Dirty towel when entered room for first time
    jim c.

Don't understand the rating. Room was clean and bed was good. Had a nice TV but no programming( local, ESPN etc channels). The bad received nothing for tor 400 dollars. Nite with pet fee. $2 dollars drink one of water bottles in fridge. Went to check in 30 mins early and was told I was at other site so went to other site and sign when saw says check in at site 1 so walk to other site to check in again. Got back and opened the door and a moth was flying around a dirty towel was on nite stand. No creamer in room. No air conditioning or fan. Room 18 is next to the water fountain that makes it like raining and a light that shines right in your eyes, no shade. Raccoons on trash at night, scary for puppy walk for night pee. I would give 2 stars but she gave 3/4 stars. She says better than Shilo in Seaside due to cleanliness, which they leave a note to tip cleaners.

Worst Christmas Experience ever... Booked a room at just before 2 pm on Christmas day.. Drove through bad weather to get there.. Multiple confirmations from Hotel along with emails from them to see if we needed to make it a Special occasion, just give a call we'll hook you up.. Arrived at hotel, office is closed but there is a note on the door, lock box to your left, key inside opens mailbox below, find envelope with your name on it!!! Yay! So simple.... Except... No envelope, i went through them twice to see if I missed it. The phone number on the sheet for any issues..I called she answered surrounded by screaming children , I explain the situation, she says that I "booked" the room too late so there is no key... What the fudge?!! I have a confirmation and my card is charged and i am here in the rain before 4 pm check in time. She stated she'll just refund my card... Am i living in a parallel universe right now!?!?... NO, i want the hotel I paid for and drove to. Her response is that she lives 2 hours away (Portland/Cedar Hills) and it will take her more than that to bring keys...i am livid and tired...it is Christmas day, nothing is open, i need a bathroom, i want my hotel room, and now i have to find another hotel. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A HOTEL AND I GO TO QUITE A LOT OF HOTELS DURING THE YEAR-ALL OVER! I told her I would call my bank about the charge on my card for services that were promised, confirmed but not even attempted to be provided. Waiting 2 hours is not acceptable if check in is at 4pm. I also told her that since the booking was done early afternoon she should have checked them and called me to tell me about the hotels "late booking-no keys" policy that is not written any where. .. Side note, booked another hotel, called them to avoid another Christmas day fiasco, within 6 minutes of booking, she received an alert that let her know about my booking, amazing what technology can do for you. You might choose that as a career and get out of hotels. Inn at Haystack Rock... You suck.

Recently stayed here with my daughter. Hard to beat the price for this location! One block away from the beach (no ocean views but for 99$ that's as close as you'll get) room was cute and decently sized for two. Front staff was polite upon arrival. Only downfall was they were doing Reno's in the suite next to me - typically I wouldn't mind a bit of noise but I have a three month old and it was hard for her to nap :( oh well hopefully next time a little quieter!

The place is awesome and cozy all at the same time. Sleepy monk coffee for breakfast, and the bed and sofa were great very comfy. Loved the jacuzzi tub bug enough for two.. Let down was the maids didn't do the dishes while we were gone.. :(

My girlfriend and I recentely took a trip up the Oregon coast from southern California. On our second day we made our way to Cannon Beach and booked a room at the Blue Gull Inn which we could not have been happier with. Our tiny cottage was very reasonably priced and had a back door that was maybe a hundred yards to the beach. We were so pleased with the amazing little town and our stay that we decided to book another night. We had to change rooms on our additional night due to booking the next day but upgraded to a bigger 1 bedroom cottage with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub for only a little extra. All in all we had a great time here and are already planning on coming back. Can't beat the hospitality and amazing scenery. This is one place you must experience at least once. Thanks for showing us a great time Blue Gull Inn!

Very nice place to stay while visiting the Cannon Beach area. The rooms are cozy as well as very clean. Each room is like having your own private little cottage. Our room came with a nice fireplace that came in very handy when the power went out in our room one of the evenings due to 70 mph winds. To our surprise the electric fireplace still operates without a flaw. We were very well taken care of while staying at the Blue Gull Inn. The front office also provides a large selection of movies for those very Stormy beach nights (Yes they even have The Goonies partially filmed in Cannon Beach). You are also only one block from the beach, and a short walk to downtown as well as haystack rock. Overall a great place to spend a few nights while exploring the Northern Oregon Coast.

On the main drag of S Hemlock, a short walk to a grocery store, Tolovana State Recreation Area, and the beach, as well as a few restaurants. The compound is a series of buildings with rooms that you enter from the outside. We were upstairs with our balcony overlooking the garden, which was nice. The day we checked in, the woman at the front desk was helpful, but for me, with a hearing deficit, she talked fast and I relied on my wife to interpret for me. No big deal, though. They offer cookies individually wrapped, which is a nice touch. In the lobby are tea and coffee. Our room had double queen beds, was clean, and had all the amenities: mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Strangely, we found that our heater was on, and we had to investigate how to turn it off. There is no A/C, at least not that we saw. However, it does not seem to get hot there, so with the window open, not an issue. The bathroom had a small tub/shower but nice fan and great water pressure. The TV worked fine. The first morning, we checked out the complimentary breakfast. You have to walk across Surfcrest St into another compound called Lodges at Cannon Beach and back in the corner is the breakfast room (there is a sign that leads the way). However, we were not impressed. Except for the sausage, biscuits, muffins, and juice, we were not impressed. There were no scrambled eggs that morning, just hard boiled. I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy. They don't have a waffle maker, so the waffles had been sitting out and, for us, not edible. Ultimately, we skipped the breakfast the next two mornings. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning and tidying up our room each day. We appreciated that. Besides the unimpressive breakfast, I only had one other issue. About dusk the frogs start up in the pond at the center of the garden area where most rooms overlook. They are continuous and loud, so that we had to close the window to be able to sleep. There is a fan in the room, but we like fresh air and were unable to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy with the Inn At Cannon Beach.

Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. Appreciate the thoughtful staff very much.

This meal came after a surprise engagement for my girlfriend so I had high hopes and they delivered. We were greeted with a lovely glass of champagne and also received some specialty bon bons to end the meal. Starting with the venue itself, the restaurant is situated on the second floor of the restaurant in a quaint dining room. I was honestly a little surprised as I had assumed the restaurant was bigger but none the less it was a nice space. There's a kitchen near the entrance which is cool to see. The service itself was fantastic. They were welcoming and kind and fast to address any question or request. I also noticed they did a great job pacing as there would be times where other tables finished courses before we did but they still waited on our conversation to then clear and serve us the following dish. Now to the food. It was so delicious. I'll be honest that when I saw the menu in comparison to the prior night I got a little worried as the first two dishes I saw, crab and a mushroom soup were not something I would typically order at a restaurant. That being said...they were both incredible. The flavors and care that went into each dish was incredible. Great restaurants make items you may not typically like taste fantastic and this is a testament to the chef. We were loving all parts of the meal and it was an amazing dinner and evening to share. The bread and butter by itself were so amazing. It was such a lovely evening and thank you for making it so special for us. Would definitely come back if you're celebrating a big milestone!

After receiving some difficult news we thought we would go to our happy place at Cannon Beach. With a last min booking - room options were limited. Once we arrived, I asked about the possibility of a different room, only to find out they were fully booked. The next day, I went to the front desk to inquire of another room option for us with an ocean view! They had one! The gentleman at the front desk even helped me change rooms by hauling our belongings up the steps to the second floor. I do appreciated their help and accommodations. We had a wonderful stay - so did Duke and Tino, as it was their first time at the beach! The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond!

However, personally, I have not felt welcome here,…read moreand I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!
