I ordered the Kharcho soup, a tomato based broth with chunks of tender lamb and lots of fresh herbs. My friend ordered the chicken stroganoff with mashed potatoes, and we got potato pelmeni to share. I got my usual cappuccino but this time with a shot of amaretti flavor, and it was the perfect accompaniment to my lunch. Food came out relatively fast, and all of it was piping hot. I was in the mood for a coffee, then also desired something sweet like a danish. I saw Coffee Spot Café across the road and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I noticed the decor had a classic look about it and many vintage items. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful in the service of their valued customers. I ended up getting a bowl of chicken meatball soup, danish and a chocolate raspberry coffee. Every thing was delicious with a made from scratch flavor. I used to love this place a lot. Me and my friend used to order their soups, sandwiches and bakery stuff all the time! I even had to go to the atm because this place accepts ONLY CASH. One day we ordered soup and the person who took an order was the owner. While we were waiting, the other girl(she didn't know we were served) simply asked us if we need help. When the owner heard that and he started yelling at my friend with such an attitude like "I TOLD YOU TO WAIT". WTH?! Didn't have a great experience here. Came in ordering two egg and cheese sandwiches, one with bacon, one without, the girl taking my order misunderstood me and after she placed the order in the back and I corrected her she reprimanded me for the misunderstanding blaming me for the mistake. I get home with my orders and neither one of them have cheese.. so even when I tried to make sure they got my order right, they still got it wrong. You know, it is places like these that make me appreciate and notice my old hood of Sheapshead bay. It is a lovely spot. Looks busy enough to earn regular patrons. But not too crowded that you can enjoy some peace and quiet, either by the front store window (particularly if you, like me, enjoy people watching), or in the back tables for a more intimate or private conversation, business deal or some email catch-up. The coffee shop at first looks cute but then you notice it's dirty and messy. The shelf in the container that holds the pastries is very dirty and looks like it has collected dirt from the past years. You see it on the left side immediately when you first walk in. On the right is a display of cards/ advertisements and it's all very cluttered. Baristas have an unfriendly vibe. They are wearing their face masks under their chins. When I went to pay for my drink they said they only take cash so I wasn't able to take it because I only had card. I think it all worked out for the best because the place was so dirty I was probably saved from having a stomach ache. read more

Been going here for over two years now and I love their pastries, however their coffee is always a hit or miss. My biggest issue with this place is that no one, literally not a single staff member wears a mask. They keep it on their chin which is ridiculous cause there's little to no ventilation in the cafe and they're breathing down on the drinks and food. The place was one of my favorites but I literally feel like covid is breathing down my shoulder whenever I attempt to step inside. Also, they have a sign outside that reads "wear a mask" and they literally let anyone in, maybe 1 out of the 5-10 people who are on line there are wearing a mask. It's so upsetting. The line always stretches outside the front door, rain or shine during peak hours but it goes by quickly so don't get off line :) Even with a newer Starbucks opening up across the street, there is no comparison to the quality and value you will get from Coffee Spot Cafe. I have lived here for over a decade and every morning order my chocolate raspberry iced coffee or my French vanilla iced coffee. If you're in the mood for something sweet, the breads and pastries are all made fresh until they sell out and let me tell you, they are all out of this world... the apple cranberry slice, vegan chocolate cheesecake, cinnamon banana walnut bread... the list goes on and on. I've sat and had eggs, sandwiches, salads and soups from here as well and the service is always friendly and the girls at the counter always remember us "regulars" and what we order. They are cash only and by all means - good for them. I will happily support them. They're prices are so affordable that you really can't complain about being cash only. Very disappointed. Have been a loyal customer for a while. But I guess Russian places just can't provide a normal service. On top of mixing up orders a few times, they often overcharge. I've been ordering the same thing for 2 weeks - not once it was the same price. Today they just crossed the line, I overpaid like 5$ but kz of the heat I realized it 10min later..
