Views of the pier from the river walk
    Hannah S.

This pier is one of my absolute FAVE parts of Astoria! The surrounding scenery is just gorgeous- I could linger here for hours just bc of that...but there are shops, restaurants, kayak rentals, SCUBA shop, and even a museum here as well. AND one of my favorite coffee shops of all time is here (Coffee Girl - highly recommend)!! The pier is known for its museum dedicated to the 147 year old cannery and it does a beautiful job honoring that history and all the workers. There's a ton of photos and info signs scattered around all the businesses as well - especially in Coffee Girl as it was named after the original "coffee girls" that served coffee to the cannery workers on their breaks - even at the same counter top!! My favorite thing to do is stop by Coffee Girl for their incredible coffee and amazing breakfast sandwiches and sit out on the back of the pier watching the giant ships roll by - and all the birds too! There are seal colonies nearby as well but they're gone during summer. The pier is located on the far east end of the Astoria Riverwalk. In the summers, the trolley runs and there are several stops nearby if you don't want to walk the trail but the trail is definitely worth it - so beautiful! Lots of photo ops (too many LOL)!! But you can also drive to it - even drive across the pier and there's some parking at the end. But be warned - the pier is pretty rickety - the boards flop around and make quite a racket when you drive across (see my videos). And if you're walking across while people are driving across, it's quite an unnerving experience LOL!

Cute messages I found in the bathroom

A must see place! It's so unique and a beautiful way to see the Columbia River. You can walk or drink on the dock leading to the building which was a little scary but very neat! The inside has lots of cool store, boating parts, and don't forget to read the wall with the hand written messages (funnily enough the bathroom stalls in the women's room had some cute messages and drawings that had me reading for a while. Our favorite part though was the love lock bridge. Located on the back of the pier and there are locks to purchase within the store inside. We found it on a whim and cant wait to come back to see our lock in future years.

They had a fire here a few years ago and I heard that the pier burned to the waterline. Glad that turned out to not be true. Or it if did they sure got it back up and running quickly. This is where the bumble bee cannery/museum is. There is also a pretty decent seafood restaurant here as well. I like the coffee shop here also. Major negative is the very limited amount of parking. You can park at the hotel (I suppose)... it's posted for guests only but I've never had a problem being towed. It's at the far east end of Astoria.

Vegan Bratwurst side of sidewinders and a local brew called Batsquatch.

Found this little gem by accident. But I am glad we did. I got the vegan bratwurst with vegan kraut and mustard, served with a side of sidewinders. It was great. My friend got the clam chowder, he obviously liked it, as it was gone very fast. The beer I tried was Batsquatch a lighter IPA. They have sample glasses for beer, just ask your server. Our server was Nicole, she was great and very patient as I waited for my to make his way from the nearby museum. Overall a great experience. Family friendly, kids menu, service animals only.

Beautiful view, fun environment, hand sanitizer out. Unfortunately during our visit, they were out of the vegetarian burger, and the other option wasn't very great. However this is a nice menu, beverages came immediately, food perfectly timed, nice and hot. They had a few fun items, like a craft root beer float, which my son absolutely loved. The burgers were delicious, and came with all the toppings you want! About $16 a person with food and drink. It was rather difficult to find the covid exit. Actually I didn't. Sorry. Service was wonderful. Would definitely return!

The pier is getting better every year. This year we discovered the cutest wine bar "The Vineside Wine Bar". The owners were so nice and the appetizer we had went very will with the wine flight we had. The bar is right inside the the pier and as you can see many cozy places to sit.

    Sealions!

This pier was the total bomb! We came because we heard the Sealions would be there. We were not disappointed. The sealions we so many there were not enough places for them all to rest. They make so much noise and are so active! We visited on April 10, but I am not sure what times of year these guys come and hang out. Who knows! If I'm ever in the area again, I will for sure swing by to see if my sea pals are hanging out!

Highlights of our trip included: * The Room & Views: Having a suite gave us great extra space, and the views of the Columbia River were unbeatable. * The Amenities: We loved the complimentary hot breakfast (with a live omelet station!), grabbing an early evening drink in the lounge, and the 7 PM cookies. * The Location: It's perfectly situated right on the river walk and just steps away from great places to eat. * The Spa: We both had incredible massages. I usually find resort massages to be hit or miss, but our therapist, Breanne, was phenomenal. She knew exactly what she was doing and finally removed a knot I've had for weeks! Highly recommend booking a stay (and a massage with Breanne)!"

