    Philly cheesesteak and fries
    Matt M.

Diner food. A consistent and dependable restaurant with a wide variety of menu options. I dined in for lunch with coworkers. The service was good. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with fries. The Philly cheesesteak was ok. The Philly roll (bread) was not great. The Philly steak was a small portion. The fries were not good. The breakfast options are better than the lunch options.

Review Visit: April 17th, 2017 Does Shannon's get 5 stars from me? Close, but not quite. But why does it not get 5? Well, let's go into the stuff that was fantastic first. The place is big. Like, full-sized restaurant big with room to spare. Plenty of parking available and it is easily accessible from one of the main roads in Bloomington. The staff was super nice despite there only being one other customer in the place. We had a completely empty restaurant to choose from, so naturally we sat near the windows. That's one of my favorites, at least. The menu does not match the size of the place... but that isn't a bad thing. While it wasn't a full menu, like one you would find at Denny's, they still offer quite a bit. One thing to note is that they have cut off times for Breakfast and when Dinner starts, so keep that in mind. I was all jazzed to get a full breakfast and the waitress had to break my heart. The price is way cheaper than your typical Restaurant. If you can zoom in on the menu photo below, you can make out what they serve and their prices. The Buffalo Sandwich I got was $5.95. With fries, it was $8.15, roughly. When our waitress served us, I was surprised with how massive this Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was. It was nearly 2/3 the size of the plate! Which was great since my stomach was grumbling. So why didn't I give this place a perfect 5? Well, the food was pretty good! The service was top notch for it being slow. No, what knocked this place down was the bathroom. I will save the dirty details, but it needs some TLC. Walking in from a fine restaurant to a messy bathroom that is in need of some upkeep was quite jarring. Hopefully they have plans to fix the issues with it as it was my only complaint about Shannon's. Funny story to wrap this post up. I wasn't paying attention and started salting my fries. It wasn't until I put the shaker back down that my friend and I realized that I put sugar on my fries. Instant sweet potato fries, right? Luckily it wasn't much and didn't affect the deliciousness of them.

Average breakfast. The Homemade Sausage Gravy needed seasoning. The Country Fried Steak was not homemade. It was fine. They can't properly make a scrambled egg. It comes out like an omelette. The waffle was average. The buttery crispy hashbrowns were excellent!

We happened on this place while driving to a nearby business. The food was quite tasty and the service was very fast. We had stopped in for breakfast. The menu was fairly extensive. The place was immaculate. What more could you ask of a breakfast place.

There's the side of gravy and the container the B&G platter came in.

The food at Shannon's is great! I like the biscuits and gravy platter, hash browns, and the side of sausage gravy. I ordered it to-go, and as I got home it was still hot. As soon as I had made my way into Shannon's the host greeted me with a friendly attitude and smile. I had stated I was here for a pick-up order, and it had been done by the time I arrived which was great. The food was so piping I had to stop myself from taking anymore bites of it! The biscuits had an amazing taste alongside that sausage gravy. The hash browns were done just right and tasted wonderful. I used my side of gravy for the hash browns and it too was fresh and hot. They have daily specials, and I would check their social media pages for any specialties of the day alongside if they will be closed. The best thing about this place is the parking. I was able to find a place to park with ease and didn't have to walk very far to get to the restaurant. The price of the food is also just right in my honest opinion. It's a bit more than other places in our town, but it has that good quality taste.

We were passing through on our way to Peoria. Great place! We both had the cheeseburger chowder soup. Very good. I had a reuben on marbled rye It was just OK...cheap pressed lunch meat corned beef. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich on toast. He enjoyed it. I had a piece of coconut cream pie...it was fresh and wonderful! Husband had 2 scoops of vanilla that were the size of a baseball.. $44...a bit pricey for n this area.

Great service and good food. Big portions for the price. Chocolate cake is a must....but you will most likely need it packaged to go!

The Salty Caesar Flatbread was exceptional, romaine, herb chicken, bacon, tomatoes, mozzarella, and parmesan all piled on a flatbread, you just have to try it. We decided to go with the rustic pizzas that were delicious and unusual: harmony, Korean, chicken and loaded supreme. The crust tasted like it was from a woodfired oven and the Korean chicken pizza was so unusual and tasty with kimchi and pickled shiitake. The fresh from the forest mushroom side dish they gave us a special treat to us was quite a delicacy. Even the farm to table items they have for sale when you walk in to take home are a treat, Especially the homemade marshmallows! Ended with dessert of a fresh orange olive oil cake with just tremendous flavor and blood orange on the side and orange marmalade on the cake. It served exquisitely with a side of homemade ice cream that was to die for. We can't wait to come back! Our waitress, Lupe, treated us like family and was incredibly personal and warm. We started with the sashimi plate. The fish was fresh- including tuna, salmon, shrimp- placed over small celery bites. A variety of sauces were dotted around the plate's edge. The dish would have benefited from some ginger and more sauce. Our entrees included Pork Coppa Ramen- which was a solid dish- strong beef broth flavor and the sambal (chili sauce) -a few cents extra- added a good depth of flavor. The fish bowl- tuna, salmon- with rice, pickled veggies, and gim (Korean seaweed) was tasty. It was even tasty the next day cold out of the fridge. Our server Jack did a nice job- we sampled their roasted carrots- and they were actually our favorite bite. We also had the potato graten and they were tasty- but could have been easily skipped with our Asian dinner vibe. The restaurant has a great eclectic historical vibe and was busy on a Friday night, but still felt spacious. The drink menu is a good selection- we enjoyed wine with dinner (a solid Pinot noir). I would definitely go back to have the pizza- which looked delicious at a couple of the neighboring tables. This is a great date night venue or girls night out.

We stopped in 2 weeks ago for a cocktail and an app but passed on the food based on the indoor construction noise going on at 6 pm on a Thursday?! And although I enjoy new tech as much as most, in both instances we were also disappointed by failing attempts to incorporate new restaurant technology like the giant automatic drink mixing machine and the kitchen to table food delivery robot -cart. In both instances, I bit my tongue as a Yelper to give them a chance to work out the kinks and figure out what they really want to be. Based on a timely social media post today, I went solo for 'Taco Thursday' and after this 3rd visit, I'm compelled to weigh in. The negatives above have clearly improved - the construction team seems to have moved next door (Aroma, owned by the same guy), the place looked impressively finished, the tech gimmicks were gone as far as I could tell and the bartender today seemed to care and was very personable. Given that the employees have all been different each time we went, I'm hoping this means they've finally latched onto at least a quality cook and server. Hopefully ownership sees the value these employees bring and the trend continues. Besides the employee improvements and the impressive finished renovations the real positive I've now walked away with after 2 actual meals here, is the food. Altho I was told by 2 people that the Malaysian quesadilla is fantastic, I haven't tried one yet. Instead I can tell you that both the wings and the tacos (4 or 5 options each) are really quite authentically good. As for the craft beer, altho there are 20-plus ice cold taps and most popular styles are represented, nothing really stands out - except the daily happy hour prices (see attached pic with the current list of options)! I guess that means both the fork and the froth actually ARE going to be the draw...and at the moment at least, both are quite cost effective! So I'll go 3.4 stars until our next visit - one that will include a quesadilla.
