Cowboy taco is the bomb!! And the margarita was delicious! Friendly service!! You can't beat the price

I've been to Taco Deli on two occasions now. I forget what taco variety I ordered the first time, but today I opted for frontera fundido chicken. It was generously topped with chicken meat, and the meat quality definitely ranks above Chipotle or even Velvet Taco IMO. The grilled chicken was a bit more greasy and salty than I remember the shredded chicken being, but nothing offensive. (I believe my first taco experience here involved a shredded chicken taco option.) They fill your order pretty quickly here, and there is a variety of spice levels of salsa to choose from. I was happy with the medium salsa roja. It's more crowded at lunch time than dinner in my experience, which makes sense given the type of restaurant and how many nicer dinner options are in this area. At around $5 a taco, it's not a steal if you're needing 3-4 to be full, but if you just need 1-2, it's really not bad. Meets the need for a fast casual taco experience. I chose corn tortillas, which were as expected. The art inside is fun and playful- very Texas! They employees were friendly and efficient in managing a growing line. Give Taco Deli a shot! read more

Everyone who poorly reviewed this Tacodeli is just living a different life than I am..... I LOVE this place. Seriously, I can't think of a better spot for an affordable, yummy, fun meal! I LOVE their queso, it's so good. They have 4 different salsas (really just sauces), each varying in heat. I completely adore the Dona (hot) one. I have gotten it togo before as well. It's so creamy, bright, spicy, and delicious! I am vegetarian and order the heather, which has fried cheese and guac. It's always excellent. They have great, and extremely strong, margs! I personally will opt for the guavarita. The service is great. The restaurant is clean and spacious with varied seating and large restrooms. I didn't personally have them this time, but they have actually incredible breakfast tacos. My favorite is potato (mashed here), egg (vital farms!), and cheese. Have come here multiple times and have had great experiences overall. Staff is so kind, and the place is clean and offers a variety of different salsas. I firstly tried their horchata made with almond milk and it's a chefs kiss; it's not too sweet, and the almond flavor is a great pairing with the cinnamon. Their tacos are also pretty good, nothing crazzyyyy though; the size of the taco, for the price is what makes me really like this place. I tried some melted ground beef taco as well, and that was my favorite overall. Their flour tortilla is standard, but their corn tortilla is not too "corny" if that makes sense lol; it's like a mix of a normal flour and corn tortilla, which i really liked. Brought here by an influencer who praised their breakfast tacos and green creamy salsa, I was so excited to order some of their lunch tacos. Ordered a carnitas taco and a some other carnitas special. Both had good flavors, but unfortunately arrived at my table cold, so not the greatest fan of that, but the green creamy salsa was so good it almost saved these two tacos. I also ordered the chicken (tortilla?) soup, and it was the greatest disappointment. The broth had no flavor and it was topped with a scoop of their cold pico the gallo and a few pieces of avocado. The chicken part of the soup was almost non existent as it had 4 tiny pieces, anyway the soup was not worth it. Service was minimal, but pleasant. The ambiance, was casual and quiet and there was only one other person eating there when I visited. Overall, I might be back to try the breakfast tacos, but for what I got 2 tacos and a chicken soup $18+ was a bit steep for quantity and quality and I was still hungry. read more

This taco place exceeds my expectations since it sounds so similar to another taco franchise. These are Tex mex style tacos with some of the most flavorful meat I had experienced. My favorites were the Al pastor taco, which happened to be the weekend daily special. They have the habanero salsa and green creamy garlic salsa. They brought out our tacos pretty fast too. Taco deli has been one of my favorite taco shops and their green donna Salsa is to die for. The vibe of the place is also cool. However the past couple of times going to this Plano location service has been very poor and the staff seems very unhappy. I think probably a bit more training on customer service with the staff would make this location shine. read more

