We had the Ocean view suite and the view was stunning! The owner was personable and we were able to check in early! Clean rooms, spacious and comfortable!

My wife and I honeymooned here for 7 days this august, all in the king La Colina suite. I travel nonstop for work and I can say this was one of the best hotel experiences ever. The service was just right, they strategically bring fresh towels and do housekeeping around your schedule. The fireplace and kitchenette were perfect. The location couldn't be better. It was the perfect place to kick off our marriage!

This is our go-to spot to stay in Cannon Beach! They have several buildings so lots of different sizes and views to choose from when it comes to rooms. We prefer to get a room with a view of the ocean and most of them have balconies. We have visited Waves many times and have an excellent experience every time, even with COVID 19 restrictions. The rooms are consistently clean, some have fireplace and jacuzzi tubs, there are smaller rooms perfect for a couple or larger cabins that would accommodate a group. The location is within walking distance of downtown Cannon Beach and you can walk along the street or the beach to get there. It is a hike to get to Cannon Beach but the views are gorgeous even if you don't walk all the way down there. This area of the coast also has a small river right in front of the ocean that changes with the tides. Some people don't like this but I think it adds a unique element.

9 pm. Very light in the room. Perhaps some darkening shades?

The price per night was $330. Quite expensive, but of course we understand it's because of the location. The 2 things good about this room was the comfortable bed and the very close proximity to the beach and the town. With that said, I took a few pics where improvement is definitely necessary. First pic shows 2 things - it was taken at around 9:00 pm. As you can see, the room has no darkening shades so it's never really very dark. Also - yuck - the table is full of watermarks, scratches, etc. looks terrible and we put nothing on it except for the little fan (no AC) they provided. Third pic is a view from the bed. Perhaps the picture can be replaced with a large big screen tv. The one provided was so small and in a weird place. Another pic shows the closet. Five hangers for 2 people? C'mon. Also, very awkward to get to your clothes. As you can see in the second pic, there is a huge space on the right where shelves could be installed. We had to store a lot of our clothes in our suitcase. The side tables were very small. Shelves would solve this problem. Finally, the bathroom. Again, as you can see, plenty of room to have a couple of shelves. Instead, we had to delicately balance our bathroom supplies along the sink and on the toilet tank. Ridiculous. Other complaints - we went grocery shopping and put our food in the fridge. Guess what? It wasn't even turned on, so our food was ruined. There's no full length mirror - plenty of room for one. Nor is there a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Only enough coffee and sugar for one day? You should at least have a few days' worth. Windows don't open and there's no screen on the back door, leading to the ocean so too bad if you want any cool ocean breeze heading into your room on these warm days. Don't waste your money!!

    Tired, dirty sofa.

Good location, great view, and a clean bathroom. That's where the good stuff ends. We paid $370 a night for this room (over $2,000 for five nights). The carpets are absolutely filthy (see photos) and there was a two foot hole/rip in the living room carpet, the couch was grossly dirty and broken down, and the whole place felt tired and grungy. The trim is beat up, the dining table had big scratches and large pieces of missing "wood" from the top.The deck area is missing a lot of shingles and looks a bit trashy. I had to scrub what looked like melted ice cream off the countertop when we arrived. Granted, hardly any of the motels or hotels in this area have air-conditioning, but this place is stifling hot. When we walked in our unit after check-in the thermostat read 87°. Everything was closed up tight when we arrived. I found one dirty box fan in a closet. Called down to the office to ask for another and was told that was all they had. She suggested leaving the front door of the shared unit open to get a cross breeze. It was 8 o'clock at night. Of course we couldn't leave the front door to the unit all night, and we had to close two of the three windows in the main part of the room because they had no screens (not uncommon in this area) and someone could have easily just crawled in the window next to my sleeping son. At 10:30 pm we couldn't stand the stifling heat (still 84 in the room), and I had to go buy two more fans 30 minutes away at W*lm*rt. I guess we will be gifting this place two $30 fans, because we can't take them home. Today it is supposed to be even hotter, and I do understand weather is out of their control, but it's been extremely hot in Cannon Beach the last two summers - it's not like it's a surprise to them. I would not recommend this place until they replace carpets and do some renovations. They also need to do something to compensate for the lack of airflow in the units. I've stayed weeks at a time in Cannon Beach and have never paid so much to stay in a run down property. I have no problem paying $2-3,000 for five nights as long as the place is clean and comfortable. This isn't that.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend away while staying at The Waves in Cannon Beach. Our room (La Colina King) was just perfect! Had an amazing view of the ocean and we loved laying in bed, looking out the window and enjoying the sounds of waves and seagulls in the distance. The fireplace is a nice touch as well. The room had a nice built-in booth by the windows, perfect for a sunset dinner. We enjoyed use of the stovetop and refrigerator in the room. Makes it easy to make meals and not have to go out if you don't want to, especially with Covid-19. The location can't be beat and is right around the corner from all the shops and restaurants in downtown Cannon Beach. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were sooooo soft! I want some for myself at home!! We have found our new place to escape to! We will definitely be back!! Only suggestion for improvement - better patio furniture.

