This place always has a packed parking lot and I have heard a lot about it from friends. Everyone I was in line with obviously was a regular and the nice, high energy manager seemed to know everyone. My wife and I stop in this place on a Friday night for a quick bite. I ordered the combination nachos and she ordered the cheese enchiladas. The nachos were uninspired. The cheese and beans were definitely from a can. My wife's enchiladas were cold as she had to send them back for something else. To their credit, they did fix her something else. The only real highlight of the meal was the Spanish rice. I guess you get what you pay for! I've really good cheap Mexican food at some small local Taqueria's here in Plano, while this place was cheap, it was not good, it was not authentic, and it was not a good value. read more

Looks can be deceiving! Taco Delite is delicious. It's fresh, and they have awesome guacamole. If I lived closer I'd probably eat here at least once a week. We've been coming to this location for a couple of years now and love it. The building is old but incredibly well-maintained...even the parking lot and bathrooms are neat and clean. We even noticed that the air vents and ceiling fans are clean....which isn't easy in a fast food establishment!!! The food is good, if not a tad bland but they offer daily specials and free soft serve ice cream. The staff is always very nice and they are always working. When business is slow, they are cleaning. On several occasions we've seen the manager do it all...cleaning, serving, refilling.... He does everything that he expects of his staff. We will continue to come back to this well-managed establishment with the friendly staff. read more

Food seemed below average, design of the restaurant seemed like it hasn't seen a redesign since the 70's and the seating is crammed together like a pack of sardines. It's a decent place. However, watch out for the spaz who mops Nextel your table while patrons are eating. No common sense at all.

We went through the drive-thru and one of the orders was incorrect (found out after arriving home). In addition, we asked for 4 packets of sauce but there were none in the bag. The food tasted great and we would definitely go there again -- just bummed that they can't get the order correct. I think fixing the outside intercom would help. Taco D as we East Planoites call it, has the best sweet tea ever! This location is the original Taco D and some say that it is not as good at other locations. I will test this theory someday.Salsa is amazing. The crispy tacos are what I get everytime and they are top notch. At Taco D they don't skimp you on the ingredients. This place is a great find! I went thru the drive through around 1pm and there was only one car ahead of me, score! I ordered the chicken taco salad (shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, guacamole, and salsa). So delish. Everything tasted and looked fresh (no brown lettuce or soggy cheese). This was my high school taco to go place. I used to demolish taco after taco. I recently went back and its the same ol place.. Pretty cheap authentic tacos but nothing of outstanding quality. This is very basic mexican food (think stadium nacho cheese) but it's inexpensive and easy. They are very proud of their excellent ratings by the health department l, and of course it's a plus that they are doing things the right way. East Plano doesn't have many drive through fast food mexican places, so it's nice to have this. The interior could be updated some. read more

Taco Delite is ok, but I think there is a reason places like this don't blow up like Taco Bell. There's no real flavor in their products! I tried a crispy taco and a brisket burrito, but even the tame salsa couldn't save the taco. A little bland, but add some of the salsas and peppers available and you've got some freshly made Mexican food, in generous portions, on the cheap. There is so much chicken in the chicken tacos - crispy or soft - that I always ask myself why I order the platter which has 2 of them. Especially when I know how good the guacamole is - I'm always going to get that too! Not to mention the soft-serve ice cream. It's good, without a chemical after-taste like some have. The service here is polite and efficient, the place is worn but clean, and most of all the food really hits the spot. It's real food not weird stuff and $5.89 buys more of it than I can eat. Though I usually get chicken, the brisket tacos are great too. I have yet to branch out to the nachos and cheese enchiladas but the tacos are so good I can't seem to get around to them.
