Review Visit: October 22nd, 2014 Free ice cream! Jason's Deli is one of those rare cases where I don't remember much about it. It does happen once in a blue moon but Jason's Deli does have an interesting point to talk about. What I do remember about Jason's Deli is the free ice cream machine. Once you have paid for your food and are seated, you have unlimited access to the ice cream machine. From what I do remember, there is the two basic flavors: chocolate and vanilla. There is, of course, the mixed option in the middle. That's my go-to option whenever I encounter these machines. It's nice to have something so awesome be free for once at a restaurant. everytime I've come here, staff has been SUPER nice. they always got our garbage in time and really friendly. the food is AMAZING, im not even exaggerating. I got the spicy sicilian sandwich and didnt want any ham on it so they gave me extra salami! I dont think anyone else has done that from where I've gone. it was amazing and they had a bunch of chip options. the salad bar has so many options too and has such good hard boiled eggs. you also get FREE ice cream!! the bathrooms and resturaunt were so clean. However, our last experience at this location was subpar, as the employee who took our order had a scowl on his face and gave attitude as we were attempting to order what we've ordered a million times before without problems. I had just had dental work and was being very careful, so I wasn't sure what I would be able to eat for lunch. The first thing I saw at Jason's Deli was a big piece of Texas Sheet Cake. As a very wise and dear friend always advised, "Eat dessert first." I took his advice and that chocolate cake was rich and covered with thick sweet frosting and crunchy pecan pieces. My pet peeve about chocolate is that it should be room temperature or warmer to bring out all of the flavor, and the cake still had a bit of chill to it, so that's the only thing I would change. I was going to give it a 4 star but the person who helped us at the register when we ordered was not helpful and answered every questions with "I don't know" which made it difficult to order what we wanted so we just changed our selection. Located on Veterans Parkway, it's not in the easiest to get to location, but that doesn't keep the parking lot from being full virtually every hour it's open. Jason's Deli is a fast-casual establishment homed in Beaumont, TX, specializing in soups, salads, and sandwiches. They have an extensive menu, including a variety of healthy eating options, seasonal offerings, and (the best part)...free ice cream. The restaurant was converted from a Hibachi-type restaurant and is now decorated in green, grey, and brown, giving it a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is made when it's ordered, so it can be a bit slow in being delivered. I've never had a problem with an order, the meals have always been accurate, the food has always tasted good, and I've never left unhappy or unsatisfied. It's not uncommon to see a manager walking through the restaurant to see how things are going. Unlike some reviews, I think the prices are very reasonable and it really doesn't matter to me that it may take a little longer to get my food, because I know a) it's being made fresh and b) care is being taken to make sure the order is correct. There is nearly always a line at Jason's, leading me to think they could do with either a) another order-taking station or b) to actually have all of the registers open during heavy volume periods. It's not uncommon for one or two people to do all of the order taking, which a) slows things down and b) ensures the line doesn't go down for extended periods of time. That's actually my only complaint, because everything else we've encountered during our visits. We ordered the California Club and Mediterranean Wrap; Jason's gets a star for quality (all ingredients seemed fresh), cleanliness, and customer service. Two stars are deducted for quantity and selection/originality. I actually had to open my wrap to make sure there was turkey in it, the bread for the club was dried out but my wrap was fine, and there is nothing that makes Jason's stand apart from another deli. Clearly Yelp is on the decline, hence the 4-star and not 5. Jason's gets things wrong, like all do in this post-covid hellscape of fast food, pickup, and delivery service quality. The difference is they make it right. Just a call, and they've refunded items missing from the order, missing sides, they've loaded me up with utensils when they've been out. I go regularly, maybe a hundred times a year (though likely closer to 200), and they're on it 9/10 times. Still have never eaten in, but it's a solid choice for reliable, healthier than average fast food selections. Huge menu and a salad bar that allows for as healthy or caloric of a bowl as you'd like. Their broccoli salad is the bomb. Wes, the store manager, is always helpful and friendly despite doing the most to the point of running around like a chicken with head cut off. They get slammed around lunch rush but are pretty slow for their size outside of then. Delays are always related to customer issues and not lack of car eon the workers side. One of the few places that I tip as they offer gratuitous service and it's not just an expectation for the pleasure of spending money there. I highly recommend. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about the Jason's Deli in Normal! I assist with running a leadership conference for high school students, and Jason's Deli catered 5 of our meals. The were accommodating, helpful, and provided us with a great deal. Not to mention all of the food was amazing and the students couldn't stop talking about how good and filling it was. They provided water bottles for us, which helped keep our students hydrated, and they didn't skimp on the delicious side salads! It was enough that we were able to pair with another meal we had ordered from elsewhere to enhance that option for the students. The staff was also exceptionally kind. I cannot recommend this Jason's Deli highly enough. I will definitely be a customer for life after this fantastic experience. Every Jason's Deli I've visited is first rate, and this location in Normal, Illinois is no exception. The service was first rate and, as always, THERE IS FREE ICE CREAM AT THE END. I ordered half of an Amy's Turkey-O, a turkey sandwich with pepperjack cheese and avocado, and a salad. The salad bar was great, with several options for salad and dressing, and even a few types of pasta salad. My Turkey-O was delicious. Then, at the end, UNLIMITED ICE CREAM!! By the time I got to the dessert course, however, I could only manage the one cup, which I suppose is for the best. Shout out to our busser, Freddie, who obviously recognized the locals I was dining with and kept coming back between clearing other tables for friendly conversation. Nicest guy ever, give him a raise. While I generally turn up my nose at chain restaurants, I'm feeling a little wistful that we don't have a Jason's Deli in the Quad Cities. We typically love Jason's Deli, but were extremely upset by our entire experience there this past weekend. First, we arrived to learn that their salad bar is no longer "all you can eat" and instead one trip only. They says this is cheaper but we still paid $8+ for one trip to the salad bar. Not sure who thought this idea up, as we saw countless people loading their plates up so high in an effort to circumvent this new "policy". It looked to us that people were actually eating more with this policy than if they had just given people multiple plates. We also thought it was odd the ice cream cones were taken away (you have to ask an employee for them) but you are still able to touch the ice cream machine yourself as well as the communal sauces. Our "hot" sandwiches were also received cold which was not very appetizing. We also did not appreciate the female employee (red hair) that took our order when we arrived. She was short, unhelpful, and seemed bothered by our existence. Even our young children commented how rude she was once we were seated. Not sure if she was a manager or just a regular employee but some additional customer service training is needed for her. After this experience, and our last when shrimp was found in our seafood allergic child's chicken noodle soup, we will be done with Jason's Deli for the foreseeable future. read more
