I ordered the Kharcho soup, a tomato based broth with chunks of tender lamb and lots of fresh herbs. My friend ordered the chicken stroganoff with mashed potatoes, and we got potato pelmeni to share. I got my usual cappuccino but this time with a shot of amaretti flavor, and it was the perfect accompaniment to my lunch. Food came out relatively fast, and all of it was piping hot. Upon entering, I noticed the decor had a classic look about it and many vintage items. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful in the service of their valued customers. I ended up getting a bowl of chicken meatball soup, danish and a chocolate raspberry coffee. Every thing was delicious with a made from scratch flavor. I limited my visits to Coffee Spot only for eggs & home-fries breakfast pickups. Often times they screw up the order and I would look the other way, but today I lost my patience. Sigh. The eggs were so burned they were inedible. I threw it all out. Why would you serve your customer such burned food? It costs pennies to re-make 2 eggs, and maybe 5-min of time. You know, it is places like these that make me appreciate and notice my old hood of Sheapshead bay. It is a lovely spot. Looks busy enough to earn regular patrons. But not too crowded that you can enjoy some peace and quiet, either by the front store window (particularly if you, like me, enjoy people watching), or in the back tables for a more intimate or private conversation, business deal or some email catch-up. Came in ordering two egg and cheese sandwiches, one with bacon, one without, the girl taking my order misunderstood me and after she placed the order in the back and I corrected her she reprimanded me for the misunderstanding blaming me for the mistake. I get home with my orders and neither one of them have cheese.. so even when I tried to make sure they got my order right, they still got it wrong. I'll keep my business at bagel boy around the block, the lines there are longer but the guys behind the counter tend to get the order right the first time around. read more

I've been ordering the same thing for 2 weeks - not once it was the same price. Today they just crossed the line, I overpaid like 5$ but kz of the heat I realized it 10min later.. The coffee shop at first looks cute but then you notice it's dirty and messy. The shelf in the container that holds the pastries is very dirty and looks like it has collected dirt from the past years. You see it on the left side immediately when you first walk in. On the right is a display of cards/ advertisements and it's all very cluttered. Baristas have an unfriendly vibe. They are wearing their face masks under their chins. When I went to pay for my drink they said they only take cash so I wasn't able to take it because I only had card. Been going here for over two years now and I love their pastries, however their coffee is always a hit or miss. My biggest issue with this place is that no one, literally not a single staff member wears a mask. They keep it on their chin which is ridiculous cause there's little to no ventilation in the cafe and they're breathing down on the drinks and food. The place was one of my favorites but I literally feel like covid is breathing down my shoulder whenever I attempt to step inside. Also, they have a sign outside that reads "wear a mask" and they literally let anyone in, maybe 1 out of the 5-10 people who are on line there are wearing a mask. It's so upsetting. I loved this place and still do but I'm not going back until they start abiding by the safety regulations. read more

Soups: one word: delicious, especially the cold ones Try the green spinach borscht (cold), also okroshka (my faves) From the hot ones, I love the split pea and the mushroom barley The conventional Russian borscht (red beet soup) is a must, of course. 4. Coffee/cappuccino 5. Potato ravioli Russian style The service is great too. Friendly, helpful, and fast. (They give you sour cream and delicious Russian bread to go with your soup). The lattes, iced coffees, cappuccinos, are all delicious The interior is nice and cozy and has the feel of a real local coffee spot, which is rare for Sheepshead. So, I guess it depends what time you come here, but during lunch hours, the place gets extremely busy and you might spend a lot of time in line and there are barely any places to sit. 2. I am Russian, so to me the service and baristas seem normal and not rude, however I can understand why American people can take it the wrong way. 3. Cash only!
