A 5-man team from O'Neill and Sons Moving and Delivery recently packed and moved a good deal of our household possessions to a nearby storage facility. Patti (owner) and Walter, Slim & OG were fantastic! Patti called me right away to confirm receipt and schedule delivery. They were able to receive our (very large) designer sectional sofa and deliver it with ease down our steep driveway. The team quickly problem solved how to get it into the house (no easy feat) and made sure to protect the furniture and our house each step of the way. They confirmed how I wanted it positioned, were polite and courteous and made quick work of the delivery. They made it look like a breeze and it really was a challenging delivery. I got an estimate and then paid double because they sent inexperienced movers who took 2 hours to just put together bed frames.The movers couldn't get my grandfather clock set up properly and told me someone would call me the next day. That never happened and I had to call the company twice before getting a call back. I then complained about the time it took for the move and was told by the owner she would talk to the movers and get back to me. That never happened. I was extremely disappointed with the service and would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

After a very positive experience with this company a few years ago, I hired them a second time recently when the need arose again, in spite of them having given me a higher quote than another local company. This time around, virtually every aspect of the move had serious problems--from packing day, to moving day, to the weeks after the move. The guys who did the packing were careless in every regard: they took my desk drawers and dumped them upside down into boxes, including carefully organized folders of paperwork. A closet of silk neck ties was dumped into boxes and I found them in twisted, knotted balls like strings of Christmas lights. Lampshades were put in the bottom of boxes, and then stuff was crammed in on top, crushing the lamp shades. Countless pictures frames were broken because they simply were not wrapped, but just tossed into boxes. Many boxes were completely mislabeled, or not labeled at all. More of the ones that were labeled were put in the wrong place than in the right one. I spent weeks relocating things. They took apart a grandfather clock that I have had since 1986 and was still working the morning of packing. When they put it back together (sort of), they put the chains for the weights back in backwards, and the clock has not worked since. Every single stick of furniture, every picture, virtually everything was labeled indicating where it was to go in the new house. By and large, these labels were totally ignored. The movers refused to follow any directions whatsoever. The first night in the new home, I could not find any of the contents of my master bedroom. It took days before I found them in unlabeled boxes on the bottom of a pile in the basement. The LOST my printer and the wooden stand it was on in my office, a box of paper that I packed myself and labeled "Important," and my framed professional credentials from my wall. The owner, Patti, has refused to accept any responsibility for this whatsoever, even after coming here herself to look for the items. In fact, she has made zero real good faith effort to make to make right any of the things that went wrong. In large part, she has turned every thing into my fault, blaming me for not moving things that were important by myself. They broke the wooden frame of a brand new leather couch with side recliners. They broke two of four glass shelves from a wooden curio cabinet in my office. While this is one of the few things Patti promised to replace for me, she did not. It's been six weeks since my move now, and there has been no actual follow-thru. Last week, I emailed her a very reasonable settlement proposal, which she refused. When she missed a third promised day to deliver the glass shelves yesterday, I emailed her again--no reply. Immediately after my reviews went live, and filing a complaint with the BBB, Patti wrote a check and sent a driver to my home with it, along with the glass shelves, which they left on my front porch in my absence. It's just too bad it took so much effort on my part to encourage her to do the right thing. read more

They showed up with masks and gloves - they are careful about Covid. They were quick and efficient. Yes the estimate didn't match the amount we paid but it says right on the estimate if the scope of work changes so does the price. I was more than pleased to pay a bit extra! These guys weren't on yelp, so I added them. And, now I know why! I used O'Neill and Sons to pack and move .8 miles (yes, less than a mile) and this is my review since I've finally unpacked and seen the result. I'll start with the pros: - the movers were very nice and courteous. - they showed up on time to pack and the packing went fast. - they used my felt floor protectors and added them to a lot of the furniture to protect the floors in the new place. the cons: - the big con: they overcharged us by $250. when I asked about it, they got very defensive and said I was "nickel and diming" them. I don't know what world they are living in, but for my pocket $250 is a significant amount. chris o'neill was so defensive and argumentative, I felt bullied and extremely uncomfortable. - the overcharge came from adding an additional 1/2 hour to the pack, and 1/2 hour to the move. they completely rounded up and decided to charge us for "prepping" their vehicles. that's the price of being in the moving business - you prep your vehicles and I don't pay for it. - they charged us for wardrobe boxes that were ours, they just assembled them (we had them from our last move). when questioned, they said they would refund the money, but we haven't seen that and it's been weeks. - the amount charged was over TWICE the written estimate. TWICE! - they showed up to pack and the packing went fast and well. while they knew I had a small baby, they took it upon themselves to smoke in our driveway before the pack, I let it go, but ended up packing the master bedroom myself and shutting the doors since the smell on the movers was so intense. (too cold to open the windows) - fragile items were on the bottom of the the piles of boxes. they were clearly marked fragile. - we found the following packed in our boxes: a 3ft box with 3 small pillows in it. a box with some framed art, nicely wrapped, but packed with a moving blanket (why??) and 3 empty rolls of used packing tape that they were using to pack (what???), and several items that were wrapped in an obscene amount of packing paper. - it was obvious they were trying to use more supplies than needed for the move in order to charge us more. as reference: we've moved several times in the tri state area, across the country, and up and down the east coast. this move was only $800 less than moving across the country. INSANE AND UNFAIR! go elsewhere!! read more

