Strong made this the best night ever! The food was great, carrot cake rocked my world, but the service was epic.

My boyfriend and I love this place!! It has a great atmosphere and all of the staff is super nice & friendly. The food is delicious, but the service is even better. We request Chris Strong every time as our waiter and are never disappointed. He is very attentive and even remembered our order after a couple months of not having time to stop by and eat. I have mixed feelings about this place. They're boiled crab legs are super good but unfortunately their crab cakes are terrible. Their tacos are okay and I would really like for their gumbo to have season shrimp instead of just some tossed in bland small shrimp. I also think this place could have better side dishes. The food was outstanding had the king crabs favor the kitchen sink. My saver was Taylor she outstanding.

I wasn't in the mood for shellfish so I selected the catfish basket. The catfish was thin and dry. The fries were soggy. The waitress was great. The service was great. The ambience was great. My companion got sauce up to her elbows when she ate her crab legs, and she is an expert crab picker from childhood on. If gloves or a hand washing machine were available, no one told us. A couple of wet wipes or a hot towel would have made our experience better. I won't be going back. read more

This place is my favorite, it has the best shrimp and crab in the area. All of the food on their menu is good. I usually have the kitchen sink flavor with corns mixed with the sauce, its just perfect!!! Their oysters also are very good and the price is quite reasonable for the quality and the taste you get. If you're a seafood lover; especially crab-legs this is the spot for you! This is a busy busy spot on the weekends, so get their early or expect to wait! It's a bit crowded, which is expected on a weekend night. Even though it was busy, we didn't have to wait to long to sit; around 15-20 mins. We were seated once space became available. It did take a minute for our waitress to come get our drink order (they were busy). I do like that they have their crab-leg menu written on the walls; so if that's what you are coming for you will see it right off. They are a bit on the Pricey side. I got the snow crabs, shrimp, potatoes, and sausage. The food did not take very long to come out; which i like. The Food is served with a bucket to discard your crab leftovers in. They pack sooo much flavor in their seafood! Omg! Every crab leg and shrimp i ate was a burst of flavor. Definitely worth the price! I actually had leftovers! My only complaint is that the service was a bit lacking; had to search for our waitress a few times to get refills. I would visit this spot when I'm in the area. read more

Fun place to put table manners aside and enjoy some seafood! I really had a craving for crawfish, and they cooked it spot on. Our waiter, Victoria, was great as she walked us through the menu since it was our first time there. The atmosphere was great and the bibs were perfect for the mess I was bound to make. Delicious! Service is great and crab is excellent! Kitchen sink seasoning takes it to a new level...addictive . We can't justify eating crab anywhere else as it just doesn't quite compare. Previously I gave this place 4 stars. This visit it was 2 stars. I hadn't been coming lately because I have 2 new favorite places for crab legs because the flavor is better than here although this place will do in a pinch. We came here because they're open late unlike my preferred usual spots - Pinch the Tails and The Boiling Pots. The visit was off to a good start with our waiter, Brandon until the food came out. It. Was. Not. Hot. It was slightly above lukewarm at best. Then I tasted the food. It. Had. No. Flavor. So, I spot what appears to be the manager and sent my other half over to inform him of our disappointment. When she comes back, I was like where is the manager? She says he is sending our waiter. Hold up! You speak to the manager and instead of him coming back to the table to hear both of our concerns he says he's sending the waiter?!?? This was a first! Never, ever has any manager that I've seen not try to improve a patron's experience themselves. Instead you send the waiter?! I know for a fact this isn't protocol because when we've come previously and had the bairdi crab recommended to us and didn't care for the flavor the manager came over. So the manager's response or the lack thereof was beyond disappointing. So anyhoo, Brandon comes over and I proceed to tell him about how the food wasn't hot and it lacked flavor and the spicy kick we asked for. I ordered my bag extra juicy when I should've ordered extra seasoning. He explained extra juicy means more of the base not the seasoning. OK, I know next time when coming here should we return. Then he says they don't keep the base on after they make it early in the day and instead of keeping it in the bag we should pour it out on the tray to keep it hot?! Um no sir. The purpose of keeping it in the bag is to keep it hot to contain the heat that SHOULD be there. When you pour it out, the cold air in the place hits the food thus making it cold. Who wants cold crabs? No one. And you're telling me you put cold liquid over hot food or put hot food in cold liquid?! Who does that?! That makes no sense. He says if the liquid stayed on all day the flavor they want would decrease because it cooks down. The flavor would actually intensify once it cooks down which would be the better thing. So after all that he brings us more seasoning to thicken the juice to make it more pasty. It still lacked flavor so he brought more seasoning. Before he brought the additional seasoning we'd already decided we were disgusted with this visit and would just take our food home to warm up for a piping hot eating experience. Let me not forget to mention that the crab legs were really small also. Normally, I can eat one cluster and feel somewhat satisfied and have leftovers. I ate both clusters in my 1lb bag and still felt unsatisfied because they lacked size meaning they lacked meat. The service was from Brandon was great. The lack of concern from the manager was disheartening. Not sure what his issue was. My partner said he didn't appear too fond of our skin color or the fact we're lesbians. I didn't interact with him so I cannot say one way or the other regarding that. However, the fact he did not come to our table to speak to me after I sent her to him is what I have issues with. Your managerial skills are lacking sir! Overall, my experience this visit left a lot to be desired regarding the food quality and the manager's concern for patrons. read more