The pool is situated with a great view and has an actual Swedish sauna right there for a quick steam (with water rocks and everything). It is very accessible from Portland and the drive there is beautiful, and when you arrive at your destination you immediately feel at peace. Brian and Linda do a great job of making you feel welcome. We brought our own snacks and had a picnic in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the river, which is so wide at that point that it almost gives the visual of being at the ocean as ships rolled by. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable bed and a wonderful view out of the window. The rates are very affordable and include breakfast - Brian is a great cook and they offer several meal options. We added the firewood package and were so glad we did, as I type this I wish I could be back there next to the fire while looking at the river. They only have two rooms so if you went with some friends you would have the whole place to yourselves. This really is a hidden gem and I highly recommend making the trip while you can.

The location was ideal in that it was within walking distance of the river front and downtown area, w/in driving distance to areas of interest like, the Astoria Column, the beaches and parks and more importantly all the "Goonie" sights! Clementines itself was great. The innkeeper was very nice and helpful with any questions that we had about what to do or where to go. Our room was...."roomy".....comfortable and full of personality. Clementines also allows pets which is a nice consideration so we were able to bring our puppy along for the trip. The breakfast was simple yet good with a very homey feel sitting around the breakfast table chatting with the other people staying over and with the innkeeper and her help. We would definitely recommend staying here if you ever find yourself in Astoria....you should make reservations first.....and there's no minimum stay, so stay for a night, two nights or more. We were short on time, but you can bet we'll be back to search for One-eyed-Willie's treasure..and when we do we'll be staying at Clementines Bed & Breakfast.

The City of Astoria requires that any business use its legal name in all advertisements, including Airbnb listings, so as not to mislead the public. I give special tribute to Ingrid, who works in the wine bar. She's personable, professional, and very enjoyable to interact with. However, this property, as they advertise on Airbnb, is not a Victorian property as they described. This false description was a deciding factor for me to stay at the Elliott Hotel, which they do not mention. Had I known that it was a hotel--which was horribly overpriced--I would have gone elsewhere. I was assigned the wrong room. In the ad with Airbnb, it stated (with a picture that was very attractive) that this was my room until I arrived at the Elliott Hotel, constructed in 1924. This is misleading information. The Victorian Era was between 1840 and 1900. When I read "Victorian property," I was under the impression it was a Victorian home built in the 1880s or 1890s, with elaborate carpentry and design. When I initially arrived in Astoria on the 17th, I was surprised to discover it wasn't what I thought. Things started escalating from there. When I told the front desk that I had booked through Airbnb and that I had prepaid, they told me at that time that they don't have a relationship with them. Immediately I was ill-informed. I corrected them, saying, "You do have a relationship with them; otherwise, I would not be here." Even though I prepaid $235.00 for the first night, I was charged twice. The unauthorized transaction caused a significant problem, which was resolved on the spot the following morning, very early. I want to commend Atticus for bringing a quick resolve by reversing the charges on the spot when I brought it to his attention. Nevertheless, this is something that should never happen, especially when they were informed the day before that the room was prepaid. When I expressed my concerns the next day, they would not inform me who made the error, and they did not take responsibility for their actions. Instead, they blamed Airbnb. And there was no apology. As a customer, I was terribly misrepresented and, at the same time, insulted by management. When a guest experiences such a significant setback, there should be an immediate apology. I suggest that anybody reading this review do their due diligence in finding an Airbnb that offers great value for every dollar spent. Because of the ad, I doubled my budget, thinking that I was staying in a beautiful Victorian property--but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I would recommend that you keep looking. It's one thing to pay $225.00 for a room, but it's another thing not getting the room which Airbnb promised. When I brought my concerns to the front desk, they made excuses, took no responsibility for their actions, and again offered no apology. The same happened when they made an unauthorized payment after I had already prepaid. The Elliott Hotel management may argue they reversed my charges--but they were obligated to. This should have never happened, especially when I told them the room was prepaid. I have a right to know the name of the person who made the error, but they kept that a secret. Apparently, the City of Astoria requires that a business use its legal business name in any advertisement. It did not appear in the Airbnb ad that I read. Naturally, staff blamed Airbnb rather than admitting they were at fault. Unfortunately, because of the circumstances, I had no choice but to stay a second night. Included are images of the room I was in (404). Since I'm leaving this morning, I apologize for the photos, but I wanted to share them nevertheless for your benefit. Because of the things that happened, I feel obligated to warn the public: ask the right questions before booking.
