I understand the place is new, however it cannot be possible that every employee there has never been a server. The worst wait staff I have ever experienced in the DFW metroplex. The food is extremely overpriced, not to mention you have to search around the restaurant to find pricing as the menu does not have all the prices. I dont mind paying for quality food/drinks in the area, but I give this place 4 months before the door closes. People are not paying $20 plus a pound for crab legs. Or $10 a pound for crawfish, when something like Razzos is the same quality and across the street. My advice is stay away, try Grub next door. Ten times the place of Shell Shack. read more

This was a horrible experience, do not come here if you are hungry or want a warm meal. Service, wait was terrible, over 1 hour to wait to be seated, over another hour to get your food and it's not worth the price of your bill. Save yourself the aggravation. read more

My family and I ate here for my brothers birthday. The service was TERRIBLE and all the food came out cold and the other half of the food was cold and burnt. I spoke to the manager Kathy and told her the food was burnt she then told me that the way the burger patty is cooked on a grill it's going to look that way my entire party was unhappy with the food and the service which Kathy knew to go on they had the audacity to add a 20% service fee which you would think is for a tip to the waiter or waitress but it IS NOT it goes to the restaurant! When I went to speak to the manager she tried to raise her voice with me and got an attitude because o expressed how my party felt about the service. So on top of you paying for your food they add a service charge for TERRIBLE SERVICE AND BURNT/COLD FOOD and then you have to tip. THIS PLACE WILL NEVER GET MY SERVICE AGAIN WOULD NOT RECOMMEND read more

We were here drinking one night and my boyfriend's pint glass was covered in glass shards. He ended up cutting his lip in 3 places, showed the manager, and the manager held up the glass, shrugged, and walked off. No apology. No refund. Nothing. The bartender informed us afterwards that someone broke a glass in the mug cooler and no one decided to clean it. We paid our tab anyway and left. Very disappointed. read more

I am soooooo disappointed with Shell Shack. We were waiting patiently anticipating the opening of the Alliance location. When it opened, we visited the restaurant on the 2nd day of its opening and we were disappointed with the fact they didn't have bibs and the service was slow. Plus, my mother shrimp was extra small and not the usual size. We chopped it up as growing pains because they were new. Well, fast forward to today, probably our 5th visit, and we were terribly disappointed. We waited there for 10 minutes, after being seated and no one came to ask for our order. The floor had trash on it (by where we were sitting), and it wasn't even busy. After 10 minutes of waiting with not even a serving acknowledging we were there, we left and went next door to another restaurant and received immaculate service at half the price. I'm sorry to say, I will have to find another place to eat delicious crawfish. read more

My family and I decided to try this place out for the first time tonight. We were told when we walked in that they were not sitting anyone because the kitchen was backed up - despite 1/2 of the tables in the restaurant being empty. The hostess quoted a wait time of 20 min to be seated. Anxious for some seafood... we waited and waited and waited. A man came in who knew the manager and was immediately seated. Then a large party was seated who came in ahead of us. I thought for sure we would be seated after that. I asked the hostess how much longer a wait it would be as she proceeded to call other people to be seated. She told me we would be seated after she sat 2-3 more tables that came in AFTER us. At this point it had been an hour wait. I asked to speak to the manager who did not seem too concerned, though he did all of a sudden find a place for us to sit. At this point, it was too late... my kids were starving and my husband was out of patience. While I cannot speak to the quality of the food, I will not be returning because of the lack of service and overall attitude of the employees. read more

Horrible service. We waited at least an hour for our food (1# of king crab, no seasoning and a buffalo chicken sandwich) the people who came in after us (approximately 20 minutes) got their meals 1st. I went to the bar to refill my water, and got my ketchup off another table. The managers were hanging out at the host stand, all 3 of them. We were completely ignored, except by a trainee, after they knew we were unhappy. We will be to Joe's Crab Shack from now on. read more

This is the first time I've been to the Shell Shack and I can tell you that the food was great but the service was absolutely horrible by the time we got in it took about 30 minutes to get our order taken and then another hour and a half to actually get our food during which time our waitress was MIA for quite a while and then we had to chase her down afterwards just to get our bill to pay. the waitress was very apologetic to say the least saying that she had to go break up a fight that was in the kitchen because everybody was throwing water at each other and she was going to take a couple of meals off of our ticket which never happened needless to say we will not be going back.. by the way we were not the only ones affected there was a table right across from us that I think just got up and walked their ticket they were absolutely ticked off and another table next to us was visibly not happy either. read more

The service was horrible this evening. Had to get three different people to check on status of order. Was a common theme throughout the restaurant. The manager had more excuses than execution for the poor service. Food was okay at best. Calamari was warm, not hot. Shrimp was over cooked. I'd recommend not going if you're in a hurry or have plans for later. read more

