I used Smooth Move for a local move in Jan 2024, downsizing from a house to an apartment in Stamford, and prior to that, had them do an "in-house" move to bring furniture (that I had to get rid of) down to the first floor of the house. Both times Patrick was the lead of the crew. He was competent, polite, efficient, communicated well, and an overall great guy. Every one of the move crew was equally polite and friendly and all were careful with my furniture and boxes. They worked fast, wrapping everything securely to protect from weather, breakage, and dirt. In the apartment Patrick was extremely patient, repositioning carpets and furniture until they were to my liking. I had a few communication glitches with Steve in the office but nothing that caused a major problem. I'd suggest any phone conversation be followed up with an email to prevent being told later that something promised by phone was not accurate. One small table broke during the move and the insurance claim was quickly processed and I received a check less than a month later. I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again. read more

Movers were not careful and broke several things, damaged an outlet cover at the old apartment and lost an important power cord that went with a baby swing. Tipped over 20% and did not get a thank you, despite giving it to the team lead via Zelle. The good reviews for SM are for moving basic things or office stuff. If you have a nice home- go someplace else! This company is good if you are moving something simple from point A to point B, but they don't know how to handle nice furniture. They broke or ripped my entire living room set, and were not responsive on making restitution until I complained that a month had passed. I went back and read all the rave reviews and they are mostly for small jobs. So I guess they are good for a small job like an apartment, but not a house. read more

Highly recommend! SM&D were extremely easy and efficient to coordinate my move with. I was able to provide pictures of the rooms to be moved and received an extremely reasonable quote (relative to other local CT and NY-based movers). The crew was courteous, helpful, and hard working! On packing day they pushed through packing all of our stuff in less time than estimated (meaning lower cost to me). On moving day they brought a large enough crew to pack my entire house in just a couple of hours (including wrapping and disassembling furniture), and moved us into the new house as quickly! They got the job done, but be aware the initial quotes they give you are only "estimates" and they charge by the hour. They also did not send the right number of men to our job, resulting in a less efficient workforce. Smooth Move and delivery company arrived on time. The men individually shook my hand, told me their name and began their work. They worked continuously stopping at noon for lunch and resume their job 30 minutes later. My furniture and valuables were wrapped securely and box with plenty of padding. On day two they returned on time delivered my belongings to my new condo and began unloading the truck. A lot of boxes were marked fragile with a room number assigned to them. My one suggestion to the company would be if all little more information could have been on the outside of the box such as HP printer, or sewing machine inside. Evan and his team recently moved my husband and myself from Stamford to the D.C. Metro Area. The move was smooth and successful. The guys showed up on time and were friendly, professional and careful. They wrapped the furniture, loaded it on the truck, and we were soon off to my new home, a 4th floor walk up that would test even the most seasoned movers. Especially in torrential rain (the forecast called for "scattered showers", go figure.) Yet the guys remained cheerful, calm, professional and determined, throughout. Everything arrived safely, within the estimated time window, and the guys were more helpful then anticipated - even offering to remove a closet door to accommodate an especially big storage bin. Evan and his team at SM&D gave us the best moving experience that we possibly could have hoped for. Our landlord decided to sell our unit on short notice so we were really in a time crunch. I set an appointment for Evan to come survey our things and give us a quote. Unfortunately, a snow storm hit the day of our appointment. I told Evan to stay safe and that I would totally understand if we had to reschedule. But Evan did not let snow stand in his way and showed his commitment to the highest quality customer service by honoring our appointment. Over the next couple weeks, Evan was always available and communicative whenever we needed his assistance with things like purchasing boxes/packing materials and various prep for the move. The day of the move, Eric led a crew of four movers who were incredibly prepared, efficient, considerate, communicative, and helpful in all ways. We did not have a single belonging wind up damaged or missing. Just like Evan, Eric and the rest of the movers were very committed and consistently showed that they always had our satisfaction in mind. We were astonished that they completed the move in 5.5 hours (including a partial pack) with no sense of rushing what so ever.
