I wasn't expecting much of this place because it's a motel and how good can it be? Pretty good apparently. The loby is small and yu go into an office to check in and that too is small, but the lady who checked us in was tired from doing a double shift, but still friendly. She assigned us rooms and it was right off the lobby which was right of the parking lot, so we didn't have to walk too far, which was great for my Mom. We got into the room and holy fanoley, it's huge! High ceilings, updated, and they have these cool geometric felt pads all over the hotel that really modernize and brighten the decor. It's a one floor hotel which means no worries about elevators breaking down or stairs. In the evening the staff disappears, so you get in with a room code. The lobby has a couple of high top tables for breakfast, but they have lots of options for beverages- Keurig coffee with pods, tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, and hot water to make all of that. They even had microwave popcorn for the guests to make in their room. The saloon was closed that night because the season had just ended and it was a week night, which was sad, but it looks like it's fun on a busy night. They have grass, picnic benches, cornhole, and firepits, so I'll have to come back in the summer to check out the scene.
The only reason why they lost a star from me is location. I thought we were just staying at a motel and we didn't care because we were just there for a day trip in Long Beach and we wanted to be near the beach. From the description of the inn I thought we would be just a quick walk from the beach. We kinda were, but it wasn't obvious where to go to find it. Maybe they needed some directional signs. What most people do is get in their car and head to the main entrances to the beach and yes, you are a short drive away from there which is great, but not what I expected. read more