Me and my boyfriend have ate here 3 times before and it was always good...until now. We went there last night and ordered takeout since he had his 4 year old who has autism and we knew it would be difficult to eat there, not only for us but also the other patrons and staff. We ordered a pound of snow crab and shrimp uptown style (they shell it for you for $5 each extra) and we also ordered 2 corn and an order of potatoes. We got all the way home (30 minutes 1 way not including the time we sat there waiting for our order) with it only to find we didn't get our corn or potatoes and they hadn't shelled the shrimp. My boyfriend called and all they could offer us is for us to bring the food all the way back to them and then they would try to fix our order. I don't understand after paying $55 for things we didn't get why the burden would fall on us to come all the way back with a small child in tow. Someone really should have tried to make this right seeing how we always spend a lot at this place and really have told other people great things about it. read more

The shell shack has become one of my go to spots whenever I visit Dallas. I ordered a pound of snow crab with the "kitchen sink". My order came out hot and fast and our server was very attentive. He did great job of anticipating our needs and checking up on us regularly. It's a great place to bring a group of friends, or family and there are plenty of options for those who don't eat seafood. If you work in the industry make sure to tell your server so you can get a "dog tag" which allows you to get most spirits, beers, and wine for only $3.50 read more

Favorite shellfish place!!!! I tried the Bairdi crab and although someone told me i might not be able to tell the difference between it and snow crab, i absolutely did. I thought it was very much worth the extra money as it had a sweeter and less fishier taste to me. Its as much $$ as King crab, but worth the price as King is so knotty i get some cuts on my fingers usually. You can pay a few extra dollars tho and have them shell anything for you. I get the sauces on the sides and just dip so its way less messier. read more

She'll shack had some amazing food. The kitchen sink sauce was the best. I've never had such flavor full shrimp. We also enjoyed the Bairdi crab which was a smaller version of king. The sides were amazing and from a food standpoint we really didn't have much to complain about. The service was good, but could've been improved. When you're all finished, they have a habdwashing station that cleans the most notorious of the dirty hands produced. read more

I posted on FB to Shell Shack earlier tonight about my experience hoping they would respond and try to make it right but instead they just deleted my comment from their FB page. This is what I said: Was very excited to come here tonight. But left very disappointed. I ordered oysters that never came. Then after waiting 45 minutes for the food to arrive, when it did, it wasn't what I ordered. I had asked for uptown style (you know that offering on the menu....) and instead was plopped a $30 plastic bag of crab legs in front of me. The server leaves them sitting there in the bag and says, "Oh someone was supposed to tell you the kitchen was backed up so we couldn't do them uptown style for you." I had no silverware, save a cracker and bag of hot crab legs. I poured them into the dish myself (unlike everyone else I had seen served) and did my best. Then I began to look around and see that everyone else had this cool nifty blue, cutter fork thing. One I never got. So I picked my best at my $30 of crab and pretty much gave up disgusted. I also asked for one of the TVs to be turned to the Saturday night Fox baseball game. Someone started that effort but landed on, "a" FOX channel (that had wrestling) and left it at that. I paid our $70 check and left. I posted to them on FB tonight and instead of taking my feedback they just deleted it. I had a friend who raved about this place which made me try it. I'm sure I will post this and talk about this sad experience (including deleting my post) and have many more friends who will never darken the door. Such poor customer satisfaction. read more

Great new seafood spot in Plano! If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, try the seafood boil - you won't regret it! My husband and I shared Dungeness Crab with a side of whole red potatoes and corn on the cob all tossed in a bag with Garlic seasoning. It was amazing!!! Full of flavor and just right amount of heat. Ask for a side of garlic butter - to die for! Aside from the fantastic food, the restaurant has a great casual atmosphere with very friendly wait staff and management. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. We are definitely going back to try the King Crab boil this time with the Kitchen Sink seasoning! read more

DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE !, You've been warned. I ordered for pickup,Upon arrival, my order wasn't ready. No customer service, I wasn't even offered a drink while waiting. I ordered 4 dinners to go, and was charged an extra $2.40 for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce, Aren't condiments always free? I've been to 100s of restaurants and have NEVER paid for condiments, Have You???? Imagine going to a steak restaurant and being charged for steak sauce, GET MY Point! To top it off, the food was subpar, the fries weren't hot and the shrimp & fish weren't seasoned at all, They worst meal i've had in awhile, my family wasn't happy either, sorry wifey and kids, but Dad will make it next time. If you want better seafood, try Half Shells(Legacy Shops) or Flyin Fish or Shuck & Jive, My rating for Shell Shack is 1/2 a star. Oh I should leave out the fact that the manager decided to let a lie roll off his lips and say "this is the way it's served". Whatever Steve I wasn't looking for a free meal - just a good one which I paid for. Thank you to our server Shane for the great service you provided. I suggest you and Steve the manager change positions. Obviously the manager needs to work on his customer service skills and admit when a mistake has been made. My first 2 experiences were really great and I must say the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and efficient, The last time was such a disappointment that I felt compelled to review as I don't want them to lose the great momentum they had when they opened. Kitchen sink is fantastic. I like mine hot or Diablo. Don't sleep on getting broccoli added to the bag of spices. The shrimp and king crab were amazing, seasoned well and tender. The waitress got our order wrong and when they brought our food out they gave us the wrong things... Then the manager was very rude... Never again!!! Absolutely delicious! I love the Plano location but I have to try the Mckinney Ave location soon. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. They stay open late which is great for late night seafood cravings. I don't have anything bad to say about the Shell Shack. Good concept for food. Tray was wet when it arrived. Ordered mild shrimp and it was hotter than the spicy my friend ordered. Never got french fries that we ordered. Had to ask for tea refill.