I stopped here for lunch today & got 2 tacos. It' was my 1st time ever eating at one of these but I heard good things. The woman at the counter was very patient & explained everything to me & showed me the salsa bar. I ordered the Picosito - flour & the Friday special steak chimichurri. Ok so the picosito was delicious if I had to base coming back just on that taco I definitely would. Then I tasted the Friday special, it said it had chimichurri! I have never tasted or seen a chimichurri that was that greasy, it tasted more like straight chorizo! It made me gag & after 1 bite I had to throw it out. If I would have ate that taco 1st I would have never have tasted the picosito, thank God for the small things. Go, try it yourself and if you like greasy or chorizo try the one with chimichurri. Came by here after shopping at AT&T next door. It looked inviting but the 3.8 rating on Yelp was awful and we considered not eating. Figured we could chance it and see what one taco is like? The girl who took our order was friendly and told us her favorite was the barbacoa. So, we got two barbacoa tacos and they were absolutely not bad at all! Quite good I think! I eat many Tacodeli breakfast burritos at the office so I was excited to come to a location for a full breakfast experience. The interior is super cute, clean, and today absolutely freezing haha! Check out the fun art on the wall! And observe the innovative baby changing station in the gender neutral (yay) bathroom. Great touch. Service was kind and prompt. I love the salsa bar so you can pick your flavor enhancement. All three of us found the tacos to be just ok. I got the Freakin Vegan, which was disappointing. It was a plop of refried beans with a slice of avo. I also got a migas taco and it was better but still ok. My companions got a Vaquero (they said this was the best one), bacon egg and cheese, and the AKAUSHI PICADILLO & EGG. Again, all ok. Way better than Taco Cabana and Taco Bell, but not as good as Torchy, Fuzzy, or Velvet. I will stick with the burritos when someone brings a case to the office! read more

I greatly appreciate y'all having 1 person in charge of Keeping up with cleaning the tables, drinks & salsa area every 5-10 mins. A lot of places over look this importance.... But NOT Here! Super Clean and Orderly This is a Walk Up and Order place. We ordered their Queso & Chips, the COWBOY and the POLLO FANTASTICO and they were both Awesome! Served on freshly made flour tortillas ~ Yes please! My favorite was the Cowboy ~ Lots of juiciness and flavors in this one! The Queso had Great Flavor and I LOVE the thick Chips they serve with them! I wish the Queso was a bit thicker.... but that's just me. The Iced Tea was well made, not all water, this one had flavor. We hardly waited for our food to be ready. It seemed like by the time we got our drinks, salsa, napkins and picked out a table, they were already calling our name and bringing the food out to us at the table. Good quality tacos here, which is what you'd expect for an Austin company. I mostly wanted to write a review that answered the question I searched reviews unsuccessfully to find: How big are the breakfast tacos? Too many times I've ordered 2 tacos and learned they were big enough to feed 4 people. And conversely I've ordered 1 taco to be safe on food quantity only to discover I should have gotten 2. The answer is the tacos are moderately sized. I ordered the Otto (delicious but I should have read more carefully to realize it did t have any egg) and a bacon and egg. The quantity of beans in the Otto made it a bit much to eat along with a standard taco. However I don't think my bacon and egg would have been enough on its own. Hopefully this helps others thinking about portion control and trying to make wise ordering decisions. read more

Love to order their tacos with bean and cheese. Their flour tortillas are super soft and chewy. The employees are very nice and always bring out curbside orders super duper fast. This place is Torchy's only rival in my heart!! If you like Torchy's then you def need to give this place a try!! read more

Yesterday my wife and I decided to try Tacodeli and to our surprise it was pretty good! We tried the Hibiscus flavored margarita, steak lime taco, steak bowl with cowboy corn added! The food I will give 8.5/10. The customer service was 10/10 as we explain it was our 1st time and the young lady provided recommendation since I'm such a picky eater. However it was pretty good even though we weren't expecting to pay $61+ for our meal. So do I feel it was worth the price? Honestly, I would have to say yes & no! Again it wasn't the biggest bang for amount of food but the experience can be added to cost as it was an unofficial date and the atmosphere was nice. The outside patio mixing with the Texan cool evening made it so relaxing. Yes I would visit again and my wife love what she believe to be authentic Mexican cuisine made the experience so satisfying. read more

