Moving day can be stressful and not having a well planned estimate will cause issues…read more We were quoted $1,300 - $1500 for two men and a half day. We were asked to send pictures of all our items so they can fine-tune the estimate and make sure they are properly prepared to meet the customers' needs. We followed their request and sent pictures of EVERY item to be moved. Subsequent to sending the pictures the estimator said that after reviewing the photos he would like to add an additional man and increase the time based on his review of the photos. Their proposal was increased slightly ($1,500 - $1,700) (we had no issues with the request), and we awaited their arrival on moving day. Moving day came the workers on the truck were very nice. However mid-way through moving things went south fast. The workers broke an expensive glass bar cart and called to inform their home office. The original estimator then called to say we had more stuff than anticipated and the truck was full. The stuff was exactly what was in the one dozen photos sent two weeks prior to the move. These photos contained all the furniture and all of boxes that we had packed for the move. He then proceeded to state that we "didn't inform them there were boxes to move" (a complete lie). We calmly said two of the pictures sent to you (which the workers on site actually had on their cell phones) have a stack of boxes in the family room and another from the garage. He said well, "people move their boxes themselves sometimes'". Our response was simply questioning why we would have sent the pictures, at their request, if we intended to move them on our own. After arriving at 11:05 and deciding they were done at 5:30 sharp, the movers left over 20% of the remaining contents. They said they needed to move what they have in the truck and "they would come back the next day", but we would be getting another quote for the remaining move. When I questioned the additional quote the gentleman from the home office then revised it talk track to say he would not be able to insure he could come back tomorrow (Saturday, knowing the house was being sold) and stated and he would do it in 3 days (past the date of the house being sold) but the quote had to be signed to get on a possible schedule. He carried on saying "couldn't disrupt his clients already on tomorrows schedule". I guess its OK to disrupt a client by leaving 20% of the job behind. His quote for completing the move arrived the next day and the move would now be almost double the original price! Needless to say we quickly found an honest and reputable company for less than 1/2 of the additional quote from Two Movers. Two days later they sent a final bill for $800.00 more than his revised estimate, bringing the total moving cost to more than twice their original estimated when added to the additional mover we had to hire. We informed them of their error in number of hours billed, and reminded them they didn't complete the job, and that they broke the bar cart. Their response was that the bar cart isn't covered as they were not specifically informed of it in the move list, but they would give me $50.00 for it even though it was included in the pictures we had sent which prompted them to increase the original estimate. They said any items not specifically "written" on the contact were not their liability! The reality is they received pictures of all the items being moved, they double checked those photos well enough to increase the estimate to include an additional man. While we hope for a fair resolution that accurately accounts for actual hours worked and the damage to the property they caused, we have so far not heard back from them revising their billing or received any apology for the distasteful experience Update : The owner called apologized for the stress and miscommunications and we settled on a fair amount for the work they did The owner was very nice and concerned about our experience and perception of his office staff because it's not what the majority of his customers experience according to him My advice ask a lot of questions and list as many of your bigger or more expensive/delicate items upfront so you can openly discuss how they will be handled. Ask about travel timing billing and supplemental insurance for your property

ABSOLUTELY AVOID…read more Kareem--"The Spin Doctor" as another review called him--is a menace. I figured that one bad review was just a result of someone having a bad day. Not sure if Kareem or the customer, but someone. It seemed to be an outlier. Surely with 4+ star rating means I'll get a decent experience. Kareem was my primary contact and who I arranged the move with. I sent videos ahead of time to show the job to be done. Kareem did not ask questions. I got a quote and decided to see what I can get done on my own with family to save money. Economy sucks, yadda, yadda. I came back and explained how we did some ourselves and there's less work to do now. I explained what was left. Kareem did not ask questions. I then asked for an hourly rate. I was given one, and we both agreed on the job. I paid the deposit. A few days later, the movers arrive (Kareem absent), and they were not informed at all of what the job was today. They also kept making comments about me being "on a budget" or something and being shocked when I explained the scope of the move. I felt Kareem fed them some nonsense instead of details about the actual job. The movers were fine, but their leader wasn't. 2 hours into the job, Kareem calls me and accuses me of trying to pull a fast one by going hourly (why offer hourly rates and accept hourly jobs if it's an issue?), misleading him about the job (how??), and saying men could walk off the job with my actions. What did I do? Was it that I sent videos and a description of the move? Was it that I agreed to the rate and crew he presented me? What could I have done worth men driving the crew to walk off the job? The entire call was very aggressive and backhanded. Absolutely asinine. Thankfully, Kareem didn't feed them enough nonsense for them to actually walk off, and so they completed the job... mostly. It was scaled back because Kareem apparently REALLY didn't want it all done. Maybe because he didn't send enough manpower despite knowing the job. At the end of the move, Kareem told the movers to collect payment. Now, this is completely reasonable. What's not reasonable is me not knowing the exact amount until minutes before yet being expected to have that money exactly on hand, and giving me an invoice from day 1 (updated