A light drizzle and windy but the view....

Great location. Beautiful view. Friendly, helpful staff. It was an amazing, unforgettable experience waking up to the breathtaking view every morning and walking along the beach. We spent a couple of nights here during my second trimester and it was very relaxing. The sunset was surreal, felt like I was in Lord of the Rings or something. I would love to return with my son one day and get some pictures of him by the Haystack rock. We stayed in the room with the kitchenette and fire place. It came fully stocked but some items need to be upgraded. Knife was quite dull, couldn't really make good use out of it.

Great place right on the beach. The views! So nice cuz with a full kitchen you could really nest if the weather is blustery. Thanksgiving at the beach! Gas fireplace, windows all around, comfy furniture, we had two bedrooms and two baths (plus a Murphy bed). No two rooms are identical. Lots of privacy with the way they angle the windows and the outdoor space. Located right in town, so there are tons of places to go and things to do without driving. Definitely a keeper.

    Such an amazing experience

The Waves Cannon Beach is hands down one of the most charming cottage-style motels I've ever stayed in. The Waves is conveniently located to numerous restaurants and a couple of bars and most importantly the beach. The motel is roughly a mile from Haystock Rock, which is simply magnificent in itself. We had the pleasure of staying on a third-floor beach facing queen which I highly recommend. The room came with a small kitchenette, quaint bathroom, comfortable bed, balcony and a fireplace. Enjoying the view on the balcony in the morning was my favorite part. Parking was easy, check in was great and it was an overall great experience. We will definitely stay here again!

Absolutely amazing service! Had planned a surprise for my boyfriend and they definitely delivered! We got the flagship king studio I believe and it was beautiful! Beautiful view, fireplace and porch to see the ocean and about a 10 mins walk to haystack rock if that. Definitely coming back!

    The actual bed.

This place is NOT what it looks like online. The room was dirty, there was a simple push in lock on the door with no latch while vagrants were actively trying to get into the hotel. The hotel staff refused to give me my money back after I realized the hotel was NOTHING like what I thought I booked. Also, the room I had was over a garage and my "garden view" was of a driveway. The hotel needs updating desperately. I wouldn't pay more than 80$ for the room I got.

Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. This meal came after a surprise engagement for my girlfriend so I had high hopes and they delivered. We were greeted with a lovely glass of champagne and also received some specialty bon bons to end the meal. Starting with the venue itself, the restaurant is situated on the second floor of the restaurant in a quaint dining room. I was honestly a little surprised as I had assumed the restaurant was bigger but none the less it was a nice space. There's a kitchen near the entrance which is cool to see. The service itself was fantastic. They were welcoming and kind and fast to address any question or request. I also noticed they did a great job pacing as there would be times where other tables finished courses before we did but they still waited on our conversation to then clear and serve us the following dish. Now to the food. It was so delicious. I'll be honest that when I saw the menu in comparison to the prior night I got a little worried as the first two dishes I saw, crab and a mushroom soup were not something I would typically order at a restaurant. That being said...they were both incredible. The flavors and care that went into each dish was incredible. Great restaurants make items you may not typically like taste fantastic and this is a testament to the chef. We were loving all parts of the meal and it was an amazing dinner and evening to share. The bread and butter by itself were so amazing. It was such a lovely evening and thank you for making it so special for us. Would definitely come back if you're celebrating a big milestone!

We booked our stay just a few days before our arrival and I was lucky enough to secure an oceanfront fire pit room (there are only 4 on the property). As I reviewed the many advertised amenities on the website, I started to anticipate a great stay. On our check-in day my husband and I arrived around 2pm and were immediately greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We decided to wait in the library/lobby area for our room to be ready. The library has incredible views of the ocean and Haystack Rock, comfortable seating and is located just off the lobby where there are refreshments (water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, freshly baked cookies, muffins and scones), as well as books, puzzles and games. When our room was ready we were given welcome drinks (sparkling wine with blueberry purée), helped with our bags and given a tour of the room and the grounds. It was during this tour that we realized that the property and room came with many more amenities than we anticipated! Such as: complimentary car wash, chocolate tasting, shuttle to/from downtown, in room snacks & beverages and a S'more's kit for our fire pit. The room and property provided everything we could want for a relaxing stay. During our two-night stay we enjoyed the cocktail hour which included drinks & appetizers, a good nightcap which included cocktails, nuts & chocolate covered cherries, breakfast in the dining room (buffet style with made to order items), a Ranger chocolate tasting with the chef, dinner in the dining room, listening to the ocean by our fire pit, watching the waves and the bunnies from our patio and yes, we also took advantage of the complimentary car wash (hand washed at that)! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, the grounds and room were well maintained and comfortable, the food & drinks were delicious and the amenities were thoughtfully curated and delivered. We wanted for nothing except to stay longer!

However, personally, I have not felt welcome here,…read moreand I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!
