So I've been here a few times within the last few weeks and this location is ALWAYS on point!! No matter what time of the day, it's super clean inside and the customer service is always fantastic. Every staff member I've come into contact with has been so sweet and patient. Also, they do NOT skimp on the portions AT ALL! The other day I got a half bird burrito (which is their smallest size), and it was huge! Then today I got a bowl, and again, huge and packed with SO much flavor!! I visited this location in Plano, Texas. It' was very disappointing because the food was not fresh. The pans of meat were dry and loose hard. Both rice selections were low with the employee scrapping the hard bits from what wa left in the pan. When I politely asked when the GM got very defensive and snippy. He proceeded to fill the food On the line and adds the very old, hard, and dry food into the fresh food. The GM had an overall terrible attitude and appeared to be very overwhelmed and angry. We ended up leaving and went to Chipotle. Not sure if the GM Is new but, this location is on a downward trajectory. read more

The food is cold. The meat and the tortillas are refrigerator cold on burritos and quesadillas. I ordered a quesadilla last time hoping for a hot meal, and they didn't heat the tortilla or even melt the cheese. Also, they don't have a sauce bar anymore. By far the best local freebirds! We have driven passed the closest one to our house to come here. They have good quantities of meat selection, the burrito makers know the secret menu and execute it well. They are friendly and do a great job! I love myself a good burrito bowl, but this was a little disappointing. I have tried other comparable places (chipotle/cava/etc) and i have to say Freebirds is now at the bottom. The portions weren't as big and overall it just didn't hit the spot for me! However, I've heard great things about the chips & guac and sauces. I wasn't able to try the chips and dip but I ordered the Creamy Jalapeño Sauce in my Chicken Burrito Bowl and it was delicious! It's been a bit, so Freebirds it was. Wow...I shocked that it cost so much more than Chipotle. Two burritos....and almost NO flavor. Two totally different orders, all the stuff ordered, and both are incredibly BLAND. We couldn't taste any pico, any cheese, any salsa. The cilantro rice was mushy, flavorless, and BLAH. NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA. Filling, but not enjoyable or satisfying. However, the chips and salsa were outstanding!!!! So crispy and perfect. The odd thing was, walking in, it reeks of mothballs? Like a great grandma's old musty closet that hasn't been opened in decades. It was bonkers....and not necessarily good. I've never experienced anything like it. Lastly, a sigh taped to the door that 'RESTROOMS ARE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY'! Ummmmmm this is in Plano, or the edge of Frisco. In a nice strip center with other restaurants and businesses. Would give 0 if I could. Don't waste your money here. We ordered a "Monster" burrito, which was about $14, and it was about 4 inches long. When I called Freebirds about it the manager claimed she made it and that there were 3 scoops of chicken on it. In the picture you can clearly see the burrito is mainly tortilla and cheese. Choice of beans, rice, salsa, etc. I went with the carnitas. Staff asked if I wanted any queso but I didn't realize it was an extra fee until checkout. Service was fast, Coke products are available. Well I gotta say, I've been a die hard Freebirds fan for over 20 years, and this was my first disappointing visit out off all the 'Birds I've been to. This was my first visit back since covid, so I had my hopes up for a delicious burrito. There was no dark meat chicken, no Monterrey Jack cheese (why only mixed cheese?) no Dr. Pepper, No Coke, and no beer (not even a beer cooler)? What the heck. I'm hopeful these aren't permanent menu changes, because you can't recreate the flavor of a regular freebird, with Spanish rice, refried beans, dark meat chicken, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, guac, sour cream, and mild tomatillo sauce using pork and half cheddar cheese, (and root beer or Hi-C to drink)! First things first the floors were very sticky from the main door all the way to the bathrooms. Next was the food, too too salty! I spent a good hour chugging down water after eating the food. I've been to Freebirds twice before in the Richardson location and I was extremely impressed. The food was tasty, warm with a delicious side of queso. After experiencing that I was eager to go eat lunch at Freebirds again because of my first two experiences so I decided to give this location a try and I can honestly say I will not be returning. In addition to the food being salty, the food was not warm so by the time I started eating, the queso was hardening. They also had a side of a vegetarian option which I decided to give it a try, big mistake. It was hard and stale and so every bite I took had hard bits in it. This really ruined my day as I had quite an appetite and I was looking to enjoy a good meal after long hours of shopping. The entire thing was cold. My wife ordered a burrito bowl. Her spanish rice was undercooked and hard as a rock. Her pinto beans were undercooked. Her white chicken was stringy and dry. Of course, hers was also cold. The employees there obviously didn't give a damn about the food because one of them looked like he was high as a kite. My wife is an ex-cop, but even without being a cop, no one's eyes are THAT dilated. It doesn't matter if you think Freebird's is better than Chipotle.
