So, I've had different experiences at the coffee spot that is why I waited to write my review! Overall, I Love the place! The food is great!! And I mean like everything (!!!) home made pastries, soups, bagels, etc... But also, I can see why some people might not have the best experience here. 1. It's so so small and gets crowded at times!! So, I guess it depends what time you come here, but during lunch hours, the place gets extremely busy and you might spend a lot of time in line and there are barely any places to sit. 2. I am Russian, so to me the service and baristas seem normal and not rude, however I can understand why American people can take it the wrong way. 3. Cash only! Best coffee on this side of Brooklyn I have never tried anything here but the various coffee, so can't speak on anything else, but that's all I want went I come here. The lattes, iced coffees, cappuccinos, are all delicious The interior is nice and cozy and has the feel of a real local coffee spot, which is rare for Sheepshead. POC BEWARE! Menu is intriguing, atmosphere looks inviting, but the staff is not. As a POC, I found this place quite rude and racist. One of the women behind the counter took my friend's coffee order while another staff member poured our soup into to-go containers. I asked the same woman behind the counter for a coffee since she was about to pour a cup for my friend (who was white). She looked at me incredulously as though she couldn't believe I asked her to wait on me then sternly told me that I was already being helped (her coworker took our soup orders and told me to wait, in a very "know your place" kind of tone. She gave my friend her coffee and took the coffee order of the woman behind ne. The staff (who were also white) giggled at her treatment with me. The coffee is good but not worth a trip back to the 1950s. I have loved this little gem of a coffee spot since I was a little girl who wasn't even allowed to drink coffee. It's a small vintage coffee shop that offers a great variety of pastries drinks and food. I personally am not a big coffee drinker myself so I do enjoy their vast selections of tea instead, my favorite is the Iced African Nectar. Their food is also yummy. I often recommend it to my non russian friends as the first taste of russian borscht. Their borscht is vegetarian so if you prefer meat in your soup you should probably look for another spot. Oh and let's not forget about the slamming chicken schnitzel. Yumm. Have cash on hand. They do not accept cards. read more

I have been here many many times and each time is better than the last. Coffee is delicious; a regular cup of joe, espresso, and specialty drinks are all good. Breakfast is always the bomb and of course their pastries. Service is always good but if you don't speak Russian it can be rough. My only complaint is that it is cash only which is a bummer. Full on attitude for absolutely no reason. I got a seriously dirty look and attitude when I asked for almond milk. They then messed up the order, gave me a dirty look, and started talking to me like a child - even though they realized and admitted to having made the mistake. To top it off they didn't have correct change to give back to me, and then the cashier took part of the change they did end up giving me and put it into her own tip jar. No words, no explanation, no asking for it - just took the money and put it in her tip jar. Find another place for coffee. There are plenty of places within a block or two. read more

The best coffee in all of New York hands down! I drink my coffee black because of them. No sweeteners, syrups or creamers needed. The coffee taste as coffee should, especially the chocolate raspberry. The house made desserts are so delicious that we order whole cakes of them. i found this place on Yelp, and came by for breakfast on a Monday morning. Line to the door, but that was takeout, and I got a table quickly. Open WiFi makes me happy right away. It's typical coffee stop for grab and go, but if you consider to stay and eat something, they have couple tables. Breakfast and bakery are pretty good, you can puck healthy choice like oatmeal with some toping, or something else( pancakes, muffins etc). Fill of Russian ladies with attitudes. I'm Latina and wasn't welcomed. I tried to order and the person behind the counter said "I'm with a customer" and walked away... So I waited and than after two min she came back and said "what do u want".... I mean customer service is lacking. She got my coffee wrong and got an attitude when I told her it was an ice coffee not a hot coffee. She dumped the hot coffee in a cup and add ice to it. When I got it the ice was melted and the ice coffee was semi hot with a watery taste. I would stay away from this place if your not one of there own. read more

Small arrow coffee shop with predominantly Russian patrons and staff. Don't expect smiling service though it is fairly quick for a latte. The espresso was fairly watery and a little burned tasting so fairly disappointing. Interesting range of baked goods. Be prepared to be in everyone's way constantly due to the small size. read more

Used to love this place. But they keep getting new girls seems like every two days. And new people just don't know what they are doing. Every time I happen to walk through sheepshead bay - where I used to work and therefore used to get their coffee everyday - I make sure to leave my house a little early so I have a chance to stop by - cold or hot.. they get every order right, everytime. As I walked into this coffee shop I was very excited to try some of their coffee. I was deeply disappointed in how I was greeted by one of the girls behind the counter. I asked her very nicely, what coffee she recommends because it's my first time here. No smile no interest was given to me. She basically read off the menu that I looked at first. I had their house blend which was OK. Nothing special, as good as no name brand brewed in the drip. The espresso however was superb with intense flavor. The interior decor is great. Very classy, unique and gives the place a lot of character. Definitely makes this coffee shop stand out. I like the big window facing the street with seating by it. They have a wide selection of gourmet pastries and really cool snacks, which I didn't try but they do look very appetizing. The only down side is their staff. They either seemed angry or prissy, depending on the day and never smile or attempt to appear remotely friendly. Most girls are super friendly with patron customers, which is not fair to others who get the biggest nastiest attitude.10 minutes ago I went into the place and ordered 4 pieces of granola bar that costs $3.50 and 1 large coffee (with a shot of expression) that is costs extra money....The prices are totally good and affordable for a homemade quality food & coffee...The girl behind the counter seemed new and kind of distraught of how to perform her job and how much items cost on the menu ( I was totally understanding and was very patient because we've all been there) Now tell me how in the world did they charge me $20.25 for the whole order!!! 4 pieces of granola come out to be $14.....HOW in the world does my coffee cost $6.25?????? It's just regular coffee that cost maybe tops $3 and some extra cents for a shot of expresso added to it!!! I went back inside few seconds after leaving the shop and spoke to the owner!
