Cute hotel. Check in is at the Gilbert Inn. We had room 12 which was second floor with a balcony and we loved it. View was great. Fireplace in room was nice. Kitchen was sufficient. Location was the best. Quick drive to Cannon Beach. Seaside is a great town and you can walk to everything from the hotel if you want. Parking was good if you have a small compact car. If you have a bigger car there is another area for parking. Room could have used some renovating. The tub is high and if you have knee problems or mobility issues you will struggle getting in and out of the shower. Overall for the price, we liked it a lot and would recommend. read more

I made a room suite reservation two months ago to celebrate our special occasion, based on reviews with ratings between 4 and 5 stars. The pictures were deceiving. We drove 8 hrs to our destination. We arrived at our room. Where do I start? This place was filthy and unhealthy for the family and 1 dog. There was dust, as well as dog or cat dander. All over the carpet and around the floor. Smelled terrible. The kitchenette was so nasty to use. The linen was stained and with hair. We always bring our linens. We bathed our dog the day before our trip to Oregon. It took me 1 hr to disinfect that room before fog and hubby could come in. I should not do that? We paid a lot of amount of money for this place. I called the front desk and spoke to Esteban and explained the situation. I was not pleased with the unclean room. I took paper towels to clean the porch table, seats. This place was one of the worst we had ever been to. My dog and I have terrible allergies. I coughed myself up ( asthma) and my dog sneezed all night and the next morning. We met another couple who said their dog was sneezing all the time there!!! The scary part was when my husband was bringing our stuff upstairs. He fell on those insecure steps. The stairs handle was loose. Not to code!!! We had not slept all that night. I looked for places to stay last-minute in Cannon Beach etc. I could not find anything due to the weekend!!! So we decided to check out. I requested a Refund. I spoke to Sofia. I explained the situation. She honored dome refund. I even contacted Carmen Suarez property manager via email. I never hear any response except from someone else. I was not pleased with their solution. I went to other venues to recover my whole amount. Success! But this was not the point. !! We needed this vacation after a hard summer!! Please be aware of this place!! Their website is described as wonderful! It's not!! Stars are for location only. Don't stay in room 7. You can't open your curtains because the public fire pit is right outside your window and people can sit there and stare right into your room. And people can hang out there all night and you hear them. There's no insulation so you hear everything upstairs, including them farting. They will inconvenience you and make you move your vehicle from their tiny parking lot because a Karen said that she couldn't get her car past to park, even though MULTIPLE CARS were able to come and go past you throughout the day. There's so many other options to stay at, choose one of those. This place isn't cheap either, so I would expect better. read more

Willing to update my review, if management responds. I have contacted the city, and they gave me a managers name. I called and was told a different name. When I called to talk to that person, the front desk said nobody by that name worked there. Still no response 2 days later. First of all, our toilet had no pressure. We got settled and left for the day. Husband used the restroom once and it plugged, and thought it was just a fluke. When we returned in the evening, we tried to flush with nothing in the toilet. It still did not work. My husband went to the office and the man at the desk was rude, condescending, and blamed us. He said maintenance was gone and we should have came there when it happened. The man said we would have to walk across the street to the Gilbert house. We tried flushing, but literally nothing would go down. The water just rose to the top, and slowly over 10 minutes would lower to its normal level. Secondly, we forgot something in the room, so when we went to the office to get the key from the Front desk, nobody was there and waited until 9:10. Same person arrived from the night before. When I mentioned the no pressure in the toilet, he just said ok. I did try to ask the maintenance person but he said he did not speak English. I tried to tell him in what Spanish I know, but as I did, the front desk person arrived. The room was perfect, other than the toilet. We heard a ton of noise, presumably from the attached unit (but only from the bathroom/bedroom area). read more

This was our first time staying here and we loved it so much that we will definitely book again next time we visit. We arrived a few hours early and asked if we were able to check-in early but we were not able to. So we went shopping around town to kill time and came back after 3 to see if it was ready, but it was not. So we went to a restaurant down the block to wait until 4. Our room was not ready until after 4:10pm but check-in was at 4... we love that it's right by the beach and that it comes with a kitchen, robes, fireplace, jetted tub and also a fire pit outside to enjoy. The lobby has s'mores kits you can purchase to roast by the fire as well. The only thing that wasn't so great about this place was that the walls are so thin and you can hear when the room/cottage next to you is showering. read more

