It's been awhile since I stepped in one of any Chuy's and this last visit seemed like it was lacking something. I used to get their steak burrito topped with Hatch green chile sauce but this visit I opted for their Tacos Al Carbon. It ok not great. It was on a drier side. I have to drench it with their salsa served with the chips. That made it a little better. Service was fast and efficient. I was there for a quick lunch and got out before the rush. Will I comeback? I love Chuy's!!! I stopped by for dinner and drinks on a Monday night. We were seated immediately in a very cool room. The ceiling was made out of tires! One thing about Chuy's is the portions are extremely generous. It's hard not to fill up on chips and salsa/creamy jalapeno sauce at the beginning. I ended up ordering cheese enchiladas because I'm vegetarian, and they were amazing. Service was great. I loved their drinks, especially the margarita and cherry limeade with Tito's. First time reviewing but I've had my fair share of chuys over the years. I always get the burrito which is great but the portion size has definitely gotten smaller. This was my first time getting the deluxe tomatillo on top highly recommend. The jalapeno dip and chips is always the best. The food was great, the service was amazing, and the vibes were immaculate! But that's not why I'm writing this review. Long story short, a man had come in and taken a photo of me and my group of friends (all young girls in our late teens/early 20's) we saw the interaction happen and kept an eye out, but didn't really think much of it. But the sweet couple at the table behind the guy that took a photo of us had some concerns about our safety and took action. They let the manager know the situation so first Goldstar goes to the couple. Then the manager gets the second gold star for not only keeping an eye on our table, holding the door for us on our way out, but for explaining the situation and walking us each individually to our cars! So shout out to the manager that protected me and my friends, and watched all of our cars leave the parking lot to make sure we were safe. I'm glad there's people like that in this world. read more

I want to start off by saying the 5 stars goes to our server TJ! We came in with a group celebrating our friend's birthday Sunday evening. He was very attentive and kept our drinks and chips full. What I appreciate the most is his knowledge about ingredients and menu items. I've been coming to Chuy's for years and I mean YEARS! Mostly this location too. Im vegetarian and there's limited options or sometimes I would have things modified to be vegetarian. What made this experience different was that my husband ordered queso for the table (as we always do) and TJ informed me that the queso is made with chicken broth! No one has ever told me that before ever and It may be time that you guys list that on the menu and make sure that all staff know that the queso is not 'vegetarian friendly' he was so kind to bring me Boom boom sauce as a queso alternative! This isn't gonna make me stop coming to Chuy's. Obviously the queso hasn't harmed me. But did make me sad that I have to part ways with it. I used to eat Chuys all the time when I was younger, I hadn't been to Chuy's in Plano and finally decided to have a look. It's a very casual place, a light fun ambulance, good for groups and kids, with a decent ittle bar to have a margarita. I had a mojito which was very good, I had the Elvis Presley combo which was surprisingly a lot of food for the price, and was tasty. One thing that surprised me is that they have no hot sauce, they have a pico de gallo which is good, but no hot sauce other than Tabasco. I was by myself and many times when you're by yourself service isn't great because you tend to eat faster than when you're with people, but the one thing I'm very much dislike is when I run out of liquids. So the service wasn't the best, they probably could have gotten another mojito out of me if the waitress would have been a little quicker. The food came quickly, there was just no visits in between. I had their tres leches for dessert which was not traditional but absolutely delicious, overall a good experience and a great dessert, I would go back. read more

Our first time visit while helping our daughter move to Allen, TX. A gal on our flight to Texas told us Chuys was a MUST!! Especially the Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom (which is the Boom Boom sauce). Although we opted for something different to enjoy, Chuychanga w/boom boom sauce, scrumptious rice which was very good (take it from me, I'm Mexican and know yummy Mexican rice), refried beans (now I didn't eat them, but my daughter said they tasted like Rodrigos in California, but still good). Our Chuychanga was loaded with moist chicken, green onions and a white sauce. The chips were thin, crunchy and warm and very tasty along with excellent salsa. A bit spicy, but not horrible. Okay since this review which our first visit, we have returned in 2024 and I must tell you I made sure we visited again. It is still as yummy as before!! Their margaritas are very very good. I'm a margarita snob, not too boozy but lots of flavor. I loved them. Since my husband can't have hard chips, he opts for their homemade flour tortillas which are almost as good as my grandmothers. Fluffy and cooked just right without being overcooked and crispy. I believe they are free when asking for them (sorry don't quote as I didn't pay the bill). This time around we shared their flautas and once again we were not disappointed. Sorry no pics I was just so excited to be enjoying Chuy's on Cinco de Mayo. Glad we went earlier than the dinner hour because it was busy and was busier when we left. Oh yes, get the cheese dip with meat- oh my gosh, it's a meal in itself. Really yummy spread on the tortillas. Love the eccentric decor lots to look at when enjoying a great meal. The restaurant is quite large with a large bar as well. They do have happy hour from what my daughter tells me. She said in her opinion the best deal on the menu is the steak quesadillas which she shares with her hubby. All of the aforementioned were hits. After every bite, my three year old would say, "Mommy, this place is so yummy!" He didn't lie. The hostess sat us right next to the kitchen when the place was fairly empty. We were hungry for lunch. Have seen this place many times coming from and going to church. Finally stopped in. Wow, very interesting and bright interior. I recently read an article by a woman that described how she didn't really understand Mexican food until she moved to Texas. She proceeded to perfectly describe the misunderstood Tex Mex comfort food that everyone craves. She also described how much she misses it since she doesn't live here anymore. I discovered the original Chuy's on Barton Springs Rd in Austin Texas. I was leaving my favorite swimming hole in the known Universe ( Barton Springs) and starving. Luckily I stopped at the little interesting side of the road place that literally blew my mind with tacos,enchiladas and margaritas like I'd never experienced. They have since grown in and outside of Texas,trying to maintain that original location and food feel. For the most part they've succeeded but, will never match the original. Today I had a great meal. While not as good as the original,still better than 90 % of the other options around. We went for dinner yesterday and was thoroughly disappointed, pretty much with everything. Service was super slow and it wasn't even that busy. We ordered beef fajitas and the meat was super chewy, we asked for a different slab of meat and there was an issue with that. Then the bathroom floors were like a slip and slide, disgusting. We ended up here on a day we started with a 5am flight home. We'd had a disappointing attempt at breakfast, so we headed to our favorite restaurant later in the day for a late lunch/early dinner. They were closed. We started free-styling down 75 looking for inspiration and thinking of barbecue. It was then I spotted Chuy's. For mid-afternoon, they were not busy when we arrived & we were immediately seated. A few quick things: first, I wish they had sturdier chips. Their's are so thin they are nearly translucent. Scone, and this is something we've seen many places, they have rolled back their menu since pre-pandemic. I found noting I really wanted, so I went with some tortillas and queso. I would have like a larger serving of queso, almost like they only have two possible options - a dip size and the $10 or so full app. Nonetheless, the food was tolerably good, the service minimally attentive, and nothing stood out as negative. Likewise, nothing stood out as great either. I used to consider Chuys a top of the line choice, but I'd really rank the in the middle now with a huge clump of "we're doing nothing to differentiate ourselves" joints. The last thing I will mention is avoid the gimmicky take home cup offer. All it is is a cheap, plastic tumbler that changes colors when the temp does. read more
