I was fairly impressed from the outset; my realtor had suggested two moving companies and the first made me less than comfortable and I moved on to the second. My calls to Marie's were always returned promptly and politely. Questions were answered and everything they said they would do was done. Moving day went relatively smoothly, even given the fact that there were ten men doing the move out of my house and only one less at the new place (which is smaller and required "finding" space to put things toward the end). People introduced themselves at the beginning of the day and were respectful and helpful throughout. I thought the pricing was reasonable and I was able to "donate" some larger pieces of furniture that I'd not been able to decide about till the bitter end -- too late for me to dispose of them easily, yet too big to fit into the new place. I felt the additional charges involved for that were nominal and I hope the items were deemed worthy of donation so that someone could make use of them. All in all, I am more than satisfied. I hadn't moved in twenty years and, prior to this move, I'd been in a smaller house for twenty-five years. I had acquired a lot in the interim and, as a result, had spent many weeks packing, donating and disposing before the actual move took place. I did have Marie's pack the kitchen and, whether I'd done the packing or they had, nothing at all was broken or damaged. Despite their name, Marie's is not a woman-owned business; but, it is run essentially by family members. I suggest you hire them!! read more

Marie's Movers: These folks are absolutely incredible! As good as it could possibly get, their service can only be described as absolutely the best. It has taken me a while to get around to writing this review because I have been so busy since the move was completed, and I wanted to take time and give it my best effort. They certainly gave me theirs! The move required numerous conversations on the phone with me, to review emailed pictures of furniture and items existing in my sister's vacant home in Connecticut to be moved here to Indiana. They were friendly, they were helpful, no matter to whom I talked, each one contributed advice, explanations, and assurances as to how the project could be completed. I found myself feeling more and more confident that I had found the right movers, so much so that I no longer felt it would be necessary for me to go to Connecticut to supervise the move! I was right. And, not one single thing arrived in Indiana damaged! They make wrapping and packing an art. It was amazing! Many items were antique glass, family heirlooms, cherished pieces. They took exceptional care filling cartons; glass lamps arrived in perfect shape. The schedule was kept, the delivery man was courteous, careful, helpful, friendly and arrived as expected, on time. They kept me informed all the way at every step. Their cost estimating was quick, competitive and accurate. I heartily recommend Marie's Movers. Best moving experience I ever had! I was in a bind and was going to use Clancy's in Newtown for my move of 1 mile, for which they quoted me $800. It was 7 large pieces of furniture and some smaller stuff, totaling 11 items that had to be moved. I was ready to go with Clancy's when a friend suggested Marie's Moving, which I didn't know anything about. I visited there location where the two ladies who were there welcomed me and said they'd be glad to help. They said it would be $95 an hour with two men and a one truck. The truck showed up exactly when they said it would be there and Jim Anctil (the owner) and a young associate. They wrapped all the furniture, brought it to my place, unwrapped the items, assembled my queen bed and accomplished it all in about 2 and 1/2 hours. The total I paid was $261 (vs $800 for Clancy's). I have moved about 8 times and this was the smoothest, most professional move I ever experienced. We moved recently, as many people do, but our move was somewhat unique. We had decided to move to a different place that we eventually moved to where we are now. A fire occurred at our original move, making us change plans. Marie's Movers worked with us as to possibly put our furniture in storage, but almost at the last minute we found a place to move into, and Marie's Movers adjusted all the plans. They have been great to deal with. On moving day, they sent a great crew of young people who worked especially hard, never seeming to be tired and always while working hard, could not have been more easy to deal with, as we changed where certain pieces of furniture would be going. The crew leader, Chris and the entire crew were simply great. The young women who set up the move, were delightful to deal with and were very aware of our unique situation. Marie's Movers is an excellent company! The level of integrity and professionalism start with your first phone call. It is not the "norm" to have a Retail Store in this industry, so this is one more point in their favor! I moved the first week in November and I could not ASK for a better experience. My crew was professional at all times. Initially it was booked as a two person job, but it ended up being a 3 crew job. Yes, more money, but they moved much more quickly, so the bill came to less! If you do not give Marie's no cost, no obligation estimate a chance, you are a fool. This company is staffed with knowledgeable, professional, polite, respectful movers. Moving, no matter the reason, can be overwhelming. That is what happened with a friend of mine. It wasn't until we happened upon Suzanne, a most professional and helpful person at Marie's Movers. As soon as Suzanne greeted us, I knew my friend was in good hands. She treated us as if we were long lost friends who were reuniting. Highly recommend! I have used Marie's Movers in Southbury, CT for three moves over the course of the last two years, two within the last few months. Two moves were within CT, one was over the boarder into Massachusetts. The company communicated very well the costs involved, called in advance of the date and morning of, providing good communication as to when the the moving truck was on the way so we would have an idea of an arrival time. The movers who arrived were patient in scoping out what was to be moved, describing what they would be doing to move the furniture safely and working at a pace that was careful but mindful of the time we would be charged. In all instances our furniture arrived safely with no damage. The cost was reasonable and worth every penny for the type of service and expert moving that was performed. A family member was recently moving into an assisted living facility and we hired Marie's Movers to move her furniture, personal items, etc. I found Alice to be courteous, professional and upfront as to what the fees will be, the time frame, etc. The three individuals (Michael, Anthony and Katie) that came to make this move were friendly and respectful to us, but especially to our elderly cousin. As you can imagine, it was a very stressful situation. They we efficient in packing the truck and were very care to wrap everything to insure a safe trip. Jim and his team did a full pack up and move of our home from Virginia to Maine. This was the first time we ever had professional movers move us. Jim and his team were AWESOME. They were professional, thorough, polite and took great care of all our belongings. I fully expected there to be some issue, some damage, something lost but nothing like that happened. I couldn't have packed as well myself (and I am super uptight about how I pack). We had to make changes to the schedule then arrange to store our stuff and everything was "no problem, we can do that". I found this company on Yelp, when I needed help in Litchfield. All the 5-star reviews are spot on! The office is extremely organized and professional. Peter and his crew were friendly and careful, and worked together as a real team to move a monstrous 8 foot long, 400lb wine cabinet from my garage, around back and under a low deck to my walk-in basement. They uncrated, moved then unwrapped and lifted the unit onto a platform, then made sure it was correctly positioned and aligned. It was painstaking and arduous work, but they were cheerful and positive the whole way. Not a scratch on the unit... these guys are total pros. Highly recommended! read more

I found Marie's Movers to be top notch from beginning to end. They were easy to work with, even as I made some changes along the way. They work with some non profit NGOs that take donations of furniture and took one item of mine to a donation center as part of the move. This was a big plus. My furniture was in fine shape and unloading, the crew was so helpful and patient as I decided where to place furniture. I would highly recommend this company. They were able to accommodate a summer move on short notice. The crew assigned to my move (Dustin, Al, and Nick) were energetic, careful and focused on customer satisfaction.