It's our mini getaway and celebration for my husband and we are glad we stayed at Inn at the Prom! It's located in such premium location (waterfront) and we love sitting by the back porch having a cider and watched sunset above the water. Such a great way to wind down and easy walk along the beach, and very close to town and all the ice creams and great food! The check-in process was easy, fast and staff was lovely. We stayed at the Inn at the Prom for (2) nights after coming from a football game in Portland, Oregon. The only reason I am giving this business a "3" is based on the room, bed, and cleanliness. Great job Maid service. The bads: 1. Noisy room, heard people all night long walking above us. Walls are pretty darn thin, we could hear every time someone flushed a toilet or used their sinks. How obnoxious and as a result, we slept poorly. 2. Parking- if you park next to the bungalows, good luck in getting in and out... most ridiculous set up I've ever seen. How are you supposed to navigate your car in and out of that type of design? Horrible, there is not an exit except to back your car back down a narrow path between the cars and cottages. We ended up parking down the street. 3. Unless you want to pay top dollar and get a room in the very front of the Inn facing the Promenade, good luck. We got stuck in "the slums" and we won't be back! The goods: 1. Great maid service and the gals working were super nice. 2. Bed very very comfortable, clean, and cozy. 3. First time staying at the Prom. Excellent Location at Seaside - Request rooms 16 or 12 - top floor ocean front - these rooms face the beach and the view can't be beat. We were able to check in an hour early - which was great since we had a dog - they are pet friendly with a reasonable per night pet fee. Room 16 was very clean and comfortable for 2 people - wouldn't try to fit in more people as it's just the right size for 2. Kitchenette was equipped with basic necessities. The staff was very friendly. There is also a garden/lawn area with chairs - very nice! Parking is onsite - but very very tight - helps if you are driving a smaller car. The Inn is just feet away from all the shops and restaurants at Seaside - you will not need to drive anywhere - everything is right there. The ONLY suggestion - they need to keep a toilet plunger in the bathroom for those unexpected times. We will definitely stay there again next year. Thank you ! So after carefully choosing, what we thought would be fun destination (with friends), making the booking, and receiving confirmation, we then got a call to saying our room had been triple booked, "you know how reservation systems can go weird". Not our problem!!!!!! And when asked if they could make it right, the next comment was "the owner would NEVER let our best room go for the regular price!" What a lovely find! Sort of booked it on a whim, but it was a really good fit. Our room was totally accessible for my wife's mobility scooter, which was a big plus. Really large room. The ocean view (and beach!) was only a few feet down the ramp, and all the good restaurants are only a short distance away. (Mo's is about a block.) There was a lovely fireplace in our space! And the bathroom whirlpool bathtub was great. There's even an outdoor firepit! The one drawback would be that while we didn't get much noise from the neighbors on our floor (good walls) we did get a LOT of footstep noise from above. It would help if they wouldn't rent to elephant families.... so yeah, if that's a big thing for you... read more

Let's just get straight to point and say the 2 stars is for the location and view ONLY. Front desk- they definitely need to put someone who knows what they're doing and how to treat customers because this little girl did not know what she was talking about when I was asking about our rooms and questions since it was our first time here and just figuring out where to check in was a mess. The room- definitely not a 5 star... but probably not even a 2 star. The privacy screen has holes in them and didn't even close all the way and on top of that the "beautiful" white/clear curtains were stained with reddish spots that were gross to even look at. Door also didn't lock properly so we always had to double check every time we needed to leave our room. Parking- no actual clear parking area except the slanted 6 mini car entrance/exit next to the rooms where you feel like you're either going to run into someone's balcony or slam your side mirror into someone's car on your way out even if you have a Mini Cooper. All in all, we probably won't be staying here again. For almost $400 we got horrible front desk, bad parking, and had to kill about 5 daddy long legs due to the privacy screens not closing. I will say the view was stunning and the location was nice but there are PLENTY of other options in the area. read more

Super cute. Super tiny!! I stayed here because of the kitchen, the balcony/ocean views and also it was pet friendly! They are more strict pet friendly hotel. But wanted that view!!! Easily walkable! Love the views. Just wish it wasn't so small. For $299 a night, it was way too small!! We had a jetted tub in the room but we didn't use it. I did enjoy the balcony view though. Close-ish to all. Prices are so different through the season but for most part, it's always been around $250-$300 a night for the ocean front room. I've had way better rooms at that prices in bigger cities!! But they are not in seaside. You pay for the location for sure. The beautiful seaside! The beach! The busy promenade! And all those taffy! Worth a visit! read more