We just used O'Neill and Sons for our move, and things did not end well. I never write reviews, but I am so disappointed by them and their behavior... I wish someone had warned me. So hopefully this helps you! They gave us an estimate of $2000. They showed up an hour late, with the inadequate number of men and trucks. It was so bad that at the end of the day, they had to pull another crew to come and help finish the job. At the end of the process, they tried to stick me with a bill for $5500!! The bill had the wrong start times/end times, and we were also charged for the second crew waiting around. That was just the basic rip off, flat out counting wrong and over billing us for hours that didn't exist! But the real problem is that they were not willing to assume any of their responsibilities addressing why the process took that much longer given their mistakes and why they were so far off the estimate! I ended up compromising and paying them around $4200 and I regret every cent of it. Do not go there - they are dishonest. Moving is traumatic, you don't need someone to take advantage of you during that process. read more

We used this company for a long distance move last summer. They came with the wrong truck and had to switch our belongings to a bigger truck. In the process, they stole some of our items and did not returned them back to us (brand new aluminium ladder, folding tables, garden tools.... They also.claim they have insurance but we never received a check for what they broke such as furniture, pictures... They charge by the hour and do not inventory your items so be very carreful.However, they came on time and the crew is hard working and nice. Do not use them! read more

Oneil and sons moved my daughters to NYC form CT. It was a five flight walk-up. You can imagine how difficult it was in 90 degree heat. They were all so friendly and hard workers. After they moved my daughters they dropped off a rug to my other daughter and another five flight walk-up. I would only use these movers and patti is great. You will not be dissapointed. My wife and I moved from Westchester County, NY to Fairfield and used O'Neill and Sons. We had a great experience with them. They arrived on time in NY and got right to work. The 3 men were very friendly and courteous. They moved the upstairs first so we were able to finish cleaning the upstairs as they packed and moved the downstairs. Pictures, mirrors, etc were all handled with care, wrapped for protection and moved and arrived intact. All Mattresses and Furniture was wrapped and kept clean and protected. We moved into a small cape and it was a tight space for moving. They worked very hard to get everything into the house. The bedroom set was quite large and while it was difficult, they got everything upstairs and in place. We had a great move with them and would recommend them. read more

A Happy Story :) I selected O'Neill & Sons to do a large complicated move. I try to hire companies where the employees aren't contractors - but rather people invested in/connected to the business. After interviewing 3 companies O'Neill seemed like a good fit. O'Neill came out a few days before the move, color coded things to indicate what goes where, and pre-packed many items working diligently with a small efficient team. Then on moving day they brought a big crew to get everything else packed up and into the trucks correctly in what turned out to be a pretty complicated operation to make sure hundreds of items got into the correct of 3 moving trucks heading to different locations. There were at one point probably a dozen O'Neill folks on-site packing & moving things including the owners, their family members and their kind trustworthy employees -- all working together beautifully as a team. It was impressive to see the energy and care of the owners during this big project -- they worked side-by-side with their employees -- great teamwork and it motivated everyone during a complicated move. I felt comfortable with and supported by the whole O'Neill team. Even when the move was over, O'Neill continued to attend to every need, arranging cleaning service, delivering donations to charities, disposing trash left behind after the move, and ensuring a myriad of small ancillary items going to friends or storage were handled safely and cost-efficiently. I'd forgotten how stressful and overwhelming moving can be, but this big move was a happy experience because of the energy and skill these good people brought. I'm really happy I selected them - will use them again - and recommend them highly to others. read more

Everything went smoothly with our move, from the packing to loading and unloading. We had a difficult house to move furniture into considering the tight stairwell, and the O'Neill movers were total pros. Went above and beyond. I used O'Neill and Sons this past weekend for a local move. A friend had recommended them and I am so glad I went with O'Neill. The three men were right on time early Saturday morning to load the truck and we were over to my new apartment by 11 am, as I recall. They were all done before 1:30 pm. They placed all my furniture exactly where I requested and made sure my electric adjustable bed was working properly. They took care to place my marked boxes in the correct room, making my unpacking so much easier. The movers were personable and relieved my anxiety. I have worked with Chris and Patti O'Neill for two years, with several deliveries to and from Florida and Connecticut. They show up on time, they take care of items. They sliced open tape on boxes I had packed so I could open them more easily. They used padded blankets to move antiques. Only once was an antique table foot damaged, very slightly. It was fixed and they paid to fix it promptly. You do need to ask for the inventory, and it you have a lot of boxes that you marked they will use your number and then theirs on the list so you know exactly what is what. They even came back to the house in CT when I added a walker for my husband: they had already picked up the other belongings a week earlier. It was a nice thing to do. read more
