I needed more than a man with a van but didn't want to spend a ton on full white glove movers…read more Called Jay, (found on Craigslist so no personal recommendation) told him I had a 10x10x10 storage locker filled with household worth of stuff to move into my newly renovated home. He quoted me $105/ hr for 17' truck & 2 guys. tie downs & hand-truck included of course. $50 optional insurance covered $7500 of goods James & Joe arrived promptly at the agreed time with a clean truck and got straight to work. They didn't pause for a minute even though it took 4 hours to load and when I brought them some drinks & food they still didn't stop. Both James & Joe were excellent communicators, between each other organizing the truck, and with my son, bf & me as we were 'helping'. There are myriad other positives about the move, like how my pristine freshly painted walls and still wet door frames were kept in perfect condition and how James was still smiling in 88° sun after 5 hours. I'd like to acknowledge how chill and flexible Jay was during my last minute booking. I committed by phone, he sent a deposit invoice by email, but I got cold feet after reading some unfavorable reviews here on yelp. I normally hang out on google, not here, so I hadn't seen them earlier. I called Jay back to express my hesitation and give him a chance to address and he was a total pro. Put my fears to rest & made good on all promises. For the record, I paid AFTER everything was unloaded. Dunno what those folks are talking about stuff being held hostage. No such thing, only smooth sailing. To be filed under: A+ service

This business is very unprofessional! The movers did not arrive on the days they were scheduled to…read morearrive, nor did the owner contact me to let me know they would arrive. When the did arrive, as others stated, they were late. On the initial move date, a couple of hours had passed but I DIDN'T hear anything from the owner. I reach out to him to find out what was going on, he then told me that the movers were still moving another client and would not be able to move me that day. When the mover finally loaded my furniture on the truck, drove to my new location, they refused to unload the truck UNTIL I paid the fee in full; alrhough the job wasn't completed. I reminded the movers that I was working remotely and found the request quite an inconvenience. I had to STOP working, address something that should have been mentioned prior to moving day. Yes, they do hold your property hostage for full payment of a job that has not been completed. One of the movers called the owner to tell him about my response and I hear him say, "she's just a female who wants to complain I told the owner that his unprofessionalism, and nasty disposition towards his customers, created the situation. His snarky comment was, "I did you a favor by agreeing to move your property". I told him that he "DIDN'T" do any favors for me because I am paying for the poor quality service. The movers DIDN'T load up all of my furniture as promised by the owner, during his initial visit to provide an estimate for the move. Since they received payment, before unloading, they didn't return to move the rest of my furniture. I've read some images of the text message posted to this site and they are very similar in content, to message I received from this business owner also.

We shopped around and compared services with 2 other self-pack and move companies and found U-Pack…read moreto be the most reasonable from a price point perspective. One key difference I noticed is you're able to obtain a price quote for U-Pack online as well as a fairly accurate schedule based on location. This transparency out-shines the other equivalent move companies. We moved from CT to NV and the whole end-to-end process went extremely well. Everything went as scheduled. One thing to note when you pack... be sure you secure everything inside the container as things can shift. Thanks for great service!

Less than a week before my cross-country move, I switched to U-Pack (see my scathing review of PODS…read more- don't use them!). Ultimately our experience with U-Pack was ok, with some great features and others that were not as good. I ended up going with the set-up where you fill a portion of a storage trailer. (There were no cubes available by the time I called them.) When I first made the call, I received great customer service during this very stressful moment. Sure, they want my business, but the agent did a great job being thorough and addressing my concerns. Also, the automated texts throughout the experience were helpful. I appreciate the flexible pricing - based on the amount of trailer you fill - and they could deliver a full week earlier than PODs. Amazing! At the same time, other parts of the experience were not great: - I wish there had been information upfront about the size of locks that were needed to secure the door and the panel inside. I ended up having to buy 4 separate locks as I was attempting to get the size correct. - When we received our items on the CA side, two of our boxes had water damage. One box was so wet, that it was falling apart. The second box, which had less water damage, was an electrical device. Luckily, the electrical device was not damaged, and the seriously wet box only had exercise weights inside. The liquid smelled like water, so I wonder if it was something else that was loaded behind our stuff that made these pieces wet. It could have been a lot worse, but it was certainly upsetting. - The driver who ultimately took the trailer away after the trailer was empty damaged a tree. The city took care of removing the branch, but the incident should have been reported.