Esteban is the bomb! There was an issue with our room key and it was already 6 p.m. and he was scheduled to leave at 7 p.m. He called a locksmith to come and d fix the problem. This is a really quaint place and located near everything, including the beach. Good price, great staff and very comfortable. A great spot on the beach practically on the turnaround. The grounds are kept up very pristine, a perfect place sit out front and people watch, enjoy the sun and sunset. The unit itself was a little outdated and could use minor repair/upgrade, but you're on THE BEACH! The location is walking distance to just about anywhere in town. Love the location balcony overlooking boardwalk and beach. I witnessed some of the most spectacular sunsets sitting on the balcony with a book, wine and cheese. I'll be back for sure! read more

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was better than I expected with great amenities and spacious. The beach was literally right outside the Inn, which was so nice to have. The main office for check in was confusing to find as it is under a different name and across the street from the sign that says "Inn At the Prom". Check in was frustrating as we were on time but our room was not ready for another 30-40 minutes. The front desk employee was also not too helpful or that pleasant to engage with but maybe it was just the day we got them on. A true gem on the promenade! This is a small inn nestled among the larger hotels. Our king spa suite was literally steps from the beach and even on the first floor had an amazing view of the ocean unobstructed by the berm. The soaking tub was huge, the suite was super clean, and I can't think of anything I'd improve. And, it's a 1 minute walk from all the shops and restaurants in Seaside... so much fun! We loved our stay here. Even though it was a pretty rainy weekend, the room was so cozy and right on the water. We loved the fireplace in the room. There were some pretty noisy neighbors and it was confusing that check-in is at the hotel across the street. Parking is also a little tricky as the lot is very small and tight. We did have to wait about 1.5 hours for our room to be ready after we checked in, but I think that was because of short staff. I added the birthday package to our room for my husband which was supposed to include a birthday banner on the door but did not. They ended up taking a few bucks off and said they haven't done any birthday packages in a long time. Oh well. We loved the walkability to town and the short drive to Cannon Beach. I've stayed here twice and both times have been miserable. First stay after driving 4 hours didn't have cable, they of course never said anything to me prior and upon asking they said the cable guy couldn't come out till Monday, the day we would be leaving. Awesome. The second stay was exactly the same story- No internet, they couldn't get out till the day we'd be leaving. So they were nice enough to move us to another room. We pack all of our stuff up and get to new room and ..... yup, no internet! Mind you the general manager who we've never seen, hides behind a phone is rude and says "I can take $30 dollars off that's all I can do" I just want out at this point but we stick it out. We go back to our room and realize THERES NO HOT WATER. I go back to the office for the fourth time and she says "the repairman came out a few days ago when the hot water heater broke and is coming back to fix it, not sure when though." SO THEY ALREADY KNEW THERE WAS NO HOT WATER! Now at this point my gf is with me and we have the manager on speakerphone and she hears my gf say "we haven't had hot water both days we've been here" and totally changes her tone and offers us a refund plus $50. I HAVENT RECIEVED ANY REFUND AND ITS BEEN 4 DAYS. Gutters are literally falling off building and the steps were so icy we barely could get up to our room. Do NOT stay here ESPECIALLY if you book through BOOKING.COM. The manager will tell you they can't do anything and clearly they can. Horrible stay that ruined our entire weekend. read more

I have never made a Yelp review but my experience today has driven me to this. I had a lovely stay at the hotel two weeks ago. Because of this I booked a room for my older father and his girl friend. They've had a very stressful time as of late and needed a get away. I called twice before to confirm the reservation was a ground floor room. They arrived today to find out the room had been changed and they didn't have a similar room available. They were offered a second floor room or a room with no view. They paid for a ocean front room. Some stress free get away! The manager was unapologetic and rude. Offered a 10% discount for a terrible room. I had plans to visit next month. No longer. read more