at the end of move, via email) that has a due date in the future. I talk to Kareem again, and he says he needs payment immediately. Again, would be fair, if all signs didn't point elsewhere. I said the invoice gives a future date, and he blamed ME for it, saying I should have corrected him and he'd have fixed the invoice. I can't read his mind. I didn't know he made a mistake. I said I will pay, but I don't have the cash on me at this exact moment, and explain why as described above. He immediately gives me the shake down and jumps to aggression again, accusing me of playing games, etc... He skips actually trying to resolve the issue and instead threatens to call the cops. I offer to get the money from the bank immediately, but somehow he's still arguing with me about that. Apparently immediate payment isn't even good enough now. And he's going to have the movers follow me to the bank. What is this? Is knowing where I live not good enough that you need to aggressively "escort" me to the bank? Thankfully, The Spin Doctor backed off when he got his money. The crew themselves were mostly fine (if not a bit slow checking their phones at times--almost assuredly because of Kareem's failures in communication, or worse, Kareem harassing the crew?) and one item being damaged/broken. Again, avoid at all costs. I hope the men actually doing the work get a better gig because Kareem has no business managing workers or handling customers and his presence alone is good enough to write off the company. His communication skills are beyond abysmal and he went out of his way to insult me. It's a shame he's the owner. If my things weren't already on their truck by the time he called me the first time, I would've canceled and got someone else. Avoid yourself the frustration of dealing with The Spin Doctor and look elsewhere. ========== EDIT: Got a reply from Kareem. I can't address it all else I hit the character limit but here are the biggest parts: - Trying to save money is not a "red flag." - Kareem was shown the job ahead of time, and agreed to take it. - Yet his crew came unprepared and somehow it's my fault they were undermanned and had no gloves??? - I'm not obligated to tip or cater and I never agreed to (compensate your crew! I already paid!), but maybe I'd have tipped if Kareem didn't harass me, threaten to call the cops, change terms of payment, or the crew didn't break our things. Remember to listen the bad reviews. It's easy to leave a good review, but when you want to get it over with an forget about it, it's not tempting to take the time to explain your bad experience. If there's a few really bad reviews, chances are, there's a lot of bad experiences. ==========

The Claims department has not responded to my emails for 13 days. Various other members of the company keep apologizing, but nothing gets done. Here is the list I sent to Claims back on February 24th, when they essentially ghosted me: * Two glass lamp shades - broken beyond repair and need to be replaced * Both bar cart glass surfaces - one shattered and one scratched, both need to be custom cut and replaced * An irreplacable antique desk - need a custom woodworker to fix the parts that were knocked off, and one part of the desk that would need reattaching is missing * Antique wood coffee table - inner wood broken all the way through, not only bad for the desk but very dangerous for our child * Child's lampshade - not expensive, but super bummer * Queen-size bed headboard - broken * Queen-size bed frame overall - shudders every time we lay on it; will need to be completely replaced; was completely solid and sound before the move * Six or so plants stacked on top of one another in a box - plants all broken and dying * Decorative vase - top broken * Night stand drawer handle - pulled off completely * Shelf in cedar chest - broken * Missing parts from 3 metal baby gates - baby gates will need to be replaced completely because they don't work without these parts (this has been a BIG problem for the safety of my child) * Bracelet - broken and needs replacing * Metal baseball bat - dented beyond use * Broken crystal - expensive, not fixable * Massive gouges in newly painted walls - need to be compensated so we can get painters and maybe another worker back in to fix the extremely large dents all up and down our hallways * Mud tracked through departure house, midpoint house and new house carpets - would love to be compensated so we can get a cleaner in * Fully packed boxes as well as lots of hanging items and some things in drawers left back the old house, which was a huge hassle; we would like to be compensated for our time and effort having to deal with another moving round we had to do on our own after we paid you to move our items and it wasn't completed; I spoke to Rob and he offered to have them come back and get it, but, frankly, I didn't trust the company enough to not break more thinks, so then he offered us $250, which I found insanely low and shocking given how terrible our experience with College Hunks has been. I grudgingly accepted it but it has yet to be sent over. I would like to be compensated an additional amount, given the circumstances and neglectful service we received from College Hunks. * They also threw our toothbrushes in, unwrapped, with a USED TOILET BRUSH. Absolutely disgusting. There were also many boxes where they just threw things in wet and unpacked, and so everything was slimy those boxes and had to be washed or thrown away. This is thousands of dollars of damages. To add insult to injury, we were also quoted nearly $3000 less than we ended up paying. Mike was fabulous and Lewin and Cam were also excellent. The other guys were also really nice. I don't blame them, but rather the company itself, which clearly has an issue with training and takes no accountability. Avoid this company at all costs. An update on March 4th: They have offered $650 for destroying literally thousands of dollars of our property, with no itemization of how they arrived at that figure, "as a gesture of goodwill." ETA: I have now learned that there is literally no way to get in touch with the Danbury location directly. The number listed on their website and social media presence is a call center, as confirmed by the call center itself, and there is no other way to contact corporate, either. The Claims department is supposedly a part of the franchise, but the Danbury people I've spoken with say it's through "corporate," which I have no way of reaching. This is bureaucracy at its most Kafkaesque, or else it's an actual grift.