Had a pretty good lunch here today. Service was great. Our waiter Pearce, was attentive and explained the menu very well. We decided on the boil. With a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish it was enough for two for a light meal. This was quite different from any boil I've ever had. It was good, don't get me wrong, just very different. After you pick you seafood, you choose your seasoning and the amount of heat you want. I liked that! It comes in a bag, where the seafood and the seasoning are all mixed together with some kind of oil. They probably use the oil as a base to have the seasoning stick to the seafood, but I want my seafood with as little extra calories as possible. With that being said the shrimp were big, easy to peel, mostly deveined and they picked up the seasoning very well. The crawfish were also easy to peel, a nice size but the seasoning did not saturate the crawfish like it did the shrimp. Crawfish have to get their seasoning from the boil not seasonings on the outside. I thought the price was reasonable, but I can see how if you're not careful you can spend a lot of money on the boils. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will go back to try more things. read more

This place is overpriced. We came here because there aren't many seafood spots in the area, but we were disappointed. Food was a little cold when it came out, and we had ordered for our crab legs to be peeled and they did not come out peeled because the kitchen was "no longer doing that." The only good thing about this place is the hand washing station as mentioned in previous reviews. read more

First time visitor. I didn't have high expectations especially after looking at the price points. Let me just tell you it superseded any thing I could imagine. Let's start with the fried shrimp, husband had buffalo shrimp. Both were really good. I love how they take off the tail. They were perfectly fried and you could tell their grease was new! Cocktail and tarter sauce was one of the best I've ever had. I don't even like French fries and couldn't stop eating their homemade fries - apparently sprinkled with crack! I had a peach mull that was made with Fever Tree Ginger Beer - the best ingredients you can buy! Meredith and her side kick were welcoming and added to our incredible experience. All in all it was a successful visit! read more

Tried to eat there for Mother's Day, a lot of tables where empty and they said it was a 45 min wait. When we finally got a table they never came to take our order so we decided to go next door to Grub and didn't regret it!! read more

Horrible service. We waited almost a hour and a half to get food. The food was not even hot when it came out. The seasoning was blah... We even had to wait an extended amount of time to pay... The waiter and manager was nice, but the overall experience was horrible. I won't be back and will not recommend this place to anyone.... I guarantee that. read more

First time visit on a Thursday evening in early May. A few things about this place. Particularly, This specific location is a new location in North Fort Worth that our Dallas Friends rave about at the location in Plano. The positives: New restaurant, in a great developing location, with a great atmosphere, descent selection of beers (local or Texan is all I personally drink anymore) and the main entrees, (I had the catfish basket, my wife had the pound of shrimp, my kids shared the chicken strips and some shrimp) the over all was a 6 out of 10. The Negatives: The food at these prices was a 6 out of 10, and that's being generous. But where do I begin, we walked in to a half empty restaurant with 5 families of 3-5 ahead of us waiting to be seated, and were told It would be a 30-45 min wait (Was told they were short staffed). All 5 families in front of us walked out reducing our wait time still to 15 min. (Talk about a loss of revenue at the prices this place charges) We sat down, our waiter was nice, but we were surprised that no prices were on menus and he had to point out to their hidden locations on the walls around the restaurant and our jaws dropped when we found out it was nearly $90 for a combo meal to split with my wife. (Hence I got the $15 catfish plate and she got the $27 1lb of shrimp). As you order, the waiter sends them via WiFi strait to the kitchen, and good luck changing anything after that happens, we were told changes couldn't be made after he submitted the order.. Our meals took a while to came out, only to be warm, and they got my 5 year old son's order mixed up with another table. So they had to re-order his, which (chicken strips) came out 24 min later.. our other son wanted just boiled shrimp, but his came out with their signature sauce (somewhat peppery/spicy) at 3 years old he didn't seem to care, but come on, have some situational awareness, and only a few were "unshelled and de-vained" leaving me to finish the kitchens job. I was interested in trying the crab, but at their prices.. (not that i personally couldn't afford it, we just didn't go out looking to spend $150 on dinner on a Thursday night at what ended up a sub-par establishment). It honestly would have been cheaper to go to "red lobster" or even to "mid-evil times" Their marketing department got it wrong here.. They either need to pack up and move to Southlake/Trophy Club to attract those big spenders, or drastically reduce the prices for this location (very middle class area of town). The sides were small, bland, and even over priced, just boiled cheap rice and corn.. They screwed up/delayed our order so bad, that they comped my kids meals, but we were still $75 out the door with a Tip (1 beer each for my wife and I). If management/leadership reads this.. It will take some very serious changes to get us coming back. That place is ran so poorly I'd give y'all 4-6 months before doors close. We watched at least $500-800 worth of revenue walk out the door in the first 15 min we were there, who were also waiting to be seated. I don't mind spending good money on Sea Food, but the prices are not worth the product we received at shell shack, I'm glad i didn't by the $80-$120 combo meals. Lots of things to fix here, and that falls on/starts with poor management/leadership... and the location of this establishment. Fix those issues, and the place might survive. Good luck, don't recommend.. for now. read more