This review is for both Inn At The Prom and Gilbert Inn since both are owned by the same business. I booked my stay at the Gilbert Inn through Booking.com and was overcharged for it. I called the inn twice and both times I was told that my issue would be forwarded to management. Waited over a week and never heard back from anyone. Messaged the inn on Booking.com, then filed an issue with customer service - still no response. I was only able to get this billing issue resolved through my credit card company. The day after the credit card dispute was resolved, my card was charged again by the inn (not just a pending or authorization charge, but a posted one). This occurred almost 3 weeks after my stay, so at this point there should be zero reason for my card to be charged. Stay away from this business - all this headache over a $13 overcharge that they could have easily resolved on their end. Now they have my credit card information and are still charging it for no reason. I'll be reporting this fraudulent activity to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I used my drive back home to think carefully about if I wanted to write a review or not because I was unsure if I wanted to put this out there for the world to see. I'm hoping the owners will take this as feedback and work on improving things. This was my family's first trip out for an overnight since our child was born nearly two years ago. We waited until both myself and my spouse were fully vaccinated to come travel. Our child did GREAT with everything, slept well, ate well, played well and was very happy (it's not hard to please a toddler though haha). I think this place would be great for a couple of twenty-somethings looking for a place near the beach but not as expensive as some of the nearby hotels. I wouldn't recommend this as a place to take your family with little ones, though. I felt a tad deceived by the photos (I booked through Airbnb) because when I got into our unit (P2) it hadn't been cleaned and reeked of cigarettes and a smell of perfume/some fragrance I think meant to mask the cigarette smell. There was a plastic cup on the front porch of our unit with cigarette butts in it, despite there being a large "no smoking" sign on our door. I kept the windows open for several hours to air it out. I'm also glad I brought Clorox wipes because there was a sticky residue (looked like soda or something like a syrup) on the coffee table and on the dining table, as well as food crumbs. The bar that held up the shower curtain was very visibly rusty. The bathtub had hair in it, which I wiped out, too. The bed wasn't comfortable nor were the pillows - I understand that this place wasn't a 5 star resort though, so to be fair it's not going to be expected that most places one stays at are going to have swanky fancy beds. I'm fine with that. I will say that the walls seemed paper thin and as I'm sure our neighbors probably could hear our toddler making toddler noises, we equally could hear their coital moans of passion and squeaky mattress for a solid 20 mins, as well as the hour long bath they took together on our shared wall where my spouse, toddler and I were trying to not pay attention to what was happening . It's a hotel though, and that's on us for getting a place with a shared wall when we were doing a family trip. Next time I I'll get a vacation house and we won't be in that sort of listening situation again, haha. Overall, I think that there could have been more attention to the cleanliness of the unit as well as the smell. Just work on being more thorough, if you can. I left a tip because I know it's a tough job cleaning rooms and the folks doing that have bills to pay. I won't be coming back, but again, this is a place I'd recommend for the twenty-something age group and not to those traveling with a family. read more

I don't often feel compelled to leave a review, but in this case I just had to. I've stayed in dozens of hotels in Seaside over the years, and this is my first (and most certainly my last) time at the "Inn at the Prom". My biggest issue with this place is that there are no curtains on the windows, just blinds. Now maybe if you're in the right room facing away from the street, that's fine. In out case, they put is in room P-6. That room overlooks all the other rooms without the ocean views and the street. The problem with this is that the room is lit up like a lighthouse at night (no joke) due to all the lights on the doors and porches of the other hotel rooms that apparently do not go off at night. The light was so blinding that both of our children could barely sleep through it and took forever to fall asleep. At sunrise, the room is lit up even more, to the point where you're forced to wake-up, even if you don't want to. I'm honestly not exaggerating one bit either. The amount of light in that room at daytime and all through the night is absolutely absurd. All it would take is some blackout blinds to cure this, but apparently the hotel staff doesn't think this is necessary. My other issue is that a number of the people staying below us were smoking pot and cigarettes. I have no issue with this except that the rules say it can't be done within 10 feet of the property. However, these people were doing it right on their porches, which was then coming through our window. I wouldn't be so hostile about this if we didn't have kids. I thought about confronting the people about this, but I didn't want to be "that guy", so I figured I'd just ignore it and hope they stopped (which they didn't, as it happened the entire stay). For the price this place is charging, I'm sorely disappointed. Next time we'll stay in one of the chain hotels, where at least you can count on consistency. read more

I have stayed at the Inn several times before but after this stay I will never stay there again. Here is why. Upon checking in we were told they were waiting for towels to put in our room and they would call us when it was done. 45 min later and no call, I went back and the room was ready, desk manager forgot to call. When entering the room we saw that there was no smoke detector on the wall. It was still in a package on the table. There were dirty dishes in the sink and there was no towel left for drying our dishes. Crumbs were on the floor and dog hair was everywhere! The sliding glass door was not cleaned from the last guest who had the dogs. There was human hair in the bathtub and the shelving on the bathroom was unsafe to use. The bed was poorly made and the fireplace didn't work. We were given a weak apology and a10% refund. The only thing we liked about the room was the view. I'm sad to see how the Inn is being maintained now. read more

