Medium New York Steamer w/medium drink, $10.95 incl. tax
    Robert S.

Three solid stars for Firehouse Subs. I don't live in the area, but I was pleasantly surprised this was here and happy they allowed dine-in (this is the time of the pandemic). I had the New York Steamer. I'm not sure what made this New York, nor was it steaming. The sandwich itself tasted great, but it took 15 to 20 minutes to make, and it was devoid of anything other than lettuce, a little bit of corned beef and pastrami, and cheese. The flattened mess I was served looked nothing like the plumped up menu photo. At first, I thought about complaining how paltry the sandwich looked, but it was tasty so I ate it and left. Had the person who took my order let me know I could've had a lot of extra toppings, I would've dressed the sandwich to make it more appetizing. But...the service folks were cranky, I was a tired traveler, and I just wanted to eat it and go.

Stopped her for a late lunch with the hubby. I had the Meatball Sub and the hubby had the New York Steamer. The place was clean and decorated in Firehouse items. The service was friendly and professional. The prices were below average. The food was very proportionate and plentiful. A large selection of drinks. The food was very tasty. We will be coming back again.

OMG!! Wow! This place is phenomenal. I found out about this place a couple of months ago when my friend brought me here for the first time. For some reason, I had no idea they were located where they are. I was excited to try a new sandwich place because I love sandwiches. As I took my first bite, I was immediately blown away by the amazing taste. So fresh and delicious. The bread is so soft and fresh. I don't think I can ever eat at a subway again after eating here!!! In addition, they do an excellent job keeping this location very clean. Since my first trip here a couple of months ago, I have been back several times. The great taste has greeted me each time back. The customer service has been wonderful as well. My go to sandwiches are the engineer and the hook and ladder. This might just be the best sandwich place in town! I can't wait to be back (maybe tomorrow!!!)!

Let me just start with the fact that they greet you when you get there. I think this is a really great business practice. The people are very friendly and care about doing the sandwich right the first time. The meatball sub was better by a longshot than another local sandwich place. My daughter said she loved the hook and ladder was very good also!

The Cutest Firehouse Sub Patron!!!! And her dessert cookie!!! She wants to eat it before dinner--Great Thinking

The service here is super slow. It is a little busy but there is no sense of urgency to get the orders filled.

When you order a slider, don't think you're getting some tiny sandwich--this thing is full-size and loaded. The kale slaw adds the perfect amount of flavor and crunch, especially when paired with Dave's sauce... such a good combo. The fries are also fantastic--almost perfect. I personally like mine just a little crispier, but the seasoning on them is so good it doesn't exactly matter lol And yes... we're talking about the pickles too. Perfect pickles. They add that extra bite and flavor that pushes the sandwich right over the edge to perfection. Oh and I almost forgot to mention my son wanted to try the macaroni and cheese so bad that he went up there and ordered a side of it, we all shared it. It was good, the noodles tasted just a little bit well done, and it smelled like velveeta. This place definitely gets crowded, but for good reason--it's a hot, popular spot and people know their chicken is fresh and amazing. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and I absolutely love the graffiti artwork on the walls. The bright, bold colors are so inviting, it almost makes you want to come inside before you even smell the food. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor and get over here and check it out. It's great!

I had to use the restroom and it wasn't awful, but certainly not something you would brag about. I was surprised at how many people were working behind the counter. This was Sunday around 3. Not exactly rush hour, but they were busy. I ordered the two slider combo and a vanilla shake. I ordered 1 mild and 1 hot slider. I had no way to tell which was which when I opened the box. I ended up eating the mild first. This really isn't special. The flavor is lacking. The hot was pretty hot. My head started sweating immediately. Anything hotter would have been a mistake. Again the chicken doesn't have a lot of flavor it's just hot. The fries were okay, and overall this was a lot of food. The chicken pieces were big. The shake tastes like any other shake. Honestly o would rather have Canes and probably will be one and done on Dave's. Unless you just really need some hot chicken I would look elsewhere.

The store in Normal is about a 15 minute drive off Interstate 74 from the south side of town. I started with 2 Chicago-style hot dogs. There was a pickle spear, a tomato slice, and some peppers in with my hot dog, on a poppy seed bun. I devoured them. Then I let my wife know where I was eating. She suggested I try a hot and wet, and the chocolate cake. The hot dogs were excellent so I decided to try them. I wasn't sure what a hot and wet was so I asked the cashier who took my order. She said "I got you." It was a slow-roasted Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers and dipped in the beef's natural "gravy" that dripped off it while it was roasting. I opened the package and started eating immediately. There was no stopping until it was gone. The photo in their online menu is pretty accurate. I didn't pause long enough to take one myself. Then there was the cake. If you like chocolate cake, this is a no-brainer. It was definitely non-dry. It was likely the best cake I''ve eaten all year. The restaurant was nice and clean, with someone cleaning up after customers as soon as tables were vacated. The cashiers were friendly, and the woman calling out the numbers was extremely friendly. I saw her offer to help a woman across the dining area from the pick-up window to package up a large to-go order. She also noticed that I went back for the cake. I will have to stop here again the next time I'm passing through.

However once you get to the door you may have issues. The doors were so heavy that I couldn't open it, then the restroom door was the same. The toilet was so low and the sinks were tall and I had to really reach for the soap and faucet. Thank goodness for friendly people helping strangers. There is only a diaper changing station in the woman's room so thats a disappointment. The food is what you expect but you need to be super clear with what you want because the cashiers ring up the orders so fast. I got the signature sandwich with sweet peppers, onion rings, Chicago dog, and a signature shake. The onion rings were a little too crispy and tasted like oil. They do have plant based food items but check out their chocolate cake slices too. There was plenty of seating for parties of 1 to 15 so bring the team in. There are tables and booths and there are high chairs too. The old Americana vibe was interesting, so great to play I spy games. The restaurant is huge and hard to hear your order being called, so stay tuned in before sitting down.

They were pretty crowded when we got there and the parking lot was a bit tight. It's kind of only one row of parking and I drive a larger vehicle so it was difficult to pull in or even back in to the parking place. I wanted to give 4 stars cause of the parking lot but instead just making sure you know, parking is a struggle. Once we finally got a parking place we went inside and placed our order. I noticed there was a lot of people that were happy and enjoying their dinner. There's not a lot of seating inside, I've definitely seen pictures of bigger Canes restaurants but it seems like it could be enough if people are in and out when they're finished eating. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and it was all fresh and hot! I enjoy the flavor of the chicken and also the cane sauce. The fries are okay but it'd be nice to try out some seasoning on them I'm not sure if this restaurant offers something like that. I love the art on the walls and I noticed the other two canes that I have been to have the brick wall painted with the canes logo. I love the ambience and all of the decor in the restaurant. I'd like to say that I would come back but they're building one in Peoria so I'll be able to have it there next. Thanks for making my meal fresh and ready!
