I was so hungry I forgot to take any pictures. But my husband had the custom burrito, I had the green creamy chicken and cheese enchiladas that were delicious. Our girls had a Mac and cheese and a burger. The kids Mac and cheese we had to order a second because the first one we got wasn't even half full. I have frequented this restaurant since it opened. The food is good and fairly consistent if you like New Mexican food. They have fresh green and red chile sauces and a host of awesome product. Their chili rellenos is one of the best I have ever had. It is so fresh and crunchy. So whoever has been running the kitchen for years is awesome. However that being said, the service is sometimes excellent and sometimes horrible. They seem to have high waitress turnover. It has gotten so bad lately that I do not believe I will visit this Chuys again. Recently my wife and I visited the restaurant. We walked into the bar where we like to eat so we can watch the sports shows with our meal. When we walked into the bar area around 750 pm. The bar area looked like a disaster. There were only three tables full while most of the rest of the tables were dirty. After looking at the bar, we decided to just eat in the restaurant. We told the hostess that we would like a table for 2. She said that would be 20 minutes. There were all kind of open tables. We said we did not really have the time to wait. She said we could eat in the bar. We told her that the following week I had gone to the bar seating booths on two occasions. And on both of those occasions I could not get waited on. I sat one time for 10 minutes with no greeting and no acknowledgement of my presence whatsoever. I left and went to Mi Cocina. 3 days prior to that the same thing happened again. So after telling the hostess about this we told her we would try sitting directly at the bar. There were two bartenders. The female was making drinks for the restaurant. The mail bartender spent the entire time cleaning out the chip warmer. He did not speak to us period. No one did. So with the bar area in a complete shambles full of dirty tables and two very hungry customers sitting in front of him, he decides the top priority is a clean chip bin. My wife and I just gave up and went to Mi Cocina where we were waited on in 60 seconds and our food delivered in 5 minutes. They were packed and still had great service. It is obvious to me that the Chuys bartender was just trying to get out of there at the expense of his customers. It is also obvious that whoever is in charge of staffing is clueless. Each time we had to leave there were ample tables ; just no servers. Something has changed at this restaurant in the last month and not for the better. I hope you guys get your act cleaned up. This is a neighborhood restaurant for us and we lived in Albuquerque so we love New Mexican chiles. The bar management is terrible and front of the house operations are terrible. Incredible service- our sweet lady took great care of us- The manager was nice as well. We had a gift certificate for dinner for two- so we went to enjoy. She rolled out the red carpet. We ordered the queso, chicken tortilla soup, fajitas and a dessert. Everything was super salty. The food is decent for the price, but the service at this location was lacking this evening. In fairness, I arrived 40 minutes before closing. The hostess team was busy chatting so I told them I'd eat in the bar. The staff was more concerned about closing and watching the basketball game than to take my order. I have been going to this Chuys for over 4 years. Over the last year or 2 they have steadily gotten worst. I am not sure if it is due to the buyout / acquisition or if the staff is indifferent since it is a busy location but the food isn't the same. They have smaller portions, the prices have gone up, the quality isn't as high, and multiple times I have received burnt (or expired?) items. The first time it happened I didn't think much of it since things happen. I would just eat around their mistakes. But now this happens more often than not. The last time I went the food was late, cold and they came out with the check for me to add an extra tip even though I already tipped via their website. I have given them multiple chances this year but I think I am done. If you love Chuy's go to another location. This isn't worth the inconvenience. read more

It has a lovely Pepto pink interior that attempts to distract you from the steady stream of high pitch screams of distraught babies with their exhausted families. Chuy's has always been a favorite for me and I used to drive all the way to the first Dallas location off lemon to enjoy it but thankfully there are many more options around the metroplex making it easier to get the chuy's experience. The dining rooms have always been colorful and with strange art and decorations and thankfully have enough seating and locations where the waits generally aren't as big of a problem as they used to be on your average week night these days. I feel like you get a pretty similar experience no matter which location you choose so likely just pick the one closest to you or your friends. The food itself isn't the best Tex Mex you will find and this trip my enchiladas were a little underwhelming. I normally substitute sauce for queso which now has a $1.50 up charge as well, a first for me that seems a bit excessive and hopefully a trend that doesn't catch on. While the main dish was pretty average, the chips, which are free and you can pair with a delicious creamy jalapeño dip on request, and margaritas did a pretty good job of salvaging the meal. Both I consider above average and likely help save this this visit from a pretty disappointing score. We also had a fantastic waitress (I believe her name was Pam) who was patient with our delayed order, entertaining, and attentive. She also grabbed us a take home cup one of our friends left behind on our way our way out when she spotted us. This was truly a case of great service and the strengths of a meal really saving it from an otherwise middling experience. A 2.5 that could have rounded ether way got pushed up a point and rounded up as a result. Chuy's is a Texas institution that everyone local should really try at some point. Maybe just go with the fajitas or quesadillas over the enchiladas when you do as they don't seem as consistent as they used to be. read more

