Love this food truck. They have the most amazing Mexican food in the county and beyond. They shave their meat off a shawirma skewer some days, smoke their meat on site on others, and it is spiced perfectly. I have already been there at least 6 times at Bristol's in Atascadero and everything I ordered was amazing. I highly recommend the tacos flautas, the nachos, or the chimichangas depending on what they are offering. Got to enjoy this awesome food truck's chorizo fries tonight at Barrelhouse Brewery. They were so amazing, I was shocked because the chorizo I had in the past was less than appetizing. My friends reassured me that this wasn't chorizo out of a tube, that it was freshly made and delicious. So I decided to give chorizo a second chance, and I'm so happy I did because it was fantastic! The sauces were so good, the fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy, there was a perfect amount of everything on them and I wouldn't change a thing. They also offer tacos, burritos, tortas, and a variety of meats. I did read in the previous reviews that they had to wait a long time for their food and this was true in my case as well but it was definitely worth the wait to have a fresh made delicious meal. Tonight was our first time trying this food truck. I have a hard time calling it a food truck. The food they serve Is amazing. The flavors from both items, the pulled pork sando and the al pastor tacos, were out of this world. The pork was spicy, not like the normal over sauced pulled pork I'm used to. Really excellent food, terrible wait time. I would not seek out a spot for drinks & food trucks if this was the only food option! My husband and I stopped by BarrelHouse Brewing Co. on a calm Tuesday night for a beer and food truck tacos and were really excited about the options - with both churros and tortas on the menu, you know the food is going to be awesome! We placed our order at a little before 7:00pm (with no line) and settled in to start on our beer at one of the picnic tables. BarrelHouse wasn't crazy busy, just 2-4 people per outdoor table and a moderately filled bar. At about 7:35pm, we went back up to the truck to check on our order and they said we only had one more order ahead of us - I was pumped because I was hungry by this point! We grabbed some free pretzels from BarrelHouse to tide us over what we guessed would be a 10-minute wait. Between our original order time and when we checked, very few orders were called, but we didn't worry much about that at the time. By 8:05pm (BarrelHouse closes at 8:00pm), our food still hadn't arrived and still no other orders had been called. I was ready to ask for our money back, but thankfully it arrived in the next 5 minutes. From what I remember, my barbacoa torta was awesome - flavorful and moist, really great meat, extra jalapenos - and the aioli that came on the side was awesome! The fries were alright and barely warm, but the churro was awesome and sweet in only a way a churro can be. While the majority of the food was great, the wait time would be ridiculous for a sit-in restaurant, but 1+ hours is especially long for a food truck. It sucked having to quickly eat all of my food and not be able to stop back at the bar for a beer because my meal wasn't ready until after the brewery was closed. The food is good but their service is super slow. For a catering company and food truck their service should be faster. Maybe they need more food prep ahead of time or bring more people in their food truck. I have seen them at a winery as well and their service was no different. They have great food and we had planned to have them cater our wedding last summer. After everything was set, menu, numbers, date, price, location, etc, and multiple meetings and correspondence. They just dropped off the face of the earth. We tried multiple times to get in touch, but they never responded and just left us without a caterer for our wedding. We were extremely disappointed and at a huge loss without a caterer. Shave 'N Flave was at Barrelhouse with Pastor Tacos for my birthday this year so I changed plans to go and try it and was not disappointed. We texted in our order and the food came out promptly. We forgot to tell them that we saw the facebook event that said we could get $2 tacos rather than a slightly higher price. They were unable to change the price but instead gave us an extra plate of tacos. YUM! We were at Tent City a few weeks later and they pulled up with Pastor as their special again and we were so excited. 2 of us shared a plate of 4 tacos and we also ordered the Pastor Fries. The Pastor is fresh and delicious! It has a great spice to it without being overwhelming. The tacos are tasty and filling and the staff is wonderful. Steven catered our wedding. Everyone loved the food. I've read the reviews about his attitude.. But honestly he was great. Our interactions were very casual, it's exactly what we needed. If you're respectful you get respect.. that's my logic. He's doing a high stress job for your very dear high stress event. Let him do his thing. Randomly ordered his food during a rainy night at Tent City trivia and the tacos we ordered were the best I've had! There are times my boyfriend and I stop at Tent City just because the Shav n Flav truck is there!!! It's a small business and sometimes the owner works alone so sometimes you will have to wait a little for your food but it is ALWAYS worth it!! Don't get me wrong, they're food is good. Some where between good and amazing really. Great flavors and interesting takes on a lot of traditional dishes. Unfortunately, the wait time is ridiculous. If they show up to a brewery, like Tent City or Barrelhouse, you better be the first in line and even then be prepared to wait and the wait a little more. I do understand that things can get busy but I really do feel like it is in their best interest to iron this kink out sooner rather than later. There have been a couple occasions where we have gone to Tent City for trivia night and as soon as they open for orders put my order in and by the time we receive food, the event is practically over. On another occasion they have completely lost our order, and on another we didn't receive our entire order. Yes, they do make an effort to rectify the situation and I do appreciate that , but in all honesty the situation should be avoided all together. I needed a caterer for our Sons rehearsal dinner. He and his fiancé chose a winery for their wedding in Paso Robles. I was lost as all the events I coordinate are in Bakersfield, CA. I asked the Winery who came out there the most. They gave me a name of a taco truck that they said was tried and true, but also gave me Shave n Flav and said it was fairly new but they had been out before and they loved the food. I looked at both companies on line and decided to try Shave n Flav 1st. I was met with a very professional, energetic Stephen who is the owner and the 1st thing he said was "I will take the stress off of you and give you and your guests the best food and service I can". I have to tell you, he did not disappoint. We chose his tacos and our guests were still talking about them the next day at the wedding. Stephen went on the next day to compete in a local Taco Challenge and won. None of us that ate his food thought anyone could possibly beat him. We were right. Brittany his wife is also a professional photographer, so she captured the night for us. I could not be happier with them and can highly recommend them for any event.
