Lesson learned. You get what you pay for. Hands down the worst and most painful Brazilian wax I've ever had. I came here to redeem a Groupon and I wish that I hadn't. I had to wait since there was only one girl in the store at the time and she needed to call someone to mind the store. I've never had to help assist while I'm being waxed and that was what happened in order to get the job done. Hours later and I'm still in pain. read more

Went around lunch time using yelp coupon for $10 for $15. The place looked clean and well lit. She greeted me and seated me right away and started threading. I was kind of scared because I would usually like to talk about my preferences before they start working on you. A little after, she asked about how I liked my eyebrows, how often I go threading, and made small talk with me which made me felt comfortable. After she finished threading, she wiped my brows with rose water which smells really good. Overall, she did a great job on my brows. They are looking so much better than before. The best part was she offered me a great deal to buy a prepaid brow sessions for $45 since I already paid $10 using yelp coupon (right now $10 for $15 brow session) so yup, I will be heading back there since they do a good job and it costed me only about $8 per session. read more

What a great find! I've been looking for a good threading place since my not-so-good experience in Queen Anne. Upon visiting the first time, I knew I was in the right place. They are just so nice and calm and the place is clean and charming. I need my eyebrows, lip and chin done frequently so I got the 3 month unlimited card. Once my hair stops growing so quickly (due to the threading/not plucking/shaving), I'll get the 6-mos. card. It's a great deal. My eyebrows look just perfect! I'm so excited that I found this place (I work at the univ.). I could find it easily since I used to work in the Univ. Admin building (old Safeco bldg.) just across the street. But if you're not familiar with the area, just look for their sidewalk sign, stop next to it, look at the door opposite, go in and upstairs. Plus, the Trabant next door is some of the most wonderful expresso in the world. The prices are great - exactly what I paid for in NYC when I got threading done while on vacation there. I can't say enough good things about the Shanti Theading Salon. I highly recommend them and wish they'd set up shop years ago. read more

I was really disappointed because my henna was really pretty and when it stared to chip nothing was on my hand.Maybe it's the product that they were using but I don't think I can come back after I spent $15 on henna that didn't even show up on my hand.Also they didn't have a pricing book for the henna or color options. read more

My underarms were soo bruised I had to keep my arms up for the rest of the day and slept with arms hanging down....The salon is not fully equipped, for extraction she uses tissue and her finger nails.... Got my eyebrows done here last week. I really liked how they looked at the end, but for $15, it's not really worth it

I have never been to this place and walked out happy about my eyebrows. They're so close to my house and I also bought a membership with them for eyebrows and upper lip so that's why I kept giving them second chances. I have tried every single one of them, none of them really know how to shape eyebrows at all. My eyebrows are always uneven and always thinner than I tell them I need them to be. Waiting for my membership to expire next month and probably won't go back for eyebrows. read more

Walked right in- 5 minute wait. My eyebrows were over 6 months overgrown, but my gal did a great job. Swift and only a little painful. My brows look great! I had her do my chin as well, which actually means the whole jawline, sweet! The whole deal was about $25. Only 4 stars because the service is definitely cold- didn't feel very welcoming or nice. I desperately needed to get my eyebrows down and decided to try this place out since Yelp was offering a deal (10 for 15$). Eyebrows are priced at 15$ per session but run cheaper if you open up a membership. The lady did a wonderful job with my eyebrows and threaded them the way I asked for. This is a good place for threading, I have got my eyebrows done quite a few number of times.. However, I got their 'signature' facial done today, for the first time with a groupon coupon discount voucher and this facial costed me 30bucks and I am glad I didn't pay even a single buck more than this for the facial. Lightening fast threading! Generally that would make me suspicious about quality, but I'm actually pretty impressed with the shape. My only issue is a bit of irritation that I generally get if the process is rushed. This place is great if you're in a hurry. read more

They did a pretty decent job! I find threading to be a bit painful, but to get that precision, it sure beats waxing! I was able to keep them thick like I wanted to; I read a review somewhere on here that a woman was unhappy with her experience with the same request. I always come here when I"m in town on business. I tried the threading place at the South Center Mall and I ended up with a small cut, which she tried to play off as something I must have already had on my face. Shanti has always been reliable. Their new location downstairs is very nice and street parking in the U-District isn't too bad. Nice Yelp deal too! read more

Pretty pricey but cheapest in the U-District! I'm from Kent where threading only cost $3-$5 only so the opportunity cost of going all the way to Kent to get my brows done in Kent isn't worth it if I live in the U-District. First time getting my brows done here. My eyebrows grow out slowly so most of the time I get them done in good ol' SoCal whenever I visit home. Well, it's been 5 months and this girl needed some brow maintenance. I was hesitant in driving all the way up to see Jane of Studio JYC so I decided to try this closer spot based on reviews and proximity... Big mistake. I waited about 20 minutes since only one brow shaper was in. Not enough seats in the front to accommodate 4 customers so she had me sit at a chair in the corner... So far in the corner that she had forgotten I was waiting there. Also, if you're going to be thisclose to your customer's face it would be nice to not be a mouth breather with kickin' breath. At the end of it I paid $16 to have one perfect right eyebrow and a wonky left one. Leaving me with a big note to self: suck it up, make the drive, and get my brows done by Jane. read more

I bought a card, which gives me 6 sessions for a discounted rate. This is my fourth time here. My first 2 times were great. I really liked their work and my brows turned out great. My last two times here were with a different lady and were very frustrating. Both times, there was no one else in the salon however I was asked to wait. Why? Because the lady wanted to paint her nails. So I waited until she was finished since I had time. When she was finally doing my brows it seemed like she was cautious so she wouldn't mess up her nails. With her hands so close to my face, I could smell the toxic polish. I probably wouldn't be complaining if her work was good, unfortunately it wasn't, not compared to the other lady. Now I have two more sessions left and I'm not sure what to do with them. This is really sad since I had initially liked getting my brows threaded. read more

What an unprofessional business. They advertise henna on their site. I had an event to go to and henna was going to complement my outfit. I go there (to their Broadway location) and was told they don't do it there. Then why is it on their website? They tell me to go to their University District location. I do and waste 25 minutes commuting there in the process They then proceed to tell me there that the henna artist is out. I would never go back. 1.5 hours of my time wasted...and still no henna. read more

I used a Groupon deal they had for eyebrow threading. $8 instead of $15 for your first time going. The shop was clean overall and I was the only one there. The person who did my eyebrows cleaned them up nice but from my experience, my (former) shop I loved back home ALWAYS cleaned their customers face from hair and applied moisturizer. I was given a tissue on the side of my shoulder to clean myself up and then got asked about the membership. The membership is a good deal $50 for three months and unlimited services, but I wanted to see how my brows held up before committing. I'm currently suffering. My eyebrows have been itching for two days and they are broken out soooooooooooo bad. I never had break outs before. I applied aloe and Neosporin to stop the itching but it's bad. My eyebrows have red bumps all over them. I wanted to give them a chance but it's not worth me waking up at 4am to apply more Neosporin to my face. read more

Not only did she focus on my face, she massaged the products she used on to my neck, shoulders, arms and my back! Her massage technique is wonderful and it felt so good.