Came to Chuy's after not having been in Texas for awhile and still enjoy this place after many years! I was eyeballing the cheese enchiladas plate which was like $11 then I saw there was a enchilada and taco platter for $12 that gave you the enchiladas, a crispy taco, 2 flauntas, 2 queso dipped tostadas and rice & beans. Why not get more food for $1! It was good too, I don't usually go for chicken flauntas but they paired well with the salsa. The queso was also really tasty, definitely didn't taste like something just slapped together! I love how light and airy the chips are too! Perfect amount of salt. Our waiter was a little interesting.. sometimes he seemed super happy, others he seemed a little annoyed. He had to be reminded a few times of things we asked for (more salsa, a drink refill, etc) he was also like 17 so like... it happens. All in all it was super tasty! read more

No hello or any response from staff that were clearly present on working on everyone else except for us and another table. One waitress sat at a booth near us never acknowledging us. So we walked to the bar. Then the waitress looked at me and said, we don't serve that booth. The other couple nearby had been there longer but they then figured out they weren't serving their booth either. Great food and service until I was asked by the server to give more money for the tip. To clarify, I gave a tip and he came back to my table and asked for more. What the server did not know was that I came on the budget of a non profit and wanted to treat my team and only had so much to spend. One of our employees gave more to the server. I wish servers were paid more so that they don't have to ask for more money. I am a long-time Chuy's fan since college in Austin (burritos as big as your head), and have enjoyed their steaming hot freshly grilled vegetables underneath the tender, generous portions of steak or chicken fajitas. The service always friendly and attentive. HOWEVER, the visits to the Plano west side Chuy's has really gone downhill. It starts from the staff who seat you (dull-eyed, zombie-like, uninterested) to the high turnover server staff. Then, there's the food. This past visit with my daughter and grandsons, we all ordered the chicken fajitas. Limp, warm vegetables on very worn-out steel plates, underneath warm undersized chicken. It looked like everything was pre-cooked and in warming bins in the kitchen, then slapped on the plates to serve. My grandsons ate everything, they're teens and didn't know any better. My daughter and I looked at the presentation and we were both a bit taken back. This was not Chuy's standards. BUT, I think all of the restaurants, except for a few, have had difficulties with staff on all levels in the past few years, just finding people who CARE. I always ask for extra guac, and usually get an ice cream sized scoop in a separate bowl. My daughter and I asked for extra guac and the server brought a small cup with two spoonfuls of guac with shreds of lettuce stuck to both spoonfuls, like someone did not use a clean utensil to put the guac in the bowls. Again, we're wondering about what is going on here? The chicken, warm and dry, veggies limp and warm and sparse. We alternate between MiDia and Chuy's, but will probably eliminate Chuy's for the time being. Very sad, and I do hope a manager reads this because I am sincere and I think many other patrons might feel the same way. read more

This is my 2nd time at this place but , my first review . The food was amazing but , the sweet tea was not so sweet . I sent it back and got a coke. I had a party of 6 and we were seated rather quickly. Our food came out in a timely fashion and I was surprised because we ordered alotta food . Now our server on the other hand was terrible I had a baby with me that spilled a drink so I immediately got up and got napkins and started cleaning up the spill . My family was tapping me and whispering that our server was standing behind me leaning against the wall , doing absolutely NOTHING but , watching me clean the table . Came by with my wife the other night and grabbed a seat at the bar. We received prompt and friendly service. Tried a cocktail, enchiladas and the chicken fajitas. Considering the price point, service and ambiance I'd give this spot a 4.5/5. The experience and food were straight forward Tex mex. Chicken was nicely prepared. The hatch Chile sauce on the enchiladas was good but not quite enough (I selected this sauce). Adding tomatillo sauce made a world of difference. The homemade tortillas with the fajitas were awesome too! For affordable Tex mex with a laid back atmosphere, I'd recommend Chuy's. Our swirl margaritas were on point. Our waiter was really cool. The chips, salsa and creamy jalapeño dip were fabulous. The food was hot, tasty, and perfect. They had the shirts we wanted in our sizes. It was a magical visit to Chuy's! I have to say the shrimp stuffed chili relleno was amazing. Went here for lunch on Wednesday with a friend and I was super impressed. The restaurant is a funky and fun mix of a 1950s diner and traditional Mexican food restaurant. The ceilings are covered in cool car parts and it is such an eye catching design--everywhere you look there is something new!! My friend and I were warmly greeted by our waitress and brought chips and salsa. OMG, their chips and salsa are so good, particularly the salsa! The salsa had just a hint of spice and I could not stop myself from eating it. It is like I knew I had food coming, but I did not care as the salsa and its deliciousness pulled me in. I flipped through the menu and could not decide between their ample selection of enchilada, tacos, salads, and special combos. With the suggestion of my friend I finally decided to get their chicka boom boom enchilada platter. The platter came with two enchiladas with pulled white chicken and a side of rice and beans. I opted for all beans instead of the rice--refried and charro beans. Everything was super delicious. I was a little mad at myself for eating so much chips and salsa because I really wanted to eat more of my entree. Thank God for to go boxes! I took my food home and it reheated so well.