We had wonderful tacos at Tacodeli! My first taco was the "freakin vegan" and I applied their delicious sauces on the top which created a delicious flavor. $25/ 4 tacos. Tried the build your own. Chorizo/egg/ cheese/ avocado (4.50$) Chorizo is not mixed with the egg. Egg was simi cold, tortilla was halfway cooked and cold. Avocado was already turning brown so indication it's been sitting for a while. Carne asada tacos Hardly filled, raw onions (that's ok) avocado was turning brown. Tortilla wasn't warm. Waiting 15 minutes for the meat to cook and it was chewy. For the price point I can go up the st and get better tacos for 25$ This place is for individuals that don't know any good places for tacos and just want that quick fix. 2 stars. read more

I've been coming here pretty frequently for about 6 years now, but today is the last time I will ever come here. I just found hair in my order today and I had to throw out the whole thing. Absolutely disgusting. Also, every time I go in to pick up an online order, they never ask for a name and they just put the orders in a cabinet and forget about them. If I ask they always say "we'll be right with you" which ends up turning into 5 minutes. This place used to be happy and vibrant and now it's disappointing. OH EM GEE! I will DEFINITELY BE BACK HERE! I have this thing going on right now where I'm going to different fast-food mexican places and trying out their guacamole. The restaurants that I am comparing this restaurant too are Chipotle, Nom Noms, Taco Cabana, Qdoba, Torchy's, Fuzzy's, Moe's, etc... What I do is just order their side of guacamole and nothing else (maybe take some salsa if they have the salsa bar). So when I first came in here I loved the menu variety, and they have daily taco specials for each day of the week. Price wise I would rank this right between Torchy's and Fuzzy's. It is one dollar more than Fuzzy's but a dollar less than Torchy's. As I stated previously I ordered a medium sized guacamole only, which was around $8, however this also came with two bags of chips (which I did not order, this was mistake on the cashiers part). So the side of guac here was slightly pricier than the places that I have listed previously however it is one of the BEST guacs that I have tasted. It doesn't look like the chipotle, and qdoba, their guac is slightly more pureed to a chunky paste type and has no tomatoes. Yet it was the delicious the perfect sourness, chunkage, and flavor. While I was there I also took their side salsa that they have to offer and omg they do not skimp on flavor at all! I need to come back again now and actually order their tacos. Because if the guac and their salsa's tasted that good and flavorful I can only imagine how delicious their tacos would taste. read more

This is not authentic Mexican food; think of it as the Panda Express of Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, it's not even tasty. The barbacoa is slimy, smothered in a red sauce, and the corn tortillas are served cold. None of the flavors in the tacos I tried resemble traditional Mexican cuisine. If you're seeking genuine Mexican food, this isn't the place. If you're hoping for Tex-Mex, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. However, the breakfast tacos are edible. read more

First time to taco deli, and it was very tasty. I had the Otto with egg, huevos ahogados, and the sirloin, egg, and cheese. The best by far was the sirloin egg and cheese, the Otto was very tasty as well, the huevos ahogados was good, but not as good as the others. They also have pretty tasty salsa, I tried the medium and the very hot, both are good, and the very hot is very hot. I dropped a star because for three tacos and a soda it was $14, which is expensive to me but I'm fairly new to Dallas, so it seems that food here is generally more expensive. Before I started a juicing plan, I had to make sure my 'last meal' was phenomenal so we decided to go with tacos. We parked and before we even got inside, they had a stand like area were you could look at the menu + get hand sanitizer. Because COVID is real, duh. I believe there was one other person in front of us but we were so focused at looking on the menu, we were well behind them. I was shocked they didn't have brisket on their menu. Steak, chicken, pork, shrimp but no brisket. No biggie, so I went with steak, chicken and shrimp. I don't remember the exact names, but there are different variations of each of these. We were asked what type of sauce we wanted, mild/medium etc. We ended up waiting about 10mins + for our tacos, but with only one other couple in front of us. I believe a lot of their customers were choosing to do curbside, which meant a longer wait for us. That was ok because we were inside having a mini photo shoot. When I arrived home, I was excited to dig in, but when opening my taocs I was already disappointed with the appearance. Unfortunately, eating them didn't change this. The green peppers on my shrimp taco were raw, don't even think they attempted to grill them. The steak was extremely chewy. & the chicken... was by far the driest I've ever had. They all had good 'flavor' but still had components that were just off... It was ok, can't say I'd return though. read more
