There are not many cafe spots in this part of Brooklyn, and this is definitely something we needed! This is great spot for coffee with a beautiful interior design that gives that true cafe feel. I didn't bring my laptop to do work, but I would definitely bring it with me next time. They even have a private meeting room for meetings or study groups! They have a great deal on Yelp that gives you a free 12 oz drink if you sign up on their website - definitely take advantage of this! Would definitely recommend one of their lattes, my personal favorite being latte with lavender. A cute little local spot which is just what the neighborhood needed. It's a cafe with Turkish breakfast and coffee/teas. But don't expect that this will be a whole brunch experience. You order at the register and you pick up your food at the counter and find yourself an available table. No wait service here. There was a decent amount of indoor seating and wasn't any issue on a weekday morning. The decor is cozy and some seating a little more private or you can sit by the window and people watch. I ordered the Avocado toast with a Turkish coffee. The avocado toast was delicious and not as pricey as other places can be. The Turkish coffee was very strong which I loved. If you've ever had Turkish coffee it is very very rich and highly caffeinated. I love the little cup it comes in, tiny but packs a strong caffeine punch! My friend ordered the roast beef sandwich and the pot of berry tea. She loved everything. The croissants were not anything to write home about, but we had to try it. I doubt they were fresh or baked on site from the taste and texture. I would come again for a quick sit down spot to grab a bite. read more

We had just flown in to NY and we're waiting for our Airbnb to be available. We stayed at Shepherd's Cup to have breakfast and to look around for surrounding places to do something fun all while having our luggages. There were only two people working throughout the entire time we were there but their service was incredible. They were super nice & made us feel welcomed on our first day in NY. Shepherds Cup and Divan Bakery are both godsends to Avenue U. Luckily for me, they are located within one block of each other. Shepherds Cup has a limited menu but the offerings are surprisingly top notch. It has Think coffee which is a step above. The staff is very welcoming and extraordinarily polite. The interior is lovely and conducive to studying and chatting. Nobody is rushing you out. In all my years living in this neighborhood I never dreamed a place like this would open up on Avenue U.
