

Love this place!! It was our first time in the Oregon coast, we had no idea where to go and stay. Reading some reviews I was a little unsure about booking this hotel. I started calling around looking online this place was one of the more reasonable prices and also dog friendly. Once I booked it I was still looking for other options. Since it was a weekend most hotels wanted at least a two night stay, we only needed one night because we were headed south the next day. And the wayside inn allow for one night stay. So I kept the reservation and I'm glad I did. The hotel was nice, clean, newly renovated and doggy friendly! We were greeted by a really nice man in a cute reception area. We had a pretty decent size room with a balcony, fireplace, and all the things you would expect from a hotel. I was scared that the rooms would smell like dogs but it was very clean and no sign that dogs have been in the room. My dog had a welcome basket which was super cute, but where was my welcome basket? Lol The beds were very comfy, the only little thing I would maybe say was a negative was the bathroom was a little small but again we only stayed for less than 24 hours so didn't make much of a difference to me. Still love this place. The location it's more south from the main town, I thought this would bother me but actually it was a blessing, being away from then hassle and bustle of the town. It was about a five minute drive to town. The hotel is right across from Tolovana Park / Beach.. Which was perfect. There is a restaurant across the street right on the beach and a pub right beside if you don't want to go into town. We had a great visit in Cannon beach and stayin at Wayside inn made it even better, next time we will differently stay here.

    So pet friendly!

Our favourite dog friendly place to stay! So welcoming..clean..great views and wonderful staff!

Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. This meal came after a surprise engagement for my girlfriend so I had high hopes and they delivered. We were greeted with a lovely glass of champagne and also received some specialty bon bons to end the meal. Starting with the venue itself, the restaurant is situated on the second floor of the restaurant in a quaint dining room. I was honestly a little surprised as I had assumed the restaurant was bigger but none the less it was a nice space. There's a kitchen near the entrance which is cool to see. The service itself was fantastic. They were welcoming and kind and fast to address any question or request. I also noticed they did a great job pacing as there would be times where other tables finished courses before we did but they still waited on our conversation to then clear and serve us the following dish. Now to the food. It was so delicious. I'll be honest that when I saw the menu in comparison to the prior night I got a little worried as the first two dishes I saw, crab and a mushroom soup were not something I would typically order at a restaurant. That being said...they were both incredible. The flavors and care that went into each dish was incredible. Great restaurants make items you may not typically like taste fantastic and this is a testament to the chef. We were loving all parts of the meal and it was an amazing dinner and evening to share. The bread and butter by itself were so amazing. It was such a lovely evening and thank you for making it so special for us. Would definitely come back if you're celebrating a big milestone!

We booked our stay just a few days before our arrival and I was lucky enough to secure an oceanfront fire pit room (there are only 4 on the property). As I reviewed the many advertised amenities on the website, I started to anticipate a great stay. On our check-in day my husband and I arrived around 2pm and were immediately greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We decided to wait in the library/lobby area for our room to be ready. The library has incredible views of the ocean and Haystack Rock, comfortable seating and is located just off the lobby where there are refreshments (water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, freshly baked cookies, muffins and scones), as well as books, puzzles and games. When our room was ready we were given welcome drinks (sparkling wine with blueberry purée), helped with our bags and given a tour of the room and the grounds. It was during this tour that we realized that the property and room came with many more amenities than we anticipated! Such as: complimentary car wash, chocolate tasting, shuttle to/from downtown, in room snacks & beverages and a S'more's kit for our fire pit. The room and property provided everything we could want for a relaxing stay. During our two-night stay we enjoyed the cocktail hour which included drinks & appetizers, a good nightcap which included cocktails, nuts & chocolate covered cherries, breakfast in the dining room (buffet style with made to order items), a Ranger chocolate tasting with the chef, dinner in the dining room, listening to the ocean by our fire pit, watching the waves and the bunnies from our patio and yes, we also took advantage of the complimentary car wash (hand washed at that)! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, the grounds and room were well maintained and comfortable, the food & drinks were delicious and the amenities were thoughtfully curated and delivered. We wanted for nothing except to stay longer!

However, personally, I have not felt welcome here,…read moreand I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!