Also a hole in wall, which they repaired soon after. Most concerning was what happened the morning of the move. It has taken me a whole year to write this review as the pain and suffering caused by Expert Movers…read moreand Storage is still not something I have emotionally gotten over. I was also waiting for insurance to settle for all the broken pieces of furniture, which just happened. Part 1: The Piano It seems silly to feel so emotionally attached to a piano, but I am a classical pianist and I had spent years finding the piano of my literal dreams. It was (yes, "was") a limited 100th year, special edition Steinway upright piano. It was in perfect condition and had been moved only once in it's life. It's value was, essentially, priceless. We interviewed a lot of moving companies and explained we had a piano that needed moving down one flight of stairs. Most companies said they couldn't do it or we didn't feel comfortable enough hiring them. We were assured, time and time again, that Expert Movers and Storage knew what they were doing and that they "did this all the time". They did not. The piano was slid on it's side, on cardboard, down the stairs. The movers, despite being told not to do this, also grabbed the legs of the piano and viciously ripped it off the piano. In doing so, the people behind the piano almost fell backwards and killed themselves but my husband noticed last second what was going on and jumped in to grab the piano. I was mortified. Part 2: Integrity + Fraud We had signed a $50,000 insurance coverage document to cover a fraction of the repair of the piano (usually around $80,000 to repair, if totaled) in the very off-chance the piano was scratched or dinged. (I genuinely didn't even consider the option of them totaling the piano) During the move, quite a few of our very expensive furniture items were broken, scratched, or dinged. Basically, the items survived the move if we packed the box, otherwise anything packed or wrapped by them got damaged. During the unload, the piano leg was nowhere to be found. The owner, Leo, told us we were lying about missing the leg and/or that the leg was "hiding" in a box. (It wasn't) There was also one of our child's wooden toy storage boxes unloaded that had fast food bags shoved in it and was, disgustingly, filled with thousands of maggots. The box had to be thrown away. He had every single one of the movers that did the load-on talk to us and they told us they were sure the piano leg was on the truck when it left our house. We agreed! Yet, somehow, during the travel from CT to TN, the leg was lost. The owner offered to have "one of his guys" make a new leg for our piano. While this was nice, it just isn't an option for a piano of this caliber. It has to be sent off to Steinway in NYC for a full repair. Leo also told us he would fix the piano out of pocket without getting insurance involved... until we told him what the quote was from Steinway to repair it. We then, obviously, had to file an insurance claim (against Leo's wishes). Between dented and shattered tables, broken tvs, dented dressers, countless other broken things, and a now-totaled piano, the value of the insurance claim was well over the 50k in coverage, but we were going to take it like champs, not complain once, and eat the difference. Leo then sent us a "digitally signed" copy of our coverage. It was "signed" by my husband for $25,000 in insurance coverage. Unfortunately it was a forged document (I booked the move in my name, not my husbands) and not even signed the way my husband signs his name. We were confused. A look at the pdf creation date stated it was for the day we requested it. My husband had not "signed" a digital document that day with the back-date of our move. We decided not to pursue legal action, but did report them and the fraudulent document to their insurance company. The insurance company came to the same conclusion as us and gave us the $50,000 in coverage. Part 3: Conclusion We got a check from the insurance company. I wish I could say "all is well" but it is not. I am emotionally destroyed. Our various near-mint vintage items are now damaged, the piano is still totaled and will likely never be repaired, our TV no longer works right, and we have been trying to replace what we could replace with the money from insurance... but most of our stuff is irreplaceable. Overall, going with Expert Movers and Storage was the single biggest mistake and regret of my life. I will cry over my Steinway piano for a very long time. It would have been passed down to my children but instead will likely be hauled away for firewood as we cannot pay the difference to get it repaired.
