I stayed at this place and honestly the view was amazing. Our room was facing the pier and the ocean, and waking up to the sound of seagulls in the morning was really nice. The only downside, and honestly the most important one, was the cleanliness. It didn't feel properly cleaned. For example, I found hair in the bathroom, even men's hair, which made me uncomfortable and a bit doubtful about how well everything else was cleaned. It's a shame because everything else was good the location, the view, and even the breakfast (which was included and decent). But cleanliness is really important, and that part definitely needs improvement.

Rooms are tired and worn out. And even though they had a room available for us when we got here, there was a $25 charge for early check in. No thanks. The walls are so thin I heard every conversation from our neighbors. And heard every footstep over our head. With all that said, the view was great. But this was not a $300 room experience. We will not be back.

I had a very nice stay over New Years. The room was big and very nice. The views of the bridge and harbor were amazing. The area was very quiet. The staff was friendly and very nice I would stay there again. I missed breakfast, because I overslept.

This hotel is right on the water along the Southend of the riverwalk. It looks like it's been around for a long time as both the exterior and interior look dated and weathered. The room I stayed in had two twins. The carpet looked old and worn and the bathroom showed signs of some water damage or mildew. The view of the harbor and bridge were beautiful and it was definitely nice to have a balcony to use. The hotel had plenty of parking available and a complimentary breakfast. The location was pretty good as it was within walking distance to the riverwalk and some restaurants. If I return to Astoria I'd probably stay somewhere northeast/east along the riverwalk, but this hotel is a decent stay if you can get a good nightly rate.

View was beautiful, and this was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. However, the bathroom and room weren't the cleanest.

Definitely not the greatest place. It's inexpensive for a reason. Old and not updated. I would not stay here again.

Our room was huge and was temperature controlled, we had a really big bathtub to soak in. We didn't even leave the hotel for dinner. We just ate at the bar! Rachel at the bar was just fantastic! The manager, Jasmine was also very kind and attentive. Milk and cookies at 7pm was such a nice little touch to seal the deal. Attention to detail at this place was impeccable. They've put so much thought into something as trivial as how they robes smelled! The hotel itself has a very cool and industrial architecture but without the coldness! They have incorporated huge water marble art and very minimalistic marine-animal art which was a great juxtaposition. We were only here for one night, but this was easily one of those hotels where the hotel itself becomes part of the trip.

It is difficult to figure out the details when all the reviews are bunched together. Drinks at the bar, with a view of the Columbia River, although I don't believe there were any happy hour discounts. Limited menu. Rachel was our bartender, she called us the Norblad couple because that's where we were staying. Bar faces away from the water view but the room is light and bright. We ordered simple drinks (pilsner, cider) and a share plate. This turned out to be a great affordable option for an afternoon snack with our drinks. A huge portion for $18 including dried and fresh fruit, nuts, cheese and two pieces of toast with smoked salmon. We snacked and drank and enjoyed the view as the river went by outside. So glad we came to check out this hotel!

I love old buildings that look like they should be haunted (but aren't because ghosts no longer exist since the Large Hadron Colliber first came online!!) Commodore is both. And completely unhaunted. Ill definitely stay here again. Yes, SOME rooms have a shared bathroom and shower down the hallway (hello!! 100+ year old building!!!) Yes it is sometimes noisy (hello!!! It is downtown!!!) Yes it creaks! (Hello! You should sound so good when you hit 100 years old!!!) Yes, it is totally unhaunted! (Hello! It is over 100 years old!!) No! It doesn't have AC (hello! Have you tried renovating ac into a 100 year old building?) but ceiling fans provided more then enough air movement! Here is the skinny, it is still one of the best hotels in Astoria. A town famous for being the second oldest on the west coast (if you don't watch movies, and are into history), with a ton of Victorian era buildings giving it a bit of seaport charm (because it has been a seaport for over 200 years!!!) The actors in period accurate costumes, especially "Tilly" were a great bonus.

The setting has a classic feel, with antique details like the steel radiator and retro windows. The room is small but clean and full of character. At $350 for two nights, it feels a bit expensive, but it offers a unique experience. There is a shared men's and women's bathroom on each floor, along with two showers. There is no A/C--just a fan in the room. We also noticed a fairly strong dog smell inside the elevator and in the bedroom, even though we like dogs. I was initially worried about noise from upstairs with a family of four (including two kids), but that hasn't been an issue. Most of the noise came from the bar across the street, where groups were loud late into the night. I used the complimentary earplugs for the first time in years of staying at hotels, and they were helpful. I could still hear the noise, and it continued until after 3:10 a.m., when the conversations outside the bar finally died down. On the bright side, the manager and staff are friendly and professional. If you're looking for a historic, classic stay, this is a distinctive option--just be aware of the shared facilities, the pet odor, and the potential for street noise.

When our two-night stay was over, we wished that we could have spent our whole week's vacation at this most beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming place. We have already made a reservation to stay at Windwater again next year to enjoy Rafael and Patty's friendly hospitality, special breakfasts, and to kick back and enjoy the view and the many local interest books and brochures, and all the amenities in the kitchen, like the Chefman electric kettle for heating water for our hot chocolate at night. We booked through the Hilton Honors app, which I recommend, cause then you can pick your room. I also picked to have a river facing room, which I would recommend. Rooms were clean, comfortable, maybe a little tight for a family of 3 with 3 suitcases, but we made it work. Complimentary breakfast was the usual fare. Definitely recommend getting out and walking along the river walk path. Other reviews mentioned the sea lions, but we didn't hear any while we were there. It's also close to Pier 39, which has a great little coffee place. Overall, great stay, price was reasonable, rooms were comfortable and clean!

She was very disgusted as was I. Also upon moving back one of the chairs in the room, a cup of soup container was under the chair, not ours. Obviously whomever cleaned the room prior to us checking in on Friday did not do a very good job. I hope that at least the sheets had been changed. One other minor issue was that I had asked the front desk person for an extra desk chair for the room after we checked in on Friday. He could not seem to find one extra chair for me in the entire complex...or maybe he didn't even bother to check. Again on Saturday I asked the new guy the same thing and was told no extra chairs. Unbelievable. I booked this room based on my assumption that Hampton/Hilton hotels were top notch places to stay. I am now very disappointed in this assumption. After trying to contact the manager without success Hotels.com agent was able to get me a very small credit for this overly expense hotel. I will never stay here again.