Love this place! The crab tater tots are AMAZING. We also had an awesome waitress, Andie. She was super friendly and attentive; great personality! We will be back! read more

I ate there yesterday (3/1/2020) for the first time and I will NEVER go back. The food was ok but the service was terrible. After we were seated it took the waitress almost 10 minutes to wait on us and another 10 minutes to get our drink order. In my opinion there is too much seasoning on the crab/shrimp and just a mess to eat. read more

Came here mid-late afternoon, Bri was our server but aside from that just not great service all around. We came in around 2pm, maybe 4-5 other families seated already. It took a good 20-30 minutes to get our server, another solid 30 minutes before our salads came out, and after that about another 30 minutes before our meal... we have been here for around 2 hours for mediocre service at best, got our bill split 2 ways between 5 people and it was still messed up... read more

I hate to give them two stars but I cant lie about how good the food is. It was made fresh and the "Kitchen Sink" tastes AMAZING! I had a create your own boil since they were out of sausage. I wanted a platter for my boyfriend and I to share but when i asked the manager if they were doing substitutions for sausage she rudely stated "no, we don't have the sausage and we don't do substitutions" Fine..I build my own boil. Ordered with my server who was very sweet, patient and helpful. Also ordered a half pound of fried shrimp and a half pound of fried oysters to go. It took awhile for the food which doesn't bother me at all because its always worth the wait for fresh seafood. My order is ready and my server is packing my bag then asks "would you like to eat your fried oysters here?" I said no, I would like my entire order to go. She says "Its against the law to take them out of the restaurant" Raw i understand...Fried...I cant find any documentation on why I cant take Fried oysters home and if i would have known that I wouldn't have prepared my hungry mouth to eat them. I was very disappointed. The not so nice shift manager comes out and says "we can substitute it for shrimp if you'd like." Ruined my experience. I didn't feel like I was wanted there or did I feel like she cared that I was inconvenienced by them. Id really like to go back and dine in for the fried oysters but Id like to know if there's any truth on them not allowing me to leave with them. read more

Our server Meredith was very attentive and the food was amazing! Came out really quick and the flavor was really good. The Gm Andy came over and made sure everything was going great. Would highly recommend this location! read more

Only reason they got three stars is because the food was actually really good. Loved how they butterflied their shrimp as well. Other than that, the experience was quite off par. Our waitress had NO idea about the deals or prices. Told us about a margarita deal and then came back saying it rung up only on the managers tablet?? So really confused as to why we couldn't get the margarita deal then? She didn't really explain why and I'm sure since she quoted the price her manager could've easily manually rung up the deal. Why talk about a special if you aren't sure about price in the first place. Then while quoting the menu to us she said "shrimp is 12.99 a pound" when we got our check we realized it didn't reflect that price so we questioned it and she said "oh that was for fried shrimp!" Yet she didn't say that in the first place. Also I'm not sure if their scales are off, or they're measuring their seafood with the extra potatoes/sausage but we very clearly did NOT get a pound of shrimp for either plate. Our waitress also was not very attentive towards us at the back end of our meal time. Not impressed at all, most likely wont return. read more

I wanted to believe these one star ratings were not warranted as I loved eating here and have been several times. We chose this over crab station as crab station had seemed to water down their boils and shell shack has not so you get so much more flavor. However, I was highly disappointed. We were seated immediately but then the bad happened. We sat for over 10 minutes and saw 4 different wait staff walk by without asking if we had been helped or that someone would be with us in a minute. I am not sure if the hostess isn't letting the wait staff know they have a new table or what might be going on. They were a bit busy but that doesn't mean someone couldn't stop by to let us know they would be with us in just a second. I am not going to spend over $50 to be ignored so I just took my business elsewhere. Hopefully they can get better because I did love this place. I guess the best time to go is when it is dead then you won't be ignored. read more

