My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Elliott in late September 2024. The breakfast in the morning felt like we were eating in someone's private dining room. Our room was very comfortable, well appointed & we slept great! If you go, check out the game room in the basement & the fantastic roof deck. Highly recommended!!

My husband and I booked the Elliot for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We stayed for two nights in the Executive Suite. I booked the hotel because the location is unbeatable if you want to be able to walk around and visit the bars and breweries in town for an affordable price. As a bonus we checked out on Sunday so we got to also hit up the farmer's market! The hotel is nicely updated while still maintaining it's original charms. There is only one elevator, of which both the cleaning staff and guests use, so at times it can take a minute or two for the elevator to arrive, never too long to be a bother though. Every single hotel staff member we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful when needed. The front desk was able to answer our questions and help guide us where to park since we were staying until the day of the farmers market and certain roads would be shutdown. You would think this would have been a bother, but it wasn't a big deal at all and we had zero issues parking thanks to their guidance. Our room was lovely. Exactly as pictured on their website with no surprises. The bed was comfortable too. I normally have issues sleeping away from home, but didn't have any issues sleeping at the Elliot. The bathtub was massive and the bathroom's heated tiles were a nice touch. We stayed on a weekend that was hot one day and cold the next so we used the AC one night and the fireplace another. Both worked wonderfully. There is a pool table, and gym, neither of which we got a chance to use. We did however get a chance to enjoy the rooftop lounge area which had a fantastic view of both the city and the water. We went up one morning and enjoyed mimosas that we made in our room, the next morning it was closed due to rain. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at this hotel. I will say something I thought of while eating breakfast was that the breakfast options are great for us, but our kids wouldn't have enjoyed it. They only offer the bland oats type cereal, no bagels just English muffins, toast, etc. and then eggs, fruit, and a meat item. Our kids would prefer more kid friendly cereal for breakfast. That's not a crazy important thing to mention, but I did in the event someone reading my review is bringing their kids and needs to plan for these things. All in all we had a fantastic stay and plan on staying at the Elliot every time we visit Astoria, OR.

This is our go to stay in Astoria. It's unique and centrally located. If the weather is nice enough, take advantage of the roof top!

Hotel is a nicely remodeled to historical period hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our room was extremely quiet snd the bed was very comfortable. Pandemic restrictions made things a bit awkward, not any fault of the hotel. The wine bar was closed and the included morning breakfast was served as a pick up and take to your room. I understand with the price range of this hotel that I would not be expecting a gourmet breakfast experience and the pandemic restrictions made providing a take to your room bagged meal a difficult proposition for the business. However, the choices offered in the way of boxed cereal, cellophane wrapped muffins and instant oatmeal( although it was Bobs Red Mill oatmeal) left us feeling that a little more effort and thought could have made it a lot less cheap seeming. All in all, Hotel Elliot provided a nice experience!

Our go-to place to stay in Astoria. Beautiful hotel and rooms. Conveniently located to everything with parking. Super comfortable beds and very clean and comfortable rooms. Suite 407 is wonderful. The only very minor complaint is the quality of their coffee. Really not drinkable, but other than that, it's a great place to stay.

Rooftop terrace, Bowpicker fish and chips, and some Fort George brews. Perfect lunch!

I loved most things about this hotel: the location & walkability, the old time charm, the rooftop terrace, the nice breakfast and staff. But there were a few downsides: there's no parking and there's time limits for street parking, which is not great if you plan to park and walk everywhere. The bed was so firm it hurt my back and hips, but I sleep on a tempurpedic at home. The air conditioning unit in our room was a portable unit and the hose came detached from the vent during the night causing the room to overheat. Overall, the good outweighed the bad. The parking situation was enough to remedy by parking a few blocks up the hill in a no time limit zone. However, having to walk that far would make it a nightmare to travel with my toddler and all of her gear.

While we were already excited based on the photos online, the reality of the experience surpassed every expectation from the moment we arrived. As soon as we stepped out of the car, we were greeted by the iconic sound of sea lions barking below the pier which immediately set a perfect maritime tone for our stay. The service began with a level of care that was truly impressive. The staff valeted our car and even ensured it was fully charged while parked, which was such a thoughtful and convenient touch. Heidi handled our check in with such warmth and professionalism that we felt like honored guests right away. We were delighted to be upgraded to a suite and the accommodations were stunning. One of the highlights was having the sauna pods right outside our door on the pier. It was an invigorating and peaceful experience that made the stay feel like a luxury retreat. The atmosphere at night is absolutely magical. Watching the cargo barges drift by while they are fully lit up is a beautiful sight and the historical trolley runs right outside the hotel for easy exploration. The location is perfectly placed within walking distance to a variety of excellent restaurants, coffee shops, and local activities. Each morning, we had a lovely "breakfasts with a view" of yogurt, berries, cheese, hard boiled eggs, quiche, peanut butter, and biscuits. Although the kitchen range is not to be used for actual cooking, we were told it is fine for reheating, and found it perfect for our biscuits, quiche and ...chocolate chip cookies! Though a bit on the pricey side, we found walking to the Astoria Co-op wonderful for breakfast foods (and ice cream). The apartment was nicely cleaned, and the simple decor was perfect! We also enjoyed the little snacks in the fridge. Please note that the spacious, modern with historical ambiance apartment, in an incredibly gorgeous and convenient location more than makes up for the inconveniences discussed below. But I am including them in hopes the Norblad wants to perfect the experience, and also so guests might be aware. 1. While the gorgeous, huge windows lining two sides of this apartment provided lots of light and views, they do not stay up, and when we arrived in mid-July, all the blinds & curtains were left open and the afternoon sun had baked the 7th floor apartment. With creative engineering to keep the windows up, little air came into the bedroom and sleeping was made even more difficult due to the street noise. Availability of a window box fan instead of the floor tower fan which barely moves air would have helped immensely! Between closing all the drapes/blinds before heading out for the next day's adventures which kept the apartment cooler, and placing the small, round (dusty) fan we borrowed from the Norblad in front of the one bedroom window we propped open with a book, sleeping was improved due to the cool night airflow and the fan's white noise masking the street sounds. The bedding was quite comfortable, but the mattress was quite soft. And while the towels were also very soft, they were barely absorbent. (If the hotel uses fabric softener for towels, I'd suggest stopping as it is counterproductive to absorbency.) 2. Concerning Trash & Recycling, info about what can be recycled, and where to put our T/R would have been helpful instead of letting our can get full for the cleaning staff to dump. 3. Please consider installing a wall hung coat rack as there is no closet available near the entry. I imagine that on rainy days, hangin wet jackets would especially be appreciated. 3. Maintenance overdue: * The freezer is due for defrosting. Heavy ice buildup put strain on appliances. * The bathroom sink does not drain properly. * The toilet paper holder is missing from the wall, presumably where the two large holes in the drywall remain. (If not already done, perhaps the cleaning staff could be tasked with or reminded to let maintenance know when things need attention.) I appreciated the blinds on the windows, being able to open those windows to let the fresh river air into the room, and my comfortable bed.
