What a beautiful stay. We came into Astoria late last night not knowing we would stay here. Loretta answered her call and we stayed the night. Gracious and wonderful service. Clean and quiet surroundings. Breath taking views from Cloud 9. The breakfast nook and food was lite, fruit was fresh and salmon bagel delicious. Thank you for a wonderful memory.

This is not your typical bed and breakfast. The property is completely independent so you're the only guest onsite. The home is beautiful, modern, well appointed, extremely clean and so comfortable. It has tall ceilings and large windows with breathtaking views of Astoria and the Columbia River. There is a fully equipped kitchen with an island, minus the oven. The upstairs area is a comfy sitting area which hubby used for reading. The perfect place you wanted to call home when you're away from home. Rafael was the perfect host. He greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the property. Every morning he prepared delicious hot breakfast and coffee for us. The refrigerator was fully stocked with water, juice and beer. There was even sparkling wine if you wanted to make mimosas in the morning. The bathroom had a towel rack that can warm/dry your towels before and after shower, which I absolutely loved. Who doesn't like a warm towel after shower? It's a 5-star bed and breakfast because every little detail was put into this place and I can't wait to come back and stay with Rafael the next time I'm in Astoria!

Pam and David are the sweetest and most hospitable hosts, and their B&B truly feels like a cozy home. They collect really fun items, and each room has its own character and its own unique homey decor. The location of the inn is close enough to walk anywhere you would want to go out for dinner, drinks, or shopping. The best part of the inn (besides Pam's breakfasts - which always include the BEST fruit bowls) is most definitely their 13 year old chihuahua, Penny. She often makes an appearance after breakfast and steals the heart of everyone she meets. If you aren't able to use a tub with a shower handle (like the kind popular in Europe) to bathe, then I would suggest getting one of their rooms with a shower/tub combination. I loved having a clawfoot tub to soak in (we stayed in the Rose Room this time) each night while I read and drank a cup of tea. There is usually hot water and teabags or instant coffee available at all hours (freshly brewed coffee is available starting at 7am) on the stairway landing and I took full advantage of that amenity!

Judith has been at the bed and breakfast biz for a very long time and she knows how to do it! She works hard to make guests feel welcomed and happy. Located in the hills of quaint Astoria, this place oozes with old-fashioned charm -- making it irresistible for a romantic heart like mine. We have stayed in the French Violet room twice (our favorite) and in the schoolhouse building once. Both were great and we had a wonderful stay. I love that there aren't tv's in the rooms -- you don't come to a B&B to watch TV! I love the well-curated furnishings and the way Judith has accommodated my food requests every time. She is an amazing host. She is honest and direct, but also warm and welcoming. The best traits, in my opinion. Clementine's is our place...and we hope Judith is here for many more years. I want people to know that they shouldn't book a stay with you until they check out the area because they will not get their money back if they don't feel safe.

Every corner of every room was quaintly and beautifully decorated. You could clearly see the pride of ownership everywhere you looked. The inn-keeper made us a different fresh breakfast each of our two mornings here. She was very friendly and we enjoyed talking with her while we ate breakfast. She was very helpful in answering our questions and making recommendations for places in town to visit and dine. Astoria is an older, well-established town with period buildings. At no time did we feel unsafe staying here, there were no signs of homelessness in the vicinity; the area around the B&B was no different than any of the many areas of Astoria that we visited. We parked our car right in front of the B&B on both nights, without any problem or issues. We would gladly stay here again!

The setting has a classic feel, with antique details like the steel radiator and retro windows. The room is small but clean and full of character. At $350 for two nights, it feels a bit expensive, but it offers a unique experience. There is a shared men's and women's bathroom on each floor, along with two showers. There is no A/C--just a fan in the room. We also noticed a fairly strong dog smell inside the elevator and in the bedroom, even though we like dogs. I was initially worried about noise from upstairs with a family of four (including two kids), but that hasn't been an issue. Most of the noise came from the bar across the street, where groups were loud late into the night. I used the complimentary earplugs for the first time in years of staying at hotels, and they were helpful. I could still hear the noise, and it continued until after 3:10 a.m., when the conversations outside the bar finally died down. On the bright side, the manager and staff are friendly and professional. If you're looking for a historic, classic stay, this is a distinctive option--just be aware of the shared facilities, the pet odor, and the potential for street noise.

I have found a review mentioning the problem that is a year old, so this situation has to be known to the owners. Guests at a hotel have a reasonable expectation of a quiet room, so this seems to be a very dishonest business practice.