The food is really good. Came here for the first time on Father's Day, my husband and 2 yr old. It took about 20 min to get seated which was fine although they had a few open tables I do believe it was due to understaffing. Sat down and took another 25-30 min to get our food order, we were told by manager it would be about 15 min before our waitress would help us. He was polite and we were ok with it as we could tell once again they seemed understaffed. There were quite a few large parties that day and it just seemed that a lot of people were sitting with no food in front of them. Once we ordered it took about another half hour for our food to come out. By this time my toddler was over the restaurant outing and was ready to go. I got up to entertain him while my husband got a few bites in as it was Father's day and I felt bad that we had to leave by this time. Again the restaurant didn't seem packed busy so I was able to hang out on the side somewhere while my husband waited for our waitress to get a to go box and check. We got horrible rain that day or else going outside would be nice since there is a gorgeous serene view out there. Bottom line Customer service and food were great! I do believe we will be back and hope to get quicker service. We hope this place sticks around bc my husband and I really loved the food minus slow service. read more

The food was good but a little on the pricey side....we had shrimp, sausage, potatoes and hot wing. We selected the junk sauce and it was OMG awesome! The shrimp were cooked to perfection and they actually taste like gulf shrimp. The potatoes and sausage were also very good. I ordered as a started wings and they were ok. Our server was very friendly and spoke about menu items with familiarity, I felt like she definitely eat her and was speaking from experience. We'll visit again! read more

Do not waste your money on this place. Very poor service and very slow. Menu is very slim, except the price$$$$$. My wife and I thought we'd give the new business a try. Went in about 4:30 on a Saturday. Place was not busy, plenty of workers ready for a big night. Nice sports bar-ish decor, lots of sports TVs, chalkboards with things not on the menu, plenty of windows. We asked to start with ice water, and we each asked for sweet tea. Time passed, Server Sam eventually brought my tea and both waters. Maybe because it wasn't from the bar, but it WAS NOT SWEET! But Server Slow Sam was not to be seen for another ten-twenty minutes. When she re-appeared, I reminded her my wife had asked for sweet tea and that I wanted SWEET tea and we placed an appetizer order of calamari. Add another 15+ minutes, a nice white rectangular shape plate, had a nice presentation of our request....chewy? You bet, they were chewy, long-time chewy; but it passed the time waiting for our "main" course. My wife's 1/2dzn. grilled shrimp (@market price, no prices printed on the menu for any fresh fish) were tasty. Oh, get this, she gets two sides with her order...which were delivered first...small scoop of rice in one bowl, four very small broccoli florets in another bowl. My wife needed to ask for a fork! I was living in the wild side; tried a chalkboard special--catfish bites $8.99. I got 5 or 6 breaded catfish pieces, about the size of my thumbnail. Positive side, temperature very hot; negative side, no sides. Don't waste your TIME! Don't waste your money (overheard Bloody Mary was $12!; glad I don't drink)! My wife NEVER got her tea. I guess what further bugged me about this misadventure, Super Slow Server Sam NEVER apologized for anything! Never again! read more

This was the first and last time I will be here. The only reason I gave it one star was because the managers were so accommodating and tried to fix everything. It took our server 5+ minutes to even greet our table, and when she finally came to get drink orders she was gone for another 15 or so minutes to get just waters for five people. When she came back with the waters we were obviously decided on what we were going to eat so we gave our appetizer order (crawfish tails & crab tots) and food order. Then she left for a really long time, at minimum 30 minutes. We had to go find someone to refill the waters and went directly to the bar for our drinks. After about 35 minutes she came to tell us they were out of crawfish. Ok, so we exchanged for the gator tenders. Gone again. 45 minutes later only the gator tenders come out. She finally comes to check on us and asked where the rest of our apps were and we told her they never came, so she went back in and came back 10 minutes later with the rest. And then the big wait came, our food took AT MINIMUM An hour and a half to get to our table, but by then we were ready to leave. The managers came and made everything right and that's the only reason I had it one star. We ordered VIPs, so we were ready to spend a pretty penny there and the whole experience was just wasted. The worst part was that my 2 year old had to wait that long for her tenders. Like I said, the managers are wonderful but the service was so terrible I just can't fathom coming back here and I will definitely not be bringing my family here again. Don't waste your time here, or expect to spend the rest of the evening here waiting on them to get it together. Never again read more

I'm giving this place a 2 simply for location, atmosphere/patio and hand washing station. Food is very over priced. We ordered the catfish bites and $47 platter and the crab legs had no flavor. I asked the waitress if we needed to order it another way next time and she said no. The manager came to talk to me and offered no help only that the kitchen must not have mixed the sauce before pouring it on them. I had to ask the waitress if the manager was going to take the crab legs off and she came back after checking and said no. As we were leaving the manager came out and said he "I wanted to accommodate you" BUT you didn't!! I told him it was an overall bad experience and not handled well, he should've offered a dessert or comped the crab legs. He apologized and we walked to our car. If you are going to walk up to me outside as we are leaving you better have a solution not just an apology. He said they were in a manager meeting. I told him I'd never come back. read more
