The Taco DeLite on Independence in Plano is truly a fast food TexMex experience! There's no waiting once you get your food! You're compelled to pull over in the parking lot of the shopping center and NOSH! It's that good!! Especially the crunchy beef tacos! It's messy so dive in and make sure you have a plastic spoon bc there's enough taco residual left in the wrapper thar it easily becomes a taco salad!! Truth! The line moves through very quickly (like ChikFilA) and the waitstaff are very friendly and quick! Portions are very hardly. Don't gripe about the price bc the quality outweighs the increase. We ordered 3 super tacos in the drive thru and we were charged for 3 super tacos at window. However, we received 3 regular tacos. I called and got a recording in which I left a detailed message. I've been eating at the Richardson, TX location for many years; I'm saying, without any doubt, this is the best Mexican food, especially the tacos. I used to only get the taco (I believe it was the special of the day) that was a regular beef taco, but it had a scoop of guac spread entirely over the top of taco. OMG, I could drool. I went here one Saturday afternoon. During the pandemic, only drive thru is allowed for ordering. There was quite a line! But still, a good sign and I was excited. The line also went by fast, which was good. I only wanted to try something small, so I got one supreme taco. It's similar to Taco Bell's crunchy supreme taco, but much better. It is filled with fresh ingredients and the flavor is on point. I guess I am just used to my fast food tacos to be hits or misses especially with the usual handling and preparation from fast food joints, but the taco here was perfectly prepared. Not to mention the low prices! I should have ordered more. The menu is TexMex, with tacos, burritos, quesadillas, salads, and even burgers. I am a huge fan of Taco Delite and wish they were closer to me. There are two I know of and neither are very convenient, they need some more locations for sure! Accurately named, their tacos are delightful. The lean beef is seasoned wonderfully and they put an ample amount on your taco. They also load you up with cheese and lettuce too, and put it all in a crispy taco shell, making it a winning combination! I also enjoy their bean burritos. They have the beans at a perfect consistency of smoothness and add just enough chili sauce and then some cheddar cheese, and all of those ingredients are proportioned perfectly with each other. You are missing out if you like fast-food Mexican and have not tried this place out. Don't expect much in the way of interiors, they are pretty plain and simple on that, but this place blows away other fast-food Mexican places! read more

The food is always consistently good. This is not fine dining but a little taco shop opened back in the mid 1970s. The Plano health department gives out its ratings each year and this place is always at the top for being clean. The thing that sets it apart are the staff. Honestly I have been coming here for years but today might be the last time. The workers had attitudes. They got our order wrong, and I came up there with my grandma, my sister, and my nephew. The manager lady I'm guessing the general manager (she's always there when I go up there) she kind of threw my grandmas lid on the counter when my grandma asked her for one. They gave us 2 unsweetened teas and when I asked for sweet tea the manager had a little attitude while giving us the sweet teas. A big shout out to the owner of the East location! I've been a customer of the west location for two decades. Mainly because of the convenience but not anymore. Apparently, the restaurant got sold to some guy named Javier and when I had a minor issue with my order he got very rude and condescending to me. I got a hold of the owner of the east location by accident (not knowing Javier was the owner) and let her know what happened. Even though she has nothing to do with the west location she went out of her way to chat a bit and I appreciate that she knows how valuable customers are to a successful business. I'll definitely make the drive to the east location for good food and great service and suggest anyone who reads this to do the same! Let's support small business owners that deserve it! read more

Sweet baby jesus, thank you for the soft chicken tacos at Taco Delite. They make me so happy, with their shredded deliciousness. I'm not gonna lie, I always hope there aren't many other patrons at the counter when I order from TD because I feel like a glutton for ordering so much food. My other favorite items on their menu are the guacamole tostada (which is definitely a large pile of relatively plain guac, tomato, lettuce and cheese on a flat taco shell) and the bean burrito with onions added. The guacamole may not be super garlicky or salty but it is always fresh and extremely smooth and full of avacado love. If you're so inclined, you can scrape a bit of it off your tostada to have on a taco which is always delish. If you're just in the mood to grab a quick bite and the idea of Taco Bell turns your stomach, you definitely need to check out this place. The prices are extremely low, the employees are really pleasant and the food is fresh and tastes great. My wife and I stop in this place on a Friday night for a quick bite. I ordered the combination nachos and she ordered the cheese enchiladas. The nachos were uninspired. The cheese and beans were definitely from a can. My wife's enchiladas were cold as she had to send them back for something else. To their credit, they did fix her something else. The only real highlight of the meal was the Spanish rice. I guess you get what you pay for! I've really good cheap Mexican food at some small local Taqueria's here in Plano, while this place was cheap, it was not good, it was not authentic, and it was not a good value. read more

Sorry guys, I just can't keep up the 5 star habit here. I went out today for what is known as "Road Kill Lunch." Taco Delite is where I ended up. I ordered two crispy tacos (no lettuce - allergy) and a guacamole tostada (no lettuce - allergy) and a large Root Beer. While standing in order I heard the cashier explain to a patron that if at any time you are going to order two Large drinks of the same drink... that you are better off just buying a gallon, as it is only $0.40 more and you will have "refills" The tacos were fine, the meat was a tad on the dry side and there were no tomatoes on the tacos which would have added extra moisture. The guacamole (term used loosely) tostada did have tomatoes on them.. but the guacamole tasted more like mashed avocados with no seasoning in it. The cashier who helped me also suggested I topped off my Root Beer before I left because it was still a bit "foamy". As for customer service, this place would get a 5... but I'm not quite to the point I'm able to upgrade the overall star level based on the food. *Road Kill Lunch/Dinner/Meal is when you get in your car and drive until something jumps out at you and says "eat me". read more

The limited menu of tacos, burritos and enchiladas and nachos basically mean that the cooks need to simply keep a huge supply of seasoned ground beef, chicken, beans, rice and sauce ready all the time and assemble what they need speedily Don't go looking for fancy Mexican food. This isn't the place to examine the many rustic fillings of poblano peppers or carnitas. Nope -it's the beef and chicken. The cheese. Oh yeah, you can have this. And you can have all of this for cheap. Yeah, like nothing is really more than $5 per entrée or dish. Can't beat that because this is essentially pretty good fill-up food, food that you eat when youre literally on the run. To wash it all down you can have a small soft serve of ice cream. Isn't that nice. But wait -you can also wash all that down with their huge cups of crushed ice where you can fill it with your favorite beverage.