This was the second time I've stayed at Inn at the Prom and each time we had an amazing experience. Part of that was due to the hotel and the rest due to the weather. On this last trip, we were at the beach during a large snow storm and it was amazing to watch the snow hit the sand in one of the ocean view rooms. There are a nice selection of free dvd's that you can watch, fresh fruit and other amenities in the reception area and some sort of kitchen/cooking device in every room. read more

We were in an ocean view room, and loved it for the most part. It's a fantastic view, and the location cannot be beat. The rooms were clean and had good amenities. The patios were a lovely touch that made it wonderful to sit and watch the sunset. The reasons I do not give this place 5 stars is because there isn't any air conditioning, the walls are very thin, and the curtains don't block out the light in the mornings. We could hear the people talking in the rooms on either side of us, and could hear the people walking around above us. The curtains don't cover the entire door, so light come blaring in at 6 in the morning in the summer making it difficult to sleep in. read more

This time they seem to have really neglected the exterior & service really seemed to be lacking. Room was never cleaned. Had to request clean towels & also had to call to have them empty the garbage. We were looking for a quick weekend getaway from the city when I came across this inn on hotels.com. We were really looking forward to some time away and were not disappointed! The staff was friendly and discrete. Our room was gorgeous! The view was spectacular. Had to keep reminding ourselves it wasn't a screensaver. The inn Is located directly on the beach and the promenade is right outside the patio. You are less than 1/2 mile from Broadway, the main drag. It's full of adorable little shops and restaurants and bars. I recommend hitting happy hours. The lizard lounge has $1 beers! There was a fireplace in our oceanfront room which was awesome! We were able to keep the sliding door open and enjoy the sounds of the water but stay warm at the same time. The weather was a bit dreary but that's the coast this time of year for ya. There was also a huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that was so relaxing to enjoy. Especially with some bath salts from seaside salts on Broadway. We loved our trip and will absolutely be back with our friends this summer!!! read more

Host was promt to reply and confirm reservation and clear instructions in reservation were left of where to check in and get keys .Plently of parking dedicated to overnight quest right by the inn . Within 2 minutes walk you were on the beach and 3 minutes additionally you were on the main strip with restaurants and shops . We got a surprise at check in and was told our room were in one of the bungalows . Pleasantly surprised by a decent kitchen with dishes and full oven to use . The property was a little more dated then expected and the bedroom was kinda an Awkward shape with no night stands nor plug ins in by the bed and what looked like more of a full bed then queen but we made due . You could hear the next bungalow overs quest but nothing too obnoxious . The bathroom had a giant jetted tub that two people could fit and was nice way to warm up and relax after full day out and about . Absolutely loved it! Took advantage of a Groupon for a two night stay at the Inn at the Prom. We had a cozy 1 bd. cabin with a fireplace, and kitchen....perfect. Cozy, Comfortable, and Quiet. We will be coming back. read more

I've wanted to stay here for years. It's always been out of our price range. My husband sudenly had a monday off and we actually found them on groupon. We got an oceanfront room for $90. We drove there and checked in only to find out we did not have an oceanfront room. Even though my confirmation said oceanfront they said there was a mistake somewhere and that is not what I received. They were completely booked so we couldn't get anything else. I was very upset and the front desk person didn't seem to care. I wanted to leave and go home. My husband said we should just make the best of it. We checked in and went to our room. Our room was on the second story right next to the outside stairs to the second floor. Everyone walking up the stairs looks right into your room. We immediately closed all the curtains. The view from the other windows was the roof and parking lot. We looked in the bathroom and the two person jacuzzi is NOT for two people. It's for one person only. After this further disappointment my husband opened the bottle of wine we brought only to find out that we had one wine glass that was useable. The other glass was shattered. There was no phone to call to the front desk. My husband walked down the stairs and across the street to get a wine glass. While we were having our wine we noticed how loud the room was. You heard people stomping up the stairs. When any of the doors from the other rooms or the hallway exterior door shut it shook our entire room. You could hear people talking from in there rooms. We actually thought it was from the hallway so we opened the door and there was no one there. You could hear people's toliets flush and there showers turn on. We kept hearing this loud beeping and couldn't figure out what is was from. We left for dinner and while walking we figured out it was the parking garage gate from across the street. We came back from dinner only to have another drunk guest try to bang down our door. He kept saying let me in. My husband opened the door and told him this wasn't his room and he stumbled away. We stuck something up against the door and went to bed. It was very hard to get to sleep with all of the noise. We even heard our neighbor snoring. We finally fell asleep around 2am when our neighbors settled down. We wokeup early the next morning and checked out. It's pretty safe to say we will not be back.